It's so nice to see so much support and sympathy on this board. I participate in several boards (all others are non-car related), and this one is by far the best one in terms of quality of people involved here.
That's just awful news. I wish I had something comforting to say...I'm at a loss for words.
You and your family are in our thoughts.
Ken
May God bless and hold you all in his care.
Thanks many many times
Pat. and Rita.
As her mom I have known all Anne Marie's life that we wouldn't have her with us for a long time. I always knew there would be a crisis in her life in her 30's and that she wouldn't be with us to reach her 40's. If I could paint a picture of her for you all it would be colourful and passionate with a sense of intense freedom and tinged with big blotches of softness.
My poor darling Pat is just as devasted as a "Daddy" can be....that was all she ever called him. Thank you all for the wonderful support and comfort you have provided us in this forum. You truly are a special group of people.
We can't go around this terrible tragedy we have to go through it to get to the other side of it and with God's help and the help of Earthly Angels like you people when we do we know we will be at peace because Anne Marie is at peace.
God bless you all and we will keep you in our prayers.
Rita
in your grief to reach back and offer prayers for all of us is unbelievable ...
Brenda (humbled to be considered an Earthly Angel)
I've only just now found out about your loss. I can't imagine what you are going through, and I feel terrible for both of you. Especially as I sit here and watch Elie, now 19 months old, toddle around. Please know that Kirsten and I are thinking of you. One thing I do know- the strength, wisdom and mutual love you have demonstrated to all of us so many times will prevail. Take care of each other.
Love,
Lucien
Pat. and Rita.

I have been here for 5 years already...much has happened to all of us, both good and bad. I have only met one of you in person, and yet I feel I know most of you well. I hope to meet many more of you in the near future.

Bob
I am so sorry to hear about Anne Marie's passing. I know she had a tough fight, I will keep you and her in my thoughts.
-Mike
I consider myself fortunate enough to have met several folks here in person.
Is it OK to be funny again?
Why start now?
In person, I've met Patti, Bob, Dave, Mike, Dave, mike (paisan), Dave, Frank, WDB (D for Dave), Lucien, Dave, Hutch, Dave, Ken, Mod_Bob, Dave, Dennis, Mark, Ed, who else did I forget? I'm sure another 3 or 4 Daves.
I have not yet had the privilege to see Pat in person, nor Colin, Kate, and Brenda, and I consider them close friends. Can't forget the Steves and Serges. Also folks like Papa Bear, Brian, lots of Crew have e-mailed me off line, especially at times like this.
So yes, it's a virtual family of sorts, one I'm quite proud of.

But you'll have to knock on the downstairs patio door - I tore the rotten porch off the front of the house yesterday and there's a three foot "step" into the living room ....
Steve, Host
Are we chatting tonight?
Cheers!

I remember when there was no Subaru Crew and it was juice and I defending the Forester!
I've met a fair share of Crew members in person too. It's always a cool feeling when you finally get to put a face to a name.
Ken
I'm much better looking online. :shades:
I think the registrations were switched over 5 years ago, so many of the long-standing members' profiles default to April, 2001.
Steve, Host
Like me - I have a great face for radio!
Guess I didn't miss chat after all (Lexus - who needs 'em!)
Happy Cinco de Mayo all...
Cheers!

Anyhow, although the main effort day for this nationwide mass rebuilding project was last weekend, our Temple took on an inner city poverty level single family home. We are going to decend on it hammers swinging this weekend. Like a total fool, I am the House Captain, so all of the planning, work with some professional trades (need a licensed electrician, etc.), most of the materials ordering & pickup, skills matching & assignments, publicity, money handling, etc., has been on my shoulders. So we succeed in making this families life better or crash and burn based on how well I have done the job! No pressure here............
Most of us, thank God, have never known poverty. You need to spend some time in such an environment to really appreciate what you go home to every night and take for granted. For instance, we are going to restore (if all goes well) a basic like running water & drains and install a bathroom sink! Imagine life without one!
Wish us luck,
Steve
I guess I really didn't miss the chat then, either. Isn't today your birthday, Hammer? Rob M.
When I was a kid, the roads around my apartment were not paved, except for the one in front. Sides and back were dirt trails. AWD would have been handy, but you'd also need the clearance of an Outback or Forester so no WRXs.

I think we will be pretty soiled as well when we are done!!!
J/K, Yes, we are spoiled.

Sounds like a great cause and a fun-yet-hard undertaking. Good luck!
Ken
Sounds like a worth while endeavor. Good Luck with it! My niece is doing something similar through her school at the end of the month. They are all going down to Biloxi, Miss. to help rebuild homes.
As for myself, Helen and I are off to the Berkshires for a few days of R&R.
Everyone have a fun, safe weekend.
Mark
How do you pronounce "Gyro" anyway?
-juice
I've always pronounced it year-o, fwiw. I'm probably wrong.
-Brian
But as with most other foreign words, the butchered American pronounciation will most likely yield you a tasty sandwich. :-)
Ken
(cringes when people pronounce Sake, "saki", or Karaoke "karioki", or Karate "Karati")
Ironically Anne Marie called her Mom last week when she was beside herself with worry about Chris her husband.
Anne Marie said Mom I don't want a flag I just want to be Chris's wife. Well guess what, we are the ones getting the flag as Chris is giving the flag for Anne Marie to us.
We are almost there Anne Marie's ashes arrive tomorrow evening with Chris, our church service is 11am Monday, with the burial 11 am Tuesday.
I think I told you already that as a last tribute to my Annie I built her funeral urn.I have one last thing to do for her I am going to sing the hymns at her mass, so I will ask you guys to pray once again that I will be able to do this last thing for Annie.
I don't want this to come across as maudlin, Anne Marie and Chris were married at a very simple ceremony, but she always wanted a church wedding with all the pomp, it was all arranged for May of next year and I was to sing at her wedding. Rita's last act and tribute to Annie was all the arranging for the service and Burial and spreading the word about who Annie was. Rita was unable to do this for her wedding and so put her whole heart and soul into this. I am gonna try post a picture of Annie taken before she was ravaged by sickness.
Cheers Pat.
Bob
Unfortunately that was not meant to be,but thank God in the little time they had together she had finally found a soulmate.
Chris will be arriving tonight with Anne Marie's ashes, the service is Monday at 11am, with the burial Tuesday at 11am.
Cheers Pat.
Ken
Anne Marie is a lovely girl, and I know that your family has lost a "treasure". I cannot imagine trying to sing at a funeral for one of my children, and will pray that you can do this for your daughter, Pat.
Because of some idiocy with my job, I have felt my life wasn't going so well lately ... perspectives change in a hurry .. and I feel so blessed ..
With love for Anne Marie and the strong family who loves her ..
Brenda
Thanks for putting a picture up so that we could better connect a face with all that you have told us about her. I will be thinking about all of you tomorrow as we work.
Steve
Thank you all once again. Christopher arrived very late last night safely.
God bless you all,
Pat and Rita

I could not find Anne Marie's name either

Our thoughts are with you in this trying time.
Look up "McCartney" in search by last name.

(Grace says one's coming as soon as she can devote the time it deserves!)
Didn't make a big deal of it here - I thought it more important to support & mourn with Pat & Rita rather than celebrate with me...
FWIW, I don't feel any older :P
Cheers, from the now far side of fifty!
