    The dealership quoted the money factor as .00232

    Looks like the dealership is inflating the money factor by 50 basis points
    Any thoughts?

    They are allowed to do that, for more profit.

    Let them know you want the base MF.

    Hey all,

    Looking for advice on negotiating the money factor

    Sales guy says they can’t change it and that Volvo doesn’t publish the MF publicly

    kyfdx was awesome and provided the following info yesterday
    .00172 MF and 56% residual
    $2000 lease bonus

    Current offer from dealership is
    Buy MF .00124583
    Lease MF is .00232

    I asked them to move toward the buy MF given the lease MF is almost 100 basis points higher

    These guys are all over the place with their quotes on monthly payments, etc.

    Would love guidance on how to negotiate the MF and how to substantiate to the dealer that they are full of crap and can indeed modify the money factor

    The "buy" MF is the one we gave you. Not sure where you are getting the other one.

    The dealer already knows. You can't "prove" anything to them. Shop other dealers. Or, calculate the total difference in dollars between the two money factors, and ask them to drop the price by that much.

    Do you have a source I can tell them I got the MF of .00172 from?
    I know you provided it, but I want to tell them so they have something to chew on other than my opinion (coming from you)

    The sales guy says the buy rate at 2.99% or MF of .00124583
    The sales guy also provided the MF for the lease at .00232 or 5.57%

    I have asked them to come down from the lease MF to closer to the buy MF
    I'll run the numbers and see what I can do the find a middle ground between the two.
    If they want a sale they'll play ball.
