If the '06 build is over, the '07s should be hitting the ground very shortly as I don't believe the Lincoln plant goes down for any extended period. This might also (partly) explain the tremendous deals of late.

I called a dealer to check their inventory of EX-L w/DVD/NAV, they do have one right now and have a few coming next week. The sales double checked those incomings are not 07s (it appears they are coming soon). But the quote I got from him is 32xxx (before TTL), much higher than other people in the forum had got. He said he could only budge for $100 or so.

The price you got is pretty good.
About a buck or two over triple net.....

    Go for it

According to the Honda Manufacturing of Alabama website, 2006 Honda Odyssey production began on August 8, 2005.

Could we assume 2007 would begin in early August 2006 as well? Given the body style should be identical, the plant's retool should be minimal as well.

    Got a quote from Lundgren Honda in Auburn/Worcester, Mass of 25960 + TT+L + 129 Doc Fee.

This is for any EX in stock(5) and they would try ot get one . Deal has to be done by end of June.

Think this is a pretty good deal?

I am looking for a EXL - R&N in the SF bay area.

If anyone has got it in the bay area recently, can you please post the dealership and the price you paid.

I paid OTD $28,000 for Honda Odyssey EX new 2006, went to ArrowHead Honda dealership. They are very polite and good in answering my questions.
On the same day, I went camelback Honda the sales agent was not ready even to listen to us.

    The calculation was
    + $25552 invoice
    - $500 rebate
    + $650 destination
+ 11.17% for TTL+ TAX (Sales tax in arizona is 8.1%)
    -------
it came to $28,000 plus, we offer $28,000 after 15 minutes of Negotiations they accepted the offer.

Just agreed to purchase a 2006 EXL (3 miles) for a price of $26,700. OTD price of $28,840 (7.25% tax +ttl).

Could've gotten slightly lower but decided to go with this particular dealership because of their stellar reputation.

    hi all,
is $5000 under msrp for touring, nav, res a good deal?
    i'm in southern california.

    thank you.
  • s65s65 Member Posts: 54
Dealers true cost for ODY Touring RES/NAVI is
    $33,750
    add your state sales tax
    add about $500 for DOC/MV/Plates

and that is what you should offer him OTD.
Make sure he understands you will pay for no other fees/add ons etc.

One question though, are you sure you want a touring with all the problems people are having with the run-flat tires?

Click on the below link to read about the headaches people have with these tires, then decide if it is worth it to get the touring.... if not consider the EX-L RES/NAV

  • oceanexprtoceanexprt Member Posts: 16
hi there, when you say "500 for DOC/MV/Plates". is that the destination fees? or does the 33750 include destination fees?

    thank you.

i'm in cali so i figure tax and dmv will add on approx. ten percent to the cost of the car.

Does anyone know if American Honda Finance does any Multiple Security Deposits on a lease? I would like to save some $$ if they have such a program.

    Thanks
    Robert
  • s65s65 Member Posts: 54
    the $33,750 includes destination.

I figured Plates were about $300 and Doc about $200.

But if you want ask the dealer what he charges for them first. Then add that amount to the 33,750 + Tax

Also what is your local sales tax on cars?
  • chirpchirp Member Posts: 194
My purchase of $33,947 for the Touring with NAV/RES INCLUDED the Destination charge of $550, so you should shoot for that or better. To this number you must add tax, title and licensing(TTL). If the PAX system bothers you don't buy a Touring. Personally, I have no issue with it and there are just too many differences between a EX-L and a Touring for me. I want the best the Odyssey has to offer and bought it. If you want the Touring and can get this kind of deal I say "buy it" unless you are prone to flat tires. The PAX has a 2-year replacement warranty for any puncture. :) Good luck to you!

If you have leased before you don't have to leave
a sec. dep. 2nd time around.

I'm not sure what you mean by multiple sec dep though.

roger that, tax is 3%...I like the deal as well...the wife is out test driving a Sienna right now. I like Honda she likes toyota, we'll fight it out tonight. Thanks for the input

Some leasing companies have programs whereby they will apply a lower money factor (MF) to leases by customers who are willing to make multiple security deposits (MSDs). For example, if the lease calls for a security deposit of $500, they might offer a lower MF for the customer who makes 5 security deposits ($2,500), and an even lower MF for the customers who makes 10 security deposits. It may or may not be worthwhile. You'd have to see how much you'd save in lower monthly payments and compare that to the interest you would have otherwise earned by keeping the money in the bank instead of using it for MSDs. The money is not at risk, which makes MSDs a safe way to reduce your monthly payment (as opposed to making a down payment). Anyway, very few leasing companies have MSD programs and I do not believe that AHFC is one of them.

Can someone give me the invoice price of this model since i cannot get it from edmunds. And if anyone has purchased this model in NY,NJ please give me an OTD price.

    Thank you

    Touring RES

    INV = 33,471
    DC= 500
    HB= 1114

    Look to pay
    31,857 +
    1911 (6% tax)+
    500 (Doc/MV/NJ Tire Tax)

$34,268 = Triple Net Deal OTD

Start your offer at $34,000 OTD

I just checked inventory at two dealerships and neither list Touring RES
    only Touring or Touring RES/NAV
They may not make the RES by itself anymore on the touring.
  • mss1144mss1144 Member Posts: 17
How do I get the Invoice price? Edmunds doesnt have it with res and the dealer has negotiated based on edmunds invoice.

It appears that the Touring model comes standard with the DVD player (aka RES)...

Hi everyone. I'm in Central Ohio and have been looking for a 2006 Ex-L for the entire month of June. Prices in area range from 27,500-29,495 +TT. Have e-mailed dealerships in NE/SW Ohio, Chicago, Michigan, Pennsylvania, NJ, and Maryland (49 total.) Best quote where dealer will breakout fees is Napleton Honda in Chicago 27,150+ TT. NJ quotes have been interesting: Rt.22 Honda 27,058 w/Dest +TT and Planet Honda 26,800 W/ Dest + TT (1468 under inv.) Was having a good E-mail dialogue until I asked for a breakout of fees--ignored since. Had 3 dealerships who were relentless with their "We will meet or beat any quote" spiel until I gave them the 26,800 quote. Got several speeches about losing money and got one guy so rattled he gave me his "Best" quote, $32 higher than his original quote.
Have bought many new cars over the years and have generally done well. Have never encountered anything like this. Have kept trade out of picture (2000 Odyssey EX 79K miles) to avoid low-ball trade syndrome. Can use any tips or guidance forum members can lend. Those of you getting 1500 under, where are you getting quotes at? Any constructive ideas appreciated. Thanks.

I have contacted seven different dealerships for internet pricing and the best offer I have received is $27,500 for an Ody EXL. Top price was $28,160 and everthing else is in between. One dealer said his offer is firm at $28,100. Seems the market I shop in might not be place where some are getting the triple net price of 26,800-27,000 for an EXL.
  • sw_ohsw_oh Member Posts: 23
I did venture a little far north into Springfield and have not yet received a quote. Did not know if you went that direction or not in terms of SW Ohio. Best Dayton quote I got was $27,663 + Tax/Title and they said they would not go an lower.
  • bks191bks191 Member Posts: 9
I contacted one Dayton dealer (White-Allen) who quoted 27,749. When I did not jump on that, the internet individual inquired why? Told her the price was non-competitive. She lowered to 27,564. Other SW Ohio quotes I received were as follows: Jeff Wyler 27,500, Century 27,850, Superior 28033, and Honda East (Cinci) 28160. All Hope this is some helpwere +TT.

You've sent 49 emails across half of the U.S. and found a price that's $1468 under invoice and you're still not happy? You're holding out for another $32 off, is that right?

Save yourself some trouble and shop the local stores, especially Hugh White and Marysville. Do it in person, not over the internet. I don't know that you'll get your $1500 under invoice but given that you have an older trade, it's best to shop locally anyway.
  • bks191bks191 Member Posts: 9
I have shopped locally. I doubt many of the people on this forum would invest the time that they do on this forum if their local dealer were responsive to their needs.
If my local dealer would deal, that would be great--but they won't. I do not see the value in paying anywhere from 700-2695 more for a vehicle just to buy a vehicle locally. Seeing what the lowest price available is for a vehicle is not a crime, I see it as being financially prudent. If someone wants my business they need to earn it by dealing straight up and, providing solid service and value. They also need to understand that the process is a two way street. There have been many times that I have walked away from the best deal and paid a higher price because I felt that the integrity of a dealership and the character of a salesperson was more important than price. If shopping in person is the desired way to go,how come you are on the internet? You sound like a salesperson to me.

    Jim,

It was Crystal Lake Honda. I picked up the car last night - truth be told it was a bit of a pain in the [non-permissible content removed].

I had negotiated the price over the phone and gave all of my information and requested that all forms be filled out before i got there (this was about noon and I was planning on going in at 8:00pm).

I got to the dealership at 8pm, checked out the car, test drove it and by that time it was about 8:30pm. At this point, we went into the salesperson's office and pulled out the faxed form (which I had filled out with an agreed OTD price) and I signed it. Thought we were done.

However, I ended up waiting about an hour and thirty minutes for the business manager to hammer on a young couple to buy an extended warranty. Since it was late at night, they didn't have multiple resources to close the deal (at least that's what they told me).

So by 9:00pm, I told the manager (he said he was owner, not sure) that if we didn't complete by 9:15pm, I would be leaving disgruntled. He said there was little he could do.

9:15 rolls around, the business manager is still working on the young couple (not sure if they ever purchased), so I take the manual and keys to the car (which the salesman gave to me already) and leave it on his desk and go for a walk across the street to grab a bite to eat. I ate there for about 20 minutes. While I'm enjoying my delectable hamburger, I get a voicemail on my phone with an apology and promise that if we still wanted the car, they'd be more than happy to drive it to my office (downtown chicago) and bring the paperwork as well (I assume they thought we left).

Well, I stroll back into the dealership after the burger and the owner looks shocked. "I thought you left!" He proceeds to tell me the salesperson went home and that they left the voicemail. I tell him I went to grab a bite to eat and that we should close the deal.

Well I can tell you I've never seen anyone move so fast at that point. The business manager prints the forms in literally 45 seconds tells me to sign at the appropriate points (After I've read thoroughly of course). Out the door 5 minutes after I've returned.

I think the prospect of losing a cash deal with agreed upon pricing lit a small fire under their respective butts.

Without the wait, positive experience - not sure if it was intentional but certainly left a bad taste in my mouth - hope the dealership had a little bit of a scare (if I go down, I'm taking them down with me)...

Here are the email internet quotes I have received this week from the Cincinnati Honda Dealerships: Honda East - $28,160. Century Honda -$28,100 and will not go any lower. Jeff Wyler - $27,500. Superior Honda -$28,105. Performance Honda said they would go with "invoice including destination." They never gave me a numerical price.

The Dayton are Honda Dealerships quotes were White Allen - $27,663 and would not go any lower. Hidy Honda-$27,768. Voss Honda - $27,768. Now some of the dealerships said to come back with my best offer and they will try and beat it. But triple net price that some are getting around the country does not seem attainable in this area. Hope this helps on this end.
  • s65s65 Member Posts: 54
I'm sure you could beat that at planet, Especially on a touring. Call them and see, you can get the number from Honda.com
  • dc_driverdc_driver Member Posts: 712
I think cccompson was simply pointing out that if you are getting quoted $1400 under invoice, it does not get much better than that :) Factor in the fact that it is getting close to the end of the month and you may be limiting which color options you can get unless your dealer has a ton of stock.

That said, the trade-in does add a huge dimension to the deal. Some dealers were completely inflexible with my trade-in and the Honda dealer that I bought from gave me considerably more ($500-750) than other dealers were willing to offer (full KBB value) even with an accident which showed up in Carfax and some minor dings, and the check engine light on...
  • jquackenbushjquackenbush Member Posts: 3
Thank you very much for your quick response. That is a very good price. I've been having trouble getting local (Minneapolis Area) dealers to compete with the Chicago Area Dealer prices. The lowest I’ve been able to get is $28,800 which is a joke considering your price is $2100 lower. I have purchased cars from Chicago before with very good success. It is a nice flight down and only a 300 mile drive back, beautiful this time of year. I’ll give Brilliance Honda a call and see what they are willing to do for me.
  • sw_ohsw_oh Member Posts: 23
Hey bks191: Please post if you get a price quote from Performance Honda. I spoke with them today and did not get a price. They want me to come in when I get all of my quotes together. Just curious if you received any type of price quote out of them. Supposedly, the are the #1 volume leader in the Cincinnati/Dayton area.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
LOL, I'm hardly a salesperson though I too live in Central Ohio.

I suggested an in-person visit for two reasons. First, some stores, Hugh White in particular, do not push internet sales. In fact, I know from personal experience (detailed below) that you can do (much) better in person there than with their web guy.

Second, getting quotes from 7 hours away when you have a trade opens the door to a serious potential problem. Ok, so you cut a good deal in Chicago and then drive there. Unless you're willing to NOT trade, they've got you over a barrel at that point and they know it. Given Ohio's sales tax credit on a new car purchase (which is applicable on an out of state transaction), you're talking maybe $1000 in your pocket with Franklin County's 6.75% sales tax rate.

At New Year's 2005 my sister and I separately bought new Pilots from Hugh White. I used a salesman with whom I'd previously dealt and she used the internet guy from whom she'd bought an '03 Pilot. We closed our deals within an hour of each other. She paid $1000 more than I did! Now, that didn't sit well with either of us and eventually they did an adjustment for her that narrowed the difference to about $500.

Roush and Immke simply won't deal in my experience. I'm not sure about Honda East. They were quite competitive for a long time and then things changed drastically a couple of years ago. I've heard they're now trying to get business back but you'd have to see for yourself (or perhaps already have).

All I can say is that when I bought my '05 Touring R&N in 2/05, I dealt with the owner at Marysville (they had just then opened the store and were anxious for business) but he wouldn't or couldn't beat Hugh White where I bought it for invoice (with about $400 worth of accessories thrown in) at a time when such a price was virtually unheard of anywhere.

When you call Brilliance Honda of Crystal Lake in Crystal Lake. Illinois, I recommend that you ask to speak to the Dealer Trade Manager. The manager will forward your call to the person who provides the best deal on internet sales. Also, Brilliance Honda is accommodating to out-of-state customers, so inform them early in the negotiation process that you reside in Minnesota.
  • hasmanhasman Member Posts: 9
I have e-mailed Brilliance Honda twice for a quote, once through their site and once through the Honda site but no reply and I live about 2 hours away and have a trade-in so dont know if its worth the drive. Does anyone know how are they in trade-ins. If you look at their site they have a link to NADA GUIDE, and NADA shows a better value for my Acura compared the Kelly Blue Book. So does that mean they look at NADA for reference, if yes then it will definately be worth the drive for me specially since everyone has nothing but good to say about them here in the forum. Has anyone traded-in a car there who could give me an idea.

I'm looking for a Touring with dvd and possibly navi as well, in So. Cal.

Can anyone tell me what the money factor should be for an '06 Touring?
Also, how many miles/yr. is standard on a 36 mo. lease?
    Anything else I should know??
This will be my first lease - a bit worried about the whole process!
