Any dealer can order genuine accessories for you...all Hyundai parts and accessories come from the Hyundai parts distribution centers...

Hyundai recommends 3M Perfect-It Show Car Paste or Liquid Wax and Meguiar's Yellow Wax to dealerships. Valugard's stuff is also listed in the TSB(99-99-001), but I don't think they are available at retail stores.

This may be true about any dealership but it is a option for people like me who have dealerships in their area that have no clue on what it is or what parts numbers are and are generally unwilling to help you.Besides, this dealership was giving 15% off the brochure price and it only cost $3.50 to ship it and their distribution center had them in stock guarenteed.

I don't known if because I'm not luck with the Santa Fee or that's how the Hyundie car should be, I purchased the Santa Fee last Dec 21 of 2K, after a few days I felt Hyundai can make some good car too, but too soon to tell, about 16 days later the whole engine just blow, I thought I was die in the car, I don't know what's happening the engine just broke into little pieces when I was driving on highway at about 62 mph, but lucky I have Hyundie Road side assistant, call them at 7:32PM and I waited for about 1:30 hours at night when the temp. about 20F, too cold so I have to call another Tow truck and took it back to Rick Case where I bought it from and about 11:30PM The Hyundie Road side assistant call and check with me where I'm at???. That's fine and at Rick Case, the process to give me another Santa Fee took over 3 weeks, not yet after I got the another one I found out the Gas tank seem like too small, so I called in to make an appointment for service and it took me 3 week later before they can work on it, then another thing happened, one night when I was cruising on highway suddenly the Gas needle (Gas gauge) just dropping so I pulled over and jumped out of the car went to the back see if the gas tank was leaking? but not, so I got back inside and restart after that the gas gauge just jumped back and forth and I have no any idea how much gas I have left...... Then I have a car for service and it took another 3 weeks plus they have to have some engineers from Hyundie came down to work together, until the day I pick up the car the Gas tank still the same thing so I came back and this time they said they will refund my money.
So if you think you will have more luck than me just try one then you'll understand otherwise please stay away from Hyundie Santa Fee or you'll end up drive the rental car and have to make the payment for something stay in shop at all time.

Sure sorry to hear about all your problems with the Santa Fe. Sure appears to me that you got one of those with the wrong pressure applied in the wrong places. Appears they over pressurized the engine causing it to blow up and I would bet they didn't pressurize the gas tank at all, causing it to be too small. And who knows, without the exhaust pressurized, none of the burn gases would have came out. That too would contribute to the engine blowing. Good thing you got your money back on this vehicle, because they could have the air for the left tires in the right side and vice versa. That could have caused the vehicle suddenly reverse directions and needless to say very dangerous. And if the air bags had been reversed pressurized as well, one could have been sucked into the steering column never to be seen again. Best of luck finding a vehicle with the proper pressures applied in the right places.

    Historically when does Hyundai;

1). Stop making current year vehicles (ie; when will the Korean plant's stop making 2001 Santa Fe)

2). When do the next year models arrive @ Dealers?

Rationale here is being the wait is 12 - 14 weeks, should a person wait for the 2002 model Santa Fe?

    Thanks.
  • richardr4richardr4 Member Posts: 49
    You got it nailed perfectly.

First thing you should always do is fill the gas tank with HIGH TEST gasoline to make certain that it expands completely! They ship them semi inflated to save space on the container ships.
Now the engine is something else again and more than likely they added unpressurized oil at the dealership. Without that the engine runs at a negative pressure and the crankcase will more than likely spit out the main bearings.
Counter rotating tires are a real serious problem as well. Imagine the horror of having your car in for service only to learn that they put the tires on backwards while driving down the freeway! You ever try steering using only your rear view mirror? 65 may be the top limit but as the engine blew at 62 I'd say it was classic fuel filter reverse pressure to the catalytic converter. The unburned gases ( I'm guessing here) probably migrated to the tires and caused them to suddenly reverse.
You can easily check this yourself before you leave the dealership. Just try reading the sidewalls of the tires and if the words Bridgestone or Firestone are spelled backwards request that they take them off and put them on the right way. The numbers don't matter or affect handling in anyway.
The service call was probably delayed because it was after dark and everyone knows that pay phones, cell phones, and CB radios are afraid of the dark and some have even been known to lock up. I'd say that it was darn lucky that the service call got through at all.
Be very careful of reverse window tinting also. I've seen what this one can do and it's even worse at night when everything turns to daylight when you least expect it. Now this normally occurs at or around sunrise I've noticed so maybe it's not a Hyundai problem. I'll check into it and post more information here when I can.
Now where did Hyundai hide that can of "Fix a good tire?" Must be under the pressurized front floor mat on the passenger side, unless you have the British version and themn that would explain everything. The missing steering wheel for instance.
Glad the gent got his money back however as everyone knows that Hyundai and Alan Greenspan are working together to keep the economy well pressurized.

Happy motoring, your mileage may vary slightly.

Hey dtruong8 in LA, if you want to price Santa Fe's just go to Drew-Auto.com and look at sticker prices on their inventory. They will send you a quote in 2 hours. I bought there (San Diego) at $1,000 off sticker.

When is the 2002 model hitting the US market? Does anyone know what changes to expect in both price and features?

Had my Santa Fe GLS 4WD since October and she has 9,000 miles on her so far. What problems have I had - The Cd player would stop if you played it for 1.5 hours but the radio would work. The dealer replaced it and I haven't had a problem since then. That has been the only problem. I love my Santa Fe. I love it so much I used to visit the Edmunds BB everyday and post but things have been busy with my life so I can't visit as often.

If you are looking for pictures of my Santa Fe go to www.geocities.com/adamjrae I have many pictures of the inside of my GLS 4WD Santa Fe along with scans of the 2001 accessory catalog. If you have any questions please email me at adamjrae@austin.rr.com rather than post on the BB. I can't visit every day.

Yes, this is certainly unfortunate. I sincerely hope that the next time you buy you check to make sure the vehicle wasn't built in reverse. Sometimes those who assemble read the manual backwards and this creates the problems you have. This has happened with other vehicles including the 003 suxeL, and the rednifhtaP nassiN! It's easy to spot though. Look to make sure that the back name plate says eF atnaS iadnyH and you will know that the one for the U.S.A. is assembled correctly. It has to do with the rotation of the earth in conjunction with the rising sun. Don't worry, be happy! Only buy vechicles built during the full moon and when the sun is traveling east to west and you will be all set.
  • richardr4richardr4 Member Posts: 49
    LOL! ROTFLMAO!!

You have to keep a stiff upper lip AND a good sense of humour to survive here don't you?

Now I never took the earth's rotation into account. But I suspect strongly that you're on to something there.

That is exactly what happens to people who read magazines back to front as well!
Thanks mate! You made my night!

Well everyone, I thought this day would never get here. But I am an official owner of the new Santa Fe! I got it in my fav color (black), in the trim level I wanted (GL), and with the package I wanted (sports utility). Now I pretty much have the GLS minus the V6 engine, which isn't really even necessary down here in sunny Florida! (West Palm to be exact). So I saved a whole bundle there. I was a little disappointed in the price (they had it marked up almost $2000, because the car was hot! I knew they weren't lying-- everytime I passed by the dealer, the Santa Fe's would be there a max of 3 days. So, I grabbed this one while I could.
I am also very happy with the service so far. I went to add the fog lights in the front (since the GL doesn't have them) and they are charging me $200 for parts AND installation! Is this a good price? I thought so, and I hope this is how much most parts will run! Well anyways, I plan on hooking this thing up! I am a 22 year old college student, and so far it seems that mostly older adults are buying these things, but I want to be the first in my area to have a classy hooked up Santa Fe. Anyone have any ideas?

Spoke today with a good friend at the Hyundai dealer here in town and he said that 65% of the production went to Elantra and the remaining were allocated between Accent, Sonata and Santa Fe. From a post in the Sedan forum, Hyundai has or will take steps to increase production of the Santa Fe to meet a greatly unexpected surge of popularity for the vehicle.
  • f16crewchieff16crewchief Member Posts: 17
This is not meant to be offensive to those older than hyundairacer and myself.
I am 23, and it sounds like our tastes are very similar. Mine is Crystal Blue though. They rest is identical. I also added Fog Lights right away. I paid about 190 so 200 seems fair. I also added a brushed aluminum dash kit to mine. I plan on hooking my SF up when I return from Italy.
In response to Post #1296 by pro212
I am in the midst of bringing my SF overseas to Italy. I called Hyundai USA before my purchase with the same concerns. I was initially concerned that taking it out of the country would void the warranty entirely! Hyundai USA basically gave me the same answer. They told me that it would be on me to get any repairs done(out of my pocket.) I could then send them the receipts and a letter stating what happened and they would then decide if they wanted to reimburse me or not. I agree, sounds kinda risky. But I had to be the first to have a Santa Fe(american spec) here in Italy. So I took the plunge. I hope it doesn't backfire. (no pun intended)
    Ciao...

Read post #875. I had engine blow too and I explain it in that post. Also, a few posts past that is someone else. So far new engine fine at 3700 mi., but tranny starting to slip when I go from reverse to forward, and I don't throw it into gear. I shift gently and normal. And I never come close to redlining.

According to the Hyundai brass,2002 Sante Fe's should arrive sometime in late Sept/early Oct.No word on changes yet.As I have posted in the past, the real reason for the shortage is V6 and AWD system production cannot keep up with demand. An addition to the V6 plant is due to come online by mid/late March and should ease the shortage somewhat, but not until late May/June.Santa Fe's,as far as I know, are built in a separate plant and therefore, Elantra production shouldn't have any bearing on Sante Fe unless they share a common component that is in short supply.

I currently have a 16 pieces of wood dash made out of www.flautotrim.com with the real wood and they carried the best color and quality in the market. I choose the type look exactly in the 2001 Acura MDX. It kind of change color when you look at different angle. From light red to deep red and to black. "I order the 16 pieces at www.dashcover.com"! Florida Auto Trim is the manufacture, therefore I have to contact straight with the manufacture.

I have just recently send another 20 more pieces of sketch for them to make for the Santa Fe. Yes! I have measure draw all of these pieces and it takes me almost 1 week to finish it up.

In the future, My car will have 36 pieces total.

I hope that everyone will be able to purchase the total of 36 pieces in the future as well. I will confirm and share this information with everyone when the designer approve his "word".

hung0820- you talk about having this sweet santa fe... let's see some photos... email me your address and i will send you a $7 disposible camera so you can take some photos of it. send it back to me, i will develop the photos, scan them and post them to the web for ya! haha

what color interior do you have?

also, as a web designer, i have to say thier site (www.flautotrim.com ) while flashy, does nothing but annoy me since i am there to get to the meat of the site, not wait for interfaces to load.... add to that the fact that they don't even list the Santa Fe dash.

SOOOOOOO... if ANYONE has pics of a wood dash on a beige interior santa fe PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE... let me know...

I came very close to buying a Santa Fe a month or so ago. It seemed to have everything I wanted in my new car and have it all at an incredibly reasonable price. Shortly before I was about to pull the trigger, I stumbled across the MPV site. Long story short, I bought the MPV and have been completely happy about my decision.

Nostalgia brought me back to this site tonight, and as I read through the posts, I had to laugh out loud. I could have been reading the MPV site. It seems that Hyundai and Mazda buyers have stumbled onto vehicles that inspire an almost cult-like devotion. I know I feel that way about my MPV. For laughs, go over to the MPV site and compare the level of enthusiasm there to here. They're practically identical.

Hope you all enjoy your Santa Fe's for many many years -- sounds like a great car so far.

    RE:posting 1318 from f16crewchief
Seems like we got the same story from Hyundai NA. Now lets see if the warranty is honored through the reimbursement process. Can I suggest we post our overseas warranty experiences here as time goes on? It may give us more clout in any reimbursement practices or discrepancies with Hyundai NA. Guess this Hyundai reimbursement plan is better than nothing--as happened to me before with new BMW and Nissan cars I purchased before in the USA and transported to Latin America for my work. BMW/LA would only honor a one year warranty on European procured cars-no exception. Nissan/NA warranty is void if vehicle moved overseas. Same on my questioning of Mitsubishi/North America since I previously was set on purchasing a new Montero before deciding on the Sante Fe (SF with less interior room but much better price, handling, gas mileage, and NA warranty). By the way, I was set to purchase a Montero XLS with 12,000 miles for $24,500 before I test drove a new SF LX 4wd with ABS/traction control and heated seats which I bought for $23,000. The handling on the Montero was bad and gas mileage at 14-15 combined was very weak. Heard that Montero had known auto transmission and brake wear out problems in part due to its heavy weight at 4600 lbs. In any case, I decided to forego the Montero extra cargo and passenger room for a much better driving and more economical SF. Yet Montero is a nice looking vehicle and supposedly, quite durable overseas. Anyone go through a similar decision process with the Montero? Other question, which brush guard looks best and provides durability but low weight addition to the SF? All things considered, is it best to add or not add a brush guard to the Sante Fe? (Some additional gain in front end protection (??) but additional weight and cost and perhaps interference with the front airbag system (unless the guards come eventually come from Hyundai accessories, I think no aftermarket mfr. can guarantee absence of airbag interference? What do you know about this? Best regards to all!

Just a reminder to all you new car owners. It is only natural as you drive your new SF for the first 5k you will burn oil as the new piston rings have to "seat". I have had mine for a month and I checked the oil and transmission fluid and both needed topping off.
  • hung0820hung0820 Member Posts: 426
Yes! At www.flautotrim.com you can NOT view the Santa Fe layout woodtrim but at www.autodash.com you can. However, at autodash.com, you have to purchase them separately in order to get the total of 16 pieces. They sell them separately in 3 parts such as Main, Doors, and Overhead Console. ***Try to select Florida Auto Trim from www.autodash.com and you will see all of the high quality color they carried.***** I think the best color is the RED WALNUT BURLWOOD.

I am still waiting for my Sport Roof Rack, Body Fenders, and the A/V Stereo System to install in my Santa Fe first before I take picture and post in my website. Expected these items to come within 10 days.

I am in the process of making the A/T Climate Control and the Trip Computer to work in USA. I am doing this project with a technical guy in Korea at Hyundai manufacture. You can see some of the examples of my project simply visit my site at www.y2kcatalogs.com/santafe.

Please notice that on one of the picture you will see that I have installed the "White Face Gauge" on my car already.
  • hyundaimahyundaima Member Posts: 197
Hi, I just checked the photos on your site...the thing you call trip computer looks like the "multimeter" on Korean model. The "multimeter" displays barometric pressure, altitude(relative/absolute), bearing, and animated segment LEDs for vehicle speed...not really useful except the compass... it's not a trip computer that shows total miles, miles-to-empty, etc.
  • hung0820hung0820 Member Posts: 426
Yes! The digital multimeter system was call in Korea but in US call Trip Computer. The animated segment LEDs for speed base on Kilometer, not mileage. Simply look at the Mile/KM to check out the right Mile. However, it also have the Outside Temperature feature as well as the MPG calculation as per the TECH guy told me in Korea. There is a plenty of features displays on this Trip Computer but I really want to see how it looks and work when things are done.

The only features that I like for this computer is the OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE, MPG CALCULATION, & THE COMPASS. The rest of the other features I don't really need it.

I just found out that some of colors in the Santa Fe was called different in Korea. Please be alert if you order stuffs from Korea with the color code: See Below for Detail:

    Touchup Paint:
USA on the Left and Korea on Right.
Sandstone = Ocher Beige Part#00253-71000(DV code)
Black Obsidian = Ebony Black #00253-11000 (EB)
Warm Gray = Warm Gray #00253-71000(GL)
Cool Gray = Cool Gray #00253-71000 (HC)
Pewter = Smart Silver #00253-11000 (LS)
Nordic White = Noble White #00253-11000 (NW)
Light Silver = Light Silver #00253-71000 (PE)
Pine Green = Pine Green #00253-71000 (PQ)
Merlot = Cerise Red #00253-71000 (RH)
Crystal Blue = Breezy Blue #00253-71000 (VB)

    Double (2 Tones) color belonging:
Obsidian have Cool Gray body cladding.
    Sandstone *Warm Gray*
Copper Orange *Warm Gray* (no touchup paint avail)
    Pewter *Cool Gray*
    Merlot *Cool Gray*
    Nordic White *Light Silver*
    Crystal Blue *Cool Gray*
    Pine Green *Cool Gray*

As you can see I only like the Light Silver and ONLY Nordic/Noble White Santa Fe is available. If other color have Light Silver Cladding then I would have purchase a different car color already.

Has anyone found a black brushguard similar to MANIK style? Is the brushguard labeled OEM at hdkautosports.com really a Hyundai product? All in all, what are advantages/disadvantages of adding a guard? Which one looks best on the actual vehicle?
  • hyundaimahyundaima Member Posts: 197
I checked the "multimeter" pictures again on a Korean site and now I'm certain what you got is the gadget on top of the center fascia in the Korean model. It has only the 4 functions I listed...

I have a trusted friend at Rick Case dealership near Ft. Lauderdale who swears to me that in the 7 or so months they have been selling Santa Fe, there has been no engine blow-ups nor any really serious problems. They sell more SF than anyone else in Florida. Could the guy who claimed it happened to him care to step forward and give exact details? or, Could he be an enthusiast of a different car and is trying to scare us?

He's just another FAKE who wants to rowl up prospective buyers of the Santa Fe. Santa Fe is doing very well and many competitors don't like it. They want to smaer the reputation of the Santa Fe so they come in here and rag on it. I am glad that you are monitoring idiots like this who come in here and try to say false things about the Santa Fe. Soon Hyundai will be screwing the competition when they take business away from them. This is starting to happen as we speak. Horray for Hyundai!!

My SF is reaching 3000 miles. So, looks like I need to change the engine oil. But here on the board, a lot of people talked about the oil filter and the type of engine oil. Most likely, I will bring SF to a local shop like Wal-mart or Kensuke or firestone. Is there anything I need to tell them? If anybody has changed oil through a local shop, is there any worry or concern?

Also, I read about the scheduled maintenance. Does anybody do that through the Hyundai dealership? I think that it would cost a lot if the Hyundai dealership does that. Did anybody do the scheduled maintenance yet?

    Thanks.
  • gtmustanggtmustang Member Posts: 41
DO NOT bring your Santa Fe to anyone else for oil changes and service except to the dealer. Places like Firestone, Jiffy Lube, ect. will mess up the car. I know many people who own new cars that took them to places like this and they got them back with problems. Go to the dealer for ALL service for this vehicle. You will not regret it. They use Hyundai Parts. other places DO NOT.

I think you need to be changing your oil at the 7,500 mile as your warranty indicates, UNLESS you're doing heavy, driving, etc... My car just turned 5,000 miles yeterday, and I'm not due until 5/4/01, or 7,500 miles which ever comes first. This is what my delaer told me the day I bought my car in November, and what the Warranty /Maintenace manual indicates as well.

If you do change the oil, you better stick with your routine mainetance for the 3,000 mile service, but you can keep going until you reach 7,500 miles. Your car will be fine. I know I'm doing this by the book and will bring my Santa Fe to the dealer at 7,500 miles for the service, as well as tires roatated, wheels aligned andbalanced, etc... Good luck, but stick with your maintenance recommendations in your manual.

I have had my Santa Fe since mid December and already have put 10,200 miles on her! I have made one round trip from Florida to Alabama and 2 round trips from Florida to Indiana/Ohio.

I had the "flickering clock" problem and that was fixed right away. Once, and only once I had the gas gauge needle drop from half a tank to empty. No kidding. Looked at the gauge one minute and all was fine, the next minute she showed empty. I kept an eye on it as it s.l.o.w.l.y. came back up to where it should have been. It has not happened again and I will not concern myself with it unless it happens again. Those have been the only problems with my SF.

I have added the chrome "nerf bar" type step rails, front and rear mud guards, bug deflector, window visors and a carbon fiber dash kit. I am waiting on my chrome brush guard to be shipped as the first one they sent me was defective and I sent it back.

I have had more troubles with the added accessories than the SF itself. First of all I initially ordered the chrome step rails from a company that has been mentioned on these boards many times. They sent the wrong ones. I e mailed them and complained and because of my concern they sent me the window visors free of charge. I ended up selling those rails to a person on-line. I then ordered my chrome rails again from them and they arrived along with my window visors. I ordered the brush guard as well, and when I opened the box I found one of the rubber covers that hides the weld marks had been torn. So I called the company and they have arranged to have the thing picked up and will send me a new one. I must say that the guy I have always spoken to has been very nice to me but it gets very frustrating to have to deal with that crap every time I order something from them.

I ordered my 15 piece dash kit from a company in Canada because it covered that space below the dash vents that the other kits do not cover. All was well until I opened the box and realized that my kit still did not have that piece. When I called the company to ask about it I was told they cannot make that particular piece in carbon fiber materials but they DO make it with the wood kit. That piece was one of the major reasons I purchased from him! I explained this to the person I spoke to and all I got was an "I'm sorry" response. I also told him they should inform their consumers if they cannot make a particular piece in certain materials even though their diagrams show that piece. Will never order anything from them again, period. And after I received the kit I saw that it actually came from somewhere here in Florida where I live. I would have been better off ordering it directly from that company if I had known beforehand. Still I am happy with my dash kit. It does cover more of the center console than any other kit I have seen. It also has pieces for the upper dash defroster vents that look really sharp! Since my SF interior is gray I thought the carbon fiber in black best suited my tastes over the wood grain styles.

I am still amazed at the looks I get each and every day while driving my SF. I get stares, gawks, looks, questions, you name it. It feels really good too I might add!

If anyone cares to see some pictures of my SF or the accessories I have added please feel free to I mail me at Fitnessman42@aol.com.

Kengiljunll,I took my SF in to the dealer for the 3000mi oil change. It cost $19.95 and took 45 minutes on a busy Saturday. Don'T screw around with Wal Mart or other cheap deals, you will end up paying a lot more in the long run. Also, if you are doing a lot of city driving change that oil every 3000 mi. I have always done that and the '81 buick with 216,000 miles on it, that I traded in for the SF, still ran great and had no major troubles. I find that the dealer is about the same in price as a good garage.

    I'll second that!
Never go anywhere other than your dealer for an oil change. They know how to service the car and if they don't they will take care of any problems that they might cause.
The other places are fine for the most part but I still rememebr a time when they removed and installed drain plugs in the crankcase with an air wrench. I think it was on certain Honda's that the threads wre stripped out every time and the plug would fall out when you least excpected it. Needless to say , an ounce of preventiion is worth a pound of cure. We're talking about aluminum here, not american iron.
How much are you saving by not going to Hyundai anyway? If one dealer gets a high price call another and see what they get for the same thing. Shop around, it's your money.

Can you get those front side window deflectors for a SF? The help stop the windnoise when the wnidows are down and look good too.

Thye manual does say 7500 miles per change which is unusal. I do mostly country road driving, some city so i plan to change at 5000 miles instead. I want to go to the dealer for the work but he is 45 miles away and 3000 miles comes so quick. I always changed at 3000 miles on my other cars but Hyundai say 3000 miles only if you are towing a lot, all city, etc. They should know. I may even go 7500 but will try for 5000.

That's really not too unusual with new cars, for the "normal" duty schedule. "Heavy" duty is generally 1/2 that. (My Nissan oil replacement schedule is 7,500 normal, 3,750 miles for "extreme" contitions). Lots of argument as to whether the extended intervals are good for the engine though.

RE: Oil Changes. I know it's a personal thing but you can practically change the oil on a SF with only one knee on the ground so you might want to do it yourself. Thanks to great oil sales at the local Kragen auto parts store (Havoline & Quaker State for about $.59 qt with rebate - I have two cases of each in 'inventory' now) and quality filters (AC Delco etc.) for $2.00 at WalMart you can change your own for about $5 and 5 minutes. It's not exactly rocket science so anybody can do it and you know it's done right. An acquaintance told me about a buddy that used to get him new Ford filters - from cars they didn't actually change the filter on at his dealership! So, don't necessarily assume your buying extra quality or whatever at a dealer!

RE: The flickering clock when the turn signal is on. Mine does it also but thought I would just wait until something else came up. What was the fix? A new clock or ?? It doesn't seem to be hurting anything (yet!).

RE: Fuel Mileage. With about 3500 miles on my FWD LX I'm getting about 20 in town, 23 mixed and 27-28 strictly highway. Not too bad in my book.

RE: Fill up time. This is my major beef (only one actually) with the SF. The only way to get an accurate fill-up is to keep pumping the thing until it spews out of the top - not onto the car, just over the little flapper deal. My rough guesstimate is that it first 'clicks off' at about 1 1/2 gallon shy of full. I lucked into a non-local station once that had a real slow fill rate and it was great! It was actually full when it clicked off. Anyone have a better way?

RE: Get up and Go. I don't know about anyone else, but the FWD SF has plenty of zip in my opinion! Sure, it may not whip a 200HP Tribscape but, with the 5 recalls for the Escape and 6 for the Tribute who cares? Besides, for when was the last time you raced either one at a stoplight?

Bottom line: After over 3 months/3500 miles I still love the thing and feel as though I got a bargain!
