It may have moved, but it should still be in there. We are up to 250 pics now. You are on page 4 of the pics IIRC.

It was a good thing too; I ran across 5 bridges out that forced me to retrace the route on the fly. As a result of rerouting we'll be going over more gravel and even a little mud. All told a good solid 6 hours of driving.

There are some really beautiful views on this route. There are also plenty of covered bridges, one-lane roads, abrupt changes in road surface, and twisties galore. I even managed to find us a decent place for lunch, just above the Delaware Water Gap, at the spot where the Appalachian Trail crosses from PA into NJ. The route does take us through the edge of Easton 2x and through the heart of Bangor (small town) and Nazareth. Consider them transit stages of a sort.

Anyway, as promised I will write up the details of where/when we'll meet (Lambertville, NJ, see above for directions; goal of taking off by 9:00 AM) and post here, as well as sending them to paisan to post on his website.

    Should be fun.

Largest Subie Gathering on the East Coast ever!

    100+ cars.

Unfortunately my XT6 AT had to be flatbedded home, subarus CANNOT go over 9" curbs at 55mph w/o damaging the suspension!

    Mike,

Nice photos, but I'm sorry to hear about the damage to your XT6. So, your post begs the question, what happened?

BTW, who's tricked out Forester is that?

Took a guy for a ride a friend of a friend from PA, and was drifting around a T intersection and misjudged the concrete triangle thingy, wound up taging the last 1 ft. of it which was a 9" curb, pushed the wheel into the fender. Haven't had a chance to look under there yet, not sure if it's frame damage or just tie-rod/A-arm/shock, etc.

Great time and nice pics. paisan, glad you're ok. Those black Legacy's look nice. I think they were gone by the time we got there. Who has the "H6" RS?

lark6, paisan, hypov and myself were the Edmunds crew that were there. Although hypov arrived as I was leaving.

Ed, my wife is thinking twice about going with me on the drive next weekend. She doesn't like too many twisties and was getting freaked out with the way you were describing them. :-) I said to just get some Dramamine.

Yeh, wished I could had made it earlier :(
Had errants to run, and... just when I thought I'm free the "Go get this with the wagon" strikes.

  • lark6lark6 Member Posts: 2,565
Dennis: I'm sorry, didn't mean to scare your wife - usually I only scare mine ;-). (Maybe I'll buy Dramamine multi-packs to hand out?) If you take these roads at a reasonable rate of speed you will be fine, and the views are worth it. OTOH if you drive like paisan drove yesterday you too may have to be flatbedded home (sorry Mike). I posted a link on the drive thread in i-club describing "The Pace," a motorcycle technique that empahsizes vehicle control over raw speed. I recommended everyone read it beforehand as I don't intend to have us going much faster than we did last time. The WRX guys will either have to be patient, zip around us, or hang back a ways. The latter may be the answer as it looks like we have at least 15 cars going.

The blue Forester (an '01 L) belongs to a guy named Shawn (Sean?) from the Princeton, NJ area. There are a lot of Foresters roaming around Princeton but I'd never seen his before. He goes by screen name momoney627 on i-club.

Wish I could have gone. rats. A bit too far on a Saturday that needed other things done. 1hr travel prolly would have been o.k., but not 2+

Who from the NYC area is going this Sunday? I thought I saw Dave and Dennis- anyone else? Do you folks want to head out together?

Also, Ed, what time are we supposed to meet in NJ?

    Thanks,
    Mark

BTW, looked like fun at Rallispec! Maybe, next time.
  • bluesubiebluesubie Member Posts: 3,497
    Mark,
I'm actually in NJ. I think we're meeting at 9:00.

    -Dennis
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
on the drive. I'm not sure I'd want to take the red xt6 if I get it going on such a long trip w/ a beginning to go bad clutch.

    -mike
  • lark6lark6 Member Posts: 2,565
Dennis, Mark, Dave: I'll be there by 8:30 but yes, we're set to meet at 9:00.

paisan: Sort of expected you'd be out after Saturday. I imagine someone could bring you as navvie but you may just want to go watch the Giants Stadium auto-x or work on the XT6s(?).

Nice to hear Rallispec is back!

Bummer about the XT6? Did you forget you were not driving the Troopah? :-(

  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
I took the turn a bit too speedily (90 degrees 55mph, sand on edge) and the concrete triangle divider was a bit longer than expected and I whacked the last 1' of it with the left front. Had I slid it into the concrete it would have rolled us for sure.

We could meet up where we met last.
    I'll keep you posted.

    PB RUN:
Once again, I can't make it(-: I'll be in Charlotte, NC that weekend. Let me know what your target dates are for next month, this way I can try and put it on the calendar now.

    Sunday Back Road Drive:

Dave, sounds good. Let me know what time. Also, did you get a CB, or a FRS radio?

    Mark
  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
    Mark-

    right now, FRS.
I might have a CB, don't know yet.
I haven't figure the time yet too.
And, you might be the only OB there. I may have to go with the OBS on standby.

    -Dave
  • bat1161bat1161 Member Posts: 1,784
No problem if I'm the only OB- I was the only one on the 48hr run, as well as the only wagon! I'm kind of used to it with i-club events. I'm going to have my nephew with me; I figure somewheres around 7:45 or so to make it out there by 9?
It looks like I'll have both, CB and FRS(I borrowed my co-workers).

Paisan, if you want to come along as a passnger for once, you are more than welcome.

    Mark
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
If dave wants to borrow my CB setup he is welcome to borrow it, let me know.

    -mike
  • bluesubiebluesubie Member Posts: 3,497
Dave, I was having fun being the most unique one at meets. The only OBS' I've run into were at dinner meets.
I don't blame you though. It's probably a little more fun in the twisties, albeit a little slower.
Unless we decide to take the OB and be the only one with dual sunroofs.
    Decisions, decisions. :-)

This message goes out to all you who've spent lots of time and money turning your Subarus into stylin' rides. I will be hosting the Subaru display at the 15th Annual Automotive Showcase of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, Florida, and am inviting you to display your dressed up Impreza, Legacy or Forester.

The show will be at Northwood University in West Palm Beach from Friday March 22nd through Sunday March 24th. Each day, the show opens at 10am and closes at 6pm. If you want to display your car, you can bring it any one of those days. Space is limited and it will be on a first come first serve basis. This is a great opportunity to show off your Subaru and to see what other Subaru owners have been doing to their rides.

Please email me if you're interested or with any questions or if you need any more info.

Thanks in advance and looking forward to seeing you there.

  • bluesubiebluesubie Member Posts: 3,497
Cool, something for the 5 (or is it 6?) Florida Subaru owners. :-)

Sebastien, have you posted this on the i-club?
    http://i-club.com/forums/
There's a Southeast Forum there. You could even try the Mid-Atlantic and Tri-State Area Forums as well. A few NY area folks have made trips to FL for meets.

You guys think you can make it from OBX to Lambertville in an hour? That's ambitious but then again it is Sunday morning. ;-)

    see ya,
    Ed
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
it's not *that* far, although I won't be there :(
    -mike
  • bat1161bat1161 Member Posts: 1,784
    Ed,

Looking at the map Lambertville doesn't appear to be that far from Flemington. It usually takes me 45 min to an hour to Flemington Subaru on a Sat.

    Mark
  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
I checked Yahoo Map and it's estimating 1 1/2 hour, but at what MPH.
I'll check my GPS this even against my recorded avg. speed and see what it says.
I think Mark and I could knock it in an hour.

  • bat1161bat1161 Member Posts: 1,784
    Dave,
Just checking in.See you at the usual spot at 7:40-45.
Any changes, give me a call.

    Mark

BTW, I think we can be there by 9. We'll just have to drive Paisan style:-)
  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
    OK
    7:40~45
    FRS = 14
    CB = 20

    I'd e-mail you earlier.

Hmmm Paisan style... only Paisan can do that ;-)
I think 70~75 will get us there in good time.

  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181

Had a great time on the Drive yesterday. It was nice seeing Ed, Dave, Mark and his very funny nephew. I believe we covered most of Eastern PA. :-) There were around 15 Subies and we saw some very beautiful scenery. I'll check the i-club for pics.

Patti - You have to go on a drive one of these days!

svx - Hi Bew :-) and welcome to the Subaru Crew. I'm not sure if we have anyone here in your area. We may have one or two.
You can also check the New England Chapter at www.i-club.com.

Dennis: nice to see the other models represented. I saw a Forester, an Outback Sport (yours?), and a pair of Outbacks, old and new.

paisan: is Bedabi pictured? Is that his RS at the bottom?
