One I looked at was a 175/80-13. Michelin. Whitewall. Yes these have been out there a while. The other one also whitewall. About the same size but I think it’s a Firestone.

I did more yard work today. Another 2 tires (can't believe I found more), a bucket, pop up 53 gallon pail, 2 of those big paper yard waste bags, and another pile of sticks are now piled up on my driveway, waiting for a trip to the transfer station. Which means loading up the Maverick again. I may not put many miles on it, but they are important one! Oh, we are making our annual trip to the Jersey shore in July for a week's vacation. I don't think I could fit everything my wife insists on bring in the Acura (well, maybe but it would be stuffed to the ceiling) so need the truck for that too.

I could certainly get away with a beater truck for work tasks. Just can't find one up here (OF knows how hard it is) that isn't rotted to oblivion. and if it isn't, the price is absurd.

With all of the debris you keep finding there in bucolic Junkyard Acres Wrecking Yard Hills, perhaps a dump truck or flatbed stake truck would be a better choice. :D

If I was to upsize it would be to a ridgeline. My wife would at least like that. Still wouldn’t drive it of course.

Had Acura serviced today. 27,800 miles in 63 months. Oil and 1st brake fluid flush. Everything else checked out perfect. Tires all 7/32 and all brakes at 8mm.

5 minutes after I got there had a text from sales that they would love to buy it, did I want a quote? I didn’t bother since it doesn’t belong to me. I did walk the lot. Cars got expensive! There was a dark blue RDX the wife loved the color of. An advanced for $54k. Even the exact same model as hers (including colors) was $49,300 (tech package). Hasn’t really changed. I probably could have brought that one home and she may not have even realized.

ADX looked nice. Those were still 38-40k. Nah.

Okay. So good news and even better news.

I found a VW collision shop in my network and they primarily serve as the body shop for Porsche Bellevue, so I’m confident they can handle this. Car is getting dropped off tomorrow and they’ll start teardown.

Better news, even with an accident report, I’m getting buy quotes that are comically high - if I recover diminished value I’ll be more than whole and can swap into a non damaged version at nothing out of pocket.

As long as it’s not totaled and once it’s fixed up cosmetically, the dealer will sell it off before the ding shows up on CarFax.

I like that truck. Would immediately sell the box though. The body slide might come in handy.

Not sure about the v6 N.A. in that. I can live with pokey but is that one to avoid with weird Ford stuff like a water pump cast into the block?

This just keeps getting better. Damage estimate is now up to $13k, needs a new rear quarter panel welded in. But…wait for it…there are no rear quarter panels available because the car is so new as is this particular body style.

Sounds like it is getting closer to being totaled. I remember early model Tesla Model S had this problem. There were no extra parts, so they literally had to grab them off the assembly line to ship to the body shop. People’s rental coverage would expire and the insurance company would end up totaling the car.

Can you drive it until the rear quarter comes in? Of course, once they remove it, they may find it needs something else that needs to be ordered.

6 months of a rental car is going to add up fast.

Is there any structural damage impacting how it drives? Like a bent frame would? or is this really just cosmetic? If so, I would not mind at all getting it cheap as is, having it pulled out as best as possible, and living with it having some "Patina" for the next decade.
