We pretty much suspected OnStar would come. I guess that's good, for those that would want it. Honda was rumored to start using it too, and I bet Isuzu also will.

They archived that Legacy article already, but here is the beef of the article: "For the 2 liter and 2.5 liter turbo vehicles, they improved torque performance at low to intermediate ranges by 3 to 7 percent. All types have aluminum front hoods."

    Pretty please! Is it true?

The best part is apparently the B4s now come with Jennifer Lopez. ;-)

Brian: any future Subaru owners (i.e Daves) in the maternity ward?

I'm not impressed. After a year, users of OnStar need to subscribe (pay!) for continued service.

Seems like a gimmick to me.

It's been reported that less than half of OnStar subscribers continue the service once they have to pay for it. This has been a disappointment for GM, which was hoping for this to become a nice profit center.

Air-Bags recall on more Ford Vehicles...

When are people gonna realize that Ford is pretty bad as far as re-calls....

I thought OnStar was relatively successful. That's why it's expanding to other makes.

Not my cup of tea, personally. Concierge services? C'mon. Give me something useful, like mobile diaper changing services! ;-)

paisan: we have to remember, Ford produces 100 times more vehicles than Subaru, so they'll have 100 times more recalls (and then some).

Or, you could move to Venezuela and live happily ever after!

I just read over at i-club that QSubaru is still open and that Darlene is still there. Apparently, they were having some problems, but they didn't close their doors.

Ford - Didn't Ford recommend about 26 or so psi's on that tire? Hel-lo?

New Legacy - is nice. Actually, any Legacy over 165 hp would be great here. :-)
    Patti,
Here are some i-club new Legacy posts if you want to forward to Product Planning. Might want to delete the j. lo jokes though. :)http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/Forum1/HTML/023093.html

Q Subaru - I wonder if I can return my "over-priced" $5.25 oil filters and order from Darlene?

    Dennis
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I called and she had left for the day, but the guy said they never actually closed, they just had problems ordering parts. Now he says they're having some issues with shipping things out. Still some financial issues there, perhaps?

I'd wait to speak with her personally before the verdict is out.

    Boy, I hope so.

  • kenskens Member Posts: 5,869
So, was QSubaru open all this time but with their parts department down? I was under the impression that the whole operation had gone out of business.

Thanks for checking it out for sure, juice. I got a little excited to hear that they were still in business!

  • locke2clocke2c Member Posts: 5,038
It's actually Quality Ford, and they have Subaru as well. When a dealer's credit rating falls to the point they can't procure parts and new vehicles, they have a difficult time remaining in business even if their franchise is not revoked by the manufacturer.

I can't see how anything short of a cash infusion or transfer of ownership could change that.

    -Colin
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I'm not sure, but it sounds to me like the owner could not pay all the bills. So Subaru stopped filling orders (for parts at least, maybe more than that).

I wonder if they have now paid Subaru but owe money to the shipping companies now? Doesn't sound like the saga is over yet.

This is all speculation. I'll wait 'til I hear back from Darlene.

PS Save one of those B4s for me, please. The wife would even take a sedan.

    Sorry Drew, Juice, and gang,

I have to go to kid's school function tonight so won't be able to chat. I've missed a couple of weeks now and (yes, Juice I've been out driving that damn WRX) feel I've missed out some. Been to a couple of i-club functions in the area. The NW chapter meets across the lake over in Kirkland on Tuesdays at the Wing Dome restaurant for some hot wings, beverages, and Soobie sights & sounds.
Have fun tonight...share some highlights if you can.

    Thanks,
    Stephen
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
How 'bout you share some highlights? Take a camera to the next meet. Anyone done any mods to their Rexs there yet?

The chats have been great the past few weeks. Often too busy to keep up with, even.

PS The review of the Mini is up, Loosh

No, don't tell Kirsten to wait!! You need all the youthful energy you can take!

I'm an early riser because it is the only time I can get on the computer without having to "negotiate" with the kids!

    Chat with you all tonight!

    Patti
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I can attest to that. It takes all the energy you have to keep up with a toddler.

Subaru should study ways to harness the energy in toddlers.

I know this would come back to bite me! :-) I keep forgetting to bring a camera. Yes, several people have done mods to their Rexes. I'll take some pics (at least) of my ride now that I've debadged the rear and have my vanity plates. BTW, my first two choices were already taken even thought the WA State internet site said they were available. I ended up with 1KWKWGN.

but I'm sure it will attract many ticket-hungry cops too...

any good ideas for Forester personalized plates? I'm thinking to replace my lame "normal" ones with something more interesting

Here are some I thought about as well:

GOTGRIP (take off on the Got Milk theme)

    NOSLIPN

    RUGRIPN

H8YNERS (Hate whiners...this is actually my post name over at i-club)

    GRIPNGO

    SNOPRBM (Courtesy of Juice..)

PL8LESS (Could ya imagine this on a ticket...LOL)

WHEEEE (This was my second choice but wasn't available)

Most of the others I had on a list were more WRX specific.

    Have fun,
    Stephen
  • kate5000kate5000 Member Posts: 1,271
would be fun to have... but somehow I thought of a plate with a forest-trees-mountains theme... or some kind of "go anywhere" theme. The obvious (and somewhat lame) choice "MY4RSTR" is available, as per CA DMV site.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
The iClub guys call it the 4E* (four-e-star). Can't use a *, so how about:

    K8S 4STR

    Or is that too personal?

True story about a similar vanity plate.

California won't permit the assignment of NOPLATE because this is what the police write on tickets when there is no license plate (new car, etc). Seems that someone had that plate, and ended up saddled with all the violations assigned to those with no plate!

    Just for laughs,
    Steve
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    Those are some funny suggestions!

ALL C ZN is very clever. Takes a while to get, which I like.

...looked up NYS DMV for 'URNSO' (just for cheap thrill) someone took that. 'UR1SO' is still available.
Can't imagine riding around with plates like that.

If it interest anyone in NYS with their new WRXs
    'WRX 2002' is still available.

I personally like 'SU B RUS'

    G'day

Amused to find that Juice has street cred in this house at least. No, not for Subaru ownership )although that is cool) but for knowing Tutter, the blue mouse from Bear in The Big Blue House. Okay, he knows the puppeteer, but for a four year old, this is all the same!

    Cheers

Sorry I missed the chat last night. Hard drive failure has kept me away for a bit. What a mess. Not only is the Subaru Crew a really good group, it's also extremely prolific. I hate to thing about trying to catch up after being away for a week!! Good to be back though.

Does everyone remember how we were somewhat disappointed that Subaru didn't have lighted window switches and such? Well, last night while coming home and getting out of my WRX as it was dark I discovered that the driver's window switch is lit. No other window or door lock switches are though. I guess one switch is better than none at all. :-)

    Stephen
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
My driver's window switch on my '01 Forester is also lit. It's a convenient feature. Just wish they would light all the window switches.

    Bob
  • locke2clocke2c Member Posts: 5,038
You quickly become accustomed to where the switches are as the driver. In my opinion, if any switches should be illuminated they would be the passengers.

phew! gotta remember to limit my i-clubbing to Mid-A and Legacy. Every time I set foot in OT I regret it....so anyway, how are the civilized, rational, intelligent folks here on Edmunds doing this fine day? :)

Defending the Tri-state area :) I rarely venture out of Tri-state though. It's a wild world out there in I-club land.

Only way I could get in last night was to enable html in my preferences, first time this has ever happened.

The chat was almost over by the time I figured it out, was really bummed because I will not be back in until the fall.

Ross, I hear you I am only in once a week now and the only way I can keep up is to skim over the least interesting posts.
  • nygregnygreg Member Posts: 1,936
to miss the chat last night. I'll try next week.
