But my '00 Silverado E/C Short Bed, 5.3l, 3.73 rear, 4WD is getting between 11.5 and 18.0 (city to highway), and it doesn't matter since it is a big truck. FYI
Thanks!

Has anyone heard of problems like this? If so, is there a fix? Thanks, Tami

p.s. A special order becomes a vehicle in stock when the delivery truck drives into the dealership.
Ours has been tested for consumption and found it used a quart every 1400 miles.
We have a letter from GM that states it is normal for that engine to use a quart every thousand miles.
Am I the only one who thinks that is ridiculous!!
If anyone has encountered this same problem lets get together and see what recourse we have.

ppwagen Re: msg #712.. I went to the NHTSA site and plugged in your '96 Bourbon .. maybe these service bulletins they list might help out http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/tsb/Servicemmy5.cfm
rhansen3 Re: msg# 732.. no coupon actually needed ..all you have to do is show the dealer proof of Suburban ownership.. also in a previous post someone posted that GM authorized crossover from the Chevy Tahoe/Suburban special incentive to the GMC Yukon/YukonXL.. the program is good from 3/1/01 thru 6/30/01 ALSO.. see the copy of my coupon in post # 693 you have to be the current owner of a Tahoe/Suburban not a Blazer, etc.. but as I said.. no coupon is needed.. just proof of ownership of a Tahoe.Suburban..
I live in the Myrtle Beach,SC area.. have been getting 16mpg around town in mixed driving.. over the road on trips down to Florida I get 17+mpg doing '5-10 mph over' on average on the interstate..I don't 'gun-it' ...no jackrabbit starts.. those days of my sports cars are long over..I need 'room now'... I have 38K miles on a '99 Suburban 1500LT 4wd 5.3L..actually gotten better the more miles I've put on it..
just had Chevy put new front brakes in for first time this week..did pretty good with originals.. but really hard to compare the way we drive here to actual big city driving with mileage and brakes like up in NY and on Long Island where we transplanted from 11 years ago.. also had Chevy fix a water leak thru the right rear door under warranty.. pretty decent dealer.. did it via a service bulletin I pulled from the NHTSA site on 'water intrusion-rear compartment' even though vehicle was out of warranty by 2K miles..
Also, does the On Star system work as an everyday hands free phone like my dealer just informed me or is he misinformed. I want a integrated hands free phone set up but I want to be able to take my phone with me when I exit the vehicle. Any info would be appreciated.
I would like to do this after talking to an On Star operator. The system was very clear, and she could hear me without talking loudly.

PS. I love the six disc single slot CD changer
Also can anyone reccomend a So Cal dealer who will sell close to invoice?
This looks like the last auto show in our area (SoCal) for awhile according to GMC website.
I hope this helps.
