I don't know the variance... but, it's only $9, so who cares?
I don't follow the market, but $5K off seems reasonable.

$5K discount, no markup to the money factor. The only bump I see is $300 increase to the acquisition fee, which is typical for a Mercedes dealer.
All of the other numbers are legitimate and typical.
The calculated payment is exactly correct.

You won't know if you can do better, unless you shop more dealers.

I’ve been informed at a dealer’s appraisal that my current car has some equity.

Is it better to sell my car to the dealer directly, what the dealer called a straight purchase, where the dealer would pay to MBFS the payoff amount and do all the paperwork with MBFS and the DMV

or is it better for me to do a lease return and pay $26,850 payoff amount + $150 purchase option fee + use tax, DMV title, license and registration fees to buy the car at the end of the lease and then sell my car to the dealer

Does applying $3,000 from the sale of my old car to the dealer to lower the adjusted cap cost of the next leased vehicle create any complications? If so, what are they?

It's still exactly $5K under MSRP.

As long as the dealer is buying the car, and crediting you with the equity, you want to trade it in. Otherwise, you have to pay sales tax on the purchase.

No problem with using your equity on the new vehicle. You can use it to pay your upfront charges, and walk out with nothing out of pocket.

I am to receive $3,045.75 for selling my car to the dealer.

Instead of providing me with a check, the dealer applied $3,045.75 towards the drive off of a new leased vehicle, resulting in an additional $289.35 cap reduction tax and I believe he applied the remaining credit $755.01 to reduce the Gross Capitalized Cost.

2. Capitalized Cost Reduction reported $3,775.01 in Section 6, Line b but it does not match the $4,346.05 amount from $3,045.75 Net Trade-in Allowance (Section 5b, Line 1) + $1,000 Rebates & Noncash Credits (Amex Auto Purchasing Program Code) in Section 5b, Line 2 + $300.30 Negative Cash Surplus from the dealer’s Amount Due at Start worksheet. What is the correct amount for Capitalized Cost Reduction?

3. Adjusted Capitalized Cost (Section 6, Line c) reported $41,421.55. Shouldn’t the Adjusted Capitalized Cost = $44,945.00 – ($3,045.75 Net Trade-in Allowance + $1,000 Rebate + $300.30 Negative Cash Surplus) = $40,598.95?

4. Why is the $3,775.01 Net Trade-in Credit (aka Capitalized Cost Reduction) in Section 6, Line b added to the Amount due at Lease Signing in Section 5a, Line 2 and not deducted?

5. Why does the amount in Box 1 titled Amount Due at Lease Signing include the Net Trade-in Allowance (Section 5b, Line 1 ) + Rebates (Section 5b, Line 2)? Shouldn’t the amount equal the Total Amount to be Paid in Cash (Section 5b, Line 3)?

$250 added to the Gross CAP. You'll have to ask them why.

The negative cash surplus was from the original offer. With the numbers changing on the new contract, no surplus. (This amount actually increased the CAP cost, on the original offer)

It appears as though the AMEX and Preferred customer are the $5000 discounts from MSRP. I don't think these are rebates. The only rebate is the $1000 loyalty, shown in how the Amount Due at Signing will be paid. Your CAP cost reduction has increased with no explanation

The amount Due at Signing is up $82, but the monthly payment is down by $16/mo, leaving you ahead by $494 over the original proposal. This is reflected in your new adjusted CAP (about $500 lower than before)

Line 12: I don't know what goes into this number, but it's not an actual number that is in the contract. The relevant numbers are all spelled out, above.

The net effect of the changes: Price raised $250, but CAP cost reduction raised by $750, leaving you a net $500 gain. We don't have an explanation for where they found the extra $750 in CAP reduction.

That's what MBFS thinks the car will be worth at that time. The RV doesn't have to be based on market realities, just what they think the market will bear.

While it makes your lease payment higher, if the values stay the same, you'd have a heck of a lot of equity at the end of the lease.
