    Re: what's up with Edmunds?

I'd ask one of the techs to come by and explain it, but I value my life. :surprise: Basically, we were doing a major upgrade last Thursday. They had tested it extensively and seemed like it was going to be swell. Unfortunately, it wasn't. So, they rolled back to where we were before. Then very early Saturday morning the main server decided to have a hissy. Our techs haven't had much sleep since.

did anybody else watch the United Flight 93 movie on A&E last night? I slept like crap last night. I think I 'lived' it multiple times over. Now that day puts life into perspective.

Yes I also watched it and found it very moving. Having worked for 9 months at the WTC during the recovery and clean up, it did bring back memories, especially watching the towers fall. I also watched some of the programming before the movie. The show about the Head of Security at Morgan Stanley was also very good. It shows that everybody should take fire and emergency drills seriously. They can and do save lives!!!

Sorry to hear about your friend Brenda, yeah sometimes we all get wake calls like that.

    Cheers Pat.

    Steve,

I could not find it in myself to watch the movie. Hopefully it was tastefully done. I realize there are stories to be told out there, but 4+ years later it still is too much to watch.

    Steve,

No, I can't take that kind of credit. My surgery was outpatient and I was logged in from home. ;-)

But thank goodness for wireless and laptops. I would have been bored out of my mind had I not been able to surf!

C'mon Ken! Cycling is fun! ;)

Hope you recover soon and are out pounding the pavement again soon. :shades:

Brenda - Definitely some news to make you sit up and take notice.

Karen - Hope your sis-in-law's sis gets that miracle and is around for a long time.

Wow, coming here and hearing news like this gives me some real perspective. Good health and life can be so fleeting.

    Be well all!

Rumors are lingering the H6t they'll be introducing may be in the Tribeca and the rumored larger sedan... let's see.
  • subearusubearu Member Posts: 3,613
hence my still hoping that the revised Tribeca at the Chicago show has this special surprise under the hood :shades:

I just can't see the reveal of the revised Tribeca as the main highlight of the Subaru stand at the Chicago show, they need something to draw attention to it.

I won't hold my breath, after the NAIAS let down. Don't want to get my hopes up, but they do have some sort of announcement on Feb. 9 in Chicago.

Speaking of movies, Geisha was an excellent one, finally got to go see that. It was a topic of discussion way back when, when WDB was doing his cross-country drive in his then-new GT. Now I want to read that book.

Yikes! Brain surgery? I know it's pretty common but it just sounds so daunting.

Pass along my best wishes too Brenda.

    Cheers!

Anyone else up for going on Saturday?

I may bring the whole family, plus Bob wants to go, so that's 5 people so far.

Anyone else? I may be able to get some goodies. :)

Oooh, late on this one. Best wishes for a good outcome. If it's benign she should do well. It all really depends on the location of the tumor and who's performing the surgery. They have all sorts of computer aids and simulators to help surgeons with intricate surgery these days, it's pretty neat.

    Hopefully she'll recover quickly! :D

there was a report in our local paper that Toyota was looking at producing the Camry at the SIA plant now they are part owners of FHI as production is maxed out at their other US plants. Anyone heard anymore?
  • fibber2fibber2 Member Posts: 3,786
Meet the new Camry: flat 6 with symmetrical AWD!

Missed all you guys in chat last night. Actually, it was like nobody was there.

Mod Bob did walk me through some of the setup things in Carspace. It's pretty neat. I like it! Can't wait to see some pictures. Rob M.
  • Karen_SKaren_S Member Posts: 5,092
CarSpace is the place to create your own personal page. You can upload your own photos, add links to your favorite web sites, and include as much personal info as you care to. You can invite family, friends, whoever to view your page and join also.

We'll be starting a discussion in N&V for folks to ask questions and post comments.
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788

Think of it as a free place to keep your car pics, all linked to Edmunds.

If they added a "My Tracked Items" link, it might even make a good home page for all things Edmunds.

We ended up getting about a foot of snow, so I was pretty happy! :)

Took the kids out sledding yesterday, made a gigantic snow man, all that good stuff. Roads weren't treated until about 24 hours after it started, so I got to have a bit of fun for the first time in a while with the AWD.

Took a funny pic of my Miata, this is what RWD looks like at times like this.

I get to spend it with my 115 students of my own 6th grade World History classes(teacher went on maternity leave; most likely won't be back next year). On to the Renaissance (or, as I prefer to call it, Rinascimento in Italian). Did you ever wonder why they use the French word instead of Italian, where it actually began? I do....
    P.S. got candy!
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I co-op at my son's school, and did today, where they had a party. 15 3-year-olds to goof around with.

Then got a break in the middle of the day, only to go to my daughter's party. Had about 18 of them hitting me with balloons at one point, it was hilarious (and only slightly painful).

At least some of them shared their candy. :D

I need a day off from my day off!

The DH claims that VD is a 'made up' holiday and as such we should not support it commercially ...

However, he IS good at bringing me flowers and presents for "real" occasions and sometimes in between .. lol

he also teases me that he buys me sparkly baubles but I never buy him 'bling' ... so I went to the pawn shop and bought him a diamond pinky ring for VD ...

    he liked it ..

even if it is a 'made up' holiday ...

I'm at work... must be a heart-related day, because we responded on two possible MI's this morning! Yikes! Not enough chocolate??

    Cheers!

  • tsytsy Member Posts: 1,551
    Hey Paul

Did you guys get any snow? We got some overnight here (nothing like the East Coast though!) People always seems to get MIs when it snows. You guys need more coffee! ;)

    tom
  • hammerheadhammerhead Member Posts: 907
We got an inch or two here in the valley - only about 4 inches in them thar hills - nice & light, not nearly heavy enough to cause snow shovel MI's. The cold snap is coming, according to the so-called experts.

Speaking of coffee, it's 0510 here, I've been up for an hour. Reports waiting on the computer, NPR on the office radio, and a cuppa joe right next to me!

    Cheers!

    G'day

You could some down under. I think 26" in New York is just plain greedy. even washington got a foot for Juice to play around in. That's surely just to advertisee Subaru All Wheel Drive's outstanding benefits.

    Cheers

  • bat1161bat1161 Member Posts: 1,784
    Graham-

Funny you should talk about advertising the benefits of Subaru's AWD. Subaru has been running a commercial on the radio here in the NYC that sounds like a regular news report of a snow storm hitting the area, but with a Subaru you won't notice. Good commercial though. First time I heard it, without hearing the disclaimer that this is a commerical, I thought we were finally getting snow!
Instead we get one huge storm. Oh well.

I have to say with the 28" we were hit with, even in a Suabru you'll notice :).

But you can tell that Spring is in the air, Mark. Notice how fast the snow is compressing, even on the grass? Despite the cold temps, the sunlight was so strong on Monday that my driveway de-iced within hours. And what, 50'F on tap for this afternoon?

Frankly, I think I am partly to blame. After a period of warmer temps, I did a little tuneup on my bike, and went out at lunchtime on Friday and bought a new pair of biking shorts. That is why we got hit on Saturday/Sunday.
