Someone on reddit is reporting that Kia increased the purchase incentive from $3750 to $5k as of yesterday but the Kia offers web page still says $3750. Could one of the moderators please confirm?

Thanks. From your response to the other person it looks like the lease money factors changed again in Aug. Could I please have the MF and RV for a GT-Line AWD for 24 months/10k miles and 36 months/10k miles in zip code 11040.

Can I have the numbers 36/15K for both Wind RWD and GT-Line RWD in zip 24541.

Also, from previous posts is there a $1K loyalty bonus and $5K discount in addition to the $7,500 lease cash making for a total discount/incentive of $13,500 off MSRP/sticker price for a lease?

    Hello,
    Can I get the MF/Residual/discounts on 2023 GT line RWD EV6 for 30068 for 12k/36 and 15k/36?

Also, can someone give some insight into whether it might be better to purchase instead of leasing? I’m not sure what all the finance deals are or if you can combine the lower customer cash with a decent rate or if trying to max the $5k plus any dealer marks downs and financing solo via credit union would be best?
These are the two deals I was just sent. Doesn’t show MF. The first one is for 15k/36 second is 10k/36

I was thinking we would buy it at the end, unless we hate it…? I hear a lot of people saying they do the lease to get the $7500 and then buy it out soon after. But just trying to figure out the best option. Purchase without special financing will end up $750/mo at $45k financed vs $525 lease. I guess mikes don’t matter if you buy it anyway, so maybe it’s best to just get the 10k mikes/year?
I don’t really understand the breakdown in deal 2 at all. But seems like a much higher sales price than what you can get when financing…so maybe lease and buy you do end up paying way more.

Remember, if you buy out at the end of the lease, you are taxed on the buyout amount, and will likely have to finance the balance. You wanna guess where interest rates will be in 3 years? I don't. And, you'll likely be making lease + purchase payments for 7/8/9 years total.

Just things to think about. Look at the total cost of ownership picture, not just the current lease vs. purchase payment.

These are the two deals I was just sent. Doesn’t show MF. The first one is for 15k/36 second is 10k/36

Here are the obvious differences between the 2 deals.

    Deal #1
    $3050 discount off of MSRP
    $2000 trade in allowance
$995 in accessories (you should probably not get)
This deal has about $4055 off when you factor in all of the above.

    Deal #2
    $1180 discount off of MSRP
    $3500 trade in allowance
This deal has about $4680 off you factor in the above but has a $200 higher doc fee than Deal #1.

The reason these deals are difficult to compare is because deal #1 has everything rolled into the lease payment including the capitalized sales taxes of $2355 and the mileage allowance is higher in deal #1 so the residual value in deal #1 will be 3% lower leading you to pay for more depreciation in deal #1. Capitalized taxes means they included it in the lease payment instead of being paid up front. You can see paid by customer of $0. Deal #2 shows lower capitalized sales taxes $1230.84 and paid by customer $1677.32 which means part of the sales taxes are included in the paid by customer amount. In order to more accurately compare these lease deals they need to be for the same miles per year because a higher mileage allowance means you're paying for a higher depreciation in the lease and both deals should be $0 paid by customer (deal #2 includes some money paid up front). Regardless, you should be able to find a higher discounted selling price or get these dealers to reduce the selling price (without increasing your down payment). I just saw someone posted a deal on reddit for a GT-Line AWD for close to $10k off of MSRP before factoring in the $7500 lease cash.

Like @Michaell said you should be comparing total cost of buying right away versus leasing+buying later if you plan on buying it at the end of the lease. I like leasing new cars because if the depreciation of this car is very bad then you can turn it in at the end of the lease and walk away.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I don't understand why the trade in allowance is so drastically different between the 2 deals, $2000 vs $3500. I'd contact Carvana, Carmax, Vroom, Driveway, KBB instant cash offers, etc to see what they'll give you for your car. You should be able to get offers online.

    Hello,
    Can I get the MF/Residual/discounts on 2023 GT line RWD EV6 for 30068 for 12k/36 and 15k/36?

Also, can someone give some insight into whether it might be better to purchase instead of leasing? I’m not sure what all the finance deals are or if you can combine the lower customer cash with a decent rate or if trying to max the $5k plus any dealer marks downs and financing solo via credit union would be best?
These are the two deals I was just sent. Doesn’t show MF. The first one is for 15k/36 second is 10k/36

Really appreciate the thorough response. I know I’ve seen a couple of dealers advertising a finance sales price of $44,700 but I think that’s with the dealer discount and the Kia customer bonus cash. So I figured on leases you wouldn’t be able to get them more than a few grand off msrp. Do you happen to have a link to the Reddit page where that deal was so I can maybe use that? I think having the flexibility to walk away after 3 years if we hate the car or it depreciates a ton is nice. We do drive a lot with our kids’ sports, so I think 15-18k/year mileage is the safer bet if we plan on possibly turning it in, or we’ll be stuck with crazy overage charges. Obviously it’s less expensive to do 10k miles a year because you pay less depreciation… if we knew 100% we’d buy it at lease end, we’d do 10k miles to get the lowest pymt and not worry about going over. But you’d have a higher residual to finance on a car worth less.
I agree if keeping it long term, financing it..even for 6 years, is better than leasing and then financing 4-5 years after. But if I could get the msrp dropped significantly on the lease, it might be more palatable.

Anyone have success on this forum of getting the msrp down below $48k on a lease for a GT line?

You can definitely get more than a few grand off of MSRP on leases based on what I've been reading. I'm not sure if it makes a difference to the dealer's sales numbers if you buy or lease the car so their discount off of MSRP shouldn't change based on whether you're buying or leasing. I know dealers are going to quote selling prices with either the $5k buy incentive factored in or the $7500 lease cash factored in to make their discount appear larger than it really is. When you ask for their selling price and they respond "are you buying or leasing?" then they'll probably want to factor in the appropriate incentives into the price they quote you. I'd respond that I'm not sure and tell them to give you the selling price without factoring in the purchase incentive or lease cash.

To find dealers with the best discounts I'd use the search on autotrader.com, cargurus.com and cars.com and expand the search distance to be further from where you live. I've read about people buying/leasing EV6s far away from where they live and then having them shipped because they were saving thousands of dollars.

Based on what you said about the amount you drive then definitely get a 15k or 18k miles/year lease but I'm not sure if Kia Finance does 18k miles/year leases. One of the moderators should be able to answer that.

Also, remember to make sure that they're not marking up the lease money factor in your lease deal. You should compare the MF you get on here to what they use in the lease deal and if they mark it up then tell them you want the base MF. Remember a few decimal points can really affect the monthly payment. 0.00222 MF is equivalent to 5.328% APR and if they were to mark it up to 0.00250 MF then it would be equivalent to a 6% APR.

Here are links to 2 Reddit threads with EV6 lease deals. My apologies in advance to the moderators if posting these links is against the forum rules. The first link shows someone in California who got about 10k off of MSRP.

    Nope, link away!

The highest published residual is for 15K per year; however, you can pre-pay for the extra 9,000 miles at a fixed rate and have that added to your monthly payment - usually the pre-purchase rate is .10 or .15 per mile. Certainly less expensive than paying the .20 or .25 per mile as an overage at the end of the lease.
