I have reported it. I don't know why nothing shows up for safety issues on Santa Fe. I've checked.

Hey to everyone. Hope you didnt think I would get back to you on the PSI issue. I stoped by Louisville dealership, spoke again to tech, who told me the 28 PSI has been recommended for ALL SUV's not just SF. So, I then asked why is Hyundai placing a decal noting 30 PSI. He said call this guy, Jim Kubosky, in Ill. and that is who he got his info from. So..off I go to call Jim, well..still havent talked to him directly at HMA, but did talk to Greg, and he had not heard of the 28 PSI issue. But I told him my story, and what was told to tech in KY by a Jim Kubosky. Well..he said he would check with Jim, and would fax me the info. That was on Monday. Today, still no word, so I called again, and they are still looking into the matter. Kinda weird, now no ones seems to know anything except my local tech who was taught it at a Hyundai training course. WERID MAN WEIRD !! Also..just recently noticed my GL auto is starting to rev high when I first start out. It isnt all the time, and when I put it into drive, it hesitates for a split second, and then goes. But while driving from say 5-10 MPH. seems to go into the 2-3 RPMs really fast then dies off, but every other speed it stays at 2 RPM. Can anyone shed light on my issue?
Please feel free to email direct if you like. Email addy. is Wales@nfocusimages.com
    Thanks in advance.

"Personally" I think we should have done the oil change at 5000 miles because it stay in between of the Manual and and Dealer Recommended. For 5k miles is just good to do so that you really don't have to add more oil into your engine when it get low. Especially when do at 7500 miles, it really depend how's your condition driving and where you live (kind of dangerous).

Regardless who is doing the oil change or not but most important is the OIL and OIL FILTER quality. Certain place do different kind of oil and oil filter. Personally, I like to do it myself because I like to put in OEM oil and oil filter recommended by the manufacture. Doing oil change should be very easy. If you put time and effort to learn and do for the 1st time then the 2nd time and on should be very easy.

If you don't want to try to do it yourself. Then do oil change at the Hyundai dealer ONLY.

Just as Info about 6 years ago Consumer Reports did a Study with 400 brand new Cabs in New York City. They had 200 hundred change their oil at 3500 miles and the other 200 change their oil at 7500 miles. After 2 years and approximately 300, 000 miles the tore the engines down and measured the wear on pistons, rings, cylinders etc. They found no difference in wear between the cabs that had oil changes every 3500 miles and the ones that had changes at 7500 miles.

You can contact Consumer Reports about the study if you like.

Here's a new product for you new Santa Fe owners - one I'll bet none of you have seen, heard of, or dreamed of! I just read about it in Popular Mechanics yesterday, and just checked out their web site - and found that they do have a paint protection "kit" specifically made for the Santa Fe.

Basically - it's pieces of custom cut plastic sheeting that you can fairly easily apply to the various 'high wear' areas of your Santa Fe (or many other cars - for that matter!) - which protects your new cars' paint from rock chips, scuffs, & scratches.

For about $310 - you can cover your Santa Fe.

I'm no salesman for this product - but I'd buy this product - and I thought maybe all you proud Santa Fe owners would love to know of a way to keep your car looking new as long as possible.

    Check it out!!!

    You'll find it at...

A film that covers the car? This is almost too much Martha Stewart for me to take. Does it come in a nice garden floral and when is the blue light speical going to be going on?
    I believe you that's a given.

But honestly now, The add couldreally sound like this on late night TV.

Doubles as a hurricane shield, semi inflatable life raft and if you order today we include enough extra Miracle film to cover your kids bicycle! Not once, not twice, But three times!
Order now and avoid the rush, this offer available for a limited time only. Not available in Washington DC or the Northwest territory of Canada. Supplies limited. Sorry no COD's

    Richard,
Almost spit out my bottled water I laughed so hard at your post. I suggest a daisy and peace sign motif. Seriously, this coating was the talk of the RX300 board a while back. Thank's for making my evening.

The film that was mentioned above is also referred to as the invisible car bra. It's not new, BTW, and has been on the market for a few years now. It's made of 3M Scotchcal and doesn't actually cover the entire vehicle, but only the more vulnerable (to damage; paint chips) spots such as the front bumper, hood etc. The material was originally developed by 3M for protecting the paint on helicopters, BTW. For best results, the pros should handle the installation (most window tinting shops should be able to do it.

Hi, everyone. Am seriously considering the Santa Fe but have read alot about poor dealership service. I'm in the San Francisco bay area and would really appreciate hearing about your experiences with the "new" Hyundai service.

Does anyone know if the auto-dimming mirror (std on LX models) can be obtained and installed separately -- either from Hyundai or a third party? Or is it electronic in some fashion, that would make it a nightmare process for a NON-handyman like me???

Frankly it is the only LX option that matters to me in going from the GLS to LX.

    Thanks.

I have a galaxy blue Santa Fe and, tragically, it already has its first nic (what's worse, I did it!). Anyone know where I can get matching touch-up paint?
  • parkchesterparkchester Member Posts: 13
Well, Doten in Richmond was able to do the $30 oil change in exactly a half hour and they did a quick warranty part change with no hassle!

    HI Drew,

Sorry there mate, just couldn't help myself. I know that there are several films available that cover those nasty bits what get nicked by rocks and such. Head lights being one of them. Keeps the dead love bugs off as well here in Florida. It was just my warped sense of the absurd taking off on me and covering the entire car with cling wrap has to be the the next step. Poke a few holes in it of course as you do have to breath right?

Sorry once more. I have to get orf this one before I wet me trousers.

    Richard.

I live in Southeast Florida and have called every dealership in my area and surfed the web but it appears that no ABS models are being shipped to my area let alone the state. I am curious if anyone has ever seen an LX with the ABS and if Hyundai is even manufacturing any with this option. I personally would never drive a vehicle without it especially down here on our rain soaked oil slick roadways.

I live in VA and have spoken to 3 different dealers and have gotten the same result. They say they have not seen nor expect to get in any GLS V6 2wd SF's. I find this hard to believe. Living in VA we do not receive that much bad weather and I firmly believe the Front wheel drive can sufficiently handle the weather we get.
Alas I like the sf so much I am going to by a 4wd.

    Friends,

I would like to personally apolgize to Mr. Cooper for my most insenstitive remarks about the Miracle film covering. What he posted was done in good faith and he beleived that he had something to contribute. PLEASE check out the URL that he posted and have a look for your selves. The post was number 1358 and the URL that Mr. Cooper posted is http://www.xpel.com/paint/hyundai.html#p3703

I'll admit to being a little warped in my humour and I truely am sorry if I have offended Mr. Cooper in any way shape or form.

His intentions were to help others as all of us should do. I failed in that and for that mistake I am sorry.

Because of this I shall remove myself from this forum.

May you all enjoy your Santa Fe's and have a great time. I've learned a lot form this board and without it I probably woud not have bought the car.

Thank you all and once again, my sincere apology to anyone that I might have offended.

    Sincerely,

    Richard.

Touch-up paint: I noticed that the online ordering from the main Hyundai website doesn't show accessories for the Santa Fe yet, so call your dealership to see if they have some or can order some.

Auto-dimming mirrors don't come cheap, check out www.donnellye.com for some neat models.

It takes a real man to apologize for his errors.
so I here submit a motion to ask Richard4 to stay here and continue his productive contribution to this forum
Do I hear a second motion?

I think we should all agree to disagree on any and all posts placed on this board. We are all total strangers and have all lived our own experiences. Richard, I hope you don't go. Your opinions may not agree w/ everyone's but they are yours to give. I think we will all agree that you have had great input into the board.

The ONLY thing we all have in common is a love of our SF's. (Ok, sappy mom will now end her ranting post.) :-)
  • kbeckerkbecker Member Posts: 17
I'm pretty sure that combination is available because I have one. And mine wasn't the only LX model on the lot with ABS and 4WD.
  • krcooperkrcooper Member Posts: 14
I 'third the motion' Richard4 - don't leave this forum just because of your "warped sense of humor" and how it might be taken - I appreciate it - as I see others do here. We can all learn from each other here, so stick around!
Thanks for clarifying your position on the idea of a paint protection film for the Santa Fe, and my lead to the web site describing this product, and for suggesting others to make up their own minds about it. That's all I was after. Not to make you leave! You're all right in my book!
  • tulpenhamtulpenham Member Posts: 32
Richard, it was a very funny reaction to the Miracle-film post and I laughed about it too. I appreciate your sense of humour and your contributions to this forum. For me, it was pretty obvious that you made a joke about it. Hope to read more from you soon... it makes this forum even more interesting and enjoyable.

I just bought a 2WD LX with ABS in San Diego. It was hard to find and I had to wait for about two months, but it finally arrived.
By the way, I live in LA and am buying the car in San Diego, in part thanks to this board. Someone posted here that he got a Santa Fe from Drew Ford in San Dingo for $2000.00 off MSRP. I was convinced that the message was planted by the dealer, but called anyway.

Well, it's not $2000.00 off, and I still think it was a "plant" BUT the guy there was very straight-forward and easy to deal with. He promised that as soon as they get in a Santa Fe with ABS- I'll have the first "dibs" on it. The only condition was that I had to take the extras it comes with, which was OK, since you can't put too many things on the LX. I got the whole deal done over the Net/phone/FedEx, at $800.00 off MSRP. Had the car arrived in February - it would have been $1.000.00. The extras turned out to be: carpeted floor mats, crossbars and a rear organizer-tray. I wanted the first two anyway...
Going to pick it up this weekend.
Any suggestions and good wishes not necessary but appreciated.

Now,Richard, life is so boring without people with a robust sense of humor like yours! Besides, as useful as that Scotch Guard may be - it IS a funny idea... and as much as we love our present and future Santa Fes... we're talking about a car, not the discovery of Penicillin. So, come and lighten things up some more, would you?

    Hi all,
I recently bought a Black Obsidian Sante Fe 4wd with ABS/traction control and heated seats/electo mirror last week for $23,000K. But today I was in the Dominican Republic (1/2 hr flight from Puerto Rico and 2 hours from Miami), when I was surprised to see a 2001 Black Sante Fe LX on the lot of Magna Motors in Santo Domingo. THIS IS THE ONE WE SHOULD HAVE IN THE USA--it was fully loaded with 4wd and all LX features PLUS Standard ABS/Traction Control (as brochure stated), heated seats, electro dim mirror and much more!!: Good sized Factory Moonroof between top head of driver and leg level of back seat), Side Airbags (verified from the Hyundai brochure in Spanish I got at the dealer), Tripmeter (I guess) on top of vents in middle console on the dash (with barometic pressure, altimeter, and compass), mud flaps all around, and cross roof rails. Price was (with discount) $32,024 or 530,000 pesos. Yes this is high but new car prices in DR are historically about 35-50% more than USA due to customs duties and taxes. So, then I got mad--why the heck is Hyundai holding back on a key safety feature like side airbags for the USA market? I'd be willing easily to pay $3-4000 more for the extra features on the car I saw in the DR!!! I don't know why Hyundai would be holding back these features for the USA market or why they wouldn't offer these items as options. Do you think side bags or the Hyundai factory Moonroof be installed by a foreign dealer? Magna Motors seemed to have a good parts department and said they could get most items. Sorry all, but the "best of the best" fully loaded Sante Fe's don't get to the USA!!!They are being sent to other countries! (Though horsepower is stated at 179 @6,000 rpm for the unleaded gas Latin version though 181@6,000 rpm in our version. Leaded gas version states only 173@6000rpm)

There is a reputable shop here in Phoenix that has been installing sunroofs in new cars for dealers for over 20 years. I can get basic pop-off with two vent settings for around $350 or get fully electric one that slides back for around $750. Comes with life time warranty. Anybody have experience with the after markets? Will it affect my warranty. i reaaly want it but don't know which one would be better for the cost.....
  • tonyg6tonyg6 Member Posts: 48
Yep...they're holding back in the US. Why? I don't know. This guy on another board also mentioned his SF [in Europe] had all the luxuries you mentioned on a 4 cylinder to boot [sun roof, ABS, AWD, side air bags]. And he bought his back in November 2000.

Personally, I think Hyundai is being a little cautious in the US given a highly competitive SUV market. I'd give it to the end of the year before you start seeing the SF's come out with those extras. Don't forget, this was Hyundai's intro into the SUV market; and what better way to squash the competition than with attractive vehicles at VERY reasonable prices.
Who knows you might even see those options as soon as May/June whem the next wave is supposed to come. Regardless, I'm still very happy with my GL.

IMHO...had they added all those extras upon introduction, that would easily boost the prices by [possibly] 3-4K. That in turn might not have attracted such a large crowd since the price would then put you closer to competitors which have an established base and [I hate to say it] reputation. I can honestly tell you that if the SF was 3-4K more I probably wouldn't consider it despite how much I liked it. Hyundai has now established itself [in a very short span] as a real competitor in the SUV segment and should feel comfortable in introducing more features at the risk of increasing the vehicle price ;)

    Well...that's my 2 cents :)

I don't see why you can't believe that I was able to get my Santa Fe, LX, Loaded, for $2,000 UNDER MSRP. Why is this hard to comprehend? I have my purchase agreement, and it's all in black and white, and no, I'm not a "plant" for the dealer either, in San Diego, where you bought yours, and I bought mine from. Remember if you will, I bought mine in early November, when the dealer at the time had 12, yes, 12 Santa Fe's on their lot, and at the time, I could get my deal and my price and color! Just because you or someone else weren't able to get the same deal as me doesn't mean it wasn't possible. I was lucky enough and at the right place and at the right time. As you well know, they GENERALLY DO take off $1,000 from MSRP....well then? Back then in November, the Santa Fe wsa just "barely" coming onto the lots, and you know the San Diego dealer, DREW, has many at given times. I'm glad for you that you did get your Santa Fe, coming dwon from Los Angeles. I think that is great, and I'm glad I could help you out personally, via our few emails we've exchanged a few times...

I have over 5,000 miles on mine, and love it! I've decidd though, at the 7,500 mile service, when getting the oil change, tires rotated, balanced and aligned as well....I think I'm going to plopp down some money and get the Hyundai Wood Dash Trim they advertise in their catalogue, along with some mud-flaps/splash guards as well. I have the tan/beige leather interior on mine, so the wood grain dash trim will look sharp. I already have the wood dash trim steering wheel and it looks very elegant.

As for Richard, come back in here, and relax and stay awhile. Don't take things seriously and feel free to joke around, and share and talk Santa Fe with us all here. This is how we all learn, get ideas and talk Santa Fe. :-)

I have no problems with Hyundai offering the sunroof as an OPTION on the Sante Fe. I just don't want them to make it STANDARD an any of the trim levels. I am 6'-7" tall and have a tough time fitting into most vehicles. Cars that have a sunroof have between 1" and 2" less headroom than the same car without the sunroof. I can't get a vehicle with a sunroof because I don't have enough headroom with them in. I was disappointed to see the top of the line XG300 comes STANDARD with a sunroof. I feel that there is enough consumer demand for a sunroof so manufacturers should provide them as an option . . . but they should also provide all lines of the vehicle without the sunroof as well.

Sorry to sound like I am ranting but I have seen several vehicles that I liked the looks of and had the features I like (Acura MDX, Hyundai XG300 L, Mitsubishi Montero Limited, for example) but can't fit inside of them because they come STANDARD with a sunroof. If there are any car manufacturer reps lurking in these forums please take note. If you are going to offer a vehicle with a STANDARD sunroof, then also offer it as an option WITHOUT the sunroof. I might even be tempted to pay extra to get the vehicle WITHOUT the sunroof. Just my $.02

Well if the dealers did not know they had a hot seller on their hands, they do now. I just called by the Internet sales manager at Rick Case in Plantation, Fl. They claim to be the nation's second biggest Hyundai dealer and largest in terms of finance. I visited there the end of Feb. and they showed me an LX with a sticker price of $25K. When I groaned, the salesman said don't worry, we can get that for you at $21.7K because you went through Internet sales. When I called back today, the manager claimed there were only two on the lot. "I've got to get $1,500 over MSRP," he said. "I can't get the trucks." Well, as someone else said on this board a while ago, Hyundai dealers could be screwing themselves for short term profits. I doubt I'll ever do business with them again, even though you can't blame them for wanting top dollar. I guess I should have closed at the end of the month when they were trying to make their monthly quota. Still, I got the sense they planned to screw me all along. I'm going with a used Volvo instead. Ciao.

Can anyone explain to me what a moonroof is? I only know the term 'sunroof' and have never heard about a moonroof until I read it in the Santa Fe postings. Is a sunroof for daytime use and a moonroof for the night? ;) BTW, if there are any more types of roofs in the USA, tell me about them!
  • pro212pro212 Member Posts: 44
I agree with you tonyg6 that Hyundai was trying to come into the market below a certain price point, I guess to undercut a bit the Tribute/Escape? But when I costed everything out, the price on my USA Sante Fe LX loaded was only a bit less. I noticed that one magazine reviewer complained that the one thing about the Santa Fe was that unlike other Hyundai models, this one doesn't offer the usual "deep discounts" vis a vis competition. However, its interesting that in the Dominican Republic the fully loaded LX 4wd model with moonroof, standard ABS traction control, etc, is in great demand even though the $32000 price exceeds the local price for Honda CRV loaded by $2500. All I can say to Hyundai is "It would have been nice to have a little choice guys!!! We Americans are not dumber (about safety issues or world standard model issues) nor cheaper/penny pinchers than our Latin or European neighbors!!! One thing in the USA model favor is our warranty at 5/10 years while the DR warranty on all (including powertrain) is only 1 year (standard for cars sold in the DR!). Yet I have to admit--if I would have seen this Latin model first, I would have waited rather than buying this years model. Its seems to be a stupid company decision to have the 2001 model in Latin America as the 2002 model in the USA, unless they assume we Americans are dumb, cheap, or both (PS almost every SUV marketed in the USA is also marketed here including some additional models such as Toyota and Mitsu Montero medium size models equal in size to Sante Fe!!) tulpenham, I could be wrong but everyone I know refers to the prop-up or removeable tinted shades as "sunroofs" with the wide opening power slide back roofs as "moonroofs". Maybe there are USA regional or manufacturer name differences?

    OK ok ok ok.

Guy walks into a Hyundai dealer and finds the Santa Fe of his dreams. Everything is just what he’s been looking for and even the color is right.

He talks to the salesman, He goes for a test ride. The car is everything he’s always wanted in a car. He is ecstatic, he’s drooling and he’s beside himself and cannot believe his luck. The window sticker price is within his reach as well.

Back and forth between the salesman and the sales manager and finally he has the price of his dreams. $2,000 below MSRP for this Santa Fe and it’s loaded with every option imaginable. He is in love. Make that pure unadulterated lust!

The papers are ready to sign, he sits down and signs his name about fifteen times on copies and copies of papers.
Just as he’s about to sign the last, the very last paper and complete the sale and drive home in his new Santa Fe he notices an additional charge that wasn’t there before.

"What’s this?" he asks the sales manager.

"Oh that" he replies. "Well when we all heard you saying how much you loved the Santa Fe we wanted to make sure that you were safe. So if you love your Santa Fe as much as you say you do then that’s an additional charge of $310.00 for ..............................................................

    ( drum roll please!)

MIRACLE FILM! Protection for your Santa Fe!

Remember you all asked me to come back right?

    Richard,

"And I swear every word is true!" :-) NOT!

I want to thank all of you for your support and your understanding. Once again my sincere apologies to Ken for the misunderstanding. I have a sense of the absurd as you can see above but I really can't help it.
This is one really unbelievable group of wonderful people.

And no, I don't know the name of that dealer with the $2,000 under MSRP but he did leave this silver bullet.

Well today, my beautiful 2 month old silver Santa fe got plowed in the rear at a stop light! It did not damge the body but it looks like the who rear bumper will need to be replaced. I am just sick about it. A girl in a Mazda car hit me. Her car had the grill broken out and the hood up a couple on inches so I guess the SF help up well. The bumper is pulled away from t6he body at the top about 1/2 inch and is broken on one side. I do not see any bidy damage. My big worry now is how long will it take me to get a new bumper from Hyundai since they are behind in production. One good thing my dealer has its own body shop right beside it so they will be on top of it. The dealer is 45 miles away so that is a problem. Boy, I tried so hard to be careful where I park to prevent dings and such and she just runs right into me afet I have be stopped for a minute or so. I can say the SF is tough to not usffer and body daamge that I can see. On well, its just a car and can be fixed. I am find, just a little stiffness is the neck.

ok.. 808 miles and the check engine light came on tonight.

i read in the owners manual that if the gas cap isnt clicked at least 3 turns, the light will come on. there's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home...

so i checked it and it seemed tight. light still on.

turned the car off, then on again... still on.

going to see if the light comes on in the morning... if so, i'll be first in line at the dealership.. screw an appointment.

anyone else get this light under 1000 miles?

    thanks,
    keith
  • pro212pro212 Member Posts: 44
Could be the same thing which happened to my 2000Honda Accord at 300 miles. Light came on due to a gas attendant not being careful, then there was no way to get the damn light off. A quick Honda service took care of the problem and now at 16000 miles, never happened again. Don't despair, have faith man.

Glad you decided to stick with us, and continue giving we readers of the 'boards' your 2 cents worth. And if I was that guy getting hit with that extra $310 for the "Miracle Film", I might have gone for it. It's sure cheaper than the $800 needless undercoating my dealership tried to foist on ME! Or the $3000+ price on an extended warrantee. Etc. Etc.
Right now I just wish I had my Santa Fe back. I'm having withdrawal pains, I think. My SF has been in the shop for a week now just waiting for parts being shipped in from Hyundai (in Korea) to repair a non-functioning alarm system, power door locks & power windows. I hope the rest of you readers don't have to go thru this set of problems - all of which came on within 2 days - first the door locks, then the windows, and finally the alarm stopped working.
It's probably just one bad module, but I will let you know if there's anything that you can do to keep this stuff from happening to your Santa Fe. Meanwhile, I have to drive their loaner car - a 2001 Hyundai Elantra - which gets me there & back - but NO ONE gawks anymore!

    To George:

People think that I am weird, show off, etc...I have installed the front grill guard and the side steps. They look very nice but the rear bumper protector was out of question. My main reason installed the rear bumper protector is to prevent car hitting my rear and damage my rear bumper. Parking in San Francisco is crazy and often see people hit my front and my rear. I already have a dent on one side of my front chrome protector. Therefore, the chrome protector products from www.HDKautosport.com help me prevented from this problem. Just love the products and can't say much to share my point.

Now that my SF has been hit and needs a new rear bumper we will see how Hyundai will be in getting a part in. One of my worrries about going with Hyundai was something like this where you wait for monthsf for a part. We'll see and I'll let you all now.

    Hi Ken,

    You wrote.
<<It's sure cheaper than the $800 needless undercoating my dealership tried to foist on ME! Or the $3000+ price on an extended warrantee. Etc. Etc.>>

I thought that ALL vehicles came with undercoating from the factory anyway? What's that all about? Every book or magazine article I've read tells you NOT to go for the dealer undercoat as it can cause more trouble than it can prevent.
Is Hyndai different or is your dealer just a Putz?

The miracle film site does have one thing on it that i might be purchasing. Head light protection. That makes sense for me here in Love Bug infested Florida! Ya gotta see it to believe it and what a mess those little acidic suckers can make out of paint or plastic when they go splat at 65 mph. Keeps the paint and body shops in business thtough so it's not all bad.

The extended warrentee was also offered to me but for $1,100.00 if I bought it within 30 days of purchase. Needless to say I passed on that as well. Why would anyone need an extended warrentee on top of what they already give you? Unless of course like Bill you are using the vehicle for business.

What happened to your car anyway? I must have missed something along the way.

Went past my Hyundai dealer yesterday, Lot is Full of new Santa Fe's so maybe the draught is over. I didn't bother to stop as I was in a hurry to get to the pliumbing supply as I had just mowed the head off one of my lawn sprinklers. Old Faithful in Florida?

Anyway, I don't know what the actual cost of the complete Miracle film set is but I just used your price of $310.00 for the fun of it. Looks to me you did your homework damn well for the complete set. I just wonder if it turns yellow after a certain period of time or how long it's good for.

Off to lop of some more sprinkler heads!

    Cheers,
    Richard.

    Hey all,

I don't know if this will make the check engine light go off but it's worth a try and may save a trip to the dealer. I had a Mustang that had the light come on for some reason. I took it to the dealer to get it reset. Anyway I was told afterwards that all they do is unhook a battery cable for a couple of minutes and then rehook it. When my light came on again much later I tried it and it worked! Now if your engine really is in need of a check this is not something you would want to do frequently. But, if the light is on simply because of the gas cap not being tightened to at least 3 clicks you may want to try it. Remember though that once you do this you'll have to reset your clock and radio stations.

I am around the Atlanta, GA area and am looking for a GLS with 4WD and traction control. According the one dealer I contacted they are stating that only about 5% of that model will be shipped to US and have that combination. Does that sound right???? Of course I took it as an attempt to get me to purchase what they had which was only 2wd versions.

    Looking for any thoughts.

    Thanks

I've posted several times on this board about my situation. I "ordered" a black GLS w/ ABS second week of January with a promise from the dealer that they would get me the vehicle within a week. 8 weeks later still no vehicle. After repeated calls I finally asked to speak with the sales manager who surprisingly said he thought the salesman had told me weeks ago that he couldn't get me the vehicle, for me to get my deposit back (like he didn't know my deposit was still there!). Before doing so he did a vehicle locate and found another dealer who had one. When I called this other dealer they had the vehicle I wanted all right but for a price $2100 over the price I agreed upon.

I'm so turned off by this whole experience and unless the vehicle comes in by April I'm going to get my deposit back and start my search all over again. For a company that has struggled to gain the confidence of the American market I am absolutely shocked that they're treating potential new customers this way. I work in sales and the one thing we are told time and time again is to treat each customer fairly because when you "screw" a customer assume they'll tell a dozen people who in turn tell a dozen people, you get the picture.

In my search last month over 3 states and about 30 dealers, I never found a GLS 4wd with ABS/traction. I did find several GLS 4 wd without ABS/traction and with heated seats/electro mirror. I think that Hyundai is following the Toyota/Honda practice of bundling many desired options only with the top of the line LX model. Toyota is presently doing the same with the Highlander. If you want a car soon, you may wind up doing what I did and getting an LX with ABS/traction and heated seats/electro mirror. I decided on this after comparing prices (about 8-900 more for the LX compared to GLS similarly equipped) and the fact that the leather seats had much better, firmer lateral support and will probably hold up better over time. My LX equipped this way and with carpeted mats was sold delivered (before tax) for $23000. A pretty good deal I believe, all things considered.

One month ago, I ordered a Nordic White LX with 6 cylinders, 4WD, Traction Control, Leather Seats, Heated Seats, and ALL the other options making it FULLY LOADED.
I ordered the car exactly 1 month ago. I just called the dealer today where I ordered my car to inquire about when it will be coming in and they told me that there are NO Santa Fe LX models with the 6 cylinder, 4WD/Traction Control and all the other options which I request in the NORDIC WHITE color. He said that it is a RARE color up here with the options which I requested. The Hyundai Regional Manager up here in the Northeast said that there are currently no Nordic White Santa Fe's in this color at the port in New Jersey with the "Fully Loaded" options which I request. He said that NONE in this Nordic White color has ever come into the port up here in New Jersey with the 4WD/Traction Control, Leather in the LX model. He said that he never seen one in Nordic White with the 4WD/Traction control in leather. He said that it is a rare color with these options.
I live in New England and would like to know if anybody else up here is having the same problem. I only see the LX in the Black and Silver colors at the dealer with the options which I want. I personally do not like Black because it shows scratches easy and is hard to keep clean. And the Silver is too plain.
Nordic White shows the rest of the colors of the vehicle and it looks really nice and that's why I like it more than any other color.
I want to know if anybody here knows "WHEN" there will be any "NORDIC WHITE" LX Santa Fe's with the 6 cylinder, 4WD and Traction Control with the Leather and Heated seats AVAILABLE here at the Port in New Jersey for the New England area. Will I be waiting many months for this color and the options which I want? I DO NOT want any other color except Nordic White. Please Help me with any information which you may know about the Nordic White color availability with the 4WD/Traction control. I told the dealer that I wanted one directly from the port fresh off the boat. I do not want one to be located from another dealer. I also found out from the dealer that NONE of the Hyundai dealers here in New England have the Nordic WHite LX model which I want with the options listed above (6 cylinder, 4WD, Traction Control, Leather, Heated Seats). They only have the Black and Silver ones with the loaded option which I want.
Please help me with telling me how I can find out "WHEN" a Nordic White LX with 4WD and traction control with Leather will be available. Why is this color so RARE? Please Help me.

This is strange gtmustang. I've seen mostly Black and Sandstone in my search and once Blue. Never white. The only white I saw in New England was 2wd. (I don't know if it matters but the white loaded Mazda Tribute is least favorite, I've been told by dealers). I believe that although the 3 most popular world colors are silver, black, and white, white is historically not popular in New England because of muddy and dirty conditions in winter, fall, sometimes spring. I do know that Hyundai is trying to ship based on assumed regional preferences for models and options (Now none or almost no 4wd in Florida for example with New England getting most 4wd), but are they doing this with color? If so, you would be more likely to find your white one in Colorado, Nevada, California, maybe North Carolina or South Carolina. Rather than kill yourself searching in the Northeast, buy one by telephone or internet in another state and get it transported to you. Miami to Northeast is about $500, North Carolina or South Carolina could be less. Or, you'll just have to wait and search (I once searched for three years for just the right classic car, when I found it and bought it, it was all the sweeter. Good luck pal! PS With good wax, black doesn't show much scratches or dirt. Think about it cause I think black is the best classy color for a loaded SUV.

There are no LX 4WD, Traction Control Nordic White Colored Santa Fe's with Leather up here in New England. The regional manager of Hyundai up here told the dealer that there are NONE at the port in New Jersey. He has NEVER seen any LX's with the 4WD,Traction control and leather options come in at the port in New Jersey.
I would like to know if somebody here might know exactly how long before the Nordic White LX with the 4WD, Traction control and Leather options arrive here in the Port in New Jersey for the New England area. It is ridiculous that the only colors that they have with these options are Silver, Black and Red. WHAT ABOUT NORDIC WHITE?!! I Like the Nordic White. Does anybody know WHEN this color in the LX will be here? PLEASE HELP ME.

I am looking to get a "FULLY LOADED" Nordic White Santa Fe LX here from my dealer in New England but directly from the port in New Jersey. These Santa Fe's are shipped to the port directly from Korea and then put on trucks and delivered to the dealers here in New England. As far as I know, the Regional Hyundai sales Representative for my New England area has said that he has "NEVER" seen a Nordic White Santa Fe LX with the 4WD, Traction control and the Leather options which I am looking for. They only have the Santa Fe with these options in other colors like Black and Silver.
I would like to know if anybody here KNOWS WHEN the Nordic White LX Santa Fe's with 4WD, Traction Control and Leather will be available at the port here in New Jersey for the New England Hyundai dealers. This is the ONLY COLOR which I like and want to get. I do not know why Hyundai has not shipped any Nordic White LX's with these options up here in my area. This is causing me to worry that I will never be able to get the color choice that I want fresh off the boat from the Port in New Jersey. That's what I want.
Will there be more of these vehicles available in NORDIC WHITE with the options that I request (LX model with 4WD, Traction Control and Leather) in the next few weeks. Does anybody here know? I need to know about how long more I would be waiting for the Nordic White LX with the options I listed above.
Please HELP ME. Does anybody here know anything about the availability of the Nordic White LX with the 4WD, Traction Control and leather package? I really want a Nordic White LX with 4WD, Traction Control and Leather. When will they be coming in from Korea to the Port in New Jersey? I also need to know WHEN the next Santa Fe LX shipments from Korea are due into the New Jersey port from Korea and if any of these shipments will have the "FULLY LOADED" Nordic White LX Santa Fe which I requested with the option package that I want.
Please try to help me find out this information.
