I had a nice time yesterday. It was great to see Dennis, Ed, and Dave with their significant others.

Ed: thank you for all the work of laying out the route, and making sure everyone had a copy. You did a great job!

    Dennis: Nice Pics!

Dave: Nice to drive out from the city with you. We made great time going out, I think Mike would even be proud (40 minutes).

It was great to see so many different Subaru's together. There were quite a few wagons (2 WRX; 3 OB, and 1 OBS) there, which was nice to see for a change:-) My nephew came away quite impressed with Subaru and the people who drive them.

When is the next drive in April?

Just curious, as I am going to be away for a few days, anyone going to the NY show? I know Mike and Dave were talking about it. Did anyone pick a day yet?

are having a fun run on April 7th to Port Townsend,WA. Pt.Townsend is a victorian style town on the Strait of Juan De Fuca in the NW section of WA State. It should be a fun time and it looks as if quite a few people will be participating. Most of us from Seattle/Bellevue and points north will be meeting and taking a ferry across Puget Sound together. Those from the South Sound area will be driving across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and meeting us over on the Olympic Peninsula. All are welcomed to participate.

    Mike ,
Put me down as a tentative yes for the PB. Unfortunately Uwarrie is going to be no good for me, as I was reminded of a prior committment. See you this Wed... I guess we'll work out time & place.

Note how thoroughly the new Mini Cooper stomped H stock. Also note that this stock mini was also quicker than many of the top STS times. A set of coilovers and a little exhaust work and that thing is going to go like a scalded cat. And that isn't even the S.

I have no idea how it ended up in H-stock, that was a big mistake by SCCA, I'm sure it will move up next year. Also it was against a Protege and an Accord, and it didn't stomp STS that badly. Was it running R-compounds? STS doesn't allow Rs.

Took 2nd place in H-stock today using my dad's '97 Legacy L w/Automatic! Yippie. Of course I did use my R-compounds though :)

Shall we set a meet place and time?
    6:00pm? Place..."No Eye Deer". :D
I should be able to get off from work ~5:30pm and cab over from 245 Park with a work colleague (Nissan guy).

loosh: that's 'cause they're so small! LOL. Seriously, those are pretty good results, with the best novice time by a full second. So it's easy to drive fast, too.

paisan: is that with a 2.2l? Wow, nice driving.

Well, I'm going to the NY Show after all. I was trying to work out a way to stay that late, but it looks like Bob and I are going to take the train up just for the day, Tuesday. Sounds crazy, but he talked me into a marathon day.

I'm peeved because we had been invited to the beach this weekend, and at the last minute they cancelled on us. Otherwise I would have spent Easter weekend (plus a few extra days) in Conneticut with the in-laws, and then could meet up one evening with you guys. Bummer.

But we didn't plan the CT trip, so I'll make it up just for the day. Still, should be cool to see one of the major auto shows, after going to several smaller ones. Not to mention we'll be talking cars for about 20 hours straight.

the '97 with the 2.2l Slushbox. Found it was better to put the AT in "3" than try to manually control it in "2" and "1"

    44/136 overall and 2/7 in H-stock.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Not bad, I would have considered it an accomplishment to finish lower than 100!

    in a real car! :)

I'm looking forward to kick H-stock butt with the XT6 now that it has a clutch.

    -mike
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
That's right, you hosted a shop day, right? How's the "bite" with the new clutch?

    -juice
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
A family friend has a shop at his house so he did it for me for $300 which included changing the diffy fluids and MT fluid as well and replacing a stud on the rear wheel that was stripped.

It is biting pretty good now, and I can punch it nicely out of turns. I just have to get used to gently letting out the clutch to prevent driveline banging.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
A bargain for all that work, no question.

    -juice
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
    And resurfaced the flywheel too.

so total with the clutch and pressureplate and bearings was $700.

    :)

I'm thinking of attending. Never been to one of these. Any thoughts on getting the most out of it? I'm thinking of taking my 12 year old son but I'm concerned it might all be a bit to esoteric. He loves the WRX we just got but is not otherwise car obsessed. Is there much traipsing through the woods or can we see some action without mounting a major wilderness expedition.

    Thanks,
    Tim

But I'm not sure what it exactly is or what the event will be like! Heck I'm not sure I'm even going.

    Hey Mike,

Isn't Rim of the World same weekend as PB? I don't think even you can make it from one to the other over night:-)

Has anyone been to it before? I live about 90 miles from there and am thinking about heading up there on Saturday, I'm looking for a good place to watch from but don't really know the course or area that well.

Pine Barrens run may have an X5 showing up! It'll be fun pitting Bat's OB v. the X5 :)

    -mike
  • lark6lark6 Member Posts: 2,565
Won't be able to attend but really want to see what happens to the X5. Kudos to the owner already for even thinking of taking it somwhere rougher than a mall parking lot.

Me vs a X5 huh. That should be interesting. Too bad I didn't get the skid plates in time. I just have to check with work. We're moving this weekend and I may have to come in just to check things over. I'm trying to get the OK to come in Saturday instead of Sunday. I am really looking forward to the PB run.

For coming to cheer on the Scoobies at the auto-x @ Giant's Stadium today! We had a ball as usual 30+ scoobies at the event out of maybe 100 cars.

Got to take a WRX for a fun-run and a 2.5RS. Good fun.
