I am in Aberdeen as well, and I have tried for a few days to get a single quote from these guys. I have checked around at other dealer ships and I have a quote for $29500 + TTL from Bryan Honda in Fayetteville. I would be interested to see what you get out of this dealership as I would rather buy locally. I was interested in the EX-L RES in Sage Brush Pearl. Wish there was a way to email each other.
Go for it. if u can try to get one more free acessory,it will be great...if not this itself sounds good to me....
Vehicle 22,800 (includes destination and cargo net)
Doc Fee 55
Misc other 25
OTD 22,880
I'll pay sales tax and license later since I don't live in Illinois and nothing else so they say. We're supposed to pick it Saturday and I'll post how it goes later. Internet sales person was very nice, knowledgeable, straight forward and a pleasure to work with.
Can anyone tell me if there are any finance deals (low apr) on the Odyssey - I can't see any?
Thanks for every ones help on this forum. It made researching car prices and quality checks/comparisons much easier and it's nice to get every ones honest opinions with no strings attached.
Looked at Blue-book trade in value for an Odyssey EX w/ 130,000 miles at my
zipcode in good condition:
1998 = $5395
1999 = $6780
If you can wait one month and get an Odyssey for the next model year, then
by these calculations, an '05 vs '06 Odyssey at most will result in a resale
difference of ~$1400 in 7 years (Of course, this also depends on assumptions
about the base price of the '98/'99 Odyssey.
Personally, for me, the difference between an '05 and an '06 would have to be
less than $1000 to make it worth my while to wait. The question is, do you think
you can bargain with a dealer well enough to get that price on the '06 model
when it comes out?
- Your 7 year mileage estimate probably isn't the same as mine.
- Your 7 year car condition probably won't be the same as mine.
- Watch out for model year changes for the two years you have chosen
- The longer you keep the car, the harder it is to make an estimate, but then
again, the difference between the two is also shrinking quickly.
Good luck!
AND your orices sound really good...particularly the 36,637...hell, split the differnce with him between that and invoice...35,888 or thereabouts...where are you located ??
THanks!
Would someone kindly provide the following info or any buying tips:
1. What is the current Out of Door price in this area I can ask for the dealership?
2. Does the 2005 Odyssey cleanance start?
3. How much should I ask for if i want to buy 2006 Odyssey EX?
4. any recommendations for a good dealership around this area (or within 2~3 hours driving can reach)?
Thanks a lot.
I'm not buying that the Touring models are *flying off the shelves* - I'm thinking that most people would get the EX-L R&N for several thousand $$ less. I think the market for Honda buyers in the range of the Touring is limited. The salesman said that the Touring model was produced in limited quantity - which is part of why it's hard to find it on dealer lots. I see Odyssey's everywhere - I haven't seen the Touring ones on the street - since I started looking, anyway.
from Pacific Honda in San Diego. This is $1500 over invoice. Includes
mud guards, cargo tray, & wheel locks. Itemized detail is clean- $45
doc fee is the only dealer markup. No trade-in, no financing.
They won't honor it (the day after they sent it to me): "senior
sales mgr retracts approval of junior sales mgr".
Can they do that? If yes, what's the point of getting things
in writing?
The full story:
Salesman shows us various combos- we settle on Silver ext/black
interior, Touring R&N. They don't have it in inventory.
On the lot- I make an offer $1000 over invoice for a trade or
future delivery. If they can get one today- I'll buy today, otherwise
will place deposit. Make it clear no trade-in & no financing.
Salesman- to my surprise- comes back & says sales manager
approves, shows me the specific silver/black vehicle scheduled
to be delivered from factory (in ~ 1week), and shows me the
invoice price we're working up from. Will require $500 refundable
deposit to reserve. "Deal" I say, and allow myself to enter
his cube to start the paperwork.
As I'm filling out some basic name/address stuff (refused to
do a credit app, since I'm not financing)- he wanders off
& comes back: "can't do the deal: 'bad' sales manager thought
we're talking EX-L not touring, tried to argue with him, best
he'll do is MSRP." So I walk, leaving my phone #. Seemed
like the typical good/bad cop plus bait & switch tactic.
Next day, get a call from salesman- "I went to a different,
more senior sales mgr. Great news- he approved $1500
over invoice." Me- "Great. As long as there's no funky
stuff embedded in the OTD price, we got a deal. Fax
me the itemized OTD quote."
He promptly obliges by faxing 4 different OTD quotes,
showing different price points with various
add'l accessories & warranty packages.
I call back, get vmail, and accept the 40,200 OTD quote.
Tell him to give me a call, and I'll place a CC deposit.
Too good to be true- next day, salesman calls back-
yet another salesmanager nixed the deal. Best offer
now $500 below MSRP. They won't offer the written
quote.
Do I have any recourse?
I did get a quote from the poster here who is the Internet person there - $35700 + tax, title, admin fees.
Well, i dont know why you would do that.
bottom line, go to some one who honors their word like gentleman, and not to liers....
I called around 30 dealers within a 150 mile radius in the state of WA. (use http://www.hondacars.com). Here is the summary:
The best deal that I got was 750 over invoice + T&L from Discovery Honda @ Moses Lake. Most of the other dealers refused to even come close to that price. There was one dealer (forget where) who was willing to match that price, but only because they had a last minute cancellation. Unfortunately, they didn't have the color that I was looking for.
I had a very interesting conversation with Northwest Honda. On Friday, they agreed to match 750 over invoice for a pre-sale (est date Aug-Sept). I called back on Saturday and asked them if they could do better, because it was a pre-sale; and I had an offer on hand. They refused and added 400$ to that price. When I asked them to fax a confirmation, I got a delivery date of Sept-Oct.
After seeing a delivery date of Sept-Oct, I tried once more for a lower price -- The vehicle was available only after 2 months and more importantly, at the same time as the 2006s. They refused, and accused me of going back on my word.
Anyway, had the most pleseant experience in doing the deal with Discovery Honda @ Moses Lake. The other cool thing about them was the lower tax rate (8.1%). Message me if you want more information.
-RoastBoar.
Hope that helps you. Good luck in your experience.
Not sure what dealer you're working with. I bought my 01 Accord from Fairfax honda when I lived up there...not the best experience at that dealership, but I did get a deal done....
Glad to hear things went very well for you! Sounds like you got a good deal.
Question for ya! On your EX, did you get $750 over invoice where the invoice price included destination charge? So was the invoice price you started from around $27,400 or $28K?
Thanks!
I know that other people in other states are paying just invoice + Destination for their vehicles; but the supply/demand factor is in the dealers favor in the WA (or for that matter, OR) area. Most of them are selling their vans here for MSRP.
I did consider buying the car from another state and getting it shipped, but it wasn't worth it because I'd land up paying more with the shipping costs and the higher tax rate. If you purchase a vehicle in the state of WA, you pay the tax of the county you purchased from. However, if you buy the car from another state, you pay the tax of your county you live in. For me, the difference was about $300.
Good Luck!
My only problem is that I really want the EXwL in Black/Tan color and either they are artificially reducing the supply so that you pay above sticker when a dealer gets them or they are really not as popular, as some dealers have told me.
I am willing to pretty much fly to any place in the continental US to get one and drive it back.
Any one have any information they'ed like to share about their buying experience for a Black EX with L? What they paid and where? I am sure when Howdy Honda gets one in August they will expect MSRP, which I will not pay since I plan on buying in cash.
The best price I could get in this area is mid 37k + tax (touring w/ N+E). That is 3k above the invoice price. My comfortable price is between 35k-36k + tax (destination, docs, etc charges are included).
After a whole week of shopping around and researching, I think I am going to open up my option for toyota sienna. I found that toyota dealers' in chicago-land have abundant stock of sienna. I know for sure that arlington heights and schaumburg toyota have more than 50 siennas in their lot EACH. So we are talking about more than 100 siennas from 2 toyota dealers that need to be sold within a month or so since 2006 model is coming very soon. That does not include siennas from other toyota dealers.
I am not in a hurry to buy a mini van. Both sienna and odyssey are made by outstanding car manufacturers. It boils down to the features & prices that I would be comfortable with.
I have owned 2 toyotas and 1 honda, and now I am in the market for my second honda. Both toyota and honda have quality cars. However, I found Toyota dealers (i.e. sales person) are more customer oriented and not-as-pushy as honda sales perseon. 2 of my toyota purchased went without any negative feeling against the dealers.
If you are in the market for honda odyssey, and if you are not in a hurry and price is one of your major criteria, you may want to open up your option for sienna, or at least wait for a month until the 2006 model is out.
Good Luck.
I was sorry to see that Pacific Honda handled this so poorly. Due to sustaining two broken windows in a smash and grab while vacationing in San Diego in June, I took my Odyssey there and was treated wonderfully. Repairs were performed quickly and competently. Too bad their sales department is another story.
How'd we do? We had to drive 100 miles to pick it up, but it just seemed everything in our area was sold or selling close to sticker. Our interior is Grey Leather.
Also, can someone tell me, if the center tray console is standard. We received one, but I didnt get the Pro Pack.
so our choice was limited and we got the desert rock as that was the only light color available with tan.
It also depends where u live, if ur in texas heat then go with light color, more soothing, if northeast than black can be an option.
Appreciate all your help.
AK
The flip up tray is the only accessory we received and Im not sure if that should be counted as standard or not. There was some pin striping.
What type of accessories are being included for that price?
I wanted the Pro Pack but I can buy it later.
I'm looking for a similar deal (EX-L). I live in Utah and willing to travel to get the car. What was yourt OTD price? Do you have an exact breakdown of what they charged you? I'm looking for a Red with an Ivory interior.
Thanks for your hellp.
AK
Where did you purchase this EX-L for 27,500? It's a great price.
AK
How much OTD?
AK
29686 including the destination fee of 515 (airport marina honda)
29886 including dest fee + wheel locks and a free oil change (honda oc world)
any thoughts on these quotes? Thanks...
These simply do not sell very well in black. I'm in the Seattle area where it doesn't get hot in the summer and they don't sell well here either.
As a result, the dealers don't order very many. this is why they are so hard to find.
You may want to consider the fact, black shows EVERYTHING. dirt, scratches, swirl marks etc.
I know I've had my last black car.
Thanks for the tips from everyone on forum...
Also not the board to discuss this, but has the clunking noise with the VSA/ABS been resolved or is it a widespread issue, I know at least 3 people who personally complained about this.
Odyssey - 31,100
Wheel Locks - 129
Trunk Tray - 129
Crossbars - 299
Destination - 515
Tax - 1930.32
Registration - 342
Doc Fee - 159
Tire Fee - 7.50
Out the door $34,610.82
Any obvious overpayment?? I'm ready to deal.
Doc Fee - 159
Those two are glaring ripoffs. Wheel Locks can be had for $59 or so on handa accessories, and maybe $50 for doc fee.
As for the doc fee, I found NJ dealer doc fees to range from $99 to $175. Nothing in the $50 range. How negotiable is this item??
i'm also looking to buy, but not necessarily in a huge rush (can wait a few months if necessary). would it be better to buy now, or to wait until the 06s arrive? will the 06 be more expensive? also, is it better to wait until late aug/sept to buy the remaining 05s (and run risk of not getting model/color i want)? thanks for any help
Good luck on your negotiations and with your Ody.
