I got about 4 years out of mine after total neglect. The fluid levels were way low and it was too late to save it. :-(
Reminder to everyone to check the distilled water level. "Maintenance-free" just ain't.

Did it work for everyone else?

Please load the hamsters up with carbs on chat night. I think they passed out from exhaustion.
P.S. Looks like the hamsters have been fed and are eager to start the day.

My cable was out, completely. No TV, no broadband.
I guess I didn't miss anything, though!

PS Dave - it's closed now, sorry!

I'm a bit bummed because I can't make it next week, either. My Best Man is coming up from Florida for a day and it's that Thursday.
Hey paisan: you'll like this little tidbit. The new Prius articles talk about how much focus went into aerodynamics, the cg is .26, the Subaru XT managed .27 how long ago? LOL

Happy, safe Labor Day weekend to all!
Cheers!

She's only had her license for a year so she was a bit freaked out. Good thing her boyfriend was with her, he's also older than her and I'm sure that helped.
She said the damage was minor, and noone was hurt. Looks like they hit the lower portion of the driver's door, so the cladding took the brunt of it. The impact was not strong enough to set off the side air bags, I guess the other car was coming at her and hit her at an angle.
I bet she'll need at least a new door skin, but I have not seen it yet.
It's only had the oil changed once! That's how new it is. :-(

At least they're ok though.

New car = magnet for mishaps.
Tell her we feel her pain.

They do have a beater, but my little brother drives it. It has some damage already and it's more than a decade old, so that wouldn't have been a big deal. She might not have bothered to stop, LOL.
I ought to get a chance to inspect the damage this weekend. I'll also make sure she uses OE parts, even if it means ordering through a wholesaler and having them deliver parts to a body shop, which is what I did.

Sorry to hear about your sister's accident. I'm glad no one was hurt.

My wife got rear ended about a year ago (before we bought the Forester!) and the other driver sped off. About two miles down the road, the guy managed to wrap his car around a tree and spent 7 weeks inthe hospital with his jaw wired shut. We didn't feel too sorry for the poor jerk!
Craig
I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your sister. I'm sure bad karma will get that hit-and-runner!
Hey, just have your best man join in on the chat too. It's okay to share your recent hobbies with good friends!
I'm glad to know that I wasn't the only one who couldn't get into chat last night.
Ken
We thought about it - he probably didn't have insurance. If he did, he was REALLY dumb, because how can he make a claim now? He could have just let his insurance pay for both his damage and my sister's Forester.
So he's stuck with damage he'll have to pay for once way or another. My sister will have to make a claim, though, and get that dreaded "C" on her record. Hopefully the police report helps.
Anyone know more about auto insurance? Would they put this claim under uninsured motorist, or what?
-juice
I don't know how insurance works with hit and run. I hope they won't increase her premium for that mishap.
I'm sure she'll be fine, it's just she's still sort of a NewB driver.
It would be really unfair if they raised her premium, but a claim is a claim. Once I see the damage and get an estimate, I may advise my dad to pay cash instead, if it's not more than $1000 damage. We'll see.
-juice
Glad that the hit-and-run didn't do anymore damage other than to the Forester.
-Dave
I just spoke to her again. We're taking it in for an estimate early next week, I'll share the info when we get it.

Speaking of Burlington, it is truly a Subaru town. I cannot believe that we don't have representation from there on this board.
Oh well, on to a few hundred posts on the other threads....

Ok, I found those pics I promised a while back. The show was in late 1980, I had just turned 8.

You can just see the white ball going into #4. I can see my eye for fashion was as bad as it is now. LOL!

Looks like a scene from That 70s Show, Papa Bear, is that brown polyester?

I didn't know Bozo the clown had Superheros pictures on his set!
Great photos.

Portland must be on par with Burlington, VT as a Subaru town as I saw examples of pretty much every model in the full model range from 1980 to present. For example, on the 3-mile shuttle ride from the ferry terminal to the airport I counted 42 Subies on the road.
I'm still catching up on the posts in the forums to see what the hot topics have been of late.
Ed
I read that many auto fabrics are polyester now because it doesn't fade and it doesn't absorb stains. Pretty funny.
