i didn't get the leather option because there were none in stock...

the salesman told me that it was possible to order the leather seats from the dealer and they wil install them... all this for about $1500

    sounds pretty steep to me...

i have pulled many a set of seats out of a car so i am wondering if i bought the seats from them and swapped 'em out myself (or had my brother do it at his garage and write me up a receipt) would that void any warrantees?

then the question becomes.... what do i do with the extra seats. haha.

anyone got a connection at a dealer that can get me a price/availability on the beige leather seat set?

I can relate to your anguish over the so-called "order" deal. I went through that nonsense in my early years when I knew nothing about how some dealers operate. My first experience was with Toyota. My first new car was a Celica and of course I was very excited. The dealer gave me a fantastic price and told me although they didn't have one on the lot the would "order" one for me and I should have it within a week.

Well...1 week went by, then 2, then 3, then 4. Finally, I got my deposit back, went to a delaer who had one on the lot and bought it. If they haven't delivered as promised they have defaulted on there promise of delivery and you are entitled to your deposit [unless you signed some document where there is some fine print which states you are not]. In my case with Toyota, they were trying to "low-ball" me i.e. offer me a price on something they probably never expected and hoped I would settle for something else.

As someone mentioned in earlier posts, if they have it on the lot you're in a realistic buying position otherwise good luck. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on promises. They either have or they don't. If a dealer promises you they will swap with another dealer to get you the car, fine; but if they don't get by the time they promised move on. Also, never leave large deposits. If they're sincere in their efforts $50.00 would do [yes I've left that much as deposit in the past].

One thing one Toyota was also known for was adding some currency fee at the time of pickup. Basically, you bought the car for x dollars and if you were to pick up the car a few days later you'd find they casually added a currency charge to cover a so-called adjustment to the Yen. They claimed the Yen had lost market value and they had to pass the additional cost to the customer [usually around 300.00]. What a racket.

Anyway, I just bought my SF 2 weeks ago. I was at the dealer this weekend 2/24/01 and they had 2 Merlot GL [I believe 1 stick/1 auto], 1 Pewter 4WD V6 [I believe GLS] and 1 Black GL 5 speed. The dealer is in north central NJ.

I don't know where you live, but if you're interested drop me an email.

    Hang in there...you'll get one!

2002 Sante Fe should be out in mid Sept. No word on new features as of yet. Yes, leather seats can be added. The two companies we use actually remove the seats, strip off the cloth, and reupholster them,so you are using the factory frames and padding.$1500.00 is high-should be able to get it done for around $1100.00.

Thanks for responded to my skipping CD posted. Thanks billtung, I know you or anyone can not help me out unless I help myself, that's true but your comments and suggestions certianly help me out.I know it can not be my CD disks. Because I just got these CD new and beside that when I listened to it at my stereo inside the house it sound pefect and no skipping at all. It happened to all of my CD disks. So it can't be it. But as I wiped the CD disk and warm up the car, the problems seem to go away but sometime it came back. That's y it is hard to determine that if its the CD Player bad or is its the cold weather causing it. Not sure... I guess I will try to call the dealer up. Thank you all...

You need to ask a dealer to adjust the drive belts.
The symptom usually happens when you start a car in cold morning and then goes away in a few minutes. If it gets worse, you can smell a burning rubber.
  • hung0820hung0820 Member Posts: 426
    CD Player:
It most like happen on cold weather. There is good CD Player that can play well because the CD Player have good way to protect air and dust getting inside. It is best to have a dealer swap the CD Player for a test. You probably be able to talk with the manager concern about this problem.

    2002 Modern Options:
As far as I know there may be a sunroof available on most of the LX modern. As well as the stereo sytem will come with the Tape & CD Combo along with the 8 discs CD changer. (More money those).

    Fuel Cell:
Did you know how many mpg if you drive a Santa Fe with a Fuel Cell? About 35-45 mpg on City and 25-34 mpg on Highway. Yes! You get better mile on the city than the hwy. Why? When driving on the city you will probably stop a lots. Each time you stop it charge. However, I am not that the Santa Fe will do exactly the same as the Toyota Hybrid system or not. But that's how the Toyota Hybrid work.

Most of the dealers bought the leather seats cover from www.hdkautosport.com! You should be able to buy it from hdkautosport.com and save nearly 50-60% off. However, you have to do it yourself. Take time doing it yourself and you will value it more in the future.

why couldn't i just order the entire heated leather seat form the deal and swap 'em out?

    kc
  • hung0820hung0820 Member Posts: 426
Heated Seats is basically $300-$500 on dealer option only. You basically have to find a dealer that are willing to install it after market. Buy the leather seats cover first install it and then do the heated seats later. there is a few different kind of leather seats cover that you can buy from hdk.autosport.com. Such as Classic, Luxury, Sport, etc. Don't forget the leather seats option from dealer is just really a leather cover! Most people confused but that's how it works. Find a friend or relative and have them install the leather seats cover for you and save $500-$1000. Paid them just about $200 and they are really happy to do it for you. It is very easy to install. That's why so many dealer make money out of it.

If you live near San Francisco then I would really happy to swap it for you. However, the leather seat in my car is Gray not Beige. You can purchase Beige color available in www.hdkautosport.com.

I just took delivery on a black LX 4WD with options of ABS/traction control, leather heated seats, and carpeted mats for $23,000 inclusive of dealer charges, MSRP 23,436. Anyone get one cheaper? After long search, price seemed right. My comments:
PROS: AWD, good handling, gas mileage, selectronic transmission, interior seats comfort, relatively roomy interior, fit and finish, ride quality excellent.
CONS: The necessary accessory roof rails sell for $180, carpeted mats for $80!!! Sante Fe mania driving up prices and dealer smugness. I called 25 dealers for availability, most were jerks and not helpful. I hope this isn't indicative of later service!! (Though I like the car, given all the other choices out there( (Tribute, Escape, RAV4, CR, Outback Wagon)) I'm surprised at the mania given unknown SC reliability and Hyundai service quality). Low quality of interior trim pieces in cargo area (little more than cardboard flaps, thin plastic, cheap carpeting and ultra thin glass). If the SF was a Toyota it would sell for and probably be worth $25-27K. But the top of the line plush Hyundai XG300 sells for $25,000. I paid $23K for the SC!! Comparing across different auto maker lines, an OK price. Comparing within the Hyundai line, price seems very high for mediocre interior quality.
Like to hear from other owners of the SF GLS or LX 4X4WD. Did you get a good price or were you caught up in Sante Fe mania? Are you satisfied with service and car performance after 3,6or 12K miles? Thanks much as I'm now questioning my decision in the first few hundred miles after a closer look at at quality and dealer smugness.

I have the white Santa Fe LX AWD with Cargo Net, Roof Rack, leather, heated seats, ABS, and Traction Control. I paid total of $24980 out the door. I live in San Francisco-Northern California and also have to paid 8.25% tax. I have been shopping around for 3 months and finally got a good deal.

Do you have the Cargo Net and the Roof Rack?

I am willing to sell to those who need the Roof Rack and Carpet Mats at wholesale price. The price that the dealer bought in initially. Free shipping as well. Why? I have upgrade my car with the All-Season floor mats and the Roof Rack as well. I no longer need the carpet floor mats and the orginal stock roof rack.

For those who do a lot of internet surfing, if U know more Santa Fe's owner group on-line please let us know!

I don't have to much time to surf, I only stick to Edmunds.com since January, but I do think there should have more SF owner group somewhere on the internet. If U know please also let them know our existence so all of the owners can share experience.

    W/ Big thks!
  • pro212pro212 Member Posts: 44
The 23,000 I paid was minus tax and included the cargo net and rack, minus side rails which I paid $110 for (dealer price). I bought in New Hampshire. If you included the tax and dealer charges in the "24,980 out the door" it seems we paid about the same, or about $436 discount off MSRP with no dealer charges. DID WE GET RIPPED OFF?? Possibly, since you and I and a handful of other XG300 buyers have paid MORE FOR A HYUNDAI THAN PERHAPS ANYONE IN HISTORY!!! SANTE FE MANIA PERHAPS???
Did we get a "good deal?" Remains to be seen as reliability of the vehicle, parts availability, service quality are unknowns to me. Availability of accessories here in the NE seems to be nil as I called 6 dealers for the cargo mat and front/back deflectors. The front deflector is not out yet, don't know why. The other items I wanted, save for the roof rail cross members (without which, I believe, the roof rack is pretty useless). I don't need the carpets or rack, I have these. What all weater mats are you buying? Does anyone know what is the "windshield screen" mentioned in the "included features" list? I don't think I got one?
  • pro212pro212 Member Posts: 44
    Does anyone know:
    1) When will brush guards be available?
    2) Are step rails available?
    3) What is the winshield visor accessory?
    4) Does the carbon fiber dash kit come from Hyundai?
    5) Any crash test results yet? A BIG UNKNOWN???
    6) Why did Hyundai delete side impact bags? They were once on the features list and Cars and Drivers and Edmunds thinks it has side impact bags but it doesn't!!! Lets get Edmunds to clear this up, as buyers may be mislead.
    7) Why did Hyundai delete the moonroof in the US but available in Korea???
    8) What does "Obsidian" mean as attached to the black color?
Otherwise, enjoying my new Black LX AWD.

I have an identical LX to yours that I bought for $99.00 over dealer invoice. Total $22,616- including mats, racks, etc.
But, I am sure prices are based on availiablity and supply and demand. Right now dealers can probably get more than what I paid due to a shortage -- especially of the LX with ABS & TRACS.

I love my SF, especially in rain, snow and ice. It's the best vehicle I have ever driven in bad weather. If you really are concerned with the interior quality, etc. I am sure you could quickly sell yours. I haven't had any problems with fit and finish or any mechanical kinks in 5,000 miles of driving. If you look over all the posts here you will find that 99% of them are positive. So sleep well knowing you did make the right choice. There are pros and cons to every vehicle and I bet you'll be enjoying your SF for a long time.

Hello again from KY. I made a stop today at a local Hyundai delearship to have them look at my SF. Seems to wanna pull to the left while driving. Wheel out of balance maybe? Well..the tech came and took a look at it but while I was talking to him, before he even took a look at it, he knew what the prob was. Hyundai has sent out an advisory stating that the BF Goodrich tires on the SF SHOULD NOT be inflated to the stated pressure on door tag. This is causing alot of problems such as NOISE VIBRATION, and PULLING such as in my case. He lowered the presure to an even 28 on every tire. WOW..it worked !! So that is a possible answer to some problems out there maybe. Other news from tech. I was looking at my fuse box for fun, and noticed a fuse for S/ROOF. Guess what..they are equiped for a SUN ROOF..and they are being made and are available NOW. There is one in Louisville, KY where I live and is owened by a sales rep for Nestle Crunch candy. The tech had it in the shop and already the car had 12,000 miles on it in less than a yr. He said it was a loaded LS and looks sharp. It is a factory electric sun roof, not an after-market one. Also...he said that when he goes to training in Illinois that they are shown the newest versions before they hit the streets, and as of today..there are NO 2002 available. Again..this is according to a certified tech who goes to the classes and learns to service the cars before they are on the streets.
I did check into the Hyundai dash kit, the one in the Hyundai brochure. NO ONE has info on it. Seems its not yet available on a reg. basis. I have since visited a local trim shop who sells B & I trim kits. Saw the newest book, which they just got today, and the SF was listed, and would cost me $305.00 installed.
Also asked about illuminated ignition key area. Seems its an option and the kit is already installed in ALL SF's, but...you gotta have the $25.00 bulb installed. THATS the option..a bulb, which would prob cost hmmm.$125.00 say? Tech told me its a major job to put bulb in too. Stearing column off, etc... So..thats the latest I have heard. If I see the SF with sun roof.I will snap a pic or two.
    Happy driving !

So are you saying then, al Santa Fe's have 30 pounds of pressure on their tires, doors, etc...should we all lower them, the tire pressure to an even 28 pounds on all four tires???? I'll do it if the ride is smoother and softer. I never had problems of pulling to theleft or noise vibration, but if the BF tires themselves should be at 28 regardless of pulling to the left, etc...then I'll lower my tire pressure to 28. Right now, all four tires have 30 pounds each on them... Do you recommend we lower them for safety precautions then to 28 pounds? Please let us all know. Thanks.

Check out the site below. You can view the interior/exterior in 360 virtual. The SF they show has a sunroof.

    http://www.hyundai-motor.com/eng/vehicles/index.htm

As to why they haven't introduced it the the US [yet]... Well, I've asked the same question to techs and others [even on other boards] and no one knows.

I could only guess that part of the plan for introducing the SF was to keep the initial cost well below other competitors. That would probably exclude the sunroof which could tack on close to a thousand to the price.

I have seen one with an aftermarket installation and to my surprise looked pretty good. The quality of materials was good and most important the finish work was very good. The sunroof could tilt and slide open and had an auto-close feature which closed the sunroof if it was open when the car was shut off or keys were removed from the ignition. It looked like a factory installation in and out. I believe the dealer told me it cost 1,200.00.

I'm seriously considering getting one installed, although if they had one cut in from the factory I would prefer that. In fact, I was considering holding out on my purchase [just go my SF 2 weeks ago, mid Feb] until they would have the SF with a sunroof but again, I have no idea how long that may be. Besides I have a strong feeling that once the SF become [again] more available, dealers are going to ride out the demand and hit buyers with prices well above market value until the fever subsides.

Given that I've had sunroofs in my other cars and actually hardly ever use them I probably can do without it. To me the sunroof is one of those things I like to know is there if I want to use it [another gadget] and [yes] I like the way it looks on the vehicle ;)

    Good Luck!

  • wales1wales1 Member Posts: 90
According to the tech I talked to..ALL four need to be at 28, unless you are towing something, then they stay at the max pressure listed ont he door sticker.
Sounds weird..but you might wanna check with your local service dept. This was a notice sent out by Hyundai Corp..so its got to be for real.
And again..there is a factory sun roof available NOW for the SF. just gott aget luck and get one. There is one in this area, and the tech has seen it and changed the oil on it. Says it is a sweet looking ride.
  • ramadaramada Member Posts: 27
I called my service tech here in San Diego. They know nothing about this new bulleting you speak of. I don't doubt you. I asked him what the recommended tire pressure was for the Santa Fe was, and he told me to use the tire manufacturer's recommendations (BF GoodRich), which was 35psi??? I told him the Santa Fe, on the bottom of the door, says recommend tire pressure is at 30psi for 2 persons, 32psi for maximum load capacity.

I told him about your 28psi, and he said that was too low for the Santa Fe? I'm confused. I'm driving around with 30psi as per the Santa Fe vehicle specs, but do I need to go to 35psi as per BF GoodRich Tires? I like the idea of 28psi pounds, but I'm concerned about safety, ride, comfort, etc... I like a soft, cushy ride, and it seems to me 35psi is a lot of pressure and would make for a bumpy, rogh ride as well.

COuld youpost the "bulletin" you speak of, or can direct us to where we can find this 28psi? I want my Santa Fe to have the RECOMMENDED tire pressure for everyday driving, .... please advise me, as I have 3 differnt tire pressures to go by now.... 28psi (your recommendation), 30psi (Hyundai) or 35psi (BF GoodRich) ????

He didn;t know about this bulletin or new tech meeting..., maybe this bulletin hasn't reached San Diego, California Hyundai dealers yet? Please let me, us know your thoughts??? Thanbks

    Tire Pressure:
I believe the manufacture did not do very well with the tire pressure. Personally I think that the Front tires should be around 28-30 psi and the rear should be 26-28. Because the front is heavier than the rear. That's way the car will balance out with the perfect ride. My old 1997 RAV4 AWD was 28psi in front and 26psi in the rear according to the manufacture record. I think the Santa Fe should be the same as well.

    Osidian Color Definition:
Obsidian is the result of volcanic lava coming in contact with water. Often the lava pours into a lake or ocean and is cooled quickly. This process produces a glassy texture in the resulting rock. Iron and magnesium give the obsidian a dark green to black color.

    Clear Tail Lights:
The Clear Tail light similar to the IS300 and the new RX300 is really for the sport car only. After looking for a while I don't see any beautiful at all. However, there is a some website is selling this type of lights over $400. Not available for Santa Fe yet!

    Accessories:
If you have question about certain type of accessories then please visit www.hdkautosport.com and check out the price and style of each accessories for detail. Such as Bush Guard, Step Rail, etc. The windshield visor is the shade and also protect water from slipping down on the glass. Mostly like similar to the spoiler but have shade and shorter.
**Carbon Fiber dash can be order from www.autodash.com***

    Moonroof:
Moonroof is an options for the next year model and side impact probably for the other next year model. Some dealers may be able to add both of these items for this year model.

    Crash Test:
There is no real result for the Santa Fe Crash Test yet! Hopefully within the next month.

    Advice:
Do not order accessories from dealer because they are expensive. However, they do install it for you. If you want to save money order aftermarket and save $million....

    Car Price:
I personally think that I paid a price for my Santa Fe with fully loaded at $24980 "out the door". Everything was ready and I just come paid and ride home. How easy is this kind of deal?

All season floor mats & cargo liner:
I bought the All Season floor Mats and the Cargo Liner at www.weathertech.com but you can also buy the All-Season Floor Mats at www.hdkautosport.com.

ramada, there's some not-so-intelligent mechanics out there, so just ignore his posts.... Hyundai never issued a TSB on Santa Fe tire pressure and , as you said, the recommended tire pressure is 30 psi. Also there's no such thing as tire manufacturer's recommended pressure since every application is unique.
I have to warn you that underinflated tire increases side wall flexing, which in turn leads to excessive heat build-up at high speed...increasing the chance of tire blowout...stick w/ the pressure posted on the door jamb.
If you're in doubt, just call the consumner line of your region's Hyundai office.

Regarding the all weather mats you bought...

For the back seat area... Are the mats two pieces or one single piece that also covers the center "bump" [hump over rear axle]?

Also, if you're interested see my msg #1273 and check the website to see a SF with the factory sunroof [in and out]!

    Thanks

For those who doubt Hyundai's commitment to quality..I forgot to say something I discovered the other day ...if you open the fuse box near the driver side strut tower, you'll see a row of relays made by OMRON...the best in this field and arguably the most revered one, so definitely the quality is there...even in little, but critical components like relay...you know S. Korea is the third largest in the world in electronic components manufacturing, and there are lots of relay manufacturers in Korea, and Hyundai chose OMRON...very reassuring if you're a owner...I'm not, but would like to pass the info :-)
  • hung0820hung0820 Member Posts: 426
    Tire Pressure:
Please be alert that I only suggest that the manufacture to check out the tire pressure. That does not mean I am going to use the same as the RAV4. I do follow the MANUAL as stated the 30psi. We should just stick with the 30psi now. If any respond from manufacture suggestion then we follow their instructed which mean "doubt it". It just what I feel and think only. "But Think About it"! The front with the engine is heavier than the back right? That's mean the front should have more psi right? This is just a question!

    Floor Mats:
There are different kind of All season floor mats that you can buy. If you want the kind in the rear that cover all across then www.hdkautosport.com have it.

    Electrical:
Yes! The electrical system in the Santa Fe is very high-tech. Most likely everything electricity parts. I am working with electric stuffs right now with the technical guy in Korea to have the trip computer and also the a/t climate control to work for the Santa Fe in the USA and I know this is the fact.
  • ramadaramada Member Posts: 27
Thanks for all your input...hun0820, and hyundaiman..... We are all in agreement then, we should all be driving our Santa Fe's at the recommended psi which is 30psi. This is safe and it's what the door jambs say. I'm taking my car for it's 7,500 mile service in about 2 months anyways...there I'll have the wheels rotated, balanced and aligned, and I'll double check with them when I'm there. So we all agree with 30 psi?, provided that of course, we're not loading it up to full capacity either. LOL 30psi folks, both front and rear tires! :)
  • guyfguyf Member Posts: 456
I agree with the consensus. 30 psi is fine on the Santa Fe.

If you live in the snow belt, do yourself a favor and install Bridgestone Winter Dueler tires. Incredible traction and control!

In reply to tonyg6 you may like to know that
here in the UK we get a sun roof but if you have
ever been to England you will know we have little
use for it. But the things you get in the US
would be very useful, like heated seats & cruise
control. We only get to models 2.4 & v6 and thats
it. No options e.g. the above or traction control,
climate control, multi meter system, all of witch
are on offer in the rest of europe or the US
So if you want second best come to the uk.

Does anyone know anything about the predicted reliability on the Santa Fe?
Does it use the Sonata's tranny and if it does is it reliable? How about the engine?
  • gtmustanggtmustang Member Posts: 41
The Santa Fe is very relaible. It's transmission is made in Austria and is the same transmission whixh is used in the Porsche and Volkswagen Jetta. It's called a "Shiftronic" transmission. The engine is also relaible. It is made from Japanese and Korean parts and the Santa Fe is 100% built in Korea. It is a solid vehicle with a good fit and finish. It comes in 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder. The 4 cylinder doesn't come with 4WD. the 6 cylinder does. Also, the 4 cylinder can come with automatic or standard transmission. The 6 cylinder comes only in automatic transmission.
I recommend the 6 cylinder with the 4WD. It is better, especially if you live in an area where there is much snow and rain. I hope that this information is helpful for you to decide whether to buy the Santa Fe.

People..I am not making this up. A Hyundai certified mechanic told me a notice just came out about tire pressure in the vehicles. Will a -2 psi make a dangerous driving difference? I doubt it, but who knows. Was the notice from Hyundai or BF Goodrich? I will call tomorrow and ask. All I do know is the mechanic I spoke with said he and two other techs completed training on the vehicles in Illinois. I would hope that a person who has alot of logged training hrs. knows what he is talking about! Are any of us here certified Hyundai mechanics? Did anyone here know that there was a sun roof fuse and that the car is already equiped in the USA with sunroofs? Seems like all we read here is UK has them..or Korea has them..but USA doesnt. Well..There is at least one in the USA in Kentucky that has a factory installed sun roof. And again, according to tech who has seen what will be the next generation of SF to come, and has had his hands on one..not some internet site graphics or posting, but has learned what it will feature, there will be alot of fun things coming with it.

For those who have asked about MPG after break in-

Santa Fe LX-6cyl with AWD at last fill up with 5010 miles. 385miles/15.5gal = 24.8MPG
This is mostly highway driving. When in town I almost always use the shiftronic. I don't know if that makes any difference. This is also in cold weather--avg. temp in 30's this week. I am pleasantly surprised!
  • wales1wales1 Member Posts: 90
just talked to the same tech today..same story. 28 psi is now recommended to eliminate vibration and noise in tires on SF. They got a service bullitin about it and are making sure that their customers SF are at 28 psi according to the service bullitin. Now if your dealership doesnt want to put them at 28 psi..then I guess they dont have to. But the tech I spoke to said it was recommended by Hyundai..so thats the scoup ! Apparently there had been alot of complaints about noise, etc.in tires, and this was the answer. Again..will 2 pds difference make the car un-safe?

I understand now. You should be receiving this bulleting soon then, if you're a customer. Could you have your tech guy, fax or send you a copy of it by mail...shouldn't be a problem since you're a customer and want "actual verification" of this bulletin of 28 psi. I'd love to see it. I don't doubt you wales1, but it would sure be nice to "see" it, post it here etc...this way we can all show our dealers of this bulletin. Sounds legit, but I'd like to see it, either get one by fax , mail, email, etc...can you do this for us? It would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to inform my service tech here at hyundai delaership where I bought mine, if I don;t get informed of this by them.

Where have you guys been in the last year?

The whole Firestone Tire problem...Didn't Ford make the same recommendation to lower tire pressure to compensate for some design problem? 28psi or 26psi?

Do the recommended tire pressure of 30psi...lowering the tire pressure may make it smoother but increases rolling resistance (the tires will produce heat) decrease gas mileage.

Increasing/decreasing tire pressure in the Front tires or rear tires...Tires increase in tire pressure when rolling on the highway 3 to 4 psi on the front tires and 1 to 2 psi (no load)in the rear...in a SUV which isn't as stable as a car(you may be able to play more with the psi if you are a race car driver)... naturally if you've messed too much you'll create instabillity or be able to predict how the vehicle will handle...

Stick to the Manufacturers Recommended tire pressure hopefully their engineers know what they are talking about...or change tires=Goodyears GA's caused vibration etc...on my 2000 Concorde (the same problem that the 300m had...changed to Mich X-0ne...gone.

Read the owners manual before you take anybodies advice...

    Enjoy your ride!

I just read on another board that SF's can have side air bags installed [as an option]. I believe this guy was in Canada.

I'm in the US and haven't heard of is option.

Can anyone fill me in if it is available or not [in the US]?

    Thanks!

Side airbags are not available in Canada. Airbags are not the kind of items that can be installed by dealers at delivery. When offered as an option on other vehicles, it is a factory option; meaning it has to be ordered that way from the factory.

Can you double check the number you found for the Eastern office, 609-395-7347 appears to be out of service. Thanks.

    Hi all,
Thanks hung0820 for the "obsidian" definition.
Anyone know how to get Edmunds and Car and Driver to retract their statements that the vehicle has sidebags? Very misleading. Anyone shiop their vehicles overseas or other country. Hyundai told me to pay in advance and then they will consider reimbursement. Sounds pretty unsure to me. Has this ever worked for anyone? Finally any better prices than $23,000 deliverered you've paid for a loaded LX 4wd with ABS/traction, mats, heated seats/electro mirror? By the way, I found but passed on a nice Blue LX minus ABS and heated seats at Herb Connelly dealership in Framingham MA.

    Sorry all,
I was asking about warranty reimbursement overseas. Hyundai told me to pay for service, then request reimbursement from Hyundai North America. When I asked is this a sure thing, or where is it written that they will, in fact pay, they said its considered on a case by case basis. It sounds pretty sketchy to me with nothing in writing (they refused) and case by case over 10 years of "unwritten warranty" is sketchy and unsure! Anyone have experience getting service under warranty in a different country than USA for a vehicle purchased in USA?
    Thanks!

    Hello everybody!

Last december I have ordered a copper orange Santa Fe 2.0 FWD which is expected to be delivered in May. This is a long wait but at this moment, leadtimes have already increased to almost 8 months.
During the past few days I have been reading the postings and one of the things that I noticed is the fact that the SF model-range in the US is very different from that in Holland. Here, we only have 2.0 FWD, 2.4 AWD and V6 AWD. The first two only with manual shift and the latter with only automatic.
Regards to you all from Jan.

hey ramada...I will go by dealership on Monday and see what i can get for yah. I do think the bullitin was sent to the tech dept. only, ..its not a recall.so I doubt you will get anything in the mail. according to the tech..it is been told to the dealerships that when the cars come in to do it then, and mention it to the customer. kinda like this.."have you been hearing a noise? having any problems? etc..we have been advised that the tire pressure is what the cause is..so the 30 psi on sticker needs to be at 28 psi. but..if you are towing..keep them at 30psi." it is not a "safety issue or a manufacture defect etc..issue, but a problem solving issue.
as to the frod and bridgetone issue, i kinda think this is a worng comparison..the bridgetsone issue delt with bad materials in the rubber at a plant not by the the lowering of tire pressure..the rubber was bad...not the air pressure. as to roll over..umm..kinda depends on the driver and the road conditions, weather conditions.etc.. if 2 pds of pressure is gonna cause a roll over....WOW..watch out when it gets warmer, and your tires expant due to heat. again..i will check on the info on monday..will post anything i found out and hopefully answer some questions that still linger out there.

Just got back from a family ski trip to Colorado. (Keystone) And we took the family in the Sante Fe. Round trip total of 1599.9 miles! Across the plains of Kansas I was getting 22 to 23+ mpg. And we were loaded down with 4 people and all our stuff piled high. Went through every kind of weather, heavy rain, freezing rain, fog, heavy snow, snow packed highways, mountain snow, and some clear highway driving. The Sante Fe performed great, handled the mountains without a hitch and was keeping pace with several of the big V8 SUV's as we drove up the mountains. I was really pleased with the way the SF performed on a long trip with lots of weather and mountain driving. The only complaint would be that the shifting in drive was sometimes a bit harsh in the mountains but most all cars would experience that in mountain driving conditions. All in all a great trip with the Sante Fe!

Oh yeah, we had a 6 inch powder day and great snow all week.

After much surfing the net,I finally found a dealership that has some of the Hyundai aftermarket accessories for the Santa FE.I bought a hood deflector that was in the 2001 Hyundai Accessories Brochure.Paid only $46.75 plus shipping which is less than the MSRP.This dealership has some other accessories to.I haven't been able to find any local dealerships that even know about the brochure or even seen these accessories.Anyways, they confirmed availability and ordered one from there supplier and I should have it in about a week. They said they had put one on a Santa Fe at the dealership and it looked sharp.Sold the last one they had the day before I called.Ok,here is the site address www.tischerhyundai.com or call 1-(410)295-1234 and ask for Nick.I told them I was going to put it on the site and be prepared for some orders.Look at all the accessories there.Hope it helps!Oh yeah, you have to order off the site to get the above price.

The other pictures are spy photos of Hyundai's all new 2-door coupe. It will have SF'S V6 engine and 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission.
