Most employers enjoy a similar reputation.

Name me one journalist on Fixed News, that isn't anti-union??? They got rid of Alan Colmes, right??? Hannity, had him fired. The only one that has any leanings towards the left might be Phil Donahue or Geraldo, both of whom are punching bags for O'Reilly, Hannity, Beck, and others.

Beg to differ. That is Fox News. They are the only one giving factual, credible reports. Even CNN had no ratings gain despite their attempts to keep up with MSNBC who also had no ratings gain. Fox increased 33% viewership. While CNN tries to call itself fair and balanced, it's not. As long as wulf blitzer is there CNN can't be unbiased.

Seems the secret is out on Buick. I was searching for used Park Avenues and the prices are hella high on high-mileage Park Aves! Wassupwitdat? :confuse: I'd consider a LeSabre Limited, but it seems to be a rare bird.
To each his own but I think the Lucerne Looks better. :shades:
Congrats Rock!
But it was Edwards Deming, an American, who taught them to make cars better from the get-go, and simply build the quality in...when you consider, sometimes, that it is just a few seconds or a few dollars more to make the components better, I am amazed that the Big 3 shunned Deming's thoughts...
Had we taken Deming's thoughts to heart, he never would have gone to Japan, and our cars would have been the showcase for the world...
Instead we went downhill for 30 years, and are just waking up to the concept of quality...too late, however...
Think what we could have had if the UAW mental-midgets understood what Deming had to say...the Vega and Pinto would have had the built-in quality of the S-Class Benz...
What a hateful and borderline racist thing to say. Don't forget we fought Germany as well. I'm thankful of Japan and my personal Japanese friends. They brought us Nintendo, Sony, Samsung, HDTV, and all the cool cars in the Fast and Furious movies.
I find that ironic that India has bought much of the money making industries from the UK. Biggest steel makers now their auto manufacturers. Justice would be putting the Brits to work as slaves. As they did to the people of India for about a 100 years.
I'm Norwegian, descent. My great great grandfather was European Sailboat Champion from 1900-1902.
You are dreaming if you think Norway will let a rabble rousing US citizen into their country. Unless you have some special training and expertise they don't want you or anyone else.
From your posted article about Norway:
Around 1975, both the proportion and absolute number of workers in industry peaked. Since then labour intensive industries and services like factory mass production and shipping have largely been off sourced.
I think you have much to high of a regard for much of the EU that has been supported by the USA for close to a century. That includes Norway getting aid from US under the Marshall plan. I am mostly German decent at least 150 years ago when my families immigrated to the US. Just like the US, the EU has outsourced the intensive labor jobs to countries with cheap labor.
You and the UAW have made it clear you do not want to work for what the job is worth. Why should GM prolong the agony? Shut down US manufacturing through C11 and just keep the engineering and executives in the USA.
Is actually South Korean, and the largest conglomerate in the World. They passed up Sony as the largest consumer electronics company in 2005. They have more employees than GM and nearly 4 times the assets. GM & the UAW should be so lucky as to be Samsung. Oh, and about $14Billion net profit in 2007 when the UAW drug GM well into the red ink with their strikes and poor workmanship.
All I can say is that I will continue to shop autos that are not adding to the national debt. I will also use banks that do not add to the debt.
Honda, Ford, and BMW will continue to be my go-to's for the foreseeable future.
On the way to work today I followed an Chevy Malibu. The cheap tail lights, large panel gaps, and old Chevy bow tie made me sick to my stomach.
The rebuilding of Europe and Japan wasn't "generosity", it was a defense against the red scourge that we enabled. Kind of a roundabout way of stopping the mess from spreading. Not altruism, but strategy.
And as you say, that aid isn't what allowed the Japanese (and Germans) to build desirable cars, it was a desire for quality and reliability (although they sometimes don't coexist in the same car), and a longstanding work ethic. I don't know why those traits seem to have escaped so much of the business world on this continent, as they seemed to exist in much greater amounts in times past.
I also will add that Fixed News, is hardly fair and balanced. Olbermann, is no different on MSNBC than O'Reilly or Beck on Fixed News. I think the most fair and balanced news network is CNN. They have Bill Bennent, the old guy who ran Huckabee's campaign along with David Gergen, who advised Nixon, Reagan, Clinton.

Last time I checked, everybody's new cars were depreciating.
My friend bought an '03 Accord OTD for $28k that books at about $11k today, so even the best depreciate.
That unstable country is dangerous. With each new investment the richer they become. I guess I'm the only one who is worried about the wrong hands pushing the big red button???
You are dreaming if you think Norway will let a rabble rousing US citizen into their country. Unless you have some special training and expertise they don't want you or anyone else.
I could apply for citizenship tomorrow and would be accepted. I'm Norwegian and can prove it. They like the mormons keep very detailed records of family trees. I also look like one of them if you've ever seen a pic of me.

True, because like any great society greed will sniff out the lowest bidder. Germany, lost it's nationalism after WW2. It's a damn shame.
You and the UAW have made it clear you do not want to work for what the job is worth. Why should GM prolong the agony? Shut down US manufacturing through C11 and just keep the engineering and executives in the USA.
I could say the same thing about the telephone company. I say we take a step further and increase H-1 Visa's and allow Indian immigrants who are probably more qualified to do your job than anyone you ever worked with and pay them $15-20 an/hr....I also have a way to lower healthcare costs. Bring over Indian doctors, nurses, iluv's job as a resp. therpaist that will do it for half of the cost and import all pharmaceuticals from China. All manufacturing jobs give it to the Chinese. All skilled jobs are done by the Indians. All manual labor jobs that needed to be done here in this country could be done by illegal aliens. Welcome to the "Brave New World".
I guess that is what you want, right??? If we are going to do this well lets do it all baby!!! Who ever is the cheapest get your money. Screw your fellow american and your country. If you can pinch a penny today you will have a dime to buy you security tomorrow. By the way if you think the elites aren't going to pass a law to rob your pension fund in this Brave New World, you are dreaming!!!!

So for example, if you use your $25,000 voucher hoping to flip a Charger; you will only get about $17,000 on the street.
I was also being a little sarcastic.
-Rocky
Had Florida plates and looked new. Maybe it was a fleet car.
I think that was what Bill Gates was trying to do. It is hard finding a family doctor that is not Indian or Pakistani here in San Diego. Guess what they don't work for any less than they can squeeze out. The problem is not people with skills entering the US workforce. It is those coming in illegally taking the jobs that are lower paying. That leaves an unskilled legal US citizen looking for a job. And jobs assembling cars is for the UNSKILLED and there are literally 100s of 1000s of unemployed people in every state that would jump on a $15 per hour job assembling cars and SUVs.
UAW jobs at GM are easily filled. There is no shortage of unskilled people in this country. I see one of your favorite cities are cutting their Union Police Force and hiring contract rent a cops to fill their slots. I wonder if Obama knows what has happened since he left Chicago.
PS
Anyone want my job in the Arctic are welcome to it. The guy I worked with in Alaska for 37 years is retiring on his 65th birthday this year. They did fill my slot with a guy they got out of retirement. He was tired of playing golf in Phoenix and went back to work. Great guy I worked with him 25 years ago when he was with AT&T. He is a youngster only 55 years old. Way too young to think about retiring.
Ottawa set the March 31 deadline for Chrysler to prove it can be viable so the automaker can qualify for federal and provincial aid."
CAW says Chrysler told it they are "far apart" (Reuters)
CIBC World Markets recently did an analysis that suggested the North American car business will NEVER really recover. The CIBC economists say it will be difficult for consumers to get financing for some time and this will take 15 million cars off the road. Higher fuel prices will mean another 10 million consumers will abandon their cars, and CIBC economists say that U. S.( and Canadian) car production will be NO MORE than 6 to 7 million units a year AFTER the economy recovers.
If the Big 3 can't make a go of it when sales were 12 million units + per year, then how are they going to make a go of it on only 7 million units?
Both of our governments are throwing good money after bad.....
Why is it a "damn shame"? Germany has the world's 3rd largest economy, & the average German's standard of living today is much higher than it was before WWII. I've traveled through Germany, & I don't think you'll find anyone there who wants to turn the clock back.
I wish the brass at GM and congress could here the things you wright here.
If you think everyone has a bias against GM, go sell Fords.
-Rocky
I listened to El Rushbo while running my errands this morning. First time since before the election. I can tell you that your views are closer to his than you may think. The only issue that you disagree on is Unions. That is such an insignificant part of the USA it really should make no difference. He bad mouths China, illegals, globalism, on and on. And he loves General Motors. He may be GM's best ally. I don't see what all the fuss is about. Other than Obama does not like anyone that says anything against him.
So there are 7500 UAW people that were smart enough to take the GM money and get off the sinking ship. With that voucher can they beat you down to nothing on a new Corvette and pay the difference?
I have never heard Rush, speak out against globalism but I haven't listened to him in a few years. We might have a few things we agree on but we disagree on more than we agree but perhaps he's changed his tune? I kinda miss listening to Savage, though.
The UAW workers were probably smart taking the offer. We had another dealership close today. Wayland, Chevrolet in Wayland, Michigan a town where I lived many many moons ago when I was a child well bit the dust. It won't help our business very much because they are 40 miles south of us.
-Rocky
Isn't that what Wagoner was hoping for? I think he said they need to cut about 1600 GM dealerships. Every one that goes out of business saves GM money. Somehow, not sure how. Same with UAW members. The more old dudes they get rid of the more of you young guys they can hire at a reasonable wage. Though Wagoner had his chance when the UAW went on strike last year. He could have said see you, we are shutting down and will just get what we need from our overseas plants. He just ain't the sharpest pencil in the box.
By the way the best looking Buick I have seen is made in China. The Royaum is a beauty. Too bad the US designers are so limited in their abilities. Just copying Lexus designs does not impress me. We shall see what the buyers think .
>That unstable country is dangerous.
India....and Unstable?
I am done with Mr. RockyLee. He is the brother of Mr.Hannity and Son of Bill Or'Reilly, speaking from his butt, with no application of intelligence, and expecting that the more he speaks, the more people will believe him.
On Topic, the D3, UAW or no UAW, should go into bankruptcy. Who cares why they go into bankruptcy and who is affected. A bailout is nothing more than a bailout. A dollar to a beggar. What do you think the beggar will do when he gets a dollar? Will he save up to buy a house? Of course not. He will rush to the nearest bar and have a drink, and if heas any more he will tip for a lap dance.
It is a good looking ride and I wouldn't mind having one but lets see if GM can make them at profit though. Competition is steeper than ever (Genesis, Mustang, Charger, 3 Coupe, G-8, Cayman) and Camaro has lost a lot of name recognition since 1999.
And it has the sign of no quality on it, the Bow Tie.
rocky: try listening for 1-2 days to both Rush and Hannity and you will truly be thankful that they tout GM products like they work in the UAW...considering that no one else is out there literally glowing with recos for GM products, you ought to be glad they like them...try listening, the ads will surprise you...naturally, if the dittoheads you criticize for blindly following Rush actually did what he said, GM could sell millions of cars...but rest assured, since we know that Rush is full of it, like you said, no one would believe his ranting about GM "quality" as it does not exist...at least I don't believe him, so don't worry, I certainly would NEVER buy a GM car, because someone might think I listen to Rush...so, you have done a good job, rocky, since no one wants to have the world think they listen to Rush, we will certainly tune out his GM ads...after all, they are still made by the UAW, something else that Rush "hides" in his secret agenda...how stupid does he think we are???...any fool knows that GM is a UAW company...
So, call Rush and tell him to drop GM ads, as no one would be dumb enough to buy one anyway, esp since Rush likes them...
So a Union can be a good thing IF they understand that the company is in business to make money, and not just provide jobs. The UAW Leaders or rank and file do not seem to understand that principle. A company that is not making money cannot last long. You have to look at the loss of jobs by the UAW over the last 35 years. What did the UAW do that was positive in keeping the jobs in states like Michigan. Striking a company that is losing money makes little sense to me.
I think the UAW has proven to be a negative for most of the companies it represents. They have waited till GM was on the ropes to make their meager concessions. Now it is too late. While the retirees are somewhat vulnerable, they did benefit from a very lucrative job for 25 years or more. It could be worse. I know several people here in San Diego my age living on just SS under $1000 per month. Makes those UAW retirements seem pretty darn good. With Medicare they are not going to be doing that poorly. If they have to get a minimum wage job to survive that's life.
I was in Walmart getting Miracle Grow and bird seed yesterday. The guy at the door is ALWAYS cheerful. He is about my age or a little older. He is an asset to Walmart. I followed two little old ladies out and overheard them saying, He is such a nice man. The Poorly informed can bad mouth the people working at Walmart all they like. Not all their employees are unhappy with their jobs. I wonder if the average UAW worker is as happy as the average Walmart worker?
The only products we buy from WM are MADE IN THE USA.
I dislike Rush, because he likes to blame the Clintons, for everything wrong with the country. While Bill and Hillary, deserve some blame they shouldn't take full responsibility. The UAW, is being fingered for all that is wrong with the Big 3. I am happy Rush, is promoting GM, products but his audience aren't practicing what he preaches and are buying imports.
-Rocky
I cannot recall buying anything Chinese at WalMart, except CFL bulbs this Congress has mandated, at WalMart.
Bird seed from USA
Miracle Gro USA
local raised eggs
Wine Napa Valley
Pantene Shampoo USA
Purina & Fancy Feast Both USA, My wife has never fed her cat food made in China.
Gillette razors Mexico
I prefer shopping Costco as my store is Teamster represented. It is nearly impossible to get away from made in China products. I am hoping my shoes last the rest of my life. I have not bought more than $100 worth of cloths in the last year. I buy Hawaiian shirts at the Thrift stores when I find one I like made in Hawaii. We do not have Walmart Super Centers in CA, so we do not shop for groceries there. You have also ignored the FACT that Walmart not only hires older people in need of a job. They also hire the handicapped. Your EFCA would more than likely put all of them out of a job. No company afford to keep people that are not 100% capable for high wages. You end up with the mess that GM & C are in with old worn out UAW workers. Do you really think they would be giving up to $100K to get rid of good workers?
Lemko, will like this....

During the course of the NCAA finals I have seen about 1,000 GM adds. It is great to see tax payers money at work.
Can we at least agree that Chrysler should kick the bucket? They sell about 1.5 million cars a year in the US. You could estimate that around 250,000 of those would go to GM. Nissan could take over Ram production. Mercedes could buy Jeep.
