Also, I'm interested in AWD but finding one in the South to test drive has been tough. Can anyone comment on how AWD drives compared to FWD? AWD models do not come with a spare. Is there still room for one if I wish to purchase?
Thanks
thanks
Sienna, 7 Passenger, FWD
Package #4, floor mats
$25,350
But, I bought a Odyssey instead so I don't know for sure if they would have sold at that price. I have found that the price quoted is not always what the dealer will sell for.
The easiest thing is to deal with the dealer because all you do is sign one form and done. If the dealer gives you a hard time just call the division of Toyota that handles this stuff and they will help you, 800-228-8559. Worst case you mail them a letter and they will cancel it. Then you can go shopping for a warranty.
Can anyone confirm for me that you can buy the extended warranty anytime until 3/36000 is up?
$23,513 for the vehicle (including dest. charge)
$1,410 PA Tax
$125 tags
Total Out the door Price: $25,048
They were outstanding to work with and respected customers that utilized e-mail/internet for communications & research. They delivered the vehicle exactly when originally projected and never appeared to play any games. Originally agreed to the price in early December and picked up the vehicle in mid-January. A buyer could probably get a better price at this time.
All of the postings on this message board were extremely useful in establishing a benchmark price for negotiating, so thank you all!
Are the disc brakes and stability and traction control indispensible for such a large van? Anyone's got good experience with the standard brakes (disc front and drum rear) without traction control?
Btw, it's ArCtic (after many years in the frozen north I learned the correct spelling and now it bugs me to see it spelled C-less <g>).
Congrats on the new ride! (same to you, Scq, Mcibelli, et. al.)

Also, I called Toyota Warranty Services and they confirmed that I can buy the warranty anytime up until 3 years or 36K miles whichever comes first. Is there a benefit other than financing it to buying this warranty now? Or should I wait? Also, they told me at warranty services that in Florida, it is one of 10 or 11 states that doesn't sell warranty coverage. If you want the Toyota extended warranty, you have to buy it from a Lexus dealer. This must mean that all toyota dealers selling extended warranty's in FL are through 3rd party companies. I'm sure that is not fully explained when purchasing.
Anyway you will enjoy your Sienna immensely down the road, unpleasant experience at that dealership notwithstanding.

Here's how I assess the predominant risks. If you wait, you run the risk of a sudden price increase by the manufacturer.
However, if you buy now, you forego future use of the money that you spend. Furthermore, if you total the van before the original factory warranty (3yr/36K miles) is up, you waste the money.
At the very least be patient and work hard to get the best deal you can, i.e., $810-850 for the (7yr/100K/0 deductible) warranty. See my posts #3181 and 3188.
Sorry about your experience with the extended warranty, and thanks for the heads up to be sure to read all the papers carefully at the dealership before signing. I most likely will be getting a warranty sometime down the road after I have possession of my van. Build date is the week of 2/16.
ENJOY !

Also, if we decide to lease, should we still negotiiate on the Invoice price or focus on what we want to pay a month?
THANK YOU!
"We've just started our search and have received one quote on a '04 Sienna, XLE with #9(es)for $31,165. Is this a good deal?"
Edmund's invoice price is $28,216 for an XLE 7 FWD with option package #9 (MSRP = $31,910). The quote is a good deal for the store, but terrible one for you. You should be able to make your purchase within a few percent of invoice, even when a vehicle is selling well and dealer inventory is low.
See my posts #2623, 2632, 3030, and 3208 for guidance, and don't forget the $70 manufacturer-to-dealer Marketing Support that's available on '04 Siennas in some areas. When you make an offer, you should insist on a credit for ALL of the marketing support.

Before proceeding any further, I suggest you read "10 Steps to Leasing a New Car" on the Tips & Advice page of this Web site. I also strongly recommend you consider reading a good book on auto buying. Check your local library or bookstore. My all-time favorite auto buying book, which discusses leasing, its terminology, and pitfalls, is Remar Sutton's "Don't Get Taken Every Time" (latest edition, 2001), available in bookstores and thru Amazon.com.
Very, very basically, when you lease, your dealer will compute your payment based on the anticipated depreciation of the vehicle during the lease period, plus interest. Typically, the dealer will use either MSRP or even 110% of MSRP as a starting point.
In other words, your store will ask you to pay for all of the projected depreciation of the vehicle, starting from an inflated vehicle price, plus interest on that depreciation. Ugh. The dealer may also use an interest rate that's higher than the rate you'd be charged if you financed the purchase with a traditional auto loan. Ugh, again.
If you are certain you want to lease, I suggest you consider doing so thru a bank or credit union, particularly if your dealer is unwilling to negotiate price (close to invoice, of course) and then base lease payments on that price.
I noticed that in OK, we pay car tax at the tag agency. So when we buy cars, the car dealers don't charge us tax, so our OTD price is not the same as other states like TX, etc.
Right?
But I think you got a great deal--almost $3K off MSRP.
How much was your total price including OTD plus Tax, Title, and Tag?
Wow, I usually do my oil change at Dub Richardson, but I've never even seen a Sienna there. I thought perhaps Bob Howard and Fowler would give us the best deal, but I guess I'm wrong. Fowler told me "No Discounts" on the Limited because they are "Limited". That cracked me up!
But thank you very much for that information about your awesome deal. I will look right into it!
freebird73003 just got a Limited for $3K off MSRP, and that's in Oklahoma, which you would not even expect that much discount!
I would not give in until I got at least $3K off MSRP on any Limited model, AWD or FWD.
For me this lease makes a lot of sense. My wife wanted the Sienna, but I am not willing to pay anywhere close to the MSRP. In three years I am hoping that Honda, Toyota and DC will bloody each other to the point where I will be able to pick-up new Sienna for invoice minus 1 or 2 thousand in incentives. In addition, I will have a better quality van with more features that would not need an extended warranty (total savings about 4 to 5K).
You can negotiate on the sale price when you lease, just be careful, they can make up the difference on the interest rate (i.e. the money factor). My advice would be to learn how to calculate leases, ask the salesman what money factor and residual are and then grind them down on the price. If you can’t figure out how to calculate a lease, ask the F&I to show you what numbers he is putting into his computer to figure out the monthly payment and make sure they match the numbers that the salesman told you.
also, checked with autofair, and they want 2400 over invoice of XLE AWD. Not a great price. Any advice?
I just found a LXE AWD for $33,200, with GK package, thats $1600 off list. Spoke with autofair and they can't beat it. It is in production and I should have the vin # next week and due to ship 2/21. Does anyone know of any other trick besides, bait and switch and "taking me out of the market"?
Just trying to cover myself from the dealer playing games.
Thanks
I had purchased the same warranty for $1078 from the dealer where i purchased the vehicle in december 2003. I was just checking the paperwork and found out that it was not from toyota but with a third party called fidelity warranty service based in florida. I just called my dealership and cancelled the extended warranty as in Georgia you have up to 60 days to cancel the warranty without any administration costs.
I would still like to get a genuine toyota extended warranty if possible. Please reply ASAP.
Lastly, I have about 2700 miles on my van already. Will that make a difference when i purchase a extended warranty since technically, its not a "New" vehicle per se.
Thanks,
bkb2003.
Thanks.
David
Wow, I keep hearing about all these great deals that you all are getting. If it doesn't present a problem, please share names of dealers.
Just purchased a LE w/ BI (pkg#4) w/ floor mats and cargo thingy for $23,781+fees today. MSRP was $26,651. This dealership (in Fresno, CA) has had ONE like this every weekend for a little while now. Got the drop on it today. Thanks to all here for great advice.

Best of luck- with a little work, im sure you can do better than i did. I also paid $900 for the toyota 7/100 $0 deductible extended warranty.
Thank you,
Mike (mendot@thegrid.net)
Please advice.
I also noticed for the first time Sienna inventory on their lot.
Thanks.
Question to the general public -- What's the best LE package acquired for under 25K?
By the time the Sienna arrives, it will have been over five months since I placed my order and made my $1500.00 deposit. The 2005's will also be coming out in a few months. I need advice, please. The price I negotiated back in October was based on delivery around the end of December, and was also before I had to put a substantial amount of $$$ into my trade-in vehicle. Since we are now in the middle of the 2004 model year, the Sienna that I am still waiting on is not going to be worth as much in mid-March as it was back in October. I have been losing the interest I would have made on the $1500.00 this dealership has been holding onto. Should I just cancel my order at this point and wait for the 2005's (which I would order from a different dealership!)? Or, could someone suggest what a reasonable "discount" would be off of the original negotiated price for the 2004 model? Thank you.
Lustine is your typical dealer, just say NO a few times and things will happen. Other than swarmy dealer nonsense they were OK to deal with. Good luck.
