That’s what I’m trying to figure out. He said to get a quote from carmax 1st because maybe the dealer will meet or beat their quote. The Tacoma also has a chip in the windshield that I have to get fixed.

I have 14 months to go on the Taco lease and I'm over the miles already. I want to exit early and get a new car for my wife to drive while my son drives the Highlander to & from his summer lifeguarding job. It will lessen the mileage load on the Highlander which will hit 72K miles any day now.

See, my wife doesn’t let me get away with that stuff. Like when I mentioned an AWD Charger R/T as a daily, she exclaimed “you just got rid of a Charger!” She didn’t care to hear that we’re talking AWD daily vs special edition garage queen. She just don’t get it.

That’s the thing with @breld is that not only does his wife “get it,” but she’s got the itch just as bad or worse than he does.

Just this morning my wife commented on how it's cute that I want to "get a sports car for my sports car."

She also acknowledged she has no room to talk.

I’m a bit worried the past week or so. Everything is working on the Alfa. How can that be true? I mean, even the gauges and clock. That can’t possibly last. It is like range anxiety. I’m constantly watching everything to see what goes wrong first.

On another forum (the one where the poor soul stated that his midlife crisis car was a Pacifica) a guy posted about renting a Wrangler and how it was a horrible drive, etc. I posted the following:

If my Wrangler's off road abilities aren't needed I'd rather drive my C43 or Club Sport- but I certainly don't consider my JLU Sahara 4xe to be a penalty box. It ticks all the boxes for me; I prefer driving it to 95% of new vehicles under $50,000. Exceptions would include the BRZ, Elantra N, GR86, GTI, Type R and WRX.

I looked on YouTube and it seems like these come off and are easy to replace (famous last words, I know). I ordered a new set from Tacoma Lifestlye that are painted to match. Here is the before picture:

Have you tried the old heat gun or boiling water trick on those?

@nyccarguy - I've had mixed luck with this Rain-X windshield repair kit. It worked on my Prius and did not on my dad's Ranger. Might be worth a shot on the Tacoma.

Q, you definitely have a "middle ground" spouse. So, count your blessings there. All I have to do is mention the word "car," and I hope I have a clear schedule for the next twenty minutes while she explains all the reasons why the topic was unacceptable, etc. So, on the spectrum of enabling, it's like this:

Yes and it lessens the chance of electrical shocks but for me if I hit on a sore subject it wouldn’t eliminate the likelihood of being chased around the dining room table.

Found another option for me to consider. A local one-price dealer has a BRZ tS model, discounted to $700 more than the series.purple model that is being sold at invoice. That tS model comes with Brembos and a sport-tuned suspension. I personally don't need those upgrades, but maybe it's worth it for the $700. Plus, WR Blue. And that purple one is a 4 hour drive away (could be a fun return home though).

The purple doesn’t do it for me, personally. But I’m also colorblind so it probably looks funny. That WR Blue is always nice…

I’d also think the tS in WR Blue would help resale value. Just sayin’

I've had the new Ram for a week now and here are some impressions compared to my old one.

The interior of the Laramie is certainly more upscale and I'm not kidding when I say this... I think it feels of a higher quality than my Mercedes. I'm enjoying the heavier option load and the Harmon Kardon stereo is the best I've had in a car... hands down. A little bright out of the box, but when adjusted will literally blow you out of the cabin.

The twin turbo inline six is just a beast of an engine. It's extremely smooth, I don't notice any turbo lag and it will out accelerate the Hemi. The transmission holds onto higher gears a bit, but I think the software will learn it's way out of that with my heavy foot. Only issue (not really) is it sounds like a 4 cyl Toyota Camry. The exhaust is beyond tame... again no issue for me but I could see some guys taking offense to it.

Ride wise it feels nearly identical which is a touch surprising considering the 22 Ram was a 3" lift and had more aggressive tires. I also really don't notice any difference with this one having the standard bed and being 9" longer.

Overall, I'm happy. I haven't paid much attention to gas mileage yet, but from what I read it should be a little better than the V8
