Does anyone else find it hilarious that Edmunds posts a Saab 9-2x Chat announcement on the Subaru Crew main page? Shall I wear an eye patch and get a parrot to sit on my shoulder when I sign on to that one?
  • subearusubearu Member Posts: 3,613
FWIW, Edmunds has that chat banner on the main forum homepage as well. http://www.edmunds.com/apps/townhall/welcome.jsp I wonder how busy that chat will be? I'll likely miss that one since we're at swim class for the lil' bears during that time.

I'm signed up to go to the Saab Drive event for the Chicago area on the 26th. I wonder if they'll notice me driving up in the F-XT. Doubt it.

    Just an FYI...

This chat could be huge. It's not every day that a manufacturer President & COO agrees to an open chat. Not only Town Hall members can ask questions, but guests also can participate. Could be VERY busy.

I'll miss the Saab chat but I hope someone will ask Ms. Kelly-Ennis how the company can use the phrase "Welcome to the state of independence" with a clear conscience.

I will be taking part in the 9-2x Drive event in Philadelphia June 29.

True Ed, but that's a carry-over campaign. We'll see how they pitch the 9-2x.

We haven't seen Croc Dundee in a new Legacy. ;-)

To all my fellow Dads out there, but especially to you, Pat... here's hoping your gift is your daughter's continued improvement, and take credit for a job well done in being there for her.

Keep us posted - we're hanging on your every update!

we're planning to go down and pick up the daughter and 2 grandsons to bring them back to visit with us for a couple of weeks and then fly them back one way from chicago to houston ....
I found a fare a few days ago on southwest that was one way for about $75 each and didn't require round trip travel, only we had to be sure she had transportation worked out when she got back to houston to get the 3 hours from the airport back home ... finally got confirmation today and of course NOW the fare has disappeared from sight .... UGH .. we didn't need it til aug 14 so I didn't think a few days would make THAT much difference!

I should know better even though I don't book that much air travel ...

costs only about $20 less for a one-way than it does for a round trip now ...

This is on top of other aggravations this weekend in trying to spend $$ to buy some things for the house ... we've decided it's a 'one size fits all' world and yes we have what you want but (even though it doesn't cost US anymore to make what you want) it will cost YOU double what is 'one size' ...

Brenda (waiting for the explanations about retoolings, etc)

to me this goes a little deeper than just 'not being able to easily get a design that i prefer' and carries over into auto design and many other aspects of life ...

we want to buy a door to replace our patio door .. the style we chose is built by a door company but exclusively marketed by one of the big home improvement chains (we've since found out through internet sleuthing) ... the chain has ONE style in the store for $499 with brochures showing the many styles that are available ... we want a slightly different style, but the price for that one turns out to be $850 ...

so someone who works in this store's marketing division (or some such) decided which door the public would most likely be interested in buying and has that door made and on hand in the stores ... people buying that door may not want that PARTICULAR door but due to pricing, convenience, time, etc may BUY that door ... whomever made the decision in the first place will look at what is being purchased and pat themselves on the back for being 'right' in making the decision to stock that door ....

we're too quick too often to jump into the 'one size fits all' and then use the 'data' to prove ourselves 'right' ...

Brenda (again figuring someone will 'set her straight' about this)

At 10 pm on Fri 06/18/04, the magic thing happened: Forester's odometer turned from 99999 to 100000. As of today, I'm at 100230 mi.

I can send digital pix of my odo "before" and "after" to anyone who's interested :-)

Brenda - that's why I prefer to drive!

And in my last 10 tank fulls, my worst mileage was 24.7 mpg! :-)

Had some grape leaves for Father's Day dinner and a really good weekend at the beach with the family. Weather cooperated for once.

Amazingly, so did traffic. We went on Thursday and came back Sunday night, very late. In fact we got home at 1am today. Kids snoozed in the back while daddy cruised along in record time (with the kids).

Cool Kate! Now when will Ken hit 100...

    Brenda-

I've run into that before as well. That's why I'm happy to say I learned about a local home improvement shop that provides the same things but in half the time, and at a better price. It is very frustrating to find something you like and then be told it will take 4-6 weeks, and cost more. I don't understand why one place tells me it will take 4-6 weeks, yet when I go to this small store front I can usually have the item within a week or less.

    Good Luck!

Kate! Congratulations! I'm still at a lowly 99500 so it'll be a week or two until I'm in the 6-digit club. Now you can officially go out and buy your FXT! :-)

My 2nd father's day was nice. Kana had an amazing professional album book made for me that contained a sampling of pictures with both Erina and myself from the time of her birth. I was floored and moved. I also got a very nice breakfast consisting of brioche French toast made with fresh orange zest from the orange tree in our backyard.

Being a dad is kind of cool! :-D

In Laws arrive this weekend to help get the house ready; we have some loose ends here that have to be tied up so that work can commence. I don't think Kirsten's going to be too keen on spending one of 4 remaining evenings away (I leave for Oregon Saturday morning)

Well there is good news and scary news. the good news is right now she is on the general floor, she was supposed to have there for at least a week.

Today they told us that because she is now medically stable she can be in an outpatient program, so tomorrow she is being released to our care, needless to say we are worried we think it is much too soon.

She is so weak she can hardly stand on her own, and she is so thin that if she stood sideways you would miss her,she needs a lot of physiotherapy in order to regain her strength, plus a lot of nutrition to gain weight she still weighs only 90LBS.

Unfortunately there are so many injured soldiers coming back from Iraq they have to get them in and get them out, plus they are shorthanded as half the personel have been deployed.

We are staying at the Fisherhouse right beside the hospital but have to leave here Friday as she is no longer an in patient, I will not have internet access after Friday, hopefully we will be back home on 15th July in order to pick up our own lives which have been put on hold until she is well.

Thanks for all the prayers and support and thank God for such a good outcome, I ask myself was it only a week and a half ago that things were so bad,

      Cheers Pat.

Pat - that is good news! You are also correct in feeling that she is being released too soon. [Rob's unsolicited advice on] I would inquire as to the availability of homecare services, such as a Visiting Nurse Association. They can assist with monitoring and therapy, develop a care plan, and teach you and your family how to support and care for your daughter. This could help to reduce or eliminate the scary feeling. [advice off]. Best wishes! I believe the worst is over. Rob M.

Managed care and spiraling costs are pushing patients out the door way too early. But in reality, hospitals are not a good place for rest and recuperation - that is best done in the care of family. But I couldn't agree more with Rob's comments. My S-in-L is a home health nurse, and they can do wonderful things for the patient and the family as well.

Very, very good news. Hopefully you have been getting some sleep so that you can take care of her. Unfortunately, I was disturbed to hear of the large number of injured soldiers coming back from Iraq. God bless them.

It may take a while, but she will be back and in good health before you know it.

    Bob
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Great news Pat. Dunno if you considered this, but in Brazil it's very common to hire a nurse to help out at home, short-term. (Rob beat me to it)

Let's look on the positive side - I'm sure she'll be glad to be out of the hospital and hopefully that'll aid in her recovery, work as a motivator to get better.

Ed: I owe you a beer. Got a Saab 9-2x brochure and on the back it still says "Welcome to the state of independence".
