Amazon has a ton of very similar racks. I’m currently looking for one for my JVC stack that I’ll pair with my PSB Image 4T… or swap stuff around and put the Adcom stack on it and move the JVC to my office stand with the Marantz speakers.

Well, gosh. It looks like everything is working as intended. I mean, they didn't build those houses on stilts for the extra exercise!

However, those barrier islands serve a purpose, so if people want to build on them, they are kinda asking for trouble now and again.

Years ago we were at the Outer Banks in my wife's 3er when a late Nor'easter hit. Long story short, the windshield and headlights were badly pitted by the sand blowing off the dunes and they had to be replaced.

I am so happy my shore house is elevated - the worst that could happen is the garage gets some water but we don't keep anything of value on the ground and if it gets high enough in there to damage the golf cart I'm sure there will be bigger problems.

My street is prone to flooding but they have done an amazing job over the past few years with pumps and better drainage so when it does it is not too bad.

It is pretty nasty down there, I have been checking my camera quite frequently but nothing to report (fingers crossed it stays that way).

@roadburner ...don' know how often or even if you get to the Cincinnati area but "HANSON AUDIO" (right off 275) has a bunch of nice ones. You'd probably like perusing their AV gear, too.

This pic is from my neighbors house looking across the street to our condo building. Our building is the group of six and I’m the right most unit. Next pic is from my camera. Tough to see but it is right up to my garage. High tide was 8PM so it should be starting to recede. May have gotten a little water in the garage but nothing to worry about.

That looks like the Grand Isle to Plattsburgh ferry. If you took that, you drove about 3 miles away from my house when you drove over the South Hero causeway.

Yesterday marked the 2 year anniversary of my mom's passing. It took the better part of a year to settle her estate and split the monies between my sister and myself.

Did a couple of smaller home improvement projects initially with the money, but now we're going all in, and getting the basement mostly finished.

About 1200 sf of the 1700+ sf basement will be finished. Construction starts on 9/3 and is supposed to last for 6 weeks.

Bedroom, bathroom, laundry space and living space will be finished. Girls are going wild picking flooring and hardware options, and tweaking the floorplan before locking things in.

This will give all of us more space - after 7 years of living on one level, it's probably overdue.

Nice job! I’m sure settling the estate wasn’t easy. Hopefully you and your sister were able to do it amicably. Having a full finished basement is wonderful. We have a 3 bedroom ranch for 5 of us. Our finished basement allowed our (almost) 19 year old to have his own space and each of our 3 kids to have their own rooms. My 16 year old son can go down there and play XBox. Sometimes with friends online or by himself.

If we had an adult child living here we would definitely do the same, to get them a dedicated separate space. Essentially their own apartment.

The estate issues were time consuming, but very amicable. Since there were only the two of us for the estate, we pretty much split everything 50/50. She did buy out the Sonata, and at the very end of the process I "gave" her a few thousand dollars since she did a majority of the administrative work.

We've taken to calling the space the "mother-in-law suite" - easier to grasp, conceptually, than trying to explain it's for our 30-something year old daughter.

I’ve been through that executor tribulation twice. I feel your pain. At least when I did it there were no ghouls coming out of the woodwork making claims and the will was a straightforward division equally among parties.

My sister and I grew apart for many years - not that we didn't speak, or see each other, at all, just .... distant. When our parents got sick, we started talking more regularly, and when we moved my mom to the assisted care facility, it was several times per week.

After she passed, it was pretty much every day we were on the phone, or texting, coordinating the various pieces of the estate disposition. My parents had it all laid out in an estate document, which made selling the house a straightforward process. Our disagreements were slight - I wasn't keen on the amount of money she ended up spending to get the house ready for the market - but in the end, she was right. We sold the house for $810K, and we just got the monthly update from Zillow that shows the house is worth about $797K - we absolutely nailed the top end of the market for the city.

All these home improvements means that a new (or newer) car is on the back burner for a year or two, but there isn't anything wrong with the Subaru now, and I expect it will run well for the time being.

(not that there isn't a part of me that would like to see it get caught in a massive hailstorm that totals it out, and we have to start over, but I'd rather avoid having to shop under duress)

It was insane! Worst I have seen in a while. I can tell you if this happened four years ago when we first bought the house our golf cart and everything in the storage room at the back of our garage would be gone. The township did a ton to slow the water coming up off the harbor.

Our street used to flood much worse. I have to be in North Jersey later and with work I can’t get there today - just trying to find out from my neighbor if it got to the storage room. If it did I may have lost a cheap fridge and some Christmas decorations.

He sent me picture and our trash cans and boogie boards were moved all around and I could see a line about of dampness on the golf cart tires just below the motor

Well, this is fun. Posting from the hospital because it is midnight and it is highly unlikely I’ll be sleeping tonight.

Earlier today, I was up on a ladder trying to adjust a garage door opener. It was the big garage where they are 12 feet up.

I don’t know what the heck happened but the ladder tipped over. Did my damndest to land somewhere safe but didn’t win. Although I suppose it could have been worse. Landed on the ladder back first. Long story short, I have multiple fractures in my left scapula and 2 busted ribs. Sending me home tomorrow after a follow up X-ray to make sure my left lung remains inflated. So, yeah. I was scheduled to get get my motorcycle license mid Sept with my son. Guess that’s off the table.

Sounds painful. Was it a 8' ladder? You didn't go past the 3rd to last rung did you?

When I broke my arms years ago I had to joke "you should see the other guy." Unfortunately, not as interesting when you hurt yourself.

So I hooked up the Carver to the ADC speakers and I immediately noticed that neither tweeter was working. I got out my digital multimeter and verified that the tweeters were receiving a signal, but when I disconnected a speaker and put the test leads on the speaker's connections it showed an open circuit. That said, it's strange that both tweeters failed, but I suppose it is possible (I replaced both over 20 years ago). I'm going to do a bit more detective work but it looks like I'll be in the tweeter market.

Packed the wife and 12 y.o. niece (her first convertible ride, she wants one. Sorry, Dad...) in the backseat, MIL in front seat of the M240. Went for a ride. The MIL who is afraid of, well, everything (almost literally, she can tell you every item ever recalled since the dawn of man. And, once recalled, she'll never eat/use again. Adios, Oyster Crackers) in the front passenger seat.
Gorgeous day, top down and I head towards my favorite (short) winding road, hoping for no fun-inhibitors ahead. I was lucky! Except for my front seat passenger, "Slow down, this car has no top!!! Violet's in the back!!! It's going to flip over!!! Let me out!!! I'm going to call her parents!!!" I was doing 40 in the 30, usually if no slowpokes ahead I do 50, sometimes 51!
I asked her to calm down, all is well, none of what you fear is going to happen. Surprisingly, I was right. We hit the highway, she screamed, "You must be doing 80!!!" I said great guess, we are doing 80! Like all in the left lane.
The 12 y.o. niece, grinning ear to ear, she loved it. Also had Buffet's "Fins" on the radio, taught her to do fins to the left, fins to the right. MIL was none too pleased that I was doing it too, behind the wheel... kidding-ish.
To her credit, when we arrived at the farmer's market, MIL was calm and collected. Perhaps she realized her life was in my hands and she shouldn't harass the driver. Or, secretly, she enjoyed it too?

Irrational backseat or passenger seat drivers in this case are the worst. You often hear it from people that visit the Autobahn and say "I was scared for my life" failing to note that year in and year out US highways kill twice as many per mile driven.

At least that's my reasoning for driving like a bat out of hell; I'm afraid for my life; the sooner I reach my destination the sooner I'm safe from drivers like that one that failed to notice a giant bright yellow school bus in front of them and tried to occupy the same space at the same time.

Did I tell the story of how I went to Desert Tire Alley Shack in Pahrump NV for my last new tire mounts on the TTS and regretted it every single vibration on the way home to San Diego for 300+ miles?

OK, joking about the tire shop name, but they were basically a tire dump shack/shop with no real lifts (just the kind of jack you'd have in your own normal residential garage), and open Sundays.

The chassis is stiff so no issue lifting two wheels off the ground from one jack, but..... why would you own a tire shop without a real lift?????

He told me "sorry, my balancer must need recalibration." after I complained from having all my tooth fillings knocked out on the drive home. The fact it took him over 2-1/2 hours to mount 4 tires was a red flag among many.

My in-laws were great people, but my FIL in particular had a true "glass half empty" personality. For example, I once pointed out a car that I was looking at and mentioned it had a DOHC turbocharged six; his only comment was, "It probably doesn't get very good gas mileage."
That said, you are infinitely more patient than me; if I had a passenger like your MIL, I'd treat her in the same manner that Clive Owen treated his passenger in Ticker at the 5:32 time stamp. I've done it before and I'd do it again- MIL or not.

My wife -bless her heart- came up with a solution to my issue with the ADC speakers. She suggested I take the speakers to the same shop where I'm taking my turntables to have them checked out- and ensure that everything is in excellent shape once and for all.

When driving with me my wife would suddenly shout “look out”, scaring the heck out of me. I’d say “what’s wrong” as my head spun around looking for the danger. Then she would say something like “that driver a mile down the road looks like he’s going to pull out in front of you”! This resulted in an argument about my driving abilities and no amount of mentioning that I was a licensed professional driver would assuage her fear.😧

    I feel this.

My wife: Slow down, be careful!

Me: I am, literally, a professional driver.

I just have to say "do you want to drive instead?" and she quiets right down.

I believe I’ve shared this before. My wife has an uncanny ability to know when I’m driving 80. Doesn’t matter what vehicle. She can have her eyes closed trying to rest, once I hit 80, very discreetly I might add, she immediately perks up and exclaims aren’t you driving too fast. sigh.

Probably need a crossover rebuild at this point too.

That could be the sticking point. According to some folks who have attempted a complete rebuild, the crossover is potted in some black goo. On top of that, the speakers have two slide switches on the back to boost or cut the midrange and treble.

@abacomike Hope you’re doing well. You’ve been quiet lately.

    All good with the Genesis.?
