I don't know what you mean by a competitive band. BMW has lease specials that really don't exist in reality. Here is what BMW's website has on 530x leases when I put in my zip code in NJ:

NOW AS TO FACTS, you will probably not find any dealer in the Northeast that will make that suggested contribution on the lease DESPITE the fact that many dealers have that offer on their websites! BMW knows it and the dealers know it. I even called BMW customer relations to complain about advertising something that didn't exist but the rep didn't care in my opinion. I am surprised that they get away with it.

I just pulled the trigger on a 530x production car in New Jersey. While the dealer prep fee was very high ($799.00), they didn't mark up with money factor and I got a discount off of MSRP before loyalty. The dealer closest to my house marked all of its new cars $5,000.00 over sticker (Ramsey) so I had to shop around. I am bummed that BMW removed the digital key.

I was able to get the dealer to make the BMWFS suggest dealer contribution of $1,450.00 to the lease which none of other dealers were willing to do. MSRP of $60,835,99 putting$2,775.00 down, $778.56 a month with 7 MSDs and 15k a year.

Now for my 2 cents if the mods allow me.

I highly recommend joining the BMW Car Club of America. If you are a member for at least a year (or six months under a certain membership) you can get rebates directly from BMW. In the past ten years I have collected over $4,000.00. $1,000.00 for each 5 series (I will collect my third BMW check for $1,000.00 after I take delivery of my 530x) and $500.00 checks for a 3 series, a 428 and two X3s that I leased for my wife.

In addition the club has local events. The Club in NJ had a tour a few years ago of the vehicle processing facility which was great.

.00040 is the maximum markup. Insist on the base rate, or bargain a lower selling price.

You can't make them do anything.
