Daimler Chrysler today released preliminary details for the 2005 300N, Chrysler's flagship model. The 300N, which will become available in mid-2004, will be based off the current Neon platform. In making the announcement, Chrysler Group President Dieter Zetsche stated: "This is a natural progression of the 300 concept, tailored to the realities of the new millenium. This dynamic new vehicle will utilize the current Neon platform, but with an exciting new naturally aspirated 2.5 litre V-6 producing 210 horsepower. Combining style with economy and practicality, we believe that this vehicle will become the benchmark in the midsize economy performance segment."
A gasoline/electric hybrid version of the 300N will become available within a year of the introduction of the 2005.
I am planning to get my windows tinted (probably 35%), Sunguard film. Was quoted $290 for my 300M at one place - they do jobs for local Lexus, Jaguar, and Mercedes dealers. My local 5* referred me to the another place that will do the job for $219.
Does this seem like a fair price? is there a particular film that works best on our Ms? I know that professional installation is very important, and would probably check out both places for refs before I do this. Can anyone recommend a good tinting shop in Seattle?
Also, any problems with defroster and/or integrated AM/FM radio antenna after applying the film?

Sorry about a duplicate post - it seems that our proxy server at work messes things up.
BTW, your car looks awesome with the tinted windows, I hope that my color would look good too.
BTW, join the 300M Enthusiasts Club and come to a BBQ at the Presidents house (me) on May 11th. I already have several members coming, several of us with dual exhaust and various other mods.
Check us out at http://www.300mclub.org.
Of course that means I have to re do the scoop duct, to gain somemore clearance for the engine, when I use the spacers. The dealer said they would install the springs if I had new struts put on. I am going to see how hard it is to do since I have the spring compressors already.
Im having mine put in when I put it in for a brake job, cant stand the vibration in the wheel when I stop...
East Coasters ! Who is planning on driving to Detroit ??? Im thinking we could all meet up along the way and caravan our way to the dream cruise... or Toronto wherever the result is...
Whomever has a Nav system leads !
I want to Paint my calipers before I put on the new KVR Cross Drilled Rotors... I picked up some 1500 degree Black, Silver, and Clear paint. Im having some custom decals made up of the kvr logo on their web page... I plan on painting the calipers silver (few Coats), then put on the decals, and paint the calipers black(few more coats), then remove the decals and do a few clear coats... sounds good in theory to me... but is their anything I should avoid painting when I do it ? I noticed the clip right on the front, can this be painted ?
I grew up in Detroit & still visit family there regularly. I second your thoughts on Detroit. Most roads and hotels are indeed a bit "rough", (except for the "upscale" suburbs). Street crime continues to be a serious problem. The Windsor side is nicer IF you respect the Canadian rules (e.g. no radar detectors (many are confiscated at the border and a fine assessed- (not all border guards will let you off with a warning), NO FIREARMS without massive paperwork pre-approval, & no speeding since tickets are an "on-the-spot shakedown"-as in pay-up or go to jail). And do not even think about fishing/hunting in the Great White North without an expensive non-resident license.
In general, though, behave yourself in Canada & you'll have no problems. Even with the casino, rooms in Windsor can be reserved most non-holiday weekends without too much trouble.
Jon
Customs on the Canadian side do not have the right to seize radar detectors or give fines. They can suggest you put them in your trunk. Only the police have that authority. If they were being transported over the border for re-sale and was not declared, then that is another story. Go to any Canadian border crossing and see the number of weapons confiscated from people who were trying to smuggle them into the country. If you decare them at the border they will hold them until you cross back over, unless US authorities suggest otherwise.
I went to canada for a visit last week, and when I got to the border the customs agent asked me "do you have any illegal firearms"? I said, "what do you need?".
Igor
I plan on coming over on 11th. Thanks for the invite!
What surprises me is that it used to be fine before I took it in for service (AC belt replacement that was causing lots of noise at cold start). I also had a windshield crack repaired last week (my insurance covered 100%) that I did not notice before the visit to the dealer.
I doubt I will ever go back to Lynnwood Dodge again. Those of you in Seattle, can you recommend an honest 5* shop in Seattle-Bellevue-Lynnwood area?
At first the problem was brake fade which made me feel less than sure about my ability to stop as well as slight sterring wheel shake. I Refaced rotors and replaced pads with ceramic. Pedal feel improved, fade subsided, shake is history.
At appx 10000 miles, the steering wheel begins to shake once more. Back to the shop for new OEM rotors and another set of pads (semi metallic). Pedal feel now excellent.
At 15000 miles, steering wheel shake returns with a vengance. Mechanic shows me old rotors which had gotten so hot, that the metal had actually turned blue. Replace front rotors with KVR cross-drilled and return to ceramic pads to lower the heat transfer to the rotors. Pedal feel now excellent, and shake gone, BUT as the KVR rotors heat up under use, you can hear a groan from the rotors as you come to a stop. Called KVR. Was told that the tech would get back to me, still hasn't.
It is maddening not to be able to solve this one issue with what has otherwise been a faultless automobile.
Also, another ? on tire shine stuff. I know many here use the Zaino stuff, but have also head good things about Meguire's Endurance and have been seeing adds for WheelWax. What sya you all?

PS: work is under way for version 7 of my personal website:

My preference for tire dressing is Meguiar's Endurance. It gives a decent "glow" rather than a fake high gloss, does not spray out onto your paint (from centrifugal force of the rotating tire), and lasts as long as anything I've tried.
mikeyjohn-
I mean no disrespect, but Canadians tend to be MUCH more serious about enforcing fish & game laws than we are in the US (and properly so IMHO). I have never heard of Michigan DNR agents jailing a Canadian fiherman for fishing in US waters without a license, as Canadian agents have been reported to do to US fisherman (See Detroit News over past few years). It is my understanding from what I have read (various sporting magazines) that long guns can still be transported into Canada for guided hunting purposes but the paperwork process is long, arduous, and commonly subject to denial. Needless to say, the hunting industry in Canada is not happy about those regulations. Police often "hang-out" on both sides of the Windsor and Sarnia crossings to "enforce" provincial/state laws (inc. radar detector regulations, drunk driving). On the US side cops refer to this as "cherry picking"- easy tickets/busts for minimal effort. Regarding "declaring" firearms at the Canadian border, I would NEVER trust that the border authorities would "check" a firearm until your return to the states unless you are a sworn police officer (& can prove it). Many US servicemen have been jailed in Canada over the years for thinking they could "declare" a handgun (e.g. while driving from the lower 48 to bases in Alaska-See numerous articles in Air Force Times).
As I said, I grew up in Detroit & visit frequently. Canada is a fine country to visit & the dollar exchange rate is wonderful now, but Canada is NOT the "51st State" as so many ignorant Americans assume. It is a foreign country with its own rules & regulations (and a WONDERFUL auto plant in Ontario!).
Respect those rules & have fun times visiting.

I have had my 300 for nearly a year and have about 12.5k on it. I am getting terrible mileage in the city about 15-17 mpg I have a K&N Air Filter in anything else I can do to try and get better mileage. On the highway it get 21-23 mpg. Anything I can do or have my local 5* check to improve my mileage.
TIA
Rick
Gas mileage-As Blonda said in her post the gas milage is what you should expect to get. Your driving a big car with a 250 hp engine. I didn't buy my M to save on gas and if I had to do so I'd have bought a four banger Sebring (Which my daughter has and it is also a nice car but not a 300M) And I guess that as my company pays for my gas: who cares what the gas costs
This varies from car to car, even the same make, but some people see lots of mileage gain, others very little. I see some on my car, as I get 20 mph in the city and 28-30 highway.
Even if you don't gain much in mileage, you can save money by not changing your oil so often and using superior low friction lubricants. Look in you local white pages under Amsoil and you will probably find several local independent dealers that can help you out and tell you factual information about these great products. The web site is also very good. I've been using these products since 1985 and get low operating temperatures, better mileage, and less inconvienence of fluid maintenance. I change oil in my vehicles once a year and tranny and gear oil one time when new after break in metals have settled.
Please don't flame me for getting on my Amsoil soap box yet again (you long time readers of this board know what I mean)
Here's a good analogy. Amsoil is to all other oils what Zaino is to all other waxes.
The car is not babied. I drive it hard and like to hear the duals growl. I have not stretched it out on a long, steady speed, interstate highway trip yet, but hope it will jump up to the 25's (at least) when I do.
MOPAR or no car!
http://dodgeboy.cjb.net
when you changed the tranny fluid did you do a complete flush?---how many quarts does it take to do a complete flush?
how much is the tranny fluid--does it come in only one type--does it state atf4 compatible--can you mix it with the atf4
Muskateer3, are you hearing the groan using the KVR Pads ?
Scotian, any complaints with the Porterfield Pads ? I ordered the same ones you did.
this is one problem I want to avoid before I get these installed.
