sorry to hear about your cat

Make sure you talk to your vet about managing the pain, at some point it might be more humane to put her to sleep. I know it's tough, because I had to go through that myself.
Our dog Ashley had a severe stroke and was paralized on the entire left side of her body. I didn't mind hand feeding her and carrying her outside to go to the bathroom, but when she stopped eating, I had to make a tough decision.
It was very sad, but at the same time it was the humane thing to do. The process itself was painless and almost instantaneous, I'm sure she felt no pain, and went away peacefully.
I cried like a baby at the time, but I still have no regrets. We adopted her and she lived a happy, full life.
I'm sure you'll have happy memories. I know I do.

My family is also bracing for the same inevitable fate of our Lab. She is 13, blind, mostly deaf, needs help on the stairs, and sleeps 90% of the day. However, she eagerly looks for her meals and still manages to find us to get a dose of affection. Yeah...when the time comes, it's going to be very difficult.
Sorry to hear about Neko-chan. It is really a hard thing to face. The kidneys are bad. Our pets truly are our families.
We had to put our oldest cat to sleep back in May, and still miss her. Since we never had children, she was our oldest.
When the time is right, I'm sure you will do the right thing. Just hang in there.

Neko-chan was our first pet together and brought us so many fond memories. In some ways, she was our first daughter. It's so hard saying goodbye. :-(
My wife and I have made an appointment with her vet for tomorrow. The vet promised to make one last through assessment of Neko-chan's condition, more to help us feel like we're making the right decision.
What was that nice poem about pets passing away that went around last time? I think I'm going to need it.
Thanks again for the moral support. What would I do without you guys!
Ken
However, I suggest you wait till you get home to view it. You'll want some privacy, trust me.

Sometimes the kindest thing to do is let them go.

Anyway we learned a lesson we bought an external hard drive and now everything is backed up.
Turned out the problem was caused by a corrupted download of Norton anti virus. That was about the only thing saved on a disc. We got the computer cleaned up and running and started to load programmes, right after we loaded the Norton anti virus the S.O.B. crashed again.
Well in went a new hard drive and we started all over again, when Rita was downloading Norton origionally, during the download Norton started having server problems.
We had several problems before it crashed all related to Norton, so if we had been on the ball we would have dumped the Norton programme before it actually crashed, but as they say hindsight is always 20/20.
I don't know if we have any recourse with Norton but the Technician we employed to fix the thing said we should at least try.
Cheers Pat.
I'm knocking on wood right now, as my PowerBook has been up 71 days since the last reboot, without a hiccup. With my luck, I'll drop it or something!! Almost spilled a beer on it last night.
Craig
very sorry to hear about your computer troubles. hopefully you are in the clear now!
are you sure the norton AV was truly 'corrupt'? the reason that I ask is that if you load more than one antivirus program at a time, it can cause system issues. it's been a number of years ago, but one of my relatives took their system down by attempting to install McAfee AV after something else (I think it might've been Norton!) was already loaded. btw is that old software? at least in the States, the "Norton" stuff was rebranded to "Symantec" years ago.
~Colin
Never heard it put quite that way! LOL
Don't worry about programs, since you'd have to re-load those anyway, but your documents & data should always be backed up.
An external hard drive is actually not ideal. What you might want is a CD burner and some blank CD-Rs. Why?
Because once written, they are copy-protected. Plus you want to have weekly (or at least monthly) backups to refer back to.
Here's an example. Let's say you have a critical document, and it goes corrupt. If you backed up last week, but it went corrupt 2 weeks ago, the backup is useless! You only have 2 copies of a corrupt file.
You want to make and keep regular backups, so you can go back a month, 3 months, even a year, to the time before the file became corrupt.
In addition, you may want a Fire Safe to store those CDs in, to keep them safe. Or store them off-site, like in a vacation home or at work or something.
Your wife has a key to the Titan, right? And Subaru could cut a key with your VIN. That's two backups, one of them off-site. People lose keys all the time.

we only have Symantic loaded. And yep it was a new prgramme that Rita downloaded 2 weeks ago.
Anyway we went and got the programme from the store and loaded that. We are up and running and the problem has been taken care of, don't want to go through again.
Cheers Pat.
Cheers Pat.
Maybe you should consider a Mac- much less susceptible to viruses and worms and my Powerbook has been way more stable than any of my PCs.

Coincidence that we should have such a freak weather event within two months of my Forester purchase? I think not - I'm looking at it as an early Christmas present. I can't wait to go out and play (safely, of course). :shades:
The year we bought the Legacy we had 6 snow storms, so our timing was ideal.
More snow is forecast for Friday.

This is the first year I have a snowblower (finally picked up my parents this past Sat after servicing); then Monday night raced to get gas for it; and even dug out the manual so I can know how to work the darn thing. All this, and not even enough snow to use a broom, much less a snow blower

isn't having a Subaru a WONDERFUL thing when it's these kids of weather conditions????
kids are always like nor'easters. i plan on getting away from mine by clearing my 330' of driveway of these 8 or snow inches in a few hours ( when it stops ).
hmmm maybe i should do a quick subie 4 wheel drift run first :P
anyone got a plow on their '04 fxt?
Initial thoughts:
Very nice. The black leather interior really moves this car up a notch in terms of image and quality—and this is coming from someone who's never been a fan of leather! This year the WRX Limited—with certain exterior colors—you can get two interior colors. Black is one of those colors, and it is also available with the light tan interior. I think the black looks much classier.
Even with the 4K rpm break-in limit, I've not felt a real need to go beyond that, thanks to the much wider powerband of the new 2.5 engine. Note: I said "need," not "desire."
I guess time will tell if I will really miss the size of a larger car. Some of the reasons I went with the WRX is that I wanted a turbo, 5-speed manual wagon, that handles like it were on rails. As it stands, this the only Subie that fits that description on all counts.
I thought long and hard about the Legacy, even the sedan, but in the end the WRX won out. Some of the reasons I discounted the Legacy: No manual turbo wagon. I'm not fond of some of the ergonomics of the Legacy (window switches hard to use because of door grab handle). Would have to purchase some items I don't need (power seats). Plus, it's just more expensive.
The WRX (and my son Dave's new Outback Sport too) seems to be a bit more noisier than I would like. I'm sure the Legacy would mask some of that road noise better than any Impreza. Oh well, I guess you can't have everything...

Did you forget the Forester XT? :P

I have not driven the 2.5L WRX yet but I know the engine well from the FXT and Legacy GT. You'll love it. Sounds like you might've chosen the WRX wagon over a LGT wagon even if it was available with a 5 speed-- but either way, you've made a good choice.
~Colin
As to the F-XT, no I didn't forget it. It doesn't handle as well as the WRX, doesn't have the sharp looking 17" wheels, is a bit more expensive, and I prefer the Impreza's looks.
Yeah, Xmas came early to our house.
Bob
Limitations? Oh, heck—just go for it...

That tour of Baltimore a few years ago would have been even more fun had it been in a WRX. I'll have to make another trip out to the inner harbor someday and arrange for a another tour.
The OCD detailer in me hopes that you treat your new black ride to a good dose of sealant to keep it protected during the winter months.
Welcome to the dark side. :-)

05 LGT LTD in Atlantic Blue with charcoal interior and subwoofer.
Getting to try it out in the snow for the first time today. Predictions are for 7-10+ where I live. Not our first snow here, but I have been such a wuss and using the Outback. Rob M.

That's OK, I just drove Sandy in to work, with about 3" of slushy snow on the ground. Took the back roads, had quite a bit of fun. Felt like a kid again.
Congrats, Bob. Welcome to the OCD club, given you chose black paint!
swampy: Bob had to get the moonroof so that his helmet could stick up out of it. That's why he chose the Limited. LOL

IT'S SOON COMING UP TO RALLY LATKES TIME!
Michael and I will miss it this this year being up north, so I'll have to make them when I return...
I'll be doing interviews with some principals in NJ as the first step to moving back to civilization.
Even though I would personally love the V6 outback, my legacy gets me to and from just fine. I will get me a outback in the next year or two.
Its so tough to trade cars (especially Subaru's) that don't give you any problems!
