Also, since there is no forum for purchasing/financing this car, I'd like to know how the incentive is different for a purchase option, if you have that info. I think there's a 0% APR offer (not sure about duration) but the incentive is likely lower if you want to combine with 0% APR.

Some people on VW vortex forums are claiming discounts of $8-9K off MSRP and I'd like to find out how that's possible since VW invoice and retail prices are typically only about $2K apart, so there must be some hidden incentives to make that big of a discount possible.

I haven't leased one yet, but I do have a lease quote that some people might find useful. 2021 Arteon SEL-P R-line with MSRP of $48,585, discounted total of $7,450 ($6,950 dealer+incentives plus $500 VW Partner Program discount. 3 yr/36K mile lease with $0 due at signing (35 monthly payments), $575/month including 9.5% tax or about $525/mo + tax. Payments based on 50% residual and 0.00001 MF per this forum. I think I will wait for a bigger discount since the residual is pretty poor.

Don't expect the residual to get any better as the year goes on. You might see bigger incentives, and you'll want a bigger discount to get a lower payment.

How does this look for a 36/12 lease of a '21 SEL-P R-Line? I understand that the Arteon does not lease very well and this offer looks similar to the one mentioned a few posts above. The dealer said Tier 1 and 2 credit are the same and the selling price looks to be 14% off MSRP with average sales in my area going for 9-13% off MSRP. Dealer is even offering to drive it out of state to me.

I was the one who posted the first quote in SoCal. Looks like your car has some $800 in extras over the one I was quoted which has no dealer-installed accessories. You probably have stuff like Bumperdillo, VW logo puddle lights, 30K pre-paid maintenance, etc. How is the sales tax of $1,111.08 calculated in your state? In California, you pay sales tax on each monthly payment (9.5% in my area). I think I'm going to hold out until the discounts get $1,500 or so better. The money factor is essentially zero and since the 50% residual cannot be changed, the only way for a better deal is a lower selling price.

I know it for sure has the bumperdillo and the puddle lights - cannot confirm about the pre-paid maintenance as I haven't seen the sticker yet. In Kentucky we pay sales tax on the monthly lease payment much like you do, only ours is 6%.

I'm debating countering with $0 DAS with 500/mo for the offer I posted above, although that would put me close to 19% off MSRP. Much like Michaell said, the incentives could get better in time but with a lower residual than the 50% - which in turn could just make the price difference a wash.

From what I've seen on a few window stickers on Auto Trader, the 30K pre-paid maintenance is $125 which sounds pretty cheap if it includes all the 30K maintenance items. The dealer I dealt with remotely told me that they don't order their cars with any add-on items like puddle lights, Bumperdillo, etc. but that the puddle lights can be added easily. Another SoCal dealer I talked to couldn't answer anythign about the car since their entire dealrship sold a total of 5 Arteons in calendar year 2020!
I have a feeling your dealer won't quite go down $45/month (it means an extra $1,500 or so discount) but it doesn't hurt to try.

$125 sounds pretty reasonable for sure. I have yet to see an SEL-P R-Line listed without the bumperdillo.

You were right, the dealer did not enjoy my aggressive counteroffer haha. I have however talked them down to $0 DAS for $550/mo 36/12. If it were you, would you take it?
