The 48hrs of Tri-State? I'm still a "MAYBE". Still got some unfinished personal issues to take care of. BUT, I'm committing $120 (might double it) to the cause regardless of whether I do the run or not.
BTW does the handheld CB have the same range as the conventional box?

Speaking of the NY Show, if you recall, I questioned the new Forester's *World Debut,* as to whether it was going to be at Geneva (in March) or NY (in April)? Adding further confusion was that *Next Year's Highlights* release from Subaru stating that the NY Show was in March.
Well, it turns out the Subaru dealer release was (partially) right. The NY Show actually opens at the end of March (the 29th??) and goes into the first week of April. I'm not sure of the Geneva Show date however.

Still working on those free passes, though I may only know on Friday morning. Let me know if you plan to go, ateixeira@ifc.org.

A few comments:
• The Caddy CTS looks really good in person. It will be interesting to see how the public react to its radical (for Cadillac) styling.
• I don't remember seeing any Subaru Legacys. They must have been there...
• If what I heard was true, it sounds like Acura has found religion: I spoke to a salesman from the Gathersburg Acura dealer, and he said that reps from Honda/Acura headquarters confirmed the following:
> CL and TL 6-speeds will get full-fledged AWD. When? I don't know, but he swears its coming. I guess Acura finally realized you can put only so much power to the front wheels.
> In addition, the next NSX will get AWD.
> Also, the next Acura flagship V8 sedan will get AWD. This sedan, apparently will not replace the RL, but will be positioned above it to compete with Mercedes S-Class and the like! It sounds like the RL will compete with the Mercedes E-Class, and the TL with the C-Class.
Remember folks, you heard it here first.
• Honda showed its new Civic Si hatchback. I think this is one of the neatest looking cars out there!
• Toyota had their Matrix there—also very sharp looking.
• Did you know the Acura RSX only has one key hole—the driver's door! I found that out looking for the inside rear hatch lever (also missing). The salesman said that when you unlock the the driver's door the rear hatch automatically unlocks too. I don't know about the passenger door however. I guess most people use key FOBs these days, so key holes are less important now.
I'm tell'n ya, Subaru is going to have its hands full trying to keep up here. I sure hope that rumored '04 Prodrive-designed Impreza is a winner! It's going to have to be.

I'll be making my annual trek to the Chicago show in Feb '02 (it's Feb 9th - 18th). (http://www.chicagoautoshow.com) Not sure of the date just yet. Then maybe onto the Milwaukee show, which is Feb 23rd - Mar 3rd (http://www.autoshowusa.com).
Maybe in '03 I can swing the Detroit show. We'll have to wait and see.
I don't recall seeing a Legacy at the '01 Chicago show, just the new OBS and Impreza's, and the H6 Outbacks. But, I could have also missed it since I was all eyes on the yellow WRX they had on display.

I believe the MPVs were 2.5L. There were no 3.0L models there.
Bob
speaking of which...better bring this discussion to Future Models.

Join Ramana Lageman, the newest driver of the Subaru Rally Team USA, and Ed Bentley of PRODRIVE to discuss the performance of the team drivers and the WRX after the first rally race of the 2002 season. Again, the cars (I say "cars," because that's how they're classified) are dominated by SWB Mitsubishi Pajaros (Monteros). I did see a Mercedes ML, several Mitsubishi Montero Sport derivatives, a few Nissan pickups.
The trucks are dominated by huge Tatras, and the bikes are dominated by KTMs. There was also a boxer-twin BMW and a I believe a Honda.
I have to tell ya, the photography of this event is absolutely stunning!
Bob
I think we're making the flatlanders jealous!
Cheers!

Nothing says "party" like a massive piano bar attended by 15,000 people, with a lot of lifestyle choices thrown in. Actually, described that way, it just might be.......nah, not for $50. ;')
We'll be in Florida in February for a wedding, so Mickey and I will wave to you guys.
