Cheers Pat.
I happened to glance down there and saw "subefriek" so I am pretty sure it is Pat's birthday. congrats!
Hope you have some nice spring weather to enjoy it and good times with your family.

Does it look like paintless dent removal could take care of it?

Insurance is trying to find the owner of the truck, I guess. They said it would take about 5 days to get back to us.

He and his wife just got a new Outback SE. She gets to test everything in their fleet, Bimmers, Saabs, Audis, but what stood out was an Outback she drove five years ago. Her mind was made up.
He seems really cool so I'll see if he'll be in NY on 4/17 so he can perhaps meet up with us at the Auto Show, if not that then maybe at another event later.

* R2 for US plans announced?
Maybe, maybe, the 07 spec.B.
Anyone else heard anything?

Oh, please, please, pretty please with AWD on top? *sigh*
Hey, you should volunteer to be one of the test drivers -- or at least the person that sits in the car and plays with all the controls when they're reviewing the features.

Cheers Pat.

I hope they're still happy for you- I try not to count my birthdays anymore- they seem to be coming faster and faster each year!

I am figuring on having 35 to 40 more "49th" birthday celebrations... Never turning 50.

And there I was wondering what had gone wrong. I thought I had screwed the time up again. It's hard to get it right when we mover from Daylight Saving which was delayed this year as the Commonwealth Games were held here in Melbourne just when the change over should have occurred
Oh, well. another week!

Due to some problems with the acceptance tests, I'll probably be back mid Summer, so maybe we can do it again.
Other than getting roasted in my hotel room last night, it was an uneventful BD. Just imagine waking up at 3am soaked in sweat, and assuming that you are running a high fever. Turned out that the newly installed digital thermostats were flawed, and had sent the temp in the room to over 90'F!!!

NY Times sent a photographer to my house this morning. Took pics of me loading the kids into the Forester. I took them both to school.
The article will be about (what else?) gas prices and the things we do to try to conserve. Should be in Saturday's NY Times, so look for it. :shades:

It was great seeing you out here again. I'm glad you enjoyed the Persian food -- I kind of felt guilty being treated to dinner by the birthday person! Next time, dinner's on me.
Hope you had a good flight back home. You just missed more of the lousy weather again. It started to rain this afternoon.
Oh well, so much for my freshly washed car!

Eminently quotable, as always! :shades:

I didn't see any picture of him there, though. Did I miss something?

The picture didn't come out so good, it's an interior shot of my driving Sandy, with my son in the background. They didn't get my daughter in the pic, either. Only a pro can tell what vehicle I'm driving, and while I'm wearing my Subaru LL Bean jacket, you can't see the Subaru logo.

Anyway, you gave an excellent soundbite -- certainly better than anything else quoted out of Washington in today's Times!
We got out of San Jose late, so we missed our connection in Chicago. Chicago was still a mess from weather problems the day before, and made worse by the band of bad weather in the South that afternoon. Fortunately, we were able to get rebooked on a later flight, but didn't reach home until the early hours of the morning.

For those not familiar with western Maryland, it is a gorgeous area, and very mountainous. Unlike the rest of Maryland, the western part of the state has some pretty severe winters—meaning cold with a lot of snow!
On the way out I stopped in Cumberland, and visited the local Subie dealer there (it's the only Subie dealer in western Maryland). Now I can say that I've visited every Subie dealer in the state of Maryland! That should be worth some sort of award, I would think.
It was interesting talking to the salesman there, as they sell to a somewhat different audience than found near Baltimore and Washington. Cumberland, and a good deal of western Maryland, is a rather depressed area, so I was curious as to how Subaru—going premium—was going over in that neck of the woods. The salesman said they sell a lot of Foresters. That's their big seller, and it was clear talking to him that most of their customers are "practical" with their car purchases. They sell few WRXs, and very few STIs. They didn't even get any spec.Bs to sell! Tribecas are also slow sellers. I think he said they only sold 1 Outback VDC last year! The good thing is because it's so mountainous, and the winters are so rough, Subies "do" sell out there, at least the cheaper and more practical ones.
Deep Creek Lake is a good hour further west past Cumberland, and while out there I saw at least 4 or 5 Bajas, as well as a bunch of other Subies (mainly Foresters, as per the salesman).
Interestingly, while traveling scenic I-68 (well north of the posted speed limit) I got passed by a new Toyota FJ Cruiser!
If you ever get a chance to visit western Maryland—do it! It's a real outdoors wonderland, and very rugged. Besides Deep Creek Lake, there is the Savage River, which is famous for white water rafting, and as the name indicates, not for the faint of heart. My WRX was made for the roads out there.

We took our own road trip - first to Leesburg, then over to Point of Rocks, MD, and then down along the Potomac River back home. Very scenic.
We went on Saturday, though, when we had rain all day long.

Well if you want to promote tyres, the first thing you are going to think of is a film with Naomi Campbell and John Malkovich, a TVR and waht I think is a Maybach, isn't it? The latest in viral marketing and pretty good.

Not sure what the coupe is, but the sedan is not a Maybach. Perhaps a Lancia, since this was shot in Italy?
Bob
The sedan is a Lancia Thesis. If interested:

tom
The coupe is definitely a TVR, but not sure what model. I think it might be a Sagaris. 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds.
The sedan being a Lancia Thesis is more likely. We don't see Lancia's down under these days. Fairly fragile under Australian conditions. Beautiful to look at but not too practical in a toughish environment.
I am never sure whther these sort of advertisements do anything except build the brand image. Photography is fabulous though.
cheers

* Queen bed to Ocean City (150 miles)
* 2 twin beds back home
* load with 1 yard of pea gravel
* 2 loads with 2 yards of wood chips in each
Boy, the pea gravel was HEEEEAVY! Easily heavier than even the 3 yards of wet wood chips that I hauled last time.
I'm not sure I'd haul rocks again, I think I'd have those delivered. Must've been right up near my towing limits, but I had to slip the clutch a bit.
Got better than 20 mpg doing all that, too!
