Pacifico by the airport. There were three GT's when I showed up and one when I left. Another guy bought a blue GT as I showed up for a test drive. The one he had left was on the showroom floor...a GT FWD with RES.....$30k was the no haggle price. MSRP was around $37k and change for that one.

We also test drove a 2008 Touring at Hamilton Mazda which was closer to home. They had a black and a white with RES. MSRP was around $36k on both so you could get them down to $28k. I wanted a GT and looked within a 150 mile radius or Princeton to find the one I purchased. This was two weeks ago.

Forgot to mention...the prices I quoted and what I paid were with bank financing. I got a bank rate of 4.59%. At 0% financing I could not get them to take as much off the price. They were offering $33k at 0%. f you intend to pay off the car early 0% will not be as economical because total cash out of pocket will be more b/c the price of the car is more. We will pay this off early. I did get an over the phone quote from a dealer in North Jersey on an '09 GT AWD with assist package and Bose / moonroof for $33k at bank financing and $35k with 2.9%.

    Which Dealer in North NJ?

I got offered an 09 AWD touring in pearl white, sand leather, roof rack, moonroof package, and remote start for 31,940 OTD thats with 5 yrs financing. With DVD it was another 1500 so $33440.

Anyone have thoughts on this deal? Think I can do better? Greatly appreciate it.

    That's a good deal.

I'm a CT dealer as well, that's why I asked. Both of those dealers are in my neck of the woods.

Congrat's on your purchase! I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks 'persuader1' for urging me to consider 2008 GT!! I finally bought a 2008 stormy blue beauty (AWD GT) for 30600 (including pa tax, temp tag). The car is awesome!!

MSRP was 38440. The options were RES, BSM, all weather mat, wheel locks. I didn't trade anything. The discount of 10,000 (roughly speaking) was just cash. I financed half the money through capital one (awesome apr 4.71) and the other half was cash down payment -- monthly payment of 317 for 5 years with no restriction on early payment.

Also, just in case anyone is wondering cash down payment had no bearing on the discount (I didn't want to talk about financing etc. until we decided on a OTD price!!)

Thanks once again this forum in general for the wealth of information that all has collectively created. Bravo!!

We purchased a 2008 GT AWD with Assist Package, Moonroof, B.S.M., autodim/homelink mirror, and wheelocks for $30,350 (MSRP $40,075) plus ttl at the end of February. We are from the Milwaukee area, but found the vehicle that fit us best in Libertyville, Ill. At last check, there were still quite a few 2008's within a two hour drive of us.

I went Mazda dealer in Spokane, WA. The salesman showed me 2008 and 2009 CX-9. I checked the manufactured month/year labels for both at driver's side. The 2008 one has 04/08. And the 2009 one has 07/08. So, I asked to salesman about it. He said no idea. It seems wrong. Could anybody answer me about this issue?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 266,064
Why does it seem wrong? The '09 model was made after the '08 model...

They have to switch model years at some point...

    Hi,
Where did you buy cx-9 GT with 15,000.00. Can you please provide the dealer's name. Thanks in advance

    Hi,

I'm about to buy a new 2008 CX-9 Sport, Bose/Sunroof, Power Seat, Park Assist MSRP just under $35,000. I'm getting it for $25,000 plus tax and tags. It's the last 2008 the dealer has, I'm driving 3 hours to get it. How can they possibly sell it so cheap?
  • dealmaestro10dealmaestro10 Member Posts: 20
Are you getting 0% financing for 60 months as well?
  • derricksonderrickson Member Posts: 131
if you go back & look at prices paid as of a few months ago, you will see that $10K off MSRP for 08 CX-9's was fairly common, depending on what part of the country you're in. here in houston, $10K off was frequently advertised in the paper.

i ended up buying a CX-7 sport for $7K off MSRP, which ended up being $17K... as much as a loaded corolla! ;)
  • radar11radar11 Member Posts: 3
Thanks derrickson, I was actually a little concerned that this was some kind of bizarre scam. But the carfax checked out as new, and your message relieves me.

No, not getting 0% as well. So far it looks like 4%, [0% would have saved another $2500.]

    Hi,

I am desperately looking to buy CX-9 and would really appreciate if you can let me know the name of the dealer where you got this awesome deal.

I live in South Jersey and do not mind to buy it from the PA if you said that you bought it from a dealer in PA.

    Thanks,
    Vishal.

I'm looking for a 2008 Sport and one dealer I talked to said that they are really hard to come by and that they haven't received delivery on these in like 6 months. Is that true? I wouldn't think a 2008 Sport would be that hard to come by (btw, I'm looking for blk cherry, blue or white with sand int).
  • derricksonderrickson Member Posts: 131
:confuse: personally, it doesn't surprise me at all that they havent taken delivery of 08's since late last year... when i bought my 08 back in october, the dealer already had 09's on the lot.

i do agree they might still be readily available, but it might depend on your particular areas supply. you might have to look around a bit more than you expect at this point...

When I was shopping for a CX-9 this past week in So Cal, I did see some 2008 sports models still on dealer lots. I also found by shopping via the internet through Mazda’s web site that discounts on 2009 sports started at $7,000 and many quoted $10,000 of sticker, so why not get a 2009?
  • radar11radar11 Member Posts: 3
    Vishipat,

I picked it up yesteray at Castle Mazda in Silver Spring, MD. Long train ride to buy a car but coincidently I had some business down there anyway. They were clearing out their inventory of 2008's, looks like they have one 2008 CX-9 GT left for $30,605 if their website is up to date (along with other models). And they post the price right on their site which is how I found them. I put a deposit down site unseen but all went well. Great dealer, very straightforward and the fact that they post their clearance prices is awesome. Drove the car back and it is perfect, great car.

Looks like people better get an '09 unless they like the "smiley face" look.

    http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/20/all-smiles-updated-2010-mazda-cx-9-headed-for- -new-york/

I'm not too crazy about the "refresh", but maybe it will look better in person...

Saw the discussion about price. I just bought a brand new Touring '08 and was also skeptical about why there was an '08 out there (with 50 miles) in the Boston area. First of all, I think I got the best pricing by using Costco car buying program. It was a new hassle deal: You call Costco, they send you to a local dealer and the price has already been determined. They hand you a sheet with the invoice, MSRP and Costco price. Take it or leave it. Each vehicle (with options) has a different price, and I didn't think I could negotiate this low. Here is what I got. An AWD Touring with tow package, mats, and wheel locks for $28,000. The MSRP is $35,800 and the papers showed that this was $200 over invoice after the dealer gets a $3000 rebate from Mazda plus an additional $1700 or so because it was a 2008. Whoever got the Sport for $25000 with options did great.

The dealer I purchased the car from (great dealership) is the Mazda Gallery in Norwood, MA, but they told me they just bought the car from Liberty Mazda in Hartford, CT. They hadn't seen an '08 in a while and were happy to purchase this car. I called Liberty to inquire why this car was still around, worrying that something had been done to it and it was now for sale.. The GM told me they still have several 08's left (March 2009) and just need to move them. Must be some great deals out there. Good luck. I love the car.

    Hi,

It's 4-1-09... wondering if there are new numbers today..

I'm thinking about Leasing a CX-9, not sure what model yet. But I would like to get the Money Factor, Residual Value and whatever else I need to figure out my lease payment, with incentives, discounts, etc..

Looking to put $3000 total out of pocket, 3 year lease or 24 or 39 month doesn't matter to me, whatever keeps the payments lower. 12,000 miles, 15 cents a mile, or 20 cents a mile I'll consider if it makes a difference.

    Thanks!

I just purchased an '08 CX-9 Touring model from the Cory Fairbanks Mazda dealer in Orlando. Took some effort to get them to talk real numbers with me, but I feel like my diligence just paid off: The sticker for this base touring model was $32,500. Dealer had added perma plate paint protector, mudflaps and custom tinted windows for a total sticker of $33,580. My "vehicle price" was about $24,000. My out the door price (after taxes, tags dealer fees, etc) was $26,500. For others still searching, this dealer has at least six more '08 Touring models, and I believe about as many more '08 Grand Touring models. Dealer financed my purchase at 4.75%. Mazda still has great sales incentives going to the dealers to sell these vehicles, so stick to your guns and the price WILL fall. Good luck!

Just picked up an 08 cx-9 grand touring with Assist, Moonroof, Flaps, Roof Rails for 30,605. Thought is was a smoking deal.
  • yaqui316yaqui316 Member Posts: 7
i foudn a 2008 AWD CX9 Grand Touring, with GTA, Moonroof/Bose, towing pkg and remote start. MSRP is $41040, dealer is offering $8500 off. Price become $32540 + ttl/fees. I'm going dow tomorrow to see what my trade gets me (2005 Honda Pilot EXL).
I tried for 10k off but couldn't find that deal anywhere, as there are very few 08's left out there.

    Thoughts on the price?
  • orlandokimorlandokim Member Posts: 2
Last Thursday I had the Mazda dealer at the Lakeland Auto Mall offer me a fuly tricked out GT for $28,800 + TTL. I believe they still have 3 on their lot. Also Cory Fairbanks Mazda in Orlando has about a half dozen. Go to the MazdaUSA page and do an an inventory search using various zip codes and you can quickly locate dealers trying to unload the last 08's (the search let's you look for the specific year, make and model) and shows you which vehicles at which dealers have which options added. (If you want to search Central FL, try area code 32810) Good luck!

I got an offer $7K off for 2009 GT. I think it's not a good deal for 2008.
  • ray_5ray_5 Member Posts: 2
I bought a 2009 CX9 GT FWD with sunroof, bose pkg, GT assist pkg, Navigation and third party installed overhead dvd player (audio via FM radio) for $35600 + ttl in dallas, tx. Financed with 0% apr. Is this a fair deal or over priced?
  • skippygskippyg Member Posts: 2
Seems like about $4,500 below MSRP with the financing. Without the 0% financing, you would save another $3,500. So, 8K off of a 09 GT sounds about right.
  • skippygskippyg Member Posts: 2
Got for $31,800 and OTD for $35,200.

    ray_5:

Where did you get the DVD installed and does it work similar to the Manufacturer installed one wrt to driver/dash controls ?

    Thanks.
  • ray_5ray_5 Member Posts: 2
I had the dvd installed before taking delivery of cx9 from the dealership. It works similar wrt driver/dash controls but the minus point is that audio is via FM which degrades the quality some times.

I have been reading the boards on here and i see that the deals being made. I have an opportunity to purchase a 2008 with Navi/Ent and 3 other items with msrp of $39,585. The dealer added junk stuff for a total of $41,044. I have been able to negotiate to $31,044. 10,000 down but I hate the dealer junk added but this is the only car available. Is this a good deal? How much should I expect to pay for a 2009 with similar packages?
  • cericceric Member Posts: 1,092
The best deal I have seen for 2009 is $7000 off on newspaper.
So, you are looking at $3000 difference for a 2009, which only added a standard trip computer and some improvements on sat/ipod/navi integration. If sat radio is not involved, then 2008 works fine. If you are going to install sat radio, I would suggest you to buy 2009 model. If not, $10,000 off for 2008 is a good dealer.
Think about it. All those "junk stuff" dealer installed (actually port-installed) are offered to you at "below invoice" price (together with the vehicle). You can't beat that. You may resell those accessories if you really don't want them on eBay.
    :)
  • geomensgeomens Member Posts: 7
    Thanks for your response, Ceric.

The "junk package" i referred to was dealer installed options which is added to the original msrp from the manufacturer. On this particular vehicle it was $885 for "appearance package" which includes tinting and that cannot be removed.

this has been great forum, which gives good reference point to negotiate,

I have been shopping around for 2009 GT, dealer offered me 2009 GT with sunroof and some other option, total MSRP 36,675. I was able to come down to 30,000 Out the door.

Is it a good deal ?

    Hi,

    Quick numbers:

    33931.29 car + dest
    2374 1EP
    344
    - 1000 consumer
    - 3000 factory to dealer

    30165.16 before TTL.

I think it a good deal.

Did you have a trade? What area / dealer did you get the CX-9 from?
  • jenschaef1jenschaef1 Member Posts: 2
First of all a great big thank you to all who post here...without the information provided, I would not have gotten such a great deal.

2008 cx-9 GT (white) with blind spot monitoring, moonroof/bose/6cd pkg, Towing, and GT assist MSRP 39,210. Negotiated amount of 28,810 for a total savings of 10,400. I am in the Phoenix area and had a great buying experience from Camelback Mazda. We called them last night and had the car waiting for us this morning for our appointment. Whole deal took a little more than 2 hours including the 5 minutes it took to turn down extended warranty. :)
  • duaynedduayned Member Posts: 30
Man, now that sounds like a good deal!

Congrats Jenschaef! Hmm, maybe I should be looking at leftover 2008's.

I'm with you on turning down the extended warranty. You can always get one later -- for less money, anyway, when the factory warranty is almost up, or get an MBI policy from your auto insurance company for much less.

I have been shopping around for a 2008 CX9 GT and the max discount found so far is $8000 but the car has approx 5000 miles on it since it was used as a demo car by the dealer. Is this a good deal? Any suggestions?
  • jenschaef1jenschaef1 Member Posts: 2
I personally don't think that is a good deal for a 08 gt with 5000 miles on it. Most people at this point into 09 are getting right around 10,000 off of the left over 08GTs. (mine had 250 miles on the odometer) The dealer I bought mine from had a demo with 14,000 miles on it that he sold last week for 12,000. off msrp. I did run into 1 dealer who had 3 left on the lot that would not take more than 8000 off sticker but those had only a couple hundred on the odometer. Call around to the dealers in the area to see if they have any, and make an appt with a manager if they do. I think I would shoot for around 11,000 off a demo with 5,000 miles.
  • robjamellrobjamell Member Posts: 35
I would say that is not a good deal. I have a 2008 GT AWD White Pearl and Black interior that only has 850 miles on it and I am currently selling it for $29900. That is $8k off and not even a thousand miles. I know everyone is asking why I am selling it. It is a great vehicle, but right after we bought it our circumstances changed and we need a bigger vehicle like an Expedition or Armada.

    Hope that helps.

  • bnpbnp Member Posts: 4
First, thanks for this forum. It's helped me a lot!

I wanted leather, but I found a deal on an 08 Sport that I just couldn't pass up. My wife didn't want leather anyway and I can add it later if I win that battle.

Stormy Blue Mica, black interior, no options other than Theft Avert Window Etch and 3-yr Loss of Gloss (I can't believe they charge $1000 for that). It's a demo with 3k miles on it.

    MSRP $31,000
    Purchase Price $18,500
    OTD $19,514

I thought $12,500 off a Sport with little options (demo or not) was a steal. That's a little over 40% off MSRP.

The dealership was 100 miles away from me here in Raleigh, but they delivered it this morning for free. I got them to change the oil before they came.

I had driven a GT and I like the 18" wheels on the Sport better as it makes for a less firm ride. Can't wait for the wife and kids to get home in an hour and see it sitting in the driveway. I might even get lucky tonight!
