After two years of lurking here and waiting, bought a 2005 Legacy GT Limited wagon today. Woo hoo! What a great car!

    David! Whoa! Way to go!!!

Sounds like the WRX wagon may have been a tad too small. Congrats!

Manual or auto? What color? What dealer?

Pat: just read your message. I'll be praying for you.

Sorry I missed the chat. Had to go a last minute road trip to the beach. A friend of mine was getting rid of a TV set and we needed one, bingo, free 25" TV. 6 hours round trip drive, but I went ahead and got a lot of other things done while I was at it.

Dave: congrats. I do recall telling you it was your destiny, given the number of Daves in the Crew. Actually, it's nice to re-balance that, because a few Daves haven't checked in for a while (Dave Chen, wdb, Dave Zartman).

Now if you tell me you got it in Atlantic Blue, I might have to buy its clone for me!

    Welcome Dave!

I've got one as well. Silver in the 5MT version. Just got done giving it it's first bath! ;-)

When you get a chance, please give us your impressions. I don't need to read them but I know the folks that don't have one will appreciate it! LOL!

    Cheers!

I finally got my Subie back from the body shop after the rear ender almost three weeks ago. I didn't realize how much I missed it.

Pat's ordeal puts it in perspective...it's only a car and it's replaceable.

Pat, I'm praying for you and your family. May you daughter have a smooth recovery.

For all the prayers and good wishs, as of now no real change she is in real bad shape, the big concern right now is the lungs, even on the repirator she is not moving enough air.

The next 48 hours are really crucial, please keep up the prayers, she needs all the help she can get.

JimmyP thank you for your incredibly kind offer, I will call if the need arises but the army and the local church are benbing over backwards to be of help.

      Thanks to all Pat.

The Crew is like an extended family. Even my wife understands that.

She was looking over my shoulder when I expressed concern, and now she is concerned as well. Both our prayers are with you.

My address at home is jim at pecivil dot com. If it stretches into next work week, use jpearson at ljaengineering dot com. I can get you phone numbers at that point.

    Hang in there.

Hello everyone...rita here with pat looking over my shoulder. Anne Marie seems to have turned a corner where the pancreatitis is concerned. That has stabled and the acidosis is receding. the bad news however is that her lungs are still not taking in enough oxygen on their own. This is critical so keep praying.

pat and i would like to thank you all for your much needed and appreciated support. At times like these we see the true fellowship of man and it gives us hope. Jimmy, Pat will send you off an email when he has a little more time.

    God bless you all

Just got back to Edmunds after quite a few days...first, our prayers are with your daughter and your family for a continued recovery. As part of your extended family, we know that everyone's prayers DO WORK...Susan is fully recovered, the chemo is out of her system, and she has hair...think Annie Lennox with salt and pepper...

    You are in our thoughts.

just going to crawl into bed, Rita is sleeping in Anne Marie's room as she did last night no way is she leaving her alone.

Anyway there is a little improvement in her lung funtion, last night at one point she was getting 100% oxygen which is very bad, today her lung funtion has improved to the point where they have the oxygen now reduced to 60%even the medical are a little more optimistic, although they caution she has still a long way to.

But she is going in the right direction up and not down, she started to have a fever today and that is causing a little bit of concern.

I cannot praise the dedication of the medical staff enough, especially the nurses, they have been absolutely super, they take the time to address our concerns, they answer all our questions as best they can and there have been many, some I am sure stupid to them.

Well I am off to bed I have had 4 hours sleep in the last 48 hours, Rita has had none hopefully she will be relaxed enough to sleep at the hospital tonight, I am only checking the MTM thread.

Again guys from both of us, thanks and keep the prayers going, you have no idea how connected we feel with the outpouring of concern from this group none of you that I have ever met in person.

      Pat.

    Pat,

You and Rita must be exhausted. I can't believe you manage to post in light of ths situation.

Please hang in there. I've been thinking about you guys all day and will continue to do so until you're in the clear. I'm sure the rest of the Crew feels the same way.

Hi all. first off, Pat, hope she continues to improve. So I am here in Colorado with Susan driving YWRX and adventuring to the max. Typing this on my Treo 600 is an adventure but it sure is easier to pack thn a laptop. We went to the top of Mt. Evans yesterday-14200 ft, the highest paved road in North America. Turbo test. Torque is still lacking at low rpm so I was using first gear in the switchbacks. Rpm up and you are ok- I-70 to Eisenhower tunnell at 11000 was great. Summit of Evans was 28 f with 30 mph winds and snow. Susan stuck her self up through the sunroof on the way down to fiilm with the camcorder. On the way down we went past an sti on the way up. At the Eisenhower we went in on the east side where it was snowing and came out on the west where it was hailing. There is a long 6 percent grade there and I found that I was so fixated on the nasty weather/road condition that I had not noticed that I was going 60 in second gear at 6500 rpm. Crazy. It was a fun day.
    More later from Utah.

You guys need to get some rest. There's only so much you can do—get some sleep.

  • hammerheadhammerhead Member Posts: 907
I second (third?) Bob & Brenda... you guys try to take care of yourselves too... your daughter will need strong & healthy parents to help her through this.

Hopin & praying for her continued improvement.
    Paul
  • I'll be driving that route in a week, but in reverse. I'll be taking the I-70 route between my home in Utah and my new home in Denver. Just took a job in Denver and will spend the weekends commuting home to Utah while my wife sells the house. Most trips will be via plane, but I need to get my vehicle out there for the daily work commute.
  • dsattlerdsattler Member Posts: 135
Pat and Rita, we are thinking and praying for yuoui in our house. A sick child is the worst thing in the world.

New Subie is a manual, regal blue, the only manual GT Limited wagon in the Baltimore area. Wanted Atlantic Blue, but none around and none shown on the computer as being on the way.

Impressions: at 2,000 rpm in fifth gear with four people and a weekend's worth of camping gear in the back, no downshiftibng necessary. Engine pulls like crazy, no noticeable turbo lag. Interior quality is very high. Space where nav screen would go has warning label not to put plastic stuff in it, because it gets too hot. Odd. And, of course, about the only thing I could think of to put in there would be my sunglasses.

Sunroof is great, shifter is rubbery, I'm definitely going to get the short throw shifter. Stereo is adequate, no more. Leather is very comfortable, not hard and slippery like the leather in our Toyota Sienna. No complaints from rear seat passengers (children).

Drove it back to back with a 2005 WRX, and the engines felt completely different. Legacy much smoother and more even in power, but step on the gas pedal even half way and the revs (and speed) climb fast. Very nice engine growl.

we are all with you. Prayers from all across the country are zeroing in on your daughter and I know she will pull through. I'm sure having such a great medical staff is going on long way for her, but also to reassure you both.

My daughter and I stood on the jetty yesterday and watched the horizon - focusing our energy and prayers to you both and your daughter. Rest, eat and give each other a hug once in awhile. She's going to need you both heathly when she's out of bed and ready to go home!

Love to you all - Patti (and Lauren who's posting with me)

Something you said really struck a cord - how wonderful this group is, despite having barely met a fraction of them. A few here in NY, and some in the San Francisco Bay area. Yet it is a cohesive, powerful force. Pretty neat stuff in what otherwise can be a very impersonal world.

Good to hear that your baby is doing a bit better. She will always be your baby, no matter how old she is.... Now get some rest, food, etc. so that you stay on your feet.

Bring us more good news tomorrow - that's an order!!!

Well she is showing some improvement again today, so much so that one of thedoctors who came on today was surprised that they have been able to reduce the oxygen content to where it is.

When the doctor left yesterday the percentage was 70% going in she still was not oxygenating her blood, today she came and the percentage is down to 40% her sateration is in the mid nineties which is good, and she now oxygenating her blood some.

This doctor confessed that as late as yesterday they did not think she was going to make it, now they are more optimistic, the doctor told us that she is the sickest patient they have seen in over a year.

But now they tell that they are worried about brain damage from the high acid content, I cannot accept that God will allow her to recover only to be brain damaged, so we ask keep those prayers and positive thoughts coming they being heard.

      Cheers Pat.

Great news that the doctor feels she is improving.

We'll keep sending positive thoughts to put her on a path to a full and complete recovery.

    Take care of yourselves.

Pat: glad she's improving, slowly but hopefully steadily. Thanks for updating us.

You got me back in church for the first time in a few weeks! Early service!

Dave: you lucky duck, you have the exact car I'd order, down to the color and tranny. I'll never forgive you. ;-)

I've gotta update my mileage chart. I did a last minute run to the beach condo last week and just filled up and the mileage was excellent. I'm going yet again on Thursday, this time with the family, but I now have Wi-Fi hooked up so I won't miss the chat!

Glad to hear there is some improvement! I know it's difficult, but you and Rita need to try and get some rest when possible. Your daughter is going to need two healthy parents to help her through her recovery. I speak from experience...my daughter was gravely ill a few years ago and her prognosis was not good. She made it and today you wouldn't know she ever had a problem. More prayers and positive thoughts coming your way.
