$300 or $600? I assume for both seats? I assume
they were Toyota heaters not aftermarket? Any idea of how long it took? Did Toyota national get involved? I assume there was no negative impact to look and feel of resultant seat.
I too looked at all three vehicles and chose the MDX. I'm not here to bash the SQ, but krisko was wrong on a couple of points. The MDX w/ Touring Package MSRPs for $39450 (not $42K as krisko posted). It is the loaded SQ Ltd that MSRPs at about $42000. At the time we bought there were no discounts available on SQs, so the MDX was significantly cheaper. As far as exclusivity goes there will only be about 35-40K MDXs built this year.
We also own an Expy (for sale now) and the size comparisons are very deceptive. Second row seating is more or less equal among all three. MDX has superior cargo room with the 3rd seat stowed (folds flat in MDX, tilts in Expy and SQ).
Granted MDXs third seat is smaller but it is more than adequate for us. We are not concerned with towing. MDXs superior handling and gas mileage is nice as well.
Domination depends on which forum you're writing on. Over in MDX you'll read MDX completely dominates this segment. Can both be right? Of course because that is a subjective judgement. Every owner bought what was best for them at the time. As far as engines go, I don't have to kid about replacing the MDX engine. Objective testing has proven it has superior acceleration, gas mileage and emissions. Indeed MDX is ULEV rated in all 50 states.
Also the MDX has won virtually all the major media awards this year, not the SQ. To me and many others it is the clear winner. I have no doubt that resale value will be quit good for this award winning SUV.
Leather Seat Maintenance

If you have the money for leather seats, then I'd say get them.
Have you ever sat in an automobile with cloth seats that was owned by a family with two or more kids? It's disgusting. With cloth the juice does get soaked in and the cheerios do get mooshed into the seats...and I haven't even gotten to the smell of it all yet!!
Do what you feel is in your best interest. Not only considering the kids, but also financially.
Again it is a subjective matter and if you're going to keep this vehicle for any kind of length of time, I would also think the leather would hold up better.
Good Luck.
Leather, all the way. If it were cost-worthy to add leather to my little "commuter" Echo car, I'd do it in a hot second. It's just not a good investment to add leather to an Echo, LOL!

I am really enjoying it. the best part is there isn't 1 sequoia on every street corner. when I purchased my honda accord, it felt like every third car was a honda. The sequoia rides great. I was on the highway doing 65 and it felt like I was doing 30. very smooth ride. I test drove a gray limited and they tried to push that one on me. for that kind of money you should get what you want. I told them I only wanted silver and they called me the next day to come pick it up.
good luck.
Thanks
Nick
Second SUV, I treated seats with good leather protector and place large color coordinated towel on the seat, so far not unusual wear. One should also place towel under toddler seat or boosters.
You would think in this world that the customer rules, however, very few if any Mfgs, offer vinyl seats, which are more practical than leather with kids. However consumers I would think it should be a no charge as is cloth seats and MFGS would make less money.

I've had good experiences with cloth for the last two SUVs with three kids as well, making it successfully through the Cheerios and juice box stages. Chicken nuggets and french fries also caused no damage. The most interesting experience was bringing home the new Jeep Grand Cherokee from the dealer and having my son dump a chocolate ice cream cone jelly side down right on the cloth seat! While I cringed at the time, I still laugh about this one - no permanent damage, just a quick clean after we got home.
Pick your poison, and what makes you happy.
I concur, get leather if you can aford it. Younger children, and their parents will spill stuff into the seats. Cloth seats can get very nasty. I find that leather is easier to take care of. Leather or cloth, I would recommend that you put something on the seats to cover them when using car seats.
<Edmunds_Moderator> TomG: I live in Wisconsin...but was playing around with the TMV tool and found that when I put in different zip codes, I got different amounts for my car. Why is that?
<TMV_Team> TomG: We have determined that location is also a key driver of value.
<TMV_Team> An example: a convertible in Minnesota vs. southern CA.
Note that you have to "Price Your New Vehicle" to customize your TMV for your area. Popular rigs like the Sequoia may be similarly priced across the country, and like cliffy1 says, sometimes you can do better (the dealers aren't obligated to accept TMV either).

1. third row seats removed, second row seats up
2. third row seats removed, second row seats tumbled forward all the way.
Please provide conservative numbers - measurements from narrowest/ shortest points of reference.
Thanks

Well when the other choices are, IMHO, contrasting fenders "Hey! Look at my fenders!" and chocolate brown plastic straight out of the 1970's, the decision got down to silver/grey real fast. It's hard to believe that a multi-billion dollar car company can miss the mark this bad but this is my first foreign car and maybe the disconnect with modern American taste is par for the course.
cheers
Limited 4x4
Jade Mica/Oak

Price Offered-$42,700
MSRP-$44,700
Can anyone comment on if this a good deal? I'm located in New Jersey.
One other note, I have a contact at the port that pointed me to the regional Toyota office who in turn spoke to this dealer about helping me out but not sure if they are really doing me a favor.
Thanks!!

Has anyone out there actually purchased a Sequoia from Tuscaloosa for anywhere near that price? Both Dianne and Cliffy have told people to be cautious. Someone said they were having one delivered to their door for 300 over plus a couple hundred dollar deliver charge but they never posted back that they actually received the truck.
Where is the dealer?
I have been reading the comments on the Toyota Sequoia with interest. THey helped me a lot in my purchase of a 4X4 limited. I purchased that on Dec 28 and have put in 5000 miles so far.
I leased it with a purchase value of 41, 627 and a residual of 21 and change. IT is a 4 year lease through toyota motor lease. My payments are $673.45 with property taxes (it is quite high in RI). I truly enjoy the vehicle. IT is the best vehicle I have had. The acceleration is fantastic, it is very quite and comfortable. We have had 2-3 snowstorms and it has been very good in the snow. The mileage was 13 and has now improved to 14. My only complaint is that the vehicle is limited to a speed of 102 mph. Once again thank you for your comments on the vehicle. IF you need a new Sequoia dealers in RI are good. Call Colonial Toyota or Tarbox Toyota. THeir prices are very good!
For those of you who are experiencing the loud diesel or "tapping" noise, I found this on another board. It looks like this guy hit paydirt with his dealer's fuel injector diagnosis...
*******************************************
"IT'S FIXED!!!
I now have no noise, no diesel, no tapping, no clicking, nothing.
Apparently the noise was coming from the injectors. My dealer insulated, small pads, around the wiring harness coming off the engine. They also put small pads on the wiring harness at the firewall. I believe around the wires and between the mounting bracket and the firewall. I gave it a quick glance under the hood and could not see the pads. The service manager said that differences in how tight the wiring and wiring harness are makes the difference on why some hear the noise and some do not.
It's awesome. I am a happy camper now. This truck had the diesel noise loud.
Don't know if this will solve everyone's problem, but I would encourage those with the "noise" to contact their dealer about insulating the injector wiring harness.
BTW, the dealer said that the oxygenated fuel had nothing to do with my noise."

Get this idea to your dealerships' mechanics and see if this info helps. Certainly worth exploring.
It's the only SUV that I like and been able to find with a gray exterior and oak (tan) interior. I'm not a big fan of the light gray interior personally.
I thought the Chestnut Pearl was the color that looked awfully funny with the lighter colored fenders.
After seeing some of the colors in person like the Thunder Gray and seeing them on the web-site or even on the brochure, it is much prettier in person. I wouldn't count on the computer or brochure when making a color choice, you really need to see it in person.
We're hoping to purchase one of the 4WD in the summer and Thunder Gray is my only preference so far...and I'm quite particular.
wondering if anyone could share their lease info on SEQ SR5 4X4 - down, number of months, negotiated price, residual, payment (tax if app), drive off, etc. I read on another board that Toyota residuals for 36 month was around 69% and 48 months 61% - this seems good and wondering if this jibes with real world leasing..
Thanks in advance!
Heck, from my perspective, they all look great headed down the driveway with a registration in the window! The faster I sell them as they hit the ground, the more we get next time around.
