Welcome, Mike. We have get-togethers a few times per year at least. Local i-Club chapters meet almost weekly, too. Finally, SCOA (Subaru Club of America) usually does a couple of events per year, in Spring and Fall, though right now nothing is planned.

We have a weekly chat on Thursday eves, so be sure to drop in and introduce yourself.

The i-club that juice mentioned is at i-club.com.
The Tri-State Forum there is for our area. My first big Subaru meet was in Cape May with a group of i-clubbers. You could search that forum for pictures from last winter.

In the Seattle area we are having a drive to Mt. St. Helens on Oct 21st. It should be a great drive and looks to be a lot of folks interested in participating. Everyone's welcome....espcially our Canadian neighbours to the north (you know who you are) :-) Just thought I'd get some equal time for a NW Event.... :-)

Yeah. I think there is a big local even on 10/21. I'll have to look-see again. I'd love to see what the WRX owners have done in terms of mods now that they've been out for a while.

I Have been so busy with my 3 jobs and school I havent been able to check group. The nov 4th meet sounds great .Can't what to meet other subie owners from this area .I've come to realize that Subaru is a very unique car. I may have seen 10 in all my travels through Cape and Atlantic Co.
I traded a Honda Accord for my OTB and they were a dime a dozen . I just got so use to seeing them that I never really noticed it . But now Im always looking out for other subie owners .
Well let me go and ill see you all on the 4th

These were actually taken in our rendevous point at Southcenter Mall near Seattle and the Chevron station in Tumwater,WA about 70mile south of Seattle. I will post links of other pics showing the actual cruise. We had like 70 cars participating.....great turnout and the weather was....well, perfect Soobie weather!!

Oh yeah, for those that don't know, my car is the silver WRX wagon w/the 1KWKWGN plates. If you look closely you can see the painted rocker panels. I still haven't posted pics of this like I said I would.

    Stephen - Good looking pics!!!
The weather looks typical Seattle, and yes, perfect Soobie weather. :-)

Yes...just a blast! It almost makes me want to take my wagon off-road...almost. Yes, Jamie aka Subiegal was there. I love her sticker too! We certainly demonstrated what the sticker was referring to during our fun-run yesterday! We even had a couple guys do the traditional Scoobie Donuts at the upper observation lot on Windy Ridge. A couple of guys brought their wives and/or girlfriends. One guy brought his son who was all of about 5yrs old. Not all of us covered the winding, twisty roads at rapid speeds though. We had one guy have his buddy taking digital pics of us on the freeway using side shots, back shots, etc. I hope to see some of these pics posted soon and will share. We even had a guy w/his 87' Soobie wagon (a GL, I believe). We had two 96-99' Legacy sedans but mostly 98'-01'Impreza RS' and WRXs. I was one of two WRX wagons and wouldn't you know the other one was silver. :-)

Sounds like fun. We've also had a diverse range of cars at local meets. PB had an XT6 (not paisan's), two BRATs, an old GL, a pair of Foresters, and some RSs. SCOA meets always have an SVX or two.

Funny thing is, Outbacks are a rare show.

Juice: I've noticed the lack of OB's as well. I think the one day meet we had w/the Vancouver i-club at Mt Seymour in B.C. had 1 OBS and 1 OB. We had only 1 OB at the 3rd Annual West Coast Meet back in August. I'd love it if we had more diverse participants (the cars I mean) :-)

    Stephen
  • bluesubiebluesubie Member Posts: 3,497
Took my wife's OB to an i-club dinner meet. Along with paisan's XT6, it was one of the rarer vehicles there.
Saw one Outback at last year's i-club Cape May meet and another is supposed to go this year. There are usually 1-2 other OBS'.

Maybe people think these meets are only for RS' and WRX's, or for modified cars.
Doesn't bother me at all pulling up in the OB with a big Avon sticker on the back. :-D

The tri-state area now has "spotted" cards and I'm going to be putting them on the "other" Subaru's as well.

As far as why you haven't seen Legacy OBs a/o/t Impreza OBs at enthusiast events: Everyone here acknowledges that the Legacy OB basically kept Subaru alive in the US, no? Many people who may not have considered Subarus in general went for them. I'd argue that the Legacy OB is the most "mainstream" of the new-school Subarus and, as such, draw more of a mainstream ownership base, i.e., people who aren't necessarily car enthusiasts or modify their cars with aftermarket or non-standard parts.

I have to see what's happening at home. I have family coming in around then, but it would be a great way to celebrate my 40th BD! And, I have an OB!

Dennis - you could chalk up another OB. So, what's/where's the meeting place for the caravan?

Does anyone know of any Soobie events in the Miami/Ft Lauderdale area? There ain't a lot down here, but there are more and more with the WRXs...
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
bat and dave. You guys can meet me @ the usual OBX crossing and we can meet at the mile marker 100 rest area on the GSP. I figure that is where dennis will join the caravan as well.

mike - Sounds good. Confirming time later?

    -Dave
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
We'll confirm the time as it gets closer. I'm thinking of making it about 8:30ish, since we need to be @ the rest area @ 10, we can go grab breakfast in woodbridge before we shoot down to the rest stop.

Pete, you're right..there aren't too many subie events here in the Ft.Lauderdale area...none that I've seen...you may want to check the South east region of the I-club..sometimes there are events listed...

Yep, I'll be meeting the crew at Service Area 100 at 10:00 a.m.

Mark, bring the whole family! It's really a sight to see a couple dozen Scooby's driving along beach drive in victorian Cape May.

    Dennis
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
At the rate we are going there will be 50+ cars going down the GSP. Like that won't turn a few cops heads.

    -mike
  • bluesubiebluesubie Member Posts: 3,497
At the last Cape May meet, one of the Cape May cops got into the middle of our caravan. I've never seen so many Subes doing the exact speed limit. :-) He was mainly curious and asked what we were doing when we stopped at a red light. He radioed ahead to a lighthouse Park Ranger that later started to give us a hard time for not having a permit. After telling him we were just going to take pictures (he thought we were going to bbq and party) and go up the lighthouse (i.e. paying money), he cooled off. It also helped that one of the i-clubbers knew one of his co-workers.

mike - we'll probably have to make sure to keep the young 'uns in line. The WRX wasn't even out when we had the last meet.

  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
Pappa Dennis and Pappa Mike will have to keep the kiddies in line. Either that or we have 2 trains going down. The Fast Train (with me in the lead) and the Ludicrously Fast Train (with one of the whacky kids in their WRX leading)

    :)

Serge - we should try to gather Subaru owners and try to start some kind of Ft L Subaru Club.

Yeah, all six of you Florida Soob owners ought to get together! ;-)

Earmark something for September(next year) too...
I might just help y'all make seven. My next annual conference is going to be in Ft. Lauderdale (planning to drive down).

A couple more pics showing the group at top of Windy Ridge (yes, it was as cold as it looks). There is a pic of a guy named Vic w/thumbs up before he was "thumb down" and off the road...see pic of his car w/some newly found landscaping. Also don't miss the last pic of Jamie, aka Subiegal, putting her best rally face forward. :-)

OK Dave, we'll see you 9/02... but the "six" of us should be able to do something before then... Anyone besides Serge in the So Fla area?? Does anyone know if we need permission of a store to use their parking lot, "after hours"??
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
    Is that Subie Gal?

    Bob
  • outback165outback165 Member Posts: 108
No, Bob... it's not Subie Gal, but she's invited! You could come too! (At this point, when I'm at the Home Depot parking lot, I feel like I'm at a South Florida Subaru event!)

If so, then yes it's Subiegal (Jamie). I'm still waiting for some pics from her website.

My wife ('97 Impreza) and I ('01 LL Bean) are two more for your South Florida count. We're in Boynton Beach.

Right now we're at 4, and I know of a 5th (99 or 00 OB Sport) - we should be able to get a 6th in no time. Then it's a matter of where, and what the h*ll we do once we're there!! Juice- any ideas?? Are you going to the Miami Auto Show? I'm trying to get there as often as possible and see what kind of local interest there is at the Subaru "booth". Last year it wasn't that great... This year probably lots of teenagers around the WRX!
