Since I already have a groovy (wow..where did that word surface from?) WRX wagon and (assuming Subie models available in the US of A in 03'model year), I choose a silver mono-colored 5spd Baja. It would be a great compliment to my silver WRX wagon. :-)
I've already received my refund (unfortunately in Canadian $), but I would probably go with the OBS. I know it's heresy, but I really don't need the power of the WRX. Other possibility would be the 2003 Forester with moonroof, without leather, unfortunately AT.
Ed: we're sorry, juice is back in therapy with Ross after yet another request for a Blitzen. He'll be there until Subaru brings over a turbo model with space for 2 kids and a nanny
I am afraid that our govt would probably ship me a late '80's Loyale (postage collect) for what we are getting back!!!
Finished printing and assembling the packages at 1:30am this morning. Had some problems that required multiple calls to the IRS, local school district, tax attorney over a 1099misc. Took weeks to get resolved, and pushed me right to tax day. I am starting to believe in the concept of a 'flat tax' for all the trouble our current system is worth.
The WRX is from the Tax Refund; I'd take a Silver monochrome 5spd Baja if I hit Lotto! (Just because it looks intriguing..even if it could use more power.)
Dave: No fat check here... this is a dream, remember? Mayeb enough for a set of tires, but I'd hate to think how much Subaru I could get (or not get) for 465 bucks!
Stephen: My corduroy pants are groovy (Sorry, Ross)
Welp since there is no B4, I'll take the cash, I already have a cat-back on the way for the '99 GT.....The cash would help pay for WRX front rotors and calipers, SS lines, and an LSD off a wrecked '00 OB. THAT would tide me over till my Legacy turbo wagon arrives. Oh wait, I'm not getting a refund....... =(
My Edmunds partner ticket is in hand (after a 20 minute wait in line - folks are psyched). Same rules with a few exceptions.
1. - I'll post the numbers and the ready, set, go at some point later today.
2. - I'll re-post all the disclaimers so I don't get into trouble.
3. - There will be a different question/statment that you have to post in order to become a partner.
4. - If Juice accepts, I need a "fact checker" to make sure that all who join me meet the criteria and no one is skipped.
5. - Since the jackpot is over $300 million for this drawing, we will have 30 partners. Including myself, that leaves room for 29 of you Edmunds loyalist!
I will be collecting my winnings tonight from Saturday's drawing. A whole $2.00. :-) Hey, I found a four leaf clover on Saturday! Maybe it'll bring luck to all of Edmunds!
OK, Patti, we'll help you keep count of folks that qualify.
Speaking of dreams, mine was bizarre last night. I was with this old high school buddy, who had become rich. He walked me over to a car and said he was giving it to me.
Here's the funny part. It was a Cavalier, but with HUGE off road tires, tractor sized, with fenders removed to make room. It looked like something from a "World of Wheels" show. I recall very specifically there was no angle of approach or departure - the tires were the first and last thing front to back.
Even funnier, I remember, vividly, not wanting it!
-juice
PS Ross: those meds you prescribed have some odd side effects!
hold on for another week. Once I've finished marking term papers and final exams the "virtual couch" will be open for business. My only comment about this dream is that it is cautionary. It's saying "Be careful what you wish for my friend." :~)
Didn't do so great 4/7 in my class, but without power steering working, I guess not too bad. Also only 300 miles of MT practice and 3 shifts required in this event (3rd gear course)
I stopped into the dealer yesterday to get a taillight bulb (1st replacement) and parked next to a beautiful red SVX. I mentioned it to the counter man and he said "You should have been here an hour ago." Evidently a green and a white had also been in for routine maintenance. Seems like they usually show up on the same day. Very interesting!!
This game is not sanctioned, offered, condoned, etc. by Subaru of America, Inc. It is being done solely by me for my friends here at Edmunds. I will not be liable for any flukey things that a lawyer may find nor will Subaru, because they are not participating in this. If for some reason the ticket cannot be cashed - I will not be able to take responsibility.
Now - how we can play. I purchased a ticket for my friends here at Edmunds. In order to be my partner in this, you have to have had at least one Subaru post that can be confirmed on these boards prior to this post. The first 30 people who post "Count on me" and what model Subaru is your favorite and why. The 30 partners will be entitled to share in the winnings if we hit the big money. You must post prior to 7PM Eastern Daylight Time today. We will go solely on Edmunds time and date stamp information. Your profile must have your real name and the car you currently (as of today) are driving for verification. Any winnings between $1 and $300 will be donated to the American Cancer Society (my pick because I like them). $300 and over will be split amongst the 30 people playing with me. There are two numbers on my quick pick. "B" is for Edmunds - "A" is for my husband. If, for some reason, someone comes to me today and tells me that I'm not allowed to do this, I'll let you know that the game is off.
The Edmunds Team numbers are:
02, 22, 28, 32, 39 with the Big Money Number of 34.
Make sure you follow each of the rules for partnership. My favorite Subaru is the WRX Sedan because it is quick and "new" for Subaru. I guess you can "count on me"!
Forester is my favorite since it is fairly small and nimble yet has more than adequate room for my camping gear. The road clearance is (just) enough for those nasty forestry roads I take to get to the good lakes.
Not as much as the WRXs on the body roll IIRC. It does have the swapped over suspension. The car is going to be a monster with the PS pump working. I could easily have gone faster around the turns with it working.
My favorite is the GT-B in whatever colour I can get, not that I'll get to drive it anytime soon, because of the versatility of a wagon and the twin turbo for good umph
My favorite Subaru is a WRX wagon. It's a performance car and a family hauler. edit: Oh ANY Subaru? It would have to be the 22B. No maybe the new STi Type RA Spec C. Or maybe the ... oh nevermind. I'll just stick with N. American Subes available now. :-)
My favorite Subaru is the WRX wagon because I got to carry 15 2-cu.ft bags of mulch in it(could have gotten another 10 bags maybe)...unfortunately, I now have to do landscaping my second favorite is the Legacy Blitzen Serge
My favorite Subaru is the VDC becasue it handles so well and rides so smoothly and has a great sound system. So, please count me in. My wife likes her Limited OB sedan but prefers to take the VDC when she travels.
To be honest I have no idea what size roll bar it has! Probably a not so big one. I am going to get a front roll bar cause in stock you can run any front roll bar you want, also going to invest in steel brake lines as well, since that is legal on MY92 and earlier cars in stock class.
For a stock setup it corners pretty flat, put it through it's paces last night, was rushing around picking up Conway @ the SI Ferry and shooting out to NJ to get our Big-Game tix, getting better with the MT each day.
Side note, if I win the Big-game I already have plans Going to buy large parcel of land on a river or huge lake and build a motorsports park. Items I already have planned:
o Drag Strip o Road Course (multiple configs) o Rally-x Track o Auto-x Track o Moto-x Track o ATV Trails o Off-road trails o Rally Course o Marina o Air-strip
Of course I'll need my closest friends to come help me run it and earn some nice salaries, do I have any volunteers?
The Forester is my favorite (it's the only one I've owned ;-) ) because of its size, suspension (both in terms of handling and ground clearance/articulation), power-to-weight ratio (accomplished using unleaded regular), quirky good looks and cargo capacity (there are still storage compartments I haven't used!).
Comments
I just got back enough to buy a tire

Funny, no? You ask and they say "Blitzen", "B4", "Avignon", "B4 RSK", etc. It's instinct!

Do we have to pay taxes on these gifts from the IRS??

I'm still leaning to black.
Got a name picked out too. "DW"

I tried, but all I saw was a tire

Cheers Pat.
.... a TIRE
Aw forget the dreaming. Just give me the GT-B that might sway me from the WRX wagon.

hypover - Actually I'm leaning towards black. In the UK it's called Blue Black so I'm ok to keep bluesubie. :-)

Yeah, Serge. No Cavalier. Whew!

PS What's truly bizarre is that I've never seen anything like it.
:~)
Ross
PS I'll join if I qualify.

Check out the Paisan-mobile @ the last auto-x!

So do you think it's better to drive an MT or AT in auto-x?
-Dennis
Looks like you're getting a lot of body roll, and maybe some brake dive too. Is that still the air suspension, or have you done the swap yet?

paisan: what size are the anti-roll bars? I guess the pic got taken while you were slowing and turning, so it's rolling as much as it ever does.
