Correction on MSRP $41,305.
(sorry -- people at times read only headers!)
2) I noticed on a test drive that the Seq. (and it's true on the TLC and similar veh) that if the 4x4 l/h shifter gets moved into Neutral that the Seq will drift whether or not the column shift is in Park. (Some gearheads are saying "no duh" about now.) Perhaps curious teenagers or co-workers who occasionally share the driving should be reminded of this.
The Land Cruiser has had this same system since the 2000 model year.
Of course, having all that stuff might allow them to defend themselves better in court ("We designed in every safety device we could think of. Its not our fault the truck crashed").
Maybe I'm missing something though. Do you suppose its possible that the Seq becomes uncontrollable WITHOUT the computer assists???? Hmmmm, I'll have to ponder that one.
Baiting me?
Not biting.

Thanks.
There was another person who shared your views that the driver alone should be in total control and not rely on assistance from the vehicle or other safety equipment. Why don't you go have a chat with him and see if his views have changed. His name was Dale Earnhardt.
Several years ago there were two driver deaths during a Formula One weekend. The governing body the FIA investigated the circumstances of the deaths and made significant rules changes to protect the drivers. Since those changes there have been no driver deaths in F1.
Toyota and the FIA have acted in like manners. Their decisions were made to prevent injury and protect life.
As good a driver as you claim if you've ever driven over black ice VSC is a nice to know its there for you.
It is from the AAA Westways monthly magazine.

Thanks for all the input from the past.

Any advise?
Next, you have a warranty issue. If the dealership does things correctly, this will not be a problem. The dealer has to enter the VIN into the TDN system. If they don't, you will have extreme problems getting warranty work done.
The biggest problem is the odometer. Before they come into this country, the odometer/speedometer head must be replaced to reflect miles rather than kilometers. If you ever resell the Sequoia, you must sign a statement certifying the miles are true and unaltered. There is an outstanding legal question as to whether you can sign this without exposing yourself to future litigation. This is not a settled issue and my never become a problem, but the potential exists for you personally to be held liable for selling a "TMU" (true mileage unknown) vehicle.
Be careful out there folks. The best price is not always the best deal. Some of the prices I am hearing about here raise some eyebrows. In the Central Atlantic Region, a good deal on an SR5 is $2000 off the MSRP. A good deal on a Limited is one you can get in less than 2 weeks. If you can get $1000 off the MSRP, you did well. There is a regional shortage of 4x4 Limiteds and I don't see this changing any time soon.
One last thing here. There was a person who posted a few days ago about one in MD for $2500 off the MSRP. He then said he was paying tax, tags and freight in addition to the price. This means he actually paid $2020 off the MSRP because of the "freight bump" which is pretty common in the Washington DC area.
After 4 months of due diligence, we're ready to start talking price with area Toyota dealers. We're starting via internet & are willing to travel a reasonable distance if the price is right.
We've heard about some decent dealers (e.g. Chambers, Attleboro Toyota). Any others? Any recommendations/warnings on which dealers to avoid?
Thanks to all in advance.

That new Sequoia is a dream SUV to you but it's just another UNIT to the dealer....and he wants to move it before his competition sells it to you.
THINK PEOPLE. You have the MONEY! You have the upper hand, regardless of the stories they feed you.
I know. I had 4 dealers competing for my business for a new Sequoia for thousands UNDER MSRP!
And I'm now driving this beautiful UNIT. CHEAP.
Any questions?
who THINKS! Thank you SO much for your sage advice!
Why don't you scan in a GIF of your purchase order
and show us non-thinking beasts how a man of your superior intellectual capabilities does it.
While you're at it, why don't you scan in the purchase order from your supposed Benz (from your profile).
cheers
Good luck on the Sequoia-quest. Keep us updated on how the shopping goes.
Please if you are new to this board, avail yourself the time to read through *some* of the posts, and you'll most probably find the answer to your question BEFORE you post...
Scottphillip the 46k price for a Canadian car is very high, what do they get for the US version?
Like I said, in Seattle the Canidian units are about 2k less than the US units and going for 42k
Was not meant to sound as it did actually. Sorry to offend. My point is that these vehicles can be bought for less. Period.
1dog: I bought in Florida. Sequoia 2wd Limited with many options including:
JBL premium 3-in-1 combo 6disc CD w/10spkrs.
Side air curtains
Rear spoiler
Moonroof w/tilt/slide
Bug deflector
Sunroof wind deflector
wheel locks
cargo net
carpets/trunk mat
white letter Michelin pkg.
24k gold plated emblems
Toyo guard protection W/undercoating etc.
Price was 43,590.73 plus dlr. add'l profit of 2500. plus 6% + 50.00 tax.
Also tag/reg. transfer fee 233.
Delivery/document fees 325.
Dlr. prep 399.
Battery/tire fee 6.50
filing fee 16.00
Anyway, these are the figures on the original order form.
After the deal was completed the order form was slightly altered to reflect new pricing.
I paid 42k for this vehicle, including tax.
Yes, 42,000.00 even was my drive-out price.
I might add that this dealer was not honest and tried to screw me before the deal was done. Naturally he wanted to charge me more but I had a legal signed purchase order he could not get around but he tried. Not proper to get into all the details here.
Now concerning my Benz. I paid very close to MSRP.
In fact, I paid MSRP and paid dealer cost for all options. Very little discount and a 2 year wait. But a nice car.
That means I paid 39k plus tax. That means over 4k in options that were included at no charge as one way to look at it. Now that is completely out of the ordinary considering the options, the scarcity etc.
Now my point is not how good a deal I got but how good a deal is possible regardless of the dealer hype. And so far as members of this forum not being idiots, I agree. And I apologize.
Rather than defending myself from now on, is there anybody here that I might help? That's my purpose of posting here- to see if I can help with my purchase experience.
