I've been shopping around the bay area and it seems like all the dealers are selling their Honda Odyssey around MSRP. Can you help me out and give me the name of the dealership you went to? Also, were you able to get the color of your choice? Thanks for your time.
I'm looking to potentially sell or upgrade my car in 1 years time. I'm close to buying a 2006 LX (odyssey). The dealer is willing to give me 1K over invoice for LX and EX. I'm torn with trying to decide what would give me a better turn around cash value in a year...would it be :
1) buy a new car with more features. (selling privately, would be better)
2) simply by the skeleton LX model. (selling privately, would be better)
3) buy a used car. (hence i dont put in too much, and will walk away with close to the same amount)
let me know what you think....I know some people who have car businesses, they buy it, and resell it for higher values....i guess i was wondering at the possibilities. :shades:

Tariq
I live around the Los Angeles area and would like to find out if anyone recently purchased the same model. If there is someone out there, please let me know how much you paid for it. If I don't get a good deal on the '06, I'm thinking of purchasing an '05. Is that a bad idea??
Regards
Should I jump on this offer right away or should I negotiate a lower price?

I am interested in going prices as I am selling my 05 with 9k mi and asking $29,950. Some people want to save some and other will buy new.
But one thing is clear--your dealer is a nut job.
You should be able to get a Touring w/DVD and NAV for this price (if you get lucky) or get Touring with DVD only for about $2-3K less.
If you can find an '05, I would not pay more than $31,750 + tax/registration since it will have an additional year of depreaciation and a slightly weaker powertrain warranty.
Thanks a lot. This is very good info. Can you tell us the source? Please, it will help.
mike
That is about 500 over invoice according to Cplin34. Is that right? How was that possible?
mike
Please advise!!!

The holdback amount is exactly 3 (three) percent off the MSRP. My wife just ordered consumer report for the Odyssey and holdback price is written there and equal 3% of msrp

Hope this helps and I appreciate all the information that's been published.
Dealer Holdback
And, please.. Don't type in all CAPS. It is the message board equivalent to shouting, and makes posts difficult to read.

Anybody here have any light to shed on whether or not this is a good deal? I've been looking at these and the Sienna's for about 5 months now.
Thanks,
LX - $23,221 (MSRP 25,745), EX - $25,917 (28,745), EX-L - $27,984 (31,045), EX-L RES - $29,422 (32,645), EX-L RES&NAVI - $31,399 (34,845), Touring (all include RES) - $31,758 (35,245), Touring RES & NAVI - $35,173 (39,045). Note that somehow the Honda site comes up with an MSRP for a touring R&N of $39,795, just $300 more than the 2005 MY. This proves to me these are last year’s numbers so add that $300 to all prices above if you want TRUE 2006 figures. Bottom line is the MSRP's could be off; the invoice prices aren't as the dealer hesitantly confirmed accuracy today.
I am in W-FL and dealers here aren't willing to negotiate much below MSRP, can't blame them. I negotiated from a Honda store near Atlanta this deal and pick it up next week (air fare is only $79 and they'll pick me up), includes a full tank of gas (over $100 value in Atlanta if you can find it), what do you think?
2006 Ody Touring RES & NAVI in the color choice in/out that we wanted, with 7 Honda options, some installed by yours truly. They are carpet mats, Air Deflector, Moonroof Visor, Door Visors, Cargo Board, Table Leg Kit, and Splash Guards. Hardware add ons retail are $1,129 (before installation) and I got them just below cost for $580. Total price before everything except tax & tag is $38,500 as equipped. MSRP is $40,474 so I got it basically $1974 below MSRP or about $2300 over actual dealer cost/invoice. There is also $1,155 of dealer holdback so they still made over 3-grand. I think this is a good deal and it took over a dozen internet quotes to get this low. Three local dealerships wouldn't discount to the $37K range with an MSRP of $39.3K before any options. Dealers charge this much simply because they can, it's not arrogance, more like supply and demand, GBA & Honda too!
Looking forward to reader feedback.
I understand that the invoice price is $31,673 (which includes destination charge). Would like to hear if anyone has been able to get any good deals in the Seattle / Redmond area. Let me know the price & which dealership you bought it at. Thx
Appreciate all the good information being posted and shared here.
It's the market that determines pricing.
Thanks,
NJ.
The price I mentioned was all about 2005 and my expectation about 2006. I will wait until at least end of Sept. to start my mass email request. The best price I got was from Yuba City, the internet manager was pleasant to deal with. Prefesionally and willing to spend time talking to me. Grace Honda offered the lowerest price within the local dealer but did not have the color I want.
Good luck.
I was recently quoted $28,448 before tax, license and doc fees for a 2006 Odyssey EX-L. Should I jump on this deal or try to get a lower price?
Thanks,
ck
Can you tell us what state did you get this price in?
Did we get a good deal :confuse: ? I see where someone else paid $29,500 for the same thing in Florida. We felt like it was a good deal b/c another dealer wanted to charge us more than the MSRP!
I was trying to go through COSTCO route, but the site says that for the chosen car they don't have costco pricing. I am in BAY AREA and looking for odyssey EX-L, R&N. DO you mind sharing which deal willing to offer $1000 below MSRP ? The best so far I got on 2006 is $34285, doesn't include destination etc.
Thanks.
Why do you think the invoice for 2006 EX-L is 28350-28488 ? According to the consumer report the base invoice (without destination) 27,434. Now add 550 in destination charges and it comes out to 27,984. Where did you take such a high figures from? Don’t forget 3% holdback from the msrp. It is about 914. subtract this number from the above figure (27,984 – 914) and you are getting real dealer’s cost for the EX-L = 27,070
