    Great pics.

Florida folks - There's a Southeast Forum on the i-club.

Earlier this year, they had a meet in Tampa and Prodrive was there.

Interest in South Florida will no doubt pick up significantly. I'm sure i Club membership has tripled, easily, this year.

What to do? Well, a nice drive. Car shows. Swap meets. Car clinics at a dealership. Happy Hours for casual gatherings. Lots of stuff.

    where's this 100 mile marker?

Is it the Ocean View rest area mentioned @ i-club?

It's the service area just after the Asbury Park toll Plaza. Here's a map:

    http://www.gspkwy.state.nj.us/sareamap.htm

Ocean View is the final meeting place just before Cape May. There are 3 meeting points, Brookdale, Monmouth (100) and Ocean View.

I am tentatively going. I am trying to find out if family will be in that weekend. Even if they are, I may try to get out of it and go with you folks. My wife even said she might go this time! I'll let you know within a couple of days.

BTW, Matt contacted me yesterday about the skid plates. He said he has never done anything like that for a Subaru, but sees no problem. He said he'd stop by when he's on the Island visiting you.

  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
Yeah matt's a good guy. He was on the island on wed, I didn't even think to send you a msg. Usually my buddies and I do a guys night out on weds, send me a msg anytime you want to join us. Usually meet down at the dealer and shoot the breeze for a while. Side note, Ira's wife passed away, I'm going to the wake tonight :(

Sorry to hear about Ira. Please give him my condolences.

Wed nights I'm usually in Bklyn doing errands for my folks. Thanks for letting me know.

mike - thanks for the reminder. I'm usually reminded when the street in front of my house are painted with the blue lines. Guess they're late this year.

Dennis - thanks for the link.

Looks like I'll have to be in SI before 0800 hrs.

Again, I'm sorry I can't make the Cape May event; I'll be traveling to Baltimore 11/3 PM for an all-day conference I'm hosting on 11/4.

juice: If you're out there, sorry I didn't get in touch with you this past weekend - family matters intervened. Maybe we could hunt down Loosh's gig on the 3rd?

When's he playing? Time, I mean. I'll try to bring the toddler up, maybe check out the Aquarium while we're up there.

As much as you work, you should have a garage full of Subes!

    Dennis
  • lark6lark6 Member Posts: 2,565
Overworked, underpaid, Dennis. Still just one Sube, one Studebaker (no, I won't go off on that tangent again) and my wife's Honda. Oh yeah, a couple little things called a mortgage and home equity loan, and a teeny bit of student loan since I went back to school when I was 30.

juice, I don't know when Loosh is playing. Loosh - can you tell us?

mike - would it be wise for an alternate meet point. Jussssst in case any of us gets shoo'd from the underpass. What do you think?

    -Dave
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
I doubt anyone will get chased away, there are always trucks sitting there etc. If you get shoed away, just get off that exit and wait @ the service road at the end of the ramp.

Hey all, just figured I cross post this from the I-club. We are planning a 48hr marathon drive from Woodbridge, NJ covering 4 states, and a weekend of driving. Planned stops include:

    Pittsburg, PA

    Buffalo, NY

    Rochester, NY

    some backroads in the Adirondacks

    Albany, NY

    Nyack, NY

Ok looks like we are getting into the deep planning phases. Here is the plans

    http://isuzu-suvs.com/events/48hrsoftristate/

Also we are turningthis into a drive-a-thon, much like a walk-a-thon, where people will pledge $X/mile based on a 1200mile trip.

I'm going to contact Patti to see if we could get in Drive, I don't think there has been such a subie event ever 1200miles of 20-30 subies! :) Look for us in a city near you.

You gotta drive down to the DC area. I'd host a pit stop with drinks and snacks and stuff like that, plus we'd have a photo-op. Probably too far off your route though.

It's evolving into more of a Benefit Run, than just a drive so hopefully we'll get some more people to come out. Should be a blast, but I think DC is a bit far off from the course though :(

I know, this is why the Mid-Atlantic i Club chapter split from the NY/NJ/PA guys. Events were just too far for many to make the trek.

Sounds like a challenge; given that I've not done such a lengthy drive before. Hehe, probably a challenge to my wallet too :-D

    -Dave
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
    1200 miles @ 22mpg @ 1.15/gal = $63 in gas
Tolls shouldn't be more than $20 so for under $100 in gas and tolls you can have a weekend of fun filled driving! Besides we'll need someone to tell us our max speed reached! :)

    -mike
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
You forgot to factor the cost of speeding tickets, at least if you are leading the pack! ;-)

    -juice
  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
that I will have to get a CB (most likely buy) and other knick knacks to accomodate the CB/GPS usage. I might have to consider snow tires too...and Radar detector/Laser dispursing whatchamightcallit, if mike's leading the pack :-D

    -Dave
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
I'm working on a group buy of CBs from RS actually. Snows shouldn't be needed it will be on plowed roads for 99% of it. (unless we miss another exit!) I'll keep it down, say below 80! I'm scheduled to only lead the group through the adirondacks, nice and twistie... :)

Oh, man, now I want to go. Our nanny will be going on vacation for a month in Brazil, so I'm doomed on weekends because the wife will be exhausted.

Hate to rub it in (well not really) but noticed on the drive to work this morning that reg unleaded was 74.9 with premium at 94.9. Of course the bad news is that these low gas prices will just encourage more people to buy gas guzzling SUVs.

    GASP!

Actually, I got regular for 99.9 right where the NJ Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway meet. Full service too!

    Mike,

I am interested in the ride, but am curious. Will it be one driver to a car only, or should we have relief drivers? Also, I noticed you indicated staying over in DE and NY, any ideas on this? I also want to confirm that it is not a race, or a timed event. I would have to let you know what weekend works. I definitely like the idea of combining the drive with a fund raiser (Gee honey, I have to do this drive, it will raise $$ for charity!)

    Mark
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
There is no timing involved at all. Just a long drive. The more drivers per car the better. We aren't planning on staying over anywhere in-particular, most likely will either crash on the floor of I-club memebers in Newark and Rochester or in our cars for a few hrs. or grab a cheap hotel room on the fly. Basically it'll be a big bonding experience, meeting other subie owners in each city and chatting for hours on the CB radio.
