How do I start a new thread on procedures to export autos, or buy new autos in Puerto Rico under its new Excise tax laws. I have called phone numbers for specific model automobile excise tax info in PR: 787-774-1474, and 787-774-1463. But I would like to learn other people's recent experiences in shipping a car to PR, and also buying a new car there as I am having unexpected difficulties buying a 2008 model the PR tax department says it hasn't determined the excise tax on yet.

I am having a problem with my door handle. It seems that over time I've had to lift up higher and use more force to get the door open. I also noticed that it is attached on the key side. I was wondering what is the right way to get access to it? From the inside? I was also wondering what tools I would need? The vehicle is a 97 FORD CONTOUR. I want to get this fixed ASAP!!! :confuse:

This sounds like a good candidate for posting in the Got a Quick, Technical Question? discussion. It's really more about general automotive repair than it is specific to the Contour.

Post your questions there and I'm sure the folks who hang out in that discussion will be able to point you in the right direction!

Best place to ask about this would be in the Audi A8 and S8 Prices Paid and Buying Experience discussion

    PF_FlyerPF_Flyer Member Posts: 9,372
There ae discussions about the interior of many different makes and models here, so it's hard to point you at a particular one since you don't mention what kind of vehicle it is.

Use the Browse By Vehicle search tool in the left sidebar to find the discussions on your particular vehicle and then check the list of discussions the search gets you for the approriate one.

I have been looking to buy a new to me/used vehicle. I came across a "private owner" selling a vehicle. The problem is is that they are leasing the car. They have 2 years left on the lease but are trying to sell it. How does this work? I am so confused on the process. He told me we could go transfer the title to me. can anyone help??

And as mentioned in the post box, we ask that you not put email addresses in your posts... doing so opens your inbox to malicious use.

which forum/where? I have a new 08 DTS which has a new (or different from previous years) garage door system. turns out, mine can't be programmed for the brand of garage door opener I have. Lear (maker of GM's "car2u" garage door opener electronics) will send a module which must be connected/wired to my garage door motor and will (hopefully?) allow the unit to work. Otherwise, I might have to insist that Cadillac replace the new electronics to what was used in previous years models. Seems odd for $50K + automobile.

    Hi

I'm new here. Just trying to post my problem. Don't know if I'm in the right area? Well I have a 1996 VW GOLF Diesel. Just today the panel indecated an LED 'SERVICE2'? Normally it says SERVICE1 when the annual service is due and the orange coil icon is fashing none stop? It will turn over, but not start up? Sounds like its out of gas? Tank is full.

Anyone have a clue what it might be?
    Thanks for your help!

I am slightly clueless - so any suggestions would be appreciated. My tail lights fuse continues to blow. I am a novice with car problems and have replaced the fuse with the correct size. Works until I turn the engine over and then it blows. I assume it is overloading and wonder what the next step is in addressing this problem - would like to try to fix it myself. Thanks for anyone's advice.

The "tighten fuel cap" warning is displayed on my 2006 Impala LS 3.5L,usually only after the first start up of the day. Once the warning is cleared it doesn't come back up no matter how many times I start the car that day. The gas cap is tight and doesn't appear worn or damaged. I've tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to see if it would clear it, in case I had left the fuel cap loose, but the warning still comes up in the mornings. Could I be losing fuel pressure over night or maybe a faulty cap?

I have a 1984 Nissan 200sx with the 2.0 CA20e which I just rebuild. The problem is that when I cranked it oil poured out the front and rear crank seals. I mean a lot. The oil pan gasket is new and sealing and the seals seem tight when I put them in.

RVs don't have fixed "asking" prices and the markup is typically 50% (University Federal Credit Union). For research, I think I'd try one of the RV trading sites and search out forums. I read a lot on the TrailerLife site before taking a long road trip back in 2000, and got help on how to pay bills with no fixed address from them.

Thanks Steve. I paid for an appraisal at RVGuru.com for the model I'm interested in. I also checked prices at RVWholesalers.com and it does appear the markup is high on RVs. I'm looking to verify the prices I have in hand for the model I'm interested in before I make a purchase however.
