Also, my best friend and my dad are both locksmiths. So I know a thing or two about locks.
My example shows that it is in fact possible that the key is the culprit.
And one of my best friends is a heart surgeon so I guess by your association, I could give advice on heart surgery.
And I was just trying to help, sorry for trying to be nice.
On the plus side, with my Cherokee in 4WD, I didn't slip at all. I was shocked and horrified to see a Toyota Sienna minivan slide off the road. It was sitting stationary, and, when he was finally able to inch forward, the van just slid onto the shoulder.
Dinu1, you will laugh at this, 143 wrecks this afternoon in Winston-Salem and only 2cm of snow. Nothing is moving. Streets are empty.
I'm posting some pics on the other board showing details of the new car. Meade, thanks for using my hot blue P5 pic.

And many happy returns!!

Well there were a lot of crashes when we got hit the first time a few weeks go. If you remember I posted about a guy in a BMW that almost did a 180 in front of me.
But just 2cms? As Meade would say "Sheesh!".
Well Happy B-Day and all my best wishes!

Deicers are applied before snowfall to prevent snow and ice from bonding to the road surface. It is easier to prevent a bond from forming than to break a bond. When applied before snowfall deicers will require lower application rates than if used to deice afterwards.
N orth Carolina has two areas where cities are very close to each other, the RTP and the Triad in the Western part of the state. Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point make up the Triad. RTP is Raleigh-Durham and NC's version of Silicone Valley.
If you had a 4X4 tonight one could drive anywhere and not see another vehicle on the road -- it is SO quiet out there.
Not a good time to buy a Protegé.

alternator! Don't get serious! LOL!

What mileage #'s are people seeing for 2002 Pro ES with 5 speed? I do a 50/50 mix and I see about 23. It seems low to me.
Thoughts?
I was lurking in the 6 discussion and became aware that yesterday was Jim's birthday.
But you can bet it's on my calendar now!
Oh, yeah....um....boy, am I glad my Protege has started every day since the weather has gotten so cold.

well, we all touch down there to switch planes too.
Thanks for the responses. Any ideas? worth talking to the dealer?
I think all of us are lurking and posting on the Mazda6 board. If not min the market for one of those beauties, it at least gives us some idea of what they next Pro might be like. And pictures of the next Miata and RX-8 are also goood ideas of future styling for the Pro. Will it be a baby 6 or a four door Miata scaled up? Time will tell.

Mark.
I got my car back from the body shop. Looks nice. I noticed they had to "adjust" the radiator support. That seems strange because I barely hit the deer and there was no bumper cover or bumper damage. I guess it doesn't take much, these cars are designed to crumple. I'm glad to have it back though. The engine is so smooth compared to the 2.0L non-zetec in the Focus. No wonder Ford wants Mazda designing the small 4 cylinder engines. OK, time to go put the winter tires on before it gets any colder tonight. It's 20 degrees and dropping.
The hood latches to the radiator support so when the deer landed on the hood, it probably pushed it down a little...no biggie.
Well, my dang rear wheels won't come off. I sprayed some WD40 into the little space between the wheel and the hub and I'm going to wait. I tried punching the tires (I don't have a rubber mallet) but I'm affraid I might damage suspension components if I keep doing it. Any ideas?
Anybody chatting tonight? I will after TAKEN. Cool sci-fi epic.
fowler3 loves UFOs since he saw two of them in 1952 in the sky. No lights, just the objects. Clear blue sky, no clouds, no weather balloons, no aircraft. Extremely fast! The reason people buy silver cars is because silver is the color of machines, and that may explain why UFOs are silver. They aren't illusions and halucinations which can be any color.

How many miles on the car? Mine has 23,000, so it is well broken in which improves fuel efficiency a small bit. Are you in California? Cali-gas is good for a few fewer miles per gallon. You know how Cali likes to the lead the way on such things. ;-)
Should be pretty soon actually.
I noticed in the Photos section "over there" that you have a band of blue sun tinting along the top of your windshield. That's the first Protege I've ever seen with a tinted windshield. Is that a stock windshield or did you add the tinting yourself?
(Again, apologies if this was discussed over a weekend sometime -- often I don't go back and wade through everything that happened since I left Friday afternoon.)
Meade
Keep up!
How did you fare in the snow yesterday?

P.S. Larry, did they open a Cracker Barrel in Vatican City?
I had the windshield replaced in the 99 DX, and it was the same without the band at the top. Also, dealerships don't replace windshields anyway, I was told they send their glass work out. So there's really no such thing as an OEM replacement windshield, I would assume from that statement.
Yes, the repair was done at the dealership, but it was done by an outside contractor...Gary the Glass Guy or somebody came in to do the replacement.
And I wish Gary had done a better job--let's just say I don't need to roll down my windows to get fresh air.
