I'd like to second that sentiment. Unless you can make your purchase contingent on completing an inspection from a qualified mechanic.

Let us know how it works out.

I should ask him if it's his! LOL

The wagon is really nice though and he is pleased with it...great for his gigs.
"Subaru of America,
Inc. today reported April sales of 16,771 total units -- a record for the month
of April. Retail sales were up 22% over the same month in 2007, driven by strong
consumer demand.
Model 2008 April % v 2007
Total Legacy 1,890 +32%
Total Outback 4,137 +1%
(incl. Legacy Wagon)
Total Impreza 4,010 +16%
Total Forester 5,339 +49%
Total Tribeca 1,395 +29%
Total 16,771"
Between all the commercials and the reviews that are out there, I guess it is paying off.
Mark
That's impressive.
Forester up 49%, and the new one was not even available all month.
No wonder I can't find a color and options I want.
New too! Well, not exactly.

Catches are:
1. It's been sitting @ dealer's lot for over a year.
2. There's 5 Carfax history. I don't subscribe, so I don't know what they are.
3. What are those 192 miles?
4. It's sitting @ dealer in Colorado
Should I pursue or it'll be a costly effort?

If you don't have her address e-mail me, and I'll get in touch with her for you.
If you're seriously interested, $25 to get the Carfax report isn't all that much
-Frank
The wife just factory-ordered a 2009 Subaru Forester Limited, 175hp PZEV model, in Newport Blue Pearl with the Platinum leather interior. :shades:
We also ordered the cargo liner/tray, cargo cover, mud flaps, and rear bumper cover. Maybe a couple of other minor items, she choose them so I don't even remember.
We got the VIP price, which is 2% under invoice, so with freight and all the accessories it came out to $25.2k.
We have $1600 Subaru Bucks so that drops to $23.6k plus tax.
6-8 weeks wait, but the cool thing is that if incentives appear by the time it arrives, we get those too. So basically we will pay $23.6k or less.
We can't wait. The wife is afraid I'm going to borrow it from her all the time. That fear is justified.
Are you trading the Legacy wagon, or selling it outright?
Bob
With the PZEV model, doesn't that give some sort of tax break, or am I thinking of something else?
Mark
It's about time...that fence was getting might creaky and we were all running out of nails! (plus all that beer weakened it further...) Congrats and enjoy it.
Serge
I'm sure I can get a whole lot more for it. It's still under the Subaru Gold warranty for another year and 39k miles. A lot of folks here at work have kids that go to college in Canada so this car is perfect for someone like that. I'm sure it will sell easily. The Forester sold in just a couple of days to the first person that test drove it.
Credit for PZEV? In MD? I don't think so, but if anyone is aware of this, please share.
Yes, indeed, The Fence got a short 2nd life when we decided to go with the minivan, but it got mightly slippery as soon as I saw the 09 Forester.
-mike
PS: Congrats!
I don't want to turn this in to a For Sale thread so if anyone is interested please e-mail me off line.
Oh c'mon Juice everyone wants your cars
-mike
Some would not notice, but I would.
Yeah, dibs on the Miata. You deliver, right? :shades:
I would have done it myself but I'm just too busy at work nowadays. Plus I'll have a receipt for the timing belt, every buyer wants that.
Too bad none of that stuff adds to the value of the vehicle (although it may help it sell faster).
For some reason, a few of the guys razzed me in the Subaru Crew chat last night for going 124,000 miles on the original spark plugs. Can't imagine why. :shades:
-mike
On a related note, my mom's RAV4 was up on the lease, so she looked around and ended up in an '09 Forester X in dark grey metallic. She never really cared for the Forester I had (thought it was small), but likes the new one very much.
-Brian
Is the 2% under a recent change?
My last 2 VIP purchases (2/96 & 8/02) have been at invoice. My brother did a VIP purchase 8/04 and I'm pretty sure it was also at invoice. BTW, these were all through IMBA.
P.S. Congrats on the new Forester!
on the interview front ... so far it appears the jobs open have been given to others - HOWEVER it's early in the transfer process and lots have more experience than I do .. these were all internal postings so there should be MORE postings from the transfers already done .. we've also had a retirement buy-out that over 20 teachers have taken advantage of, and those jobs have not yet begun to be posted ... so I'm still hopeful for a change before the next school year ...
on the "professional education" front ... I spend the first weekend in April at an advanced language class on Saturday and Sunday in Springfield IL and then went to Columbus OH the last weekend of April for another one... this is supposed to run a fall and spring class each over a 2 year period .. but I missed the one last spring so was making it up .. I'm through with the classes but still have outstanding book reports and video lesson observations to submit ... it will get done when school is out .. at least it's a bit flexible in getting the work submitted ! I already have the required 600 hours of tutoring practicum that go along with the requirements ..
on the personal front .. I'm a year older .. ... family was very nice to me ... one daughter put together a collage frame of all the children/grandchildren for me to have on my desk .. one daughter sent flowers .. daughter and son-in-law took me to one of my favorite restaurants for dinner .. and we have a show to go see tonight that I'm excited about seeing ...
on the "family" front .. husband's mother continues to improve by leaps and bounds and has once again taken over the reins of the family's seasonal business - running a popcorn stand at an amusement park ... the place was bought out by a camp resort company, and his father "lost" his job working in the office .. he's 81 and drawing unemployment for the first time in his life .. LOL .. my mother is still improving but still in the nursing home with rehabilitation .. not sure what will happen in long run .. I suspect that they'll want to move her home with support within a fairly short while, and my dad will require a lot of help to take care of her at home .. she will not walk in the immediate future .. her leg muscles are too weak and when she stands it hyperextends her knees .. they are still working to strengthen her, but it will be a very long process ...
on the "home" front .. we have had someone come to begin design plans and estimates for some home renovations .. there are things that need to be 'fixed' and we're weighing whether to fix or change ... front entry needs to be enlarged .. master bath/closet needs to be reworked ... and kitchen needs a better design ... we'll see what they come back with for these 3 projects ...
so April was a bit busy and I seem to just be trying to stumble on through May ... might be awhile before I make much of a post again ...
I do read the posts .. and enjoyed reading about Juice's pending arrival ... got the boards stirred up a bit didn't it?
see you !
It was a little like the prodigal son coming home really. After purchasing the "Minivan who cannot be named" he was talking a good game with "waiting to see the 09 Forester..." but our confidence had already been shaken.;-)
On another note, with a boy with learning issues, we do really appreciate the work that folks like yourself do. Unfortunately, the story is always the same. The OT who worked with our son is leaving for a job outside the school system due to understaffing and its fallout.
Regarding the chat try as I might I just cannot get in to it, I do get into a room but nobody is there.
Congrats juice on the new purchase, might be your wife's car, but you will let her have it some of the time Right?
On another note it is that time of the year when we move to the lake, still no internet service so I will check in when I can.
Cheers Pat.

Here's looking forward to the storm passing... bright blue skies and sunny days are on the way!
On a different note, I submitted my business plan to a local bank (initially) which after reviewing it, turned around and said they wanted more 'cash in advance'. I told them if that was the case, I didn't need them.
Well, I went to a bigger bank and they really liked the business plan. I should be getting the documents to fill out for the loan soon
Sounds like things are progressing! Good luck with everything there.
Brenda - hang in there - seems like the spring is a time of change.
For myself I was recently moved from the trading desk to work on "special projects" (whatever that may be) so until I learn what that means I'm doing all kinds of things. As we keep saying around the office- the times they are a changing.
Everyone hang in there, and hope Mother Nature is traeting everyone nice as well.
Mark
Last time Fitz just gave me the internet price with the benefits from the value price purchase, which is odd, but that's OK.
