Go back through this thread and you will find a lot of good info. Prices often depend on location.

    Hi,
I've been shopping around the bay area and it seems like all the dealers are selling their Honda Odyssey around MSRP. Can you help me out and give me the name of the dealership you went to? Also, were you able to get the color of your choice? Thanks for your time.

    Hey Guys...

I'm looking to potentially sell or upgrade my car in 1 years time. I'm close to buying a 2006 LX (odyssey). The dealer is willing to give me 1K over invoice for LX and EX. I'm torn with trying to decide what would give me a better turn around cash value in a year...would it be :

    1) buy a new car with more features. (selling privately, would be better)
    2) simply by the skeleton LX model. (selling privately, would be better)
    3) buy a used car. (hence i dont put in too much, and will walk away with close to the same amount)

let me know what you think....I know some people who have car businesses, they buy it, and resell it for higher values....i guess i was wondering at the possibilities. :shades:

    Regards,
    Tariq

Does anyone know the Dealer invoice on '06 EXL w/DVD & NAV?

I live around the Los Angeles area and would like to find out if anyone recently purchased the same model. If there is someone out there, please let me know how much you paid for it. If I don't get a good deal on the '06, I'm thinking of purchasing an '05. Is that a bad idea??
  • muddyriverduckmuddyriverduck Member Posts: 18
Really? Car businesses buy at one price and then sell for a price that is higher?? That's brilliant!! Why didn't I think of that?!?!? :P
  • tjalilitjalili Member Posts: 6
does it sound that rediculous....which option do you think would be most worthwhile if i'm thinking short-term.

I called them when I told the salesperson where I was calling from[ NY] he said why dont you purchasing it in NY. I said Im looking for a deal and willing to travel. He said well we sell around msrp. I would never consider buying from them.
  • ahalyaaahalyaa Member Posts: 25
i am surprised, were you considering buying ody or pilot since they don't have much of 05 ody selection. Also you must consider the driving distance too. I live here in pittsburgh and its only 2 hours drive and besides they had the confidence that i will close the deal which is very important.
  • cars7cars7 Member Posts: 24
Sorry I did not clarify, I was looking for the 2006 model. They told me msrp.

I requested a quote from a dealer here in Northern VA (Hendrick Honda of Woodbridge). Below is an email of his quote/offer. I've purchased from this dealer before and I like them. The offer seems to be a great offer considering the popularity of the Touring w/ NAV&RES.

Should I jump on this offer right away or should I negotiate a lower price?

    Here's the offer:

    2006 Honda Odyssey Touring w/DVD
In-Stock and Ready for IMMEDIATE DELIVERY

Your Special Internet Price is as follows:

$38,118.00.................Dealer Retail Price with Hendrick Honda Value Package
$37,645.00.....Your Special Internet Price (Includes Freight)
$39,172.40.................Your Total Out the Door Price
I have a 10:00AM or 5:25PM slot available for a test drive tomorrow.

Which is best for you tomorrow?

Prices are good on In Stock units only

NOTE: Your Total Out-the-Door Price includes:

    Freight charges
Applicable Virginia tax, title and license fees
    Dealer processing fees

Your Price also includes the Hendrick Honda Value Package which includes:

    Door Edge Guards
    Wheel Well Guards
    Pin Stripes
    Mud Guards

Go elsewhere. I bought my 04 Nav Res for 33k last november and that was good then but lately i have seen 32k for 05's. The 06 is about $500 higher so I suspect a good deal 32.5 to 33k with no trade. Good luck
I am interested in going prices as I am selling my 05 with 9k mi and asking $29,950. Some people want to save some and other will buy new.

But one thing is clear--your dealer is a nut job.

Anyone know what the 06 Odysseys 3 and 4 year residual vaues are ?. Also - what has Honda Finance been giving for a 36 and 48 mo lease in terms of interest rate ?
  • tunractunrac Member Posts: 19
MSRP on '06 Odyssey Touring w/ DVD (no NAV) is $37,145 and they are offering to selll you at $500 over sticker = bad deal!

You should be able to get a Touring w/DVD and NAV for this price (if you get lucky) or get Touring with DVD only for about $2-3K less.
  • tunractunrac Member Posts: 19
With destination, invoice on '06 EXL w/DVD and NAV is $31,673 and you should be able to get it for at most $33,000 + tax/registration. You may have to work multiple dealers to get this price, depending on inventory.

If you can find an '05, I would not pay more than $31,750 + tax/registration since it will have an additional year of depreaciation and a slightly weaker powertrain warranty.

As previously posted, it was fairly easy to negotiate a price of 28700 including destination for a 2006 EX-L in whatever color we wanted (this is in NH). If you are thinking about paying any more than $1000 over invoice I would highly suggest calling several dealers in your area and playing the pricing game over the phone.

I understand that the invoice price is $31,673 (which includes destination charge). Would like to hear if anyone has been able to get any good deals in the Seattle / Redmond area. Let me know the price, which dealership you bought it at & if you have a contact name as well, that will be terrific

I got an offer for 2006 EX-L w/DVD & NAV for $34645 (only $500 below MSRP). I live in the Los Angeles area and I guess there's high demand for the car. Should I take the offer or should I do more shopping around?

    Please advise!!!

The holdback amount is exactly 3 (three) percent off the MSRP. My wife just ordered consumer report for the Odyssey and holdback price is written there and equal 3% of msrp

There is demand for this vehicle in LA/OC, but you can still do better if you don't need to buy ASAP. Go through the internet departments of a few dealerships and you should be able to get this model for ~$33K+tax/registration as long as you are not set on one color only.

I've been emailing dealers in our area for the past week (150 mile radius - about 20+ Dealers) and have gotten about 6-7 to respond. Offers are all over the map from $38k to $36,5k. After receiving best offer, began playing dealers off each other and got the price down to $36000+tax and tags. It can be done - just takes some time. I was surprised myself that the prices got down this low and how quick some dealers would "match" or beat offers. If you don't like to "haggle" - use email. That's what I did with all of these dealers.

Hope this helps and I appreciate all the information that's been published.
  • gmacostagmacosta Member Posts: 14
where in LA are you? I drove 2 hours to get my deal of $32600 +ttl. Try the dealers in Simi Valley, Ontario, and Diamond Bar. Go the email route and don't tell them what color you want, say your color blind. If they have the color you want , then say I'll take any color except that. I got responses from 25 dealers and these were the top 3. One dealer had the color I wanted with my package, but i didn't show them my excitement. Oh I got my 2005 3 months ago. don't know if pricing for 2006 is the same and the demand for it.

I purchased my odyssey touring with nav and dvd in cleveland ohio- cost me 99$ from portland oregon, and i just got back from the trip- it was great! no strings attached, easy pickup and had a great time driving back!!! I would do it again in a minute. I saved close to $2000 from my lowest quote in oregon!!! AT least I got to have my own vacation instead of giving it to a dealer!

I just got a 2006 EX-L for exactly $500 over invoice plus an additional $550 for destinaltion charge in the philly area. I stuck the deal with internet sales team. It was the most pleasant deal i ever made.

All - long time reader of the forums, first time poster. I am here in Milwaukee, WI attempting to negotiate the purchase of a 2006 Odyssey EX. Today (Labor Day) I was at the dealership for about 2 hours and walked out with a quote for $28,499 Out the door (all in price) with 4.9% financing for 60 months. I am hoping to squeeze another $800 out of the dealership or get 3.9% for 60 months.

Anybody here have any light to shed on whether or not this is a good deal? I've been looking at these and the Sienna's for about 5 months now.

Just purchased a 2005 Odyssey Touring w/ DVD&NAV, 1st minivan, and it is a great vehicle. One question, what is that noise between 40-65mph? Is it the run flat tires? The sound disappears around 70mph. It sounds like a loud engine hum or the tires. Love to hear experienced Odyssey owners opinion.
  • njguy3njguy3 Member Posts: 7
I am looking for Odyssey too. Can you PM me the dealership and contact person name details?

Before I share what I consider our good deal, here are the not free actual Dealer Invoice Prices for various 2006 Ody trim lines as of yesterday according to a national non-profit organization who shall remain nameless but initials are the 3rd and 18th letters. Edmunds did a fine job of not only getting close to these numbers but also conveying what you can typically negotiate down to and could have saved me $12 if I believed them, LOL. The prices include destination of $550 so the only other things you should have to pay are dealer prep fees ($300-$500), tax, tag, and oh, of course profit. Seems some dealers won't budge, don't expect to get close to the invoice figures on as 2006 models were release 10 Aug but you should be able to split the diff between these and MSRP (in parens):

LX - $23,221 (MSRP 25,745), EX - $25,917 (28,745), EX-L - $27,984 (31,045), EX-L RES - $29,422 (32,645), EX-L RES&NAVI - $31,399 (34,845), Touring (all include RES) - $31,758 (35,245), Touring RES & NAVI - $35,173 (39,045). Note that somehow the Honda site comes up with an MSRP for a touring R&N of $39,795, just $300 more than the 2005 MY. This proves to me these are last year’s numbers so add that $300 to all prices above if you want TRUE 2006 figures. Bottom line is the MSRP's could be off; the invoice prices aren't as the dealer hesitantly confirmed accuracy today.

I am in W-FL and dealers here aren't willing to negotiate much below MSRP, can't blame them. I negotiated from a Honda store near Atlanta this deal and pick it up next week (air fare is only $79 and they'll pick me up), includes a full tank of gas (over $100 value in Atlanta if you can find it), what do you think?

2006 Ody Touring RES & NAVI in the color choice in/out that we wanted, with 7 Honda options, some installed by yours truly. They are carpet mats, Air Deflector, Moonroof Visor, Door Visors, Cargo Board, Table Leg Kit, and Splash Guards. Hardware add ons retail are $1,129 (before installation) and I got them just below cost for $580. Total price before everything except tax & tag is $38,500 as equipped. MSRP is $40,474 so I got it basically $1974 below MSRP or about $2300 over actual dealer cost/invoice. There is also $1,155 of dealer holdback so they still made over 3-grand. I think this is a good deal and it took over a dozen internet quotes to get this low. Three local dealerships wouldn't discount to the $37K range with an MSRP of $39.3K before any options. Dealers charge this much simply because they can, it's not arrogance, more like supply and demand, GBA & Honda too!

    Looking forward to reader feedback.

Wondering if anyone has any experience (good or bad) with using a car buying service or broker in obtaining the best price possible. Based on what I've been seeing posted here, the 06 Odyssey best deals are approximately $1,000 over invoice (includes destination charges), depending on location. Being in a high-demand area like San Francisco Bay Area, the best deal here I've found thus far is the thru Costco at $1,000 below MSRP but you have to possible order and wait a few months to obtain.

Appreciate all the good information being posted and shared here.

You can get a good deal. Just know an Odyssey isn't a "invoice up" car.

It's the market that determines pricing.
  • njagsnjags Member Posts: 1
I live in the DC metro area and most dealers here quote $27500 + TTL for an 2006 Odyssey EX. I happened to check out a couple dealerships in OH and PA and got a quote for $26600 + TTL. Does anyone had any better deals on EX lately? Also, so far I have been corresponding with the dealers by email and will now start talking to them. Hopefully, they will stick to their word and deliver at the promised quote. I am not sure if there is anyway to hold them to their promise and prevent them from jacking up the price once I go there to get delivery. Any experiences or suggestions on getting more than just a verbal promise and an email with quote? Maybe I am being too negative, but wanted to get some more views.
    Thanks,
    NJ.

I haven't started my shopping for 2006 yet. The bay area in general has very high demands and most dealers are holding their prices tight. The worst experience is Stevens Creek, so I personally will not even try that dealership (not just high price, but also tricky selling approach such as bait & switch).

The price I mentioned was all about 2005 and my expectation about 2006. I will wait until at least end of Sept. to start my mass email request. The best price I got was from Yuba City, the internet manager was pleasant to deal with. Prefesionally and willing to spend time talking to me. Grace Honda offered the lowerest price within the local dealer but did not have the color I want.

    Good luck.

    Hi all,
I was recently quoted $28,448 before tax, license and doc fees for a 2006 Odyssey EX-L. Should I jump on this deal or try to get a lower price?

    Thanks,
    ck
  • odessitodessit Member Posts: 140
Sounds more or less reasonable. Its between 4 to 8 percent profit from the actual dealer cost. Their cost for the EX-L is around 27,070. So you would be paying around 1,400 over it, which makes their profit. I’d say it is reasonable, although if you feel you can get lower then by all means do it :)
Can you tell us what state did you get this price in?
  • cwkwancwkwan Member Posts: 12
California. I have received quotes from 28,448 to $30,000 before fees.
  • undercoverinflundercoverinfl Member Posts: 1
Hi, we just purchased the 2006 Odyssey EX-L with RES for a cost of $30,589 (not including taxes or tags). This price included the destination fee. B/c the dealer charged a $599 processing fee, we got them to cut that in half and they did that by reducing our price to $30,289. We bought the car in Hollywood, FL.

Did we get a good deal :confuse: ? I see where someone else paid $29,500 for the same thing in Florida. We felt like it was a good deal b/c another dealer wanted to charge us more than the MSRP!

    Hi
I was trying to go through COSTCO route, but the site says that for the chosen car they don't have costco pricing. I am in BAY AREA and looking for odyssey EX-L, R&N. DO you mind sharing which deal willing to offer $1000 below MSRP ? The best so far I got on 2006 is $34285, doesn't include destination etc.
  • 330blast330blast Member Posts: 49
Do you mind sharing which part of California did you get this price (Dealer name)? The invoice of 2006 EX-L is somewhere between $28,350 - $28,300, so $28,488 (if destination included) is a very good price. I live in SF bay area, and am looking for an 06 EX-L. Don't mind travel a bit for a good deal like that.

    Thanks.
  • odessitodessit Member Posts: 140
    330blast,
Why do you think the invoice for 2006 EX-L is 28350-28488 ? According to the consumer report the base invoice (without destination) 27,434. Now add 550 in destination charges and it comes out to 27,984. Where did you take such a high figures from? Don’t forget 3% holdback from the msrp. It is about 914. subtract this number from the above figure (27,984 – 914) and you are getting real dealer’s cost for the EX-L = 27,070
