Yeah, we had a CX-7 for a few years. Dumped it before the 60K service, and I too was concerned about the longevity of the turbo.

The 3.6 NA Outback we swapped it for has been pretty reliable for the last 10+ years.

Had the wife in the Subaru today, and she commented how noisy it was compared to the Sportage she normally rides in. Of course, it's 10 years old, it's gonna have some squeaks and groans and rattles. But, she still likes the fact that the payment is $0 per month.

Did any of you guys see that guy on LH that scored the sub $300 payment on an $81K loaner or demo Silverado EV WT?

You know I did. Haha. But CA has so many crazy EV leases that don’t exist anywhere else. And that guy’s deal is pretty suspect being claimed as used but also new. Someone was really abusing the system from both ends.

Kind of unfair to claim it’s their biggest loss ever. The thing got totaled after all.

I think the point is, most other vehicles would not have had that high a repair cost and such a low salvage sale price.

Dang, I’d do a Silverado lease for $300 a month… I’d prefer my EV not to be that much of a barge, as well. Can’t imagine what it would cost to take on a road trip.

Speaking of which, filled up the Maverick today with my own money for the first time since December. I had a $100 Visa gift card that got me through until now since I’m dailying the Ariya (5400-ish miles on it now). No issues, but still glad I gave the Mav a shakedown before the annual pilgrimage to Omaha later this week.

Emme Hall from Edmunds did a comparo of the Silverado EV vs the F-150 Lightning. I learned a lot about the Silverado EV that I didn't know. It is a unibody EV like the other GM EVs such as the Cadillac Lyriq and has little in common with the gas Chevy trucks, whereas the F-150 is an electrified Ford pickup. The Chevy has a massive battery and is a massive vehicle - 146" WB, and weighs around 9000 lbs.!

@ab348 - I didn't realize the Silverado EV was unibody. It doesn't make a lot of sense because it looks like they ended up with a heavier vehicle.

They didn't cherry pick. Edmunds owned the Tesla. They reported on their experience, after it was damaged.

I guess with all the problems Edmunds had with their cyber truck they didn’t have to because Tesla made it easy for them but it could have looked like they were piling on. If Edmunds with all their pull couldn’t get Tesla to move any faster about getting a quote and possible repair, I wouldn’t want to be the everyday cyber truck owner.

If GM or Ford or anyone else acted like that they’d be crucified. The owners arrogance must be a prerequisite for employment at their stores.

I'm confused, shocking. Was the Tesla insured? I would think they would get a settlement though it would still be a huge loss. But $8k?

Big Bend trim has the best residuals.

2024 models have lower APR, but also lower residuals, compared to 2025

None of them have great programs

what about an escape? Might be deals on those since they are going away next year.

also, keep in mind only the Badlands Bronco sport has the 2.0l. the rest have the 1.5 3 banger.

They probably also don't lease well, but can get a maverick instead! same up front, 27" longer out back.

The body style of an Escape or Bronco Sport is probably more appropriate for my use case, but the availability of the 2.0T on all trims and my willingness to use the bed in lieu of a hatchback made the Maverick an easy choice. Good luck with your sister's search, @nyccarguy !

Thanks. He's a cool guy. Obviously successful.

I think if I were him I'd have let some of the sales people who work for him to hit the bricks, as some are just plain disrespectful towards him.

But, if I were ever in the market for a Benz, I'd drop him a line.

@breld - congrats to your son on the new job! The Goodyears performed extremely well in TR's comparison test. I'll definitely consider them when replacing the Maverick's tires this fall. Sad to see two out of the three Michelins they tested in the bottom half of the combined ranking of 20.

I read that too. I may consider the GY Weather 2 for the Arteon. I have GY Comfort Drive ( I think that's the name, car is with my daughter) on the Passat and they perform well.

I'm in Florida as well, albeit near Fort Lauderdale, for a conference and I'm missing all the fun back home. A pretty severe storm came threw the area knocking out power to close to 500K homes. My oldest son said it went out yesterday around 5:00PM and hasn't been on since. It could supposedly take 5-7 days before full restoration occurs for some areas so I'll be curious to see where we land on that spectrum.

When you see ratings and ranking that far apart for the same tire from different sources, you have to figure something is up. Curious.

I don't need the 3PMS all-seasons, but will consider them if they do everything else well. Consumer Reports hasn't even tested the Goodyear Weatherready 2 yet, but they like the CrossClimates and the Vredestein HiTrac.

Honestly, even a mediocre new tire probably feels and performs much better than a (once) really good tire that's more than half worn.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,330
our RDX came with Contis that are OK but nothing special as far as I can tell. at 5 YO and about 28K on them they still have decent tread but certainly haven't gotten better. so any good quality new tire is going to seem great most likely!

Drove the Maverick about 240 miles to Champaign. I'll drive the rest of the way to Omaha tomorrow for the annual gathering. At a cruising speed of around 80, the Ariya would have probably required two twenty-minute-plus 10-80% fast charging stops to make it here, but the Ford app says my gas tank is still 52% full (started with a full tank).
