Try Hugh White first (and/or last). Several folks (including myself) have reported fine prices there. Marysville Hona might also be worth a try. Haven't heard of good prices at either Roush or Immke. Honda East has been advertising heavily of late and may be trying to correct problems they were having over the past year (when they drove many customers - including myself - away).

I'm about to pull the trigger on the following deal, but I'm a little concerned by all the quotes at invoice...2006 Touring with Nav and RES:
    $36,647.00 + 299.00 Doc Fee + free splashguards, wheel Locks, cargo tray = $36, 946 +TTL.

They're giving me about $2k over Edmund's TMV trade-in value on my 2005 MDX ($30k).

Any thoughts before I throw 37 grand out the window?

    Hello,

Can you tell me what dealership gave you that pricing. I live in the Kansas area (10 hours drive away from Chicago). At $100 under invoice, I can fly there & drive the van back!

    Thanks,
    Das M.

Florida is a tough market. The best figure I got last spring for an EX (ultimately not purchased by my father) was at the store in Daytona Beach (can't recall the name).

Stay clear of Space Coast in Cocoa.

I haven't seen any posts since 2004 and someone searching for advice in 2005 about buying in CT. I'm looking to buy a 2006 Odyssey, EX-L with NAV and RES and was wondering what my starting point should be. I see invoices for EX-Ls without RES or NAV but was wondering what range I'm looking at with those features because although it may be more cost effective by a few hundred dollars to have them installed after the fact, I'd rather just have an inclusive deal. Thanks in advance for all of your help. You all seem to know a lot more than your average Joe like myself. I'm 24 and I'm just starting to get into the buying large ticket items on my own. I've got my first home and now I'm looking for something that'll be reliable and keep my fiance, son and future child(due next year) safe and still have room to grow into. I've also considered buying out of state but I'm not sure tax-wise how that works.

Although 3 Phoenix dealers made last-minute attempts to beat the deal I had worked in Tucson, they were all about $500 (and 130 miles) out of the race. Nobody offered me more than $30k for my '05 MDX and nobody offered better than $1k over invoice. I could have bought the EX-L Nav/RES for close to invoice at any of five dealers, but we wanted it fully loaded. Anyway, I bought the van from Chapman Honda of Tucson (formerly Beaudry Honda). Here's the final deal:

    $36,647.00 + 299.00 Doc Fee + free splashguards, wheel Locks, cargo tray = $36, 946 +TTL.

We were offered $1500 for 7 year extended warranty on our 06 Odyssey EXL Nav/Res. Is it worth buying? :confuse:
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
The quoted price sounds too high. Check the separate thread on extended warranties to get an idea of available prices.

When I bought my Touring R&N my salesman (from whom I have purchased a number of vehicles) said that while he ordinarily doesn't recommend an extended warranty, I might want to consider the fact that the price for just the in-dash navigation system itself was $4800!

I have yet to buy an extended warranty because I typically don't keep cars very long but will do so if I still have it when it is approaching the end of the manufacturer's warranty.
  • allygallyg Member Posts: 18
Oh great. I didn't know there is one thread for that. Thank you. I will go there and check.

You are right, Nav is what worries me too.

I'm giving up my Nissan Quest and moving over. Today was quoted online price for 2006 EXL 29,758 and the EX at 27,602

Is there really that big a difference between the two models? is one harder to find than the other one? I'm assuming leather seats are the main difference?
I'm happy about looking on the internet for pricing and am willing to drive pretty far to get a good deal on one, since i only buy a car once every 15 yrs or so. the problem is i've been looking so long my eyes have crossed and i can't tell what's good/great/take it and run. I stopped looking for an 05 cause it doesn't seem like any are left??? websites? dealers who seem reasonable? Thanks!

The EX-L (I have an '06) comes with the VCM engine. When cruising that engine turns off three of the six cylinders for a little better gas mileage. I live in the Dallas area and drive about 52 miles round trip to work. Most of the driving is on the interstate with some city mixed in. I am averaging, so far with 1,200 miles, about 22 mpg. I think there are a couple of other items standard on the EX-L that the EX does not have. Go to Honda's web site where you will see a side by side comparison of the features of all four models.

Thanks to folks replied to my previous post. That time I decided to wait another month or so. Recently I got quote from one of dealers in my area, saying 33,100+tax+ttl+ license for EX-L RES/NAV. I am thinking this is not bad price.
    Any comment will be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Hi, Thanks for the info. I got a good deal 250$ under invoice and got the car with the colour we wanted on the same day (deal done in 2 hours in total) from Hugh White Honda. Great experience, they even got me finance 5.29% with no fee, penalty....

Thanks to all on this forum. helped me to find our dream car at a decent price.

I just got my 2006 Odyssey EX-L RES 3 weeks ago at Libertyville with a very helpful guy and manager with NO Hassle since I've been dealing with them for almost a year. Gave me a good price of $33,000 out the door with 6.5% tax included for my county and got it the same day- slate green fresh from the delivery truck with 6 miles on it. Wife and kids love it especially the RES.
  • robville62robville62 Member Posts: 3
That's a better price than what I paid for. Got it for 30,861 plus tax (6.5%) Total of even $33K. Just had it for 3 weeks.

This is an Internet Deal from Open Road Honda in Edison, NJ on Route 1.

So is thais a deal we can go ahead. I am still thinking there shoud be something better?
  • clark4clark4 Member Posts: 9
I would be very concerned about this quote. I went online to try it and the quote came back $29,147 PLUS dest. Thus you are essentially at invoice. Plus, there are too many qualifiers in the fine print. I am sure they are a good dealer but I would be wary of bait and switch.

I have been looking for three months for the car in the Northeast and it seems with this model, $500-750 over invoice w/ dest is a good deal.

The final out of door price we paid was 31570/- EXL with RES

My husband and I have been looking at the Odyssey Touring R&N and had a very BAD expereince with Leesburg Honda. A few people have warned us to avoid them however we were very impressed with the sales man (who was not at all pushy). We went a total of 3 times to talk to him before we even got serious. On our 3rd visit, he sprung it on us that he happened to have IN STOCK the color we were interested in and we were pretty much pressured into signing a contract that day - even though the car wouldn't be ready for another 3 days. We had no time to negotiate a trade in and they told us if we didn't sign that day, they would trade it with another dealership to get a different color for a different client. Well, turns out, the next day we felt totally ripped off and pressured. I decided to get quotes from OUTSIDE the DC area and was able to get quotes from HAGERSTOWN Honda, POHANKA Honda in Marlo Heights and ODONNELL Honda in Ellicot City for at least $2k BELOW the LEESBURG quote. POHANKA Honda was a good $2600 less!
Needless to say, with their poor customer service at LEESBURG Honda, they refused to let us out of the deal....unless we give them $1k. EVEN after all their bragging on how they could get full price from anyone who comes in and that they'd have NO problem selling it. We never even DROVE the car b/c the day we were there the wiring hadn't been done yet. It wasn't drivable. It was never taken off the lot and we never brought them our payment. They were ruthless. We ended up paying the $1k simply b/c we still will be saving over $1500k to get it elsewhere.
BOTTOM LINE is this...in the DC area you MUST be willing to go a good 40-50 miles outside the area to get a deal on an Odyssey. And by all means, if they tell you the deal is only good THAT DAY and will not give you the opportunity to bring in a trade in....leave that dealership immediately!

    picabo,
I am sorry to learn about your experience. If you ended up paying that $1000 for nothing, I would take it to Better Business Bureau and try and recover it. There are some bad dealers out there. They should not get a free pass on practices like this. Heck, I would even take it to Press.

I live outside Washington, DC in Northern Virginia. A little over a week ago, my wife and I started our search for a 2006 Honda Odyssey Touring RES&NAV (R&N) in her preferred color choices. Little did I know that this particular trim line, much less the color, was very difficult to obtain.

After a stressful week of obtaining quotes from over 40 dealers in PA, MD, VA, and NC (and even one in MA based on an earlier posting here) and trying to find one of my wife's top two color choices (Nighthawk Black Pearl and Midnight Blue Pearl), I was about to give up until I received a quote from Faulkner Honda (Harrisburg, PA) yesterday. Their no-haggle price was the lowest at $222 over invoice and this morning, I was told they had the Touring R&N in Nighthawk Black Pearl, even though I did not tell them that was my preferred color. Although my wife and I were little worried about driving two hours with our two 3 year old daughters only to find the vehicle night not be there, we were thankfully proven wrong. Now I am home with a very, very happy spouse and her 2006 Odyssey Touring R&N.

My take home price was $35,120 + $550 (Destination Charge) + $45 (Doc Fee) + TTL. We were in and out in less than 90 minutes, and it would have been less except we had to wait for our salesperson to finish up with another customer and they had to correct the original purchase order, which incorrectly had a price of $33,120 ($2,000 under quote), which I caught and honestly informed them of. The icing on the cake was they had no problem matching the best Honda Care extended warranty quote I found online (thanks to reader suggestions on this board) from Bernardi Honda.

As many of the readers on this board were, I was disgusted at the quotes for most of the Washington, DC area dealers, which ranged from MSRP ($38,795) down to maybe $1,000 less. Surprisingly, most of the best quotes came from the Philadelphia area dealers, all less than $1000 over invoice, and they were all very professional, unlike a some of the DC area dealers. The quotes from the NC dealers were not as low as some readers stated on the board earlier.

So besides Faulkner Honda, which provided one of the best car buying experiences I ever had, I give kudos to the following dealers for both relatively low quotes and professionalism: Heritage Honda of Westminster (MD), Ourisman Honda of Laurel (MD), Piazza Honda Philadelphia (PA), Main Line Honda (PA). My worst experiences were with Ourisman Honda of Bethesda (MD), Landmark Honda (VA), First Team Honda (VA), and Criswell Honda (MD). I will not even mention the 10+ dealers who never provided quotes.

    Happy shopping!

Finally I pulled the trigger. EX-L with NAV+RES, I agreed to purchase at $32,600+tax,ttl (Ocean Mist). This is about ~$900 over invoice price. I think this is not the best price I saw here but not bad one.(trying to believe this is good price!) This will be the biggest birthday present for my wife so far..
    I live in Minnesota..
Certainly I got many useful info from here.. THANKS!

I am negotiating an odyssey EX-L w/ Res in Los Angeles. The dealer price is to be 29,796. He told me that they just got new money factors on 11/2. now it's .00265 w deposit and .00275 w/o. Is this correct?
    Thanks

I got an EXL-RES at Honda North last weekend for $200 UNDER invoice plus a $200 document fee (I refused to pay any doc. fee so they dropped the price to $200 under invoice - I had been willing to pay invoice w/no doc. fee). You can get a similar deal at Kelly Honda on the Lynnway too.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate you sharing your Boston area experience. I will contact those dealers and see if I can do as well as you. I just read some of your earlier posts so I have a better sense of how it unfolded. I am glad you may have profited from the dreary weather we had late last month.

Did you buy an extended warranty?
    Any accessories?

I probably can't ask you more but I want to thank you very much! I hope it goes well and not have it be a hassle.

We purchased a 2006 EX-L (no RES- did not want it)in September through Costco at Downtown Honda in Spokane, WA for $31,300 including mud flaps and destination.
  • fljoslinfljoslin Member Posts: 237
The EX-L has the variable cylinder management, moonroof, heated seats, and possibly some other differences from the EX. I wanted the leather, the moonroof and the variable cylinder management so the EX-L was a very good package choice.

Could you please email please. I have my email public.

    Hi isellhondas,

Comparing is a very normal experience for most people. Houses, stocks... any asset that can be purchased generates a certain amount of curiosity about how much (or little) we have paid. Plus, sharing this information allows future buyers to be better prepared to purchase at a fair market rate.

Hopefully someone (not a seller) will let me know I purchased at a favorable/fair/unfair cost. I would feel uncomfortable if I found I had paid more than many others for the same vehicle. Either way, curiosity drives the question. Either way, I know I will enjoy the vehicle. so........ Anyone?

    Hello,

Check out http://www.hondawarrantyinfo.com (Bernardi Honda in MA) for great deals on EWs. This site has been mentioned on the forum by others; I just called them today to ensure everything was legit. I will be faxing my warranty application to them tomorrow for the 8 yr/120,000 mile EW--$0 deductible for $1281.00 on a 2006 Odyssey EXL-RES. I ran this price by my dealer today while we were finishing up some paperwork and they said they could not touch that price and to buy it because it was a great deal. I even asked Bernardi how the price was so low and they said they do volume pricing on their Honda Care warranties. Hope this helps.

First off, I want to thank everyone for posting here because I truly felt confident and at ease when I began our purchasing experience.
I was initially a bit worried because there aren't very many honda dealers in Omaha but still managed to find a good deal.
I emailed Honda Cars of Bellevue & Superior Honda to get a quote on a 2006 Touring R&N. ($39,345 Sticker)
Superior honda responded promptly with $37,148.
Honda cars of Bellevue responded promptly with $36,580.

I contacted both to set up an appt. to review my trade in (1997 Dodge Grand Caravan that wasn't in very good condition)
I first went to Bellevue with my handy edmunds Invoice price printout, a KBB printout for the value of my trade ($2100), & a quote from Bernardi for the 8yr./120k/0 deductible warranty ($1,281).
They first came back with a KBB printout from the Internet that showed $1,100 for our trade. I told them that it seemed a little odd because I have the same printout that shows $2100. :surprise: They of course quickly realized they neglected to add the options on the web page (hate it when that happens) and quickly matched the $2100.
I had explained to them that I was going to purchase from whomever gives me the best total deal so they wanted to know what they could do to win our business that night. We told them that if they gave us $3000 for the trade and the internet price we'd do the deal and forgo our trip to Superior and they agreed. They also agreed to match our extended warranty quote.

    Numbers:
    Touring R&N: $36,580
    Wheel Locks: $64
    Trade in Allowance: -$3,000
    Difference: $33,644

    Warranty: $1,281
    Doc Fee: $32
    Recording Fee: $17

    Total (OTD)*: $34,974

*Taxes are paid when you get your plates in NE

I do want to mention one thing about the PAX tires. They were very appealing to me because this is my wife's primary vehicle but, I also saw many posts that made me nervous so I researched them quite a bit. I called the PAX hotline and found that all the Honda dealers in my area carry them and for the first 2 years (or 50% tread life) they will just swap the tire out for free. (I'll admit this is a little weird). To me this isn't much different then me driving to the tire shop and waiting on them to fix the flat.
However, I was a little more worried about cost to replace them when they wear out so I called a couple Honda dealers and they're approximately $180 per tire (I forget the exact amount) to replace them outright. This would make it about $200 more than us swapping out 4 normal high end tires so I can live with that. I ultimately felt the benefit outweighed the risks.

Sorry for the long post but I've been reading (& learning) out here for the last 2 months and wanted to share my results. Thanks to everyone who posted!!

BTW, we absolutely LOVE our new van. Honda made a wonderful automobile.
