I got the same news as you today Dave,

The sales manager printed the request detail for me, "Two-tone paint application ZY2 not available. Tentatively available to order in 11-00".
Also, ditto for the cassette stereo I want instead of the cd.
I've been waiting a long time for this truck, a couple more months won't kill me, but it is agonizing!!

    :-)

(just suppose) it would leave him sometime to get a 2500. Wouldn't think the 1500 route makes any sense...LOL!!

Tim, when you got time, let me know on the beer...hehe!!

I gotta kill 3 kegs that are in there now from partys I had.....then switch to 1 -1/2 BBL instead of 3 - 1/4 BBLs.....if they have them yet..I'll get ..How many Growlers?.....I have no clue how much they are?.....a 1/2 BBL is $110

I just found something out about the Burb!....and I GOTTA get rid of it....like tomorrow now that I know it!

  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
    caught on.....a 2500 is $1600 more...

then I figured the wheels would set ya straight...

Autoride is nice...but a 1500 in this large of vehicle...or any truck..just has too much side to side wash and nose drop when braking and turning for me...

    so I'll dump it...

attention all these past months? The Edelbrock IAS and BFG velvets will take care of that wallow and make it drive like a NASCAR. How long before GM makes them a factory option?
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
but "there's no place like 2500.....there's no place like 2500"......

    LOL

How did it come my way?....hmmmm.....

Stay tuned for the next chapter.....

A minivan? Maybe with built in child seats? I think Dodge offers one with AWD. I think it's part of the transition to grey hair and driving a Buick sedan 45 mph in the fast lane on the interstate. {8^)
  • sdpiersonsdpierson Member Posts: 69
Went to the Chevy dealer to look, they had two 2500 Burbs with the 8.1 liter. Dealer said it is currently easier to get a 2500 than a 1500. Go figure!!!

I enjoy reading the postings on the Silverado sites, looking to do some performance upgrades on mine. I have 22k on it in 1 yr. 5.3 v8., 373 gears, 265 Firestones that appear to be wearing aok... Interested in airbox/air filter and electronic programming upgrades? Also, I have not been to dealer since sale, have not needed to. Are there any general TSBs' for this truck? Only thing I have a problem with is a slight "chirp" on starts. I do not like the headlights being on all the time, drls or auto ons. - would appreciate any info- thanks Tom S.

Congrats nice color by the way haha i am biased towards blue w/black flares

Now the waiting begins but its fun

  • mledtjemledtje Member Posts: 1,123
Read your manual. It will tell you how to turn off the headlights. If your truck is one of the early 2000's that didn't have the ability to turn off the headlights, visit R&D truck acc for a headlight controller.

All right,I admit,it was me, after being away for a while then coming back and listening to this ford guy spout off, well I guess I just lost it, I just want to hear about Chevy's or GMC's and not wage a verbal war with a f--d guy who had NO business at this sight other then to provoke Agreed by all I would presume...........

Roger congradulations with your order. My order still waits until they decide to build the Duramax trucks. However my salesman said they were given two allocations and I have one of them. It is just a waiting game now. Good luck and keep us posted when that puppy comes in.

Does anyone know how much of a chore it would be to install a block heater on a 6.0L?

    John
  • xringxring Member Posts: 129
Upon further examination, looks like the current block plug is brass with either square or hex shoulders inside the plug. Can it be as simple as finding the right size insert and unscrewing the block plug and replacing it with a screw in heater? (I know I must be in fantasy land!)

  • xringxring Member Posts: 129
Nice truck, good options! But I disagree with Ryan, Victory Red would have been a better color!! LOL!!!!! :)

  • roger350roger350 Member Posts: 157
Almost went with the Duramax too, but the price/waiting list combined pushed me back to the 6.0L. Honestly, it is still more truck than I need now anyway. But, I'm planning on keeping it a long time so I went bigger to allow for unseen needs that might spring up, like boats or race cars to pull, etc. So what are the steps in tracking an order? I've cleared the first big hurdle, the allocation, now is it waiting for a TPW? Order can be modified until then right? I really want the K05 CNG conversion capability, but my dealer said he didn't see it in his computer. I don't want to bug him to look again, but KBB lists it. I wonder if it is just not available yet? Oh well, thanks for all the support and kind words guys. Is it Thanksgiving yet? Good luck with your deliveries!

takes me back a little over a year ago when placed the order for my truck... ah yes...the good ole days of waiting...replaced by glorious days of hard-charging, mud-holing, firebreak terrorizing... whoa...easy big fella.

sorry guys...just wanted to remind you the wait is WELL worth it...

No offense Swobig.....we all gotta do what we gotta do I guess...I understand....

    If I ever did need a mini-van type vehicle....well....the Burb would be a good choice?...in 2500 though......(one hell of a mini-van eh?)

I know from your prior posts you have the Firestone Steeltex tires - Top new story tonight - Steeltex tire failures - same problem as the other Firestones. Not a recall yet - but 160 reported cases in the last 2 months of problems with the Steeltex. 80 injuries and 2 dead.

Thought you would want to know.
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
RED? Yea if your a chick with a caviler haha j/k. Id only get a red truck if i was a fireman.

    Ryan
  • xringxring Member Posts: 129
I have those on my truck. Where did you see the story? Any other info?

    John
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
These have been great tires so farr.....22K miles..3 rotations...and an awesome wear pattern.....you'd think 10 ply tires would be less likely to that crap?

I run 40 Min. in the rear and 50 in the fronts...I believe that most of the probs are due to under-inflation...

    sooo...I feel I am safe?//

lemme knwo if yawl hear any more?

I can get me some free tires!!

    whoohoooooo!!!

  • xringxring Member Posts: 129
Damn, well, looks like its time to contact my dealer and see what gives. Wouldn't mind having a set of Michelins instead of the Deathstones. Thanks for the info.

I just got home from talking to my dealer, I ordered my truck June 30th, got verification # two weeks ago, just got TPW today. My truck is supposed to be built the week of Oct 9th. Dealer says maybe delivery by the end of Oct. first part of Nov. I really wasn't expecting it until the end of Dec. HANG in there there's still hope, good luck.

    Ryan

hey red im over at tims chat room waiting to see if he ever comes if your bored go over there
  • vince4vince4 Member Posts: 1,268
Congratulations on the order. Why the snow plow prep? Do you think you would actually do that?

Don't count on changing your order now. If you do then they pull it and you have to start all over again at the end of the line. GM sets the TPW based on the exact configuration you order. With JIT parts supply and such they can't just change things at the last minute.
  • vince4vince4 Member Posts: 1,268
So you had to take that rental back, huh Tim?

Thought you might be interested in this site(or any one else). It is the HD silverado site. the address is
    www.HDsilverado.com
you have to have a dealer code to log in. I got my code from the 5 digit dealer code number on the bottom of my vechicle sticker. Lots of info for dealers and there is an area where you can download photos (to replace the one on your web page with all the lines in it). LOL If this is old info then sorry for the post guys.
