    Given the $2000 BMW to dealer incentive, the discount is just $2500.
    On a lease, you get a $1000 rebate, but the dealer doesn't get an incentive
    Also, the money factor is marked up the max on the lease.

    First time leaser here. Here is the deal I have worked out so far. Want to check on discount, mf, and residual to ensure I'm doing well.

    Model: 2021 M235i
    Terms: 36/10
    MSRP: 50400
    Sales Price: 46378
    Taxes:3409.46
    Fees: 629.60
    Addtl Rebate: 1000
    Risidual: 58%
    MF: .00126 (I see they maxed this)

    Zipcode: 60564

    They estimated a lease cost of 599/mo with 4000 down (includes 1st payment, fees) and mentioned they could get it down to 549/mo.

    When I calculate it, it comes up to 542 though..

    Good deal? Am I missing anything I should be getting?

    Do you live in Chicago? That tax amount looks like it's for a purchase, not a lease.

    Suburbs of Chicago with a tax rate of 7%.

    Their paperwork shows options for purchase or lease. Here is what I received.

    Either way, if I get them out the door at 515/mo for 36/10 on a new 2021 M235i, is there more on the table (this is with all things static but reducing the MF to 0.00086).

    Hi,

    Starting to explore 228xi GC options.

    Sorry, I don't have too much info to go by, but dealer went down from an MSRP of $41,445 to $38,959. I feel they can still do much better, especially considering that some suggest getting this car for 15-18% below MSRP.

    They want 3,300 to drive off and $459 a month. 15k miles. This is NY.

    Should I fight to get the 15% off MSRP? Is is that dated information? Car is on the lot and ready to be had.

    The 15-18% discount is for loaner vehicles. 6% off is OK, but there might be room for a bit more of a discount.

    Ask them what the $3300 drive off covers, specifically (have them itemize it for you).

    Thank you. I will ask them. Also, when you say 15-18% off of the loaner cars, you mean from original MSRP, I assume?

    If I see one of these "retired" loaners at a dealer a few hundred miles away, would it be unheard of to try to have it shipped to a local dealer, or would I have to travel for something like that? I know they swap vehicles all the time, but not sure sure if loaners are treated differently?

    Yes, 15-18% off MSRP. Before incentives are applied.

    Never hurts to ask about a swap - worst they can say is no, and you're already there.

    Loaners make good candidates for leasing.

    Thanks, Michaell. They seemed to try, but just not enough for me to bite. I actually went a completely different direction (Mazda CX5), but just for reference:

    MSRP 40,795 (2020 model Gran Coup with around 3k miles)
    New "listed price" of $37,530

    They were willing to go down another $2,500 (1,500 lease cash, $500 conquest and as a last resort offered another $500 off).

    So I guess pretty much 35k. Which in fairness is 17%, but that is with the incentives included. Without incentives, I get 10%. Maybe I was being stubborn, but I felt it should have been better being a 2020 model, balance of warranty disclaimer and the fact that a lot of 2021 loaner lease cars are around now. The prices they ended up quoting based on everything above aside from the last $500 off:

    $3,200 due at signing and 430/month. 15k/year, NYS

    Thanks again for your quick assistance before.

    Agreed - that's hardly an OK deal, being a model year old. Should have seen a bigger discount, pre-incentive.
