I picked up my ordered 2022 Forester Limited on Valentine's Day and got a super deal from my dealer! I traded in my 2021 Outback Limited with 8,500mi and got $3,800 in positive equity, to put towards the new Forester.

I ordered the Forester 12/16/21, loaded and added a few accessories. The final numbers were $391/mo. for 36/12k, with only tax and tags at signing.

Doesn't sound like you actually negotiated a price, if it can change now. What did the paperwork say when you ordered?

I thought the price was negotiated on the dealer’s lease order form I signed. It indicated the monthly payment, model, miles per year, and term. A month ago the salesmen indicated that the msrp increased by no more than $300. Now I’m being told the msrp and invoice both increased by 300 each and that the MF and residual changed. They shared the same MF you mentioned, and a 66% residual (not 64% like you mention). All of this increases the cost over the three years by approx $800. (This is the Forester limited with the nav option.)

Do I have any recourse here? I have previous emails from the salesmen indicating that there were no other costs. Also the lease form does have a line indicating “subject to rates and residuals at time of delivery”. First time purchasing (leasing a vehicle) but it seems like they are trying to squeeze out more money. I’ve waited 5+ months already for this order. Thank you for your feedback.

66% is correct for 36/12

If the MSRP went up $300, then the invoice likely went up at least 90% of that amount.
Of course, a higher MSRP also creates a higher residual amount.

A higher MSRP and selling price of $300 shouldn't add more than $4-$5 per month to the payment, all else being equal.

In November, the rates were .00126 MF and 64% residual for this model/trim.
The new money factor adds a lot, but the new residual should help.

How much different is the payment quote from the original?
What was the original MSRP and adjusted CAP?

  Sell price 32441.92 ( VIP deal 2% below invoice)
  36 mos-12000 miles per year - $444.04 out of pocket ( first month payment ) - your remaining 35 payments will be at $444.04 a month. Residual value 66% ; Money factor 0.00188
  Keep in mind this current payment is good though the end of March. It might change for the month of April when the car is ready to be picked up, however it may also stay the same. You must take programs in place at time of delivery.
