Maybe that's why she was missing. ;^)

I've decided to wait for 2005 models... Already 99,600 mi on my 2001 Forester and still no 2005 Foresters in sight :-(

I've been away from the board because my work load has drastically increased lately... oh well. I'll survive :-)
  • kenskens Member Posts: 5,869
    Kate:

I'm at 99250. At my usual driving rate, I'll be at 100K by the end of the month.

    How about you?

Considering that Kate's Forester has the same mileage as yours but is half the age, my money is on Kate to win that race :-)

with my 70 mi daily round-trip commute and frequent trips to the mountains (ca. 300 mi roundtrip), I think Ken has no chance :-)

Sometimes I think maybe I should hold onto my Forester until 120K... after all, it runs great (knock-knock-knock on the wood), and it's very comfortable.

Pat: Mid-90's sats on 40% is indeed improvement. Slow, steady improvement is good news, indeed.
Continued best hopes & prayers your way.

Well as you can see I am up early, today is a big day they are going to try to take her off the respirator today and we want to be with her.( it is actually 4-43am and not 5-43 as the heading says)

There is still concern about brain damage as she is hesitent to obey commands, she was able to blink her eyes in response and we are hoping and praying that she is still much too weak to lift her legs or sqeeze hands, you can see the quad muscles tightening as she tries to move her legs so we are taking that as a positive sign.

She is pitiful to see she only weighs 85lbs as she been unable eat for nearly 3 weeks because of comlications from surgery to remove teeth.

We did not know any of this as she told us she was doing okay and coping, turns out she was concerned about my health as I have not been the best lately, she just did not want to worry us so she tried to do it on her own, and just got run clean into the ground.

She only weighs around 105LBS on a good day so she could not afford any weight loss to begin with
we are positive that God did not get her this far only to leave her brain damaged. I will post again when I can.

JimmyP I did send you an E-Mail late Sunday night to your home url, I hope you got it.

      Cheers Pat.

    Pat-
My prayers for her speedy and full recovery, and strength for Rita and you..

I too think she would be too weak to move. The blinkings and muscles tightening are positive signs. :)

for the update. It sound like her recovery will be slow, but at least she "is" recovering.

At the risk of sounding stupid, am I correct in assuming that she was "allergic" to the medication which caused this in the first place? And if so, have they identified this allergy so that this will never happen again if she needs medication in the future?

We should start a pool to see who hits 100k first, and perhaps by how many miles. I'll take Kate by 150 miles. ;-)

Pat: I think those are good signs. Her brain is sending the right signals and her body will catch up soon, let's hope.

Prayers and best wishes for Anne Marie and the two of you. The human body has amazing self-protective mechanisms. One thing most people dont understand is that the body considers the brain to be a 'third tier' organ when it comes to system preservation and it takes a long time for the brain to come back online after the core systems ( heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and adrenals)are up and running again. There are too many TV stories of folks opening their eyes and jumping up from their hospital bed....it takes time;brain physiology is so complex that it requires a lot longer than most body tissue to adjust to changes in body chemistry. Get sleep when you can and take care of each other.

Well they did not get her off the respirator today, she tried but she was just too tuckered out in the test for breathing on her own they were just afraid that she would be too tired to support herself.

So they elected to try again tomorrow rather than take it out and have to incubate her again, that would have been catastophic to have to start the whole thing over again.

One postive thing when she was fully aware her neurological tests are looking much better she is responding to commands but the most heartwarming thing was, Rita was leaning over the bed telling her how much she was loved, Anne Marie put both arms around her Moms necked and hugged her tightly.

I am not ashamed to admit I did a bit of blubbering at that point.

well to bed, tomrrow morning early they try again.

      Cheers Pat.

There's nothing harder on a parent than seeing their children really ill. No matter how old they are. Glad that things are looking up, and remember to look after yourselves too.

OK. I'm going to have this done in the next few days. I recall reading quite a few posts about others having it done and their impressions. Would you mind summarizing again? What % did you get? Are you happy with the installation? Would you go darker if you did it again? etc.

    Thanks,
    -Ian
  • kate5000kate5000 Member Posts: 1,271
I did 20% and was happy with it. Dark enough for privacy yet I could see out in the darkness pretty well. My friend did 5% limo tint on the rear window and tells me it's hard to see through it when it gets dark outside.
  • kate5000kate5000 Member Posts: 1,271
Just thinking that a couple days ago doctors did not think she'd make it, and then there was a brain damage scare... things are definitely looking up! I'm scared even to think of a possibility of my children getting seriously ill...

    Thanks Kate!

You're in the Bay area right? I'd like to go 20%, but I'm thinking I may go 35% just because of how much of the year is spent under the clouds around here (Seattle). My main concern is visibility at night and in the darkness of winter.

    More comments welcome!

    Thanks!
    -Ian
  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
    Ian-
I have 35% around, except front, and I find it fair keeping the sun out on a sunny day but better than without. Night visibility with street lights is alright, without or poor lighting is a challenge but that's me.

You should find a friend/work colleague with a similar design car with tints you're looking to get and see for yourself. Nothing like first eye visual.

    -Dave
  • goneskiiangoneskiian Member Posts: 381
Thanks Dave. I have a neighbor with a WRX Sedan and 20% tint. He let me sit in his car but it was a pretty sunny day. Of course it seemed fine then! ;-)

I should see if he'll let me drive it in the dark.

    -Ian
  • kenskens Member Posts: 5,869
Kate: I'm at 99350 or so. You're leading!

Ian: The difference between 35% and 20% from the inside at night is small. I've found no problems driving with 20% at night. In fact, many metallic films do a good job at cutting headlight glare so it's easier on the eyes. The only time the tint got in the way is reversing into a dark driveway. But you could always roll down the window and stick your head out or open the door ajar.

Got that test drive offer in the mail, the one I was talking about, for a $25 gift card just to try a 2005 Legacy or Outback.

But get this! If you *buy* one, you get three years free service, an $800 value. Hey, service costs that much around here.

Ken was the first to order one, and did so after our impressions were shared, so it's yours buddy. E-mail me your mailing addy. If you haven't taken delivery yet, it sure looks transferable. In fact I bet anyone can get in on this, it seems like a national program for SoA.

Patti - any details on this? Can anyone qualify or do you need the mailer?
