I'm about to buy a new 2007 Ody EX. Is it worth getting the fab protection done at dealer or can you do it yourself buying Scotchguard at retail stores ? My dealer is asking for 500 to do interior and exterior protection ? This is the "touch of class" protection.

I bought a 2007 Odyssey EXL a week ago, and then within a week, it started showing the Check Engin and VSA malfunctioning lamps together. And with those lamps on, the cruise control didn't work, ECO (VCM) didn't work, and most importantly, on a uphill road, the car sometimes rattled severely, not driving appropriately (I got that twice in a day, and was freaked out).

I brought the car to the dealer and they figured they have to order a part called "v-tech oil pressure solenoid"...

My questions are 1) how can I make sure this issue has not damaged my car at all? 2) can this be considered as a lemon so that I can get protected by a lemon law?? What's the range of the lemon law?

Did anyone have a similar experience? Suggestion?

    Thanks.

Whether you apply the Scotchguard yourself or have the dealer do it for 50 times the cost should be an easy call for anyone except, perhaps, Bill Gates.

    Here's a quote I received for a 2007 Odyssey EX-L RES in Charlotte, NC.

It includes cross bars and wheel locks, plus the dealer is installing an “aftermarket” hitch (same as Honda hitch without the engine coolant modification).

Out-the door price is $31,000, broken out roughly as follows:
    - Car price: $30,030
    - Sales tax (3%): $901
    - Registration/tag: $69

It seems to be a pretty good price given that the $750 incentive is gone. Any thoughts or advice?

Sounds like a good price to me. I just received a similar quote today in Cincinnati, OH for a 2007 Odyssey EXL-RES. This one did NOT have cross bars, wheel locks, or hitch, just the standard RES:
    ~ Car price $30,000
    ~ Sales tax $1950 (6.5%)
    ~ Registration/Tag $75

I wish our taxes were lower!! They're running a clearance event here with special financing. Not sure if it's nation wide. Hope this helps!

They are running the 2.9 (36 mos) and 4.9 (60 mos) nationally.

Where will I pay the taxes and I hope it's not both states. Found a good deal in CA (can fly for free). But I am unsure of the tax issue. Any help would be appreciated. :confuse:

Have a similar question. Seems like the deals are better in Chicago than here in Mid-Michigan. How do the taxes work out? :confuse:

I just bought a EX-l wRES for 28,499 which included dest. charge in mid-Missouri. Go to carbuyingtips.com and you can download a spreadsheet that will help figure out the total coast to dealer. It gave me a negotiated selling price at 28,244 plus dest charge. And that included a 3% Fair Profit over dealers costs. I was very pleased with the website. Check it out! The total coast to dealer is around 27,500 to 28,000 for the car.

hi, before I go negotiate - I want a 2007 LX (cheapest most stripped down model) - was going to go to VIP Honda in North Plainfield NJ - anyone have thoughts on good price? on this dealership?

    Thanks.

Could you please name the dealership and town? Did you have to haggle to get this price? Did you use the internet to get quotes first? We live in SE Iowa and was considering Chicago area. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing your info. Very helpful.

So, how's your experience since they replaced the part?
Has the car fully got fixed?

The dealer is Albert Honda in Columbia, MO. I had them contact me after using Edmunds online dealer quote. I had a dealer in Jeff. City, quote me at 28.5 and then Albert Honda called and said they would beat it. A dollar isnt bad. I had no problem getting them to settle on the price...in fact, I didnt even have the quote in writing from the other dealer. It took them 3 weeks to locate the trim and specs that I wanted, which was way too long. No one else in KC or St. louis would touch it. (the price) I wasnt happy with how they strung me out with trying to find the car. But the price was too good to pass up. So I pressed them and they finally got it in last Friday. Also, they agreed to this price while the 750 Honda to dealer incentive was still going on, but I didnt sign the papers until last week. So, I think that is why they took so long. (Trying to make me pull out) If you need more info email me at baumer68@hotmail.com I do have the Buyers Order and the other paper work. I think they only have two EX-L wRes on site.

They gave me a quote of 500 below invoice for EX-L w/RES and NAV when I called them. But I'm still waiting for a better price.

I am in Mass...also looking for EX-L w/ RES and NAV. Just getting started on search and was wondering what invoice is on this van. Thanks

Currently have an '05 EXL Navi/RES. I'm looking to possibly purchase an '07 if I can get a good deal, or maybe an '08 if updates look worth it. So far the best deal I've gotten by phone for an '07 is $32,400 + tax, title, etc. Not good enough from what I've gathered here. Anybody here got a good deal somewhere in Alabama or close by?
  • atl_sudatl_sud Member Posts: 1
According to Edmunds it is 31,592.
  • cltbuyercltbuyer Member Posts: 1
Could you please let me know which dealer you got this quote from? I am looking for buying this exact van? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.
  • cj31cj31 Member Posts: 21
Typically you pay the tax to your state of residence(at your states rate), not where you buy it. That's the way it is in VA anyway.
  • jljljljl Member Posts: 2
Can you please let me know where you got the $25,565 price quote on the EX? Thanks. Anybody seeing anything better on the EX cloth seat?
  • jljljljl Member Posts: 2
The spreadsheet is embedded in one of the "chapters." Here is the link -- go part way down the page and you will see a blank as well as example spreadsheet.

I am looking to purchase a 2007 Honda Odyssey w/RES. I used the carsdirect.com price as my starting point and asked dealers to beat. All negotiation was over the phone and very easy.

Has anyone found better deals than this:

All prices include Cargo Tray, Wheel Locks, Door Trim, Mud Guards
    Honda of Escondido:
    30,495 + tax,license, fees
    33,315.68 OTD
    Honda of Mission Valley
    30,780 + tax,license, fees
    33,472.71 OTD
    Poway Honda
    30,480 + tax,license, fees
    33,332.24 OTD

I would be willing to drive to LA Area for better deals. Any advice would be recommended.

Got a quote of 700 below invoice for EX-L w/RES, NAV(31,592 according to KBB excluding destination) from one more dealer in NJ. Good Luck

Does anybody know how long the recently expired(7/5 to be exact) $750 dealer incentive was valid for ? Is there any chance that it might come back on Aug 1 for 2007 models ? Or perhaps after Labor Day(9/4) or as a last chance when 08s come out (around 9/15 ish) ? I was hoping that Honda brings it back. Does anybody remember if there was such a dealer incentive last year between Jun and September, is there a pattern ?

I have been checking several quite a few dealers' inventories and they have a lot of 07 Odyssey on their lots. Looks like sales are not that hot especially after Jul 5th. I am thinking either they sweeten the deal on 07s anytime between now and right after Labor Day or it makes more sense to just go for a 08.

    What do others think ?

I shopped around and I went with Bob Howard internet dept. They emailed back which tied for the lowest.
    MSRP $35,490
    Invoice $32,187
OTD w/o TTL $31,200 with the 2.9% rate.
I got a couple of offers very close and matching this offer in Dallas. I think the dealers are selling very near dealer cost to make room (there were over 40 odysseys but only 2 w/ nav&res). I hope this helps. Happy Shopping

I know it is in NJ, but I'm OKC. I just got $31200 OTD w/o TTL. That is about $1000 below

Open Road Honda in Rt 1, edison will give online quotes electronically on their website. Their price is pretty competitive but be sure to ask if the price includes destination fees.

Anyone know what the Odyssey incentives would be for August? I'm assuming they would have a decent one considering the 08's are coming out fairly soon?
  • annadallasannadallas Member Posts: 10
    Hey,

I am trying to get an EXL in dallas area. Could you tell me where you get the OTD $31200? Could you send the email to annaying@hotmail.com ? Thank you very much!
  • nil22nil22 Member Posts: 20
I am considering buying an 07 Odyssey now (early August) or an 08 in Mid-September. Which one is a better deal ? It is true that there may be good deals now for 07s. Using the edmunds.com used car appraisal tool, an 06 bought in Aug 2006 is worth around $3000-3500 less now compared to an 07 bought in September 2006. I took EX-L as an example and used different mileage(though this does not really make a difference). For all three categories(Trade In, Private Party, Dealer Retail), 2006 is worth at least $3000 less.

I also read on this forum that people bought 07 Odyssey in September 2006 around invoice value. So, I don't think any dealer will give me a deal sweet enough to be less than $3000 off of invoice for an 07 model now. So, buying an 08 in mid Sept for invoice price is more looking like a better deal.

What do you think ? Is my reasoning flawed ?
  • cj31cj31 Member Posts: 21
You're talking about resale, so it depends on when you plan to sell it. The largest difference is of course going to be now, when the '07 is still brand new, and the '06 is over 1 year old. But in 5+ years (probably average time a new car is kept), the difference will be much less. There's not a huge difference to most people between a 5 & 6 year old vehicle. Look at the difference between an '02 & '01. But if you plan to sell in 1-2 years (in which case any new car is a terrible purchase), then that will be more of a factor. All the 05-09 will fall in value when the next generation comes out in 2010 (like the '04's did).

In addition to low APR are there any other incentives coming for August 07 Odyssey buy or leases.
  • boeayaboeaya Member Posts: 14
Most of the dealership only able to offer me invoice at DFW, TX area. I thought they can do better than that. Anybody had a better offer at this point? If you do, could you send me the detail to boeaya at hotmail dot com.

I have an internet quote from Open Road Honda of Edison for $31492 before destination charge.

    Appreciate it.

    thanks

To engel, Try Santa Ana Honda, they should have better deal than this.
  • yoyohongyoyohong Member Posts: 9
Hey try David Mcdavid of Irving. I got a quote for an 07 w/ res and nav for 31333 but I went with an OKC dealer for 31200 otd w/o TTL, You can still use the 2.9%/4.9% with this deal. Ask for rickjones. and ask for the deal he made to john in oklahoma city.

I've decided to purchase a Hond Odyssey EX. Still debating on 2007 or 2008 but would prefer the 2008 because of VCM standard. Based on history, where do you think the pricing of the 2008 will be? Close to Invoice or Retail price, no incentives, etc.? I'm trying to gauge whether its worth waiting for the 2008 EX with VCM as opposed to the 2007. If I wait for the 2008 EX, I do not want to pay significantly more than the 2007's.

    Thanks

    John,

Thank you for the reply. I did try to call their 1-800 number but they let me wait for more than 10 mnts and I can't even get to the guy, can you forward me his email address or your quote email with the detail so I can get in touch with Rick.

to boeaya at hotmail dot com
    Thanks,
  • annadallasannadallas Member Posts: 10
I send email to Rick but another sales(Clare) called me. I have no idea why that happens.
  • boeayaboeaya Member Posts: 14
    Hi Annadallas,
Did the sales quote you the 31333 price?

    Thanks,
  • annadallasannadallas Member Posts: 10
The $31,333 is the base price plus dealer fees, you need to pay the tax, title, etc.
I thought it is OTD price with every fees (include tax, etc) and they said they could not do it.
  • yoyohongyoyohong Member Posts: 9
    yes OTD w/o TTL.
  • yoyohongyoyohong Member Posts: 9
OTD (that includes auto, fee, other dealer add on's) but does not include TTL
  • boeayaboeaya Member Posts: 14
I thought it was include the $595 destination charges.
So we are looking at $31,928 + TT&L..
  • yoyohongyoyohong Member Posts: 9
No, 31333 includes everything but TTL!!! so 31333 include destination.
  • yoyohongyoyohong Member Posts: 9
    hey boeaya,
It you want I can give you Kala at Bob Howard in OKC if you are willing to drive to Oklahoma city (3hrs). He will put together the deal.
$31,200 OTD and you pay TTL (in texas, oklahoma ttl is different) the $31,200 includes all fee, destination, ad fee, or any other fee!!!

Just let me know, but you have to be seriously considering driving to OKC (Kala is a buddy of mine and don't want him to waste time).

    Happy Shopping
