When I was in private practice, the local US Bank branch refused to comply with the "will search" statute that allows entry to a decedent's lockbox in order to retrieve a will. We had to go to District Court and get someone appointed "administrator" before they were allowed to get into the lockbox and retrieve the will, at which point, the will got filed and they became executor. Completely asinine.
One thing we did (and I should confirm this!) was get rid of my fathers box after my mother passed. What would be in there is now in a lock box in his apartment.

Based on the calculations between the selling price and the former appraised value, we think the new bill will be in the $7-8K range.

The best paint out there, which isn't cheap is BENJAMIN MOORE AURA paint. They have 3 levels and the AURA is the best. It is also very expensive.

I prefer Benjamin Moore to Sherwin Williams and that is what I have in our prototype docs but it’s even a little more expensive.
Personally I’d go with Behr Marquee from Home Depot for a DIY job. It’s about $255 for a 5 gallon pail.
We had the painter use it at our shore house. My daughter decided to practice her gymnastics in the hallway and got dirt marks all over. Cleaned right up with no damage.
Thanks for the feedback. Order placed on-line. $381 total, with taxes and fees. Guess the project will get started at the end of this week, as the girls don't have to be in the studio Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.

Paint did go up a lot. We generally just bought it at Lowe’s (their brand, Valspar). For the new house it came from Benjamin Moore. Without looking at the big bucket of leftover downstairs can’t tell you which level.

I had to go to the Post Office. It's about 3 1/2 miles from my house. I ran into 3 road closed instances on the way.
Back when they pretended to care, they would maintain traffic on one lane. Now that they don't care at all, they just close the road. One of them did post a small detour.
Thought it best to have the oldest as a co-signer just in case I'm in the hospital again & need a bill paid. Last time, was charged a late fee from Chase as I didn't have access to my checkbook. Called and they did take it off since I always pay, a bit early to, but don't want to have an issue again. I know how super honest she is & will split things in thirds once I'm gone. Since what happened to me and my siblings, they all know how fair I need things to be. So, have no worries here. As for the house, depends on who goes first. But, should be an easy procedure since the last living spouse living stays in the house. Eventually, the kids will sell it and each get a third. And whatever their mom has set up for them. But no one really talks about this stuff but things are already in place.

How much should it cost to get a new car ceramic coated by a detailer?
I see these bottles of liquid polishes that leave a ceramic coat. And the car washes have a ceramic coat finish on their premium wash packages.
What's different about a ceramic coat. The dealer wanted to charge $600 but couldn't tell son and DIL how they did it, what they used. I suspect they would have used Turtle Wax: LOL

———————————————— That’s a pretty high price and hopefully that’s their best paint but be sure it isn’t exterior paint because that’s usually about 5 or 6 bucks more per gallon and you don’t need that for the interior of a house. Home Depot’s top of the line Behr interior paint is pretty much in line with the Sherwin Williams brand and it’s gone up dramatically over the last 3 or 4 years. So much so that my son decided to try Glidden’s top of the line (also bought from Home Depot) which is a good bit less expensive (seem to remember about 8 bucks a gallon less about 3 or 4 years ago but don’t hold me to that) and it provided the same result in application and a wear test I performed on some scrap drywall.
I would stay away from the cheaper grades of anybody’s paint because their application is not as good as the better grades and I’m sure their wearability is not very good either.

Avalon king is probably about $50 I think. Putting it on looks super easy. And probably is every bit as good (if not better) than what the dealer would do. Assuming it is even worth it.
The prep work is key. Even a new car is going to need a clay bar/mitt treatment before a sealant is applied, and I would bet most dealers don't bother with that, but a professional detailer would.
When I bought my current Explorer, a dealership I had never purchased from before, in addition to having pretty recently moved to that state, I told them I was going to put down 15K in addition to my trade in equity. They let me take my new Explorer and said drop off the check sometime next week. The next day, a Sunday, I dropped off a personal check. Easy Peasy.

Stick, she did pay the house bills through the joint checking but all I had left was my individual Chase c c which I pay out of my own checking account. Back then, she was also on it but with all that was going on, I just plain forgot. First time ever. But, she does have our joint check book for all other house bills. I just had my kitchen, hallway and my bedroom painted with Sherwin Williams "Alabaster" which is an off=white color. You might want to take a look at that color - I am very pleased with it.

When we built our house we got some really cheap off white paint for $4.99 a gallon on sale. It would rub off if you looked at it the wrong way so later we painted over it with washable acrylic. It’s still on the ceilings though.

I don't know how other States mandate banking requirements upon the death of the account holder. When my Dad passed in 2015, since all his CD's (regular and IRA's) were listed as POD to both me and my twin brother, the bank only required a death certificate (original, not a copy) which they copied and returned to me. They then issued checks to both me and my brother (50% to each) for each account. Since I was able to sign checks as the checking account was in both my Dad's and my name, I left the $20,000+ in that account in order to pay for any debts that were forthcoming. I then issued a check to my brother a few months later for 50% of the remaining balance.
Since the Condo was in both my Dad's and my name (not my brother's name), which is what he and my mom wanted so I would always have a place to live, I took the quit claim deed to an attorney with a death certificate and he in turn had a new deed prepared showing me as the owner of the property. He wanted me to make sure I had copies of the death certificates for my mom and dad attached because the Condo was originally purchased in my Dad and Mom's names.
It took me and my brother about 2 months to get all of this taken care of - but the money in the bank was distributed by the bank manager immediately upon providing an original death certificate and current driver's licenses for me and my brother. That was the easiest part of the entire process.

Three quarts of samples for $35 seems like a really good deal. Since they’re all whites I might mix them together in a big can and paint the whole room on the cheap. I bet it would end up looking white.

———————————————— I’ve always said if you have to squint to see the subtle differences in paint shades, it’s time to just throw a dart. I’m convinced when they’re that close in color, if you chose one color and they mixed the other you’d never know the difference anyway.
I don’t know what the color name is (some shade of gray) my son, his wife and mother chose for the first flip but he’s painted every flip the same color. He said he doesn’t want to go through that again and since he’s gotten favorable comments on all the flips since, he has no plans to change now.

Avalon king is probably about $50 I think. Putting it on looks super easy. And probably is every bit as good (if not better) than what the dealer would do. Assuming it is even worth it.

When we built our house we got some really cheap off white paint for $4.99 a gallon on sale. It would rub off if you looked at it the wrong way so later we painted over it with washable acrylic. It’s still on the ceilings though.

Since the Condo was in both my Dad's and my name (not my brother's name), which is what he and my mom wanted so I would always have a place to live, I took the quit claim deed to an attorney with a death certificate and he in turn had a new deed prepared showing me as the owner of the property. He wanted me to make sure I had copies of the death certificates for my mom and dad attached because the Condo was originally purchased in my Dad and Mom's names.
It took me and my brother about 2 months to get all of this taken care of - but the money in the bank was distributed by the bank manager immediately upon providing an original death certificate and current driver's licenses for me and my brother. That was the easiest part of the entire process.

My wife had dozens of paint chips taped to the walls when we were picking the color to paint the new house. Benjamin Moore was the winner. Swiss coffee, something like than. A pleasant off white toward cream I think. Very nice looking and I intend to keep every wall this color the rest of my life.

I’ve always said if you have to squint to see the subtle differences in paint shades, it’s time to just throw a dart. I’m convinced when they’re that close in color, if you chose one color and they mixed the other you’d never know the difference anyway.
I don’t know what the color name is (some shade of gray) my son, his wife and mother chose for the first flip but he’s painted every flip the same color. He said he doesn’t want to go through that again and since he’s gotten favorable comments on all the flips since, he has no plans to change now.

The push to be broke before retirement continues. Fence goes in Thursday so more $ into that. Signed up for the custom closet guy to come out in 2 weeks to do out pantry. And our fancy new mattress should get delivered in the next 2 weeks, which means we need to pay for the rest of the new bedroom set to have something to put it on.
At this rate $.88/lb turkey will be too rich for my blood.
