Hopefully, I can summarize this in a paragraph. I brought my car to a garage, for repair. The garage ended changing out the camshaft, and camshaft sensor. This was approved by the extended warranty company. The engine continued to have problems, I ended up bringing the car to the original dealership. The dealership suggested that the same repair take place. The extended warranty people told me to take back to original garage, and have the original garage repair on their own parts and labor warranty. The original garage of repair did.
The problems continued. I brought back to dealership, diagnosed the same thing, having to repair same part. I was trying to close the circle and have the dealership take over form there. After the dealership spoke with the extended warranty people, they told me that the original garage had to do again. I brought the car back to original garage, they gave up on it, having replaced the same parts twice and they tried to figure out what else it could be. Ultimately, it was beyond their expertise, and recommended I bring it to the dealer.
I brought it to the dealer, and after doing full diagnostics, have come to the conclusion that the engine has to be repaired. They called up that extended warranty people, and they want nothing to do with the repair. They want me to bring it back to the original garage and have the car repaired there.
Basically, I am looking to see how I can escalate this appropriately, whether it is with an attorney or someone else who has handled these kinds of cases. I believe the original garage of repair acted in best faith, and I also believe the dealership is trying to close the loop. I am trying to get the extended warranty people on the same page. I just want my engine replaced, which is supposed to be covered, by the VW dealership and covered by the extended warranty!
I appreciate your time, anyone I can contact that you may be in touch with would be helpful Thanks,

The help we provide in the "Lost?" topic is to direct you to where you can get the help you're looking for. This is not the place to resolve the problems. Think of us as ushers on this page.

I don't understand what these people could be thinking...but what kind of idiot do they take me for? It is so beyond insulting that a car salesman would claim that he offered me the lowest possible deal right out the gate. It's complete BS and it drives me nuts.
How can I call them out on their BS so they cut the crap?
Check out the "SERVICES FOR CAR SHOPPERS" box on the main Edmunds.com page for online rate quotes.
Or find a late model used one on AutoTrader by owner or on Craigslist, and skip the dealer experience altogether.

It's a 2009 Chevy Impala LS with 34,000 miles left on its lease. $350 a month. If I can't find someone. I will have to pay over $3000 out of her small estate to turn it in, which I simply can not afford. I need it to fix up her house to sell it. The car is in wonderful condition, barely used.
So this is a recently signed lease, with 34K miles left on it? What's the $3,000 fee about? Not clear on all the specs of this lease, sorry.
it's my understanding that you, as a family member, are not responsible for this lease---the estate is or...er....*might* be.
Since this is regarded as a kind of low priority claim against the estate, I'm wondering out loud here if you just could turn the car in and let the leasor claim against the estate and good luck---by the time they get around to collecting, maybe the house can be fixed up and sold, etc. It'd be a while before they could put a lien on it, if they are entitled to (they may not be) . And then, with house proceeds, you pay it off and clear up the mess.
You may want to consult an attorney about THAT maneuver, but it's just a thought to buy you some time.
It might also be possible, depending on how the assets were dictated, that maybe the lease company gets nothing! Maybe your attorney will tell you to just call up the leasor and tell them where the car is parked, and if they say you owe money, tell them good luck and "do what you have to do".
Also, was there any Credit Life Disability Insurance? This could pay it off.
Tricky stuff here.
Specifically, does anyone know when the 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe will be coming out?
All the dealers in our area ( Hudson Valley NY ) are either out of or low on stock of the 2010 models.
I haven't even seen it show up on Hyundai's US site.
Any help or pointers will be appreciated.
Thanks for your time.

If they did have a point system I would think karjunkie and you could retire on those points... :P
One last thing, is it my system or are the emotorcons out on strike?

I intend to get an inspection performed. Who have you had experience with? Most I see on internet perform only visual inspections. I can do that mysel. Looking for any frame damage, signs of accidents etc. Most services do not put the car up on a rack to look.
Any recommendations/experiences would be gratly appreciated.

Briefly, -- It's all about how the title reads. If there is no salvage title, then the car was stolen but not totalled, -- and the insurance company paid off the owner for it, and then later recovered the vehicle. Whether it was partly stripped or had some damage would not necessarily show up on these types of reports. Autochech and CARFAX can be as full of holes as swiss cheese or the Dallas Cowboys. They aren't always up to date.
In a case like this, I think I'd have an inspection done by a qualified body shop. I wouldn't be too concerned with mechanical issues at this mileage, but the body shop could spot suspension damage as well as body damage.

I am in the process of looking for a new car for my wife. We are expecting our 2nd child and need something bigger. Currently she drives a 2005 Volvo V50. We are looking at the Volvo xc70, Cadillac SRX and the GMC terrain. We are interested in a lease as she only drives about 12k per year. I have visited both the GMC and Volvo dealers and both have immediatly shot down the lease idea.
Long question short, Is there a reason they are so quick to shot down this idea of leasing? Is ther some incentive for a dealer to push a purchase over a lease? I have only ever purchased and never leased so am open to any and all suggestions. thank you in advance or your assistance.
You might want to look in on the Leasing vs. Purchasing topic in the Smart Shopper forum.

We have a "browse by board" on the right-hand side of the page, and I still see Smart Shopper on the drop-down menu, though you may have to use the side scrollbar on the drop-down to see it.

The themes there include buying and leasing, but it's not all inclusive and doesn't directly link to Smart Shopper. And the site is changing shortly anyway, so stay tuned Crkeehn. (This was probably the first question about navigating the site by themes, ever :shades: ).
Obviously you and I are seeing different pages, you are apparently seeing the new page and I am seeing the old carspace forums page, minus Smart Shopper.
I am not seeing the browse by theme, the nearest thing I'm seeing on the right hand side is browse by vehicle. I hope the transition gets over soon as it's a pain to find the smart shopper discussions.
But yeah, where I mostly hang out, no one has ever asked about themes.
i'm only asking because my purchase of a car is contingent on getting the right interest rate (basically, i don't have to buy a car now, so if the rate the dealer offers me is too high, i don't want to be locked into buying the car at this time). sorry if this is a really dumb question.
