No it is definitely for 2008 (as well as 2007) they are different line items. Of course doesn't mean they got it right. To be clear it is $2500 to the dealer - so they often don't tell consumers that - and then 2.9-4.9% for consumers. But even the financing was not on the Honda website when I checked. Geesh.
  • lstevenslstevens Member Posts: 11
So how does a consumer get this when it isn't even showing on Honda's site?
  • lstevenslstevens Member Posts: 11
I was recently quoted by a dealership that their doc fee is 399.00; however, I think I read on here somewhere that doc fees should be NO MORE than 100 and in some states it can't be more than 59.00. Anyone care to comment on this to help me understand what this is a little better?

BTW, I mentioned the the salesperson that I didn't think doc fees should be more than 100 and he said that was something that could be adjusted to earn my business. Interesting!!!

For a 2008 Odyssey EX-L RES, I was quoted 30,937.45 OTD. Anyone do better? The dealer told me invoice on this van is 31246.00. Does anyone know if this is true or not? I mean, can the dealership be dishonest about the invoice price and how do I know for sure?
  • odyssey7odyssey7 Member Posts: 21
$30937.45 is out the door price?? (including tax) what is you tax rate??
  • lstevenslstevens Member Posts: 11
Yes, 30937.45 is out the door price. Our tax rate is 3%
  • lstevenslstevens Member Posts: 11
My dealer gave me a figure, but I want to be sure. I'm trying to find out the invoice on a 2008 Odyssey EX-L RES van. Can someone tell me how to do this? Thx.
  • egkoregkor Member Posts: 24
You can find invoice prices on edmunds.com.

    Also samsclub.com
  • mercer08mercer08 Member Posts: 24
Does $30,306 (before tax) include any accessories like mud guards, wheel locks, etc? This sounds like a good price for an 2008 EXL RES.
  • mercer08mercer08 Member Posts: 24
    Fixing a typo.....I meant $30,036 (before tax), not $30,306.
  • mjojomjojo Member Posts: 4
Paid $25,865. Negotiated the price before getting financing (5.65% - 60 month) and tradein (which they probably made an extra $100 on my -old- beat up car). Using the email technique works great (still getting offers, but none below $26k)- had to drive about 50 miles, but worth it. Anyone do better?
  • philly95philly95 Member Posts: 8
I am fairly new to these forums. What is the e-mail technique?
  • tbrasse1tbrasse1 Member Posts: 6
I'm in the negotiation phase online, with initial bids still coming in, but looks like $28,600 out the door for an 08 EX-L without NAV or RES. I am in Charlotte, NC and I have emailed dealers as far away as Cary, NC to get bids. If anyone has knowledge of a better deal on an 08 EX-L, please email me so I have some more leverage to push!
    Thanks,
    Tom
PS Doc fee of $499 is just stupid.

    Can you pls breakdown price?
  • roadwarrior7roadwarrior7 Member Posts: 5
I recommend creating a new email account to avoid spam in the future. Then request dealer quotes from edmonds.com (or other websites) on the vehicle you would like.

Your phone number is required but in my case, I specifically stated "no calls" in the additional comments (but some still called). I then corresponded with dealer's internet sales departements via emails.

I had test driven the car before all this.

Most dealers won't give you the bottom line in first email (and some won't at all). Only a couple of them provided me their bottom line price. I went to the dealer with the lowest bid and negotiated $350 below the quoted price.
  • donalduckdonalduck Member Posts: 16
Are you sure that is 08 EXL RES? That sounds like a 07.
  • roadwarrior7roadwarrior7 Member Posts: 5
    Here is my breakdown:

    Deputy Fee: 5.00
    LIcense/Transfer: 103
    State Inspection: 21.75
    Documentary Fee: 50
    Dealers Inventory: 63

    7 year/80k Warranty: 1140

    Hope this helps
  • lstevenslstevens Member Posts: 11
Yes, it is a 2008 Odyssey EXL RES.
  • andersonm1andersonm1 Member Posts: 3
So ... how do we get the 2500 off is it is not in writing anywhere? Does anyone suggest how we can get that additional price off?

    Thanks!
  • andersonm1andersonm1 Member Posts: 3
I am looking into buying a new 07... if I can find anything left..

my father's company basically gets the cars for invoice automatically... plus whatever incentives are out there... so if I can find an EX it should be 24,124 or EX-L 26,293. (with 2500 off) Are these good prices or should I try to negotiate further I am trying to figure out how I should go about this because there is not much out there left, so I can really do the mass e-mail thing.. I have looked online at the area's inventory and there are a lot more EX-L's than anything. What would you suggest???

If I knew for a fact that the 2500 was on 2008 as well, I may consider that, but the dealer I talked to (to get my father's price) said it was only on 2007???
    thanks!

Can you let me know which dealership in PA. Does this price include tax
If you dealt with any salesperson then please let me know.

    Thanks
  • mercer08mercer08 Member Posts: 24
    LStevens,

Does the $30,036 + tax include destination and any accessories? Which state/city are you in? So far the best quote in the greater seattle area is 30,600 which only includes base and destination. Accessories, tax (9.2%), doc fee, and registration are extra.
  • rockythegreatrockythegreat Member Posts: 9
I bought the 2008 Honda Odyssey EXL RES & NAV for $31000 + 6% tax + $85 (tags & registration, no doc fees) Total : $32945 OTD with 2.9% APR for 60 months and dealer did throw in All season mats, cargo mat w/cargo tray/net and splash guards and free first 3 oil changes and free state inspection for life. The dealer also offered me $1200 Hondacare warranty for 7 years bumper to bumper, I have 30 days to cancel that for full refund.

How did I do ? BTW I used the donkeypunch method for almost a week and got this deal.....Thanks donkeypunch

    Color : Ocean Mist Metallic

The dealer is J.L.FREED Honda in Lansdale, PA
  • keenspoonkeenspoon Member Posts: 5
I wish I knew. That is my dilemma as well. I will check it out in next week's issue and see if it still there - or if they change the 2008 claim. In terms of getting it - the $2500 is all in the dealers hands - so they will deny or claim a lower amount almost automatically - so not sure how one ever knows for sure. Other than their offer is particularly low.

The only reason I trust the source is Automotive News is really the serious business periodical for the industry - tracking sales trends, production and incentives. So I am hoping they have it right.

RockyTheGreat, $31k for 2008 EXL RES and NAV is about $2k below invoice! Congrats, that sounds like a great deal to me! I'm on the west coast, so pricing may be significantly different over here, but the best quotes i'm getting for the 2008 EXL RES (no NAV) is just about the same as what you paid for RES and NAV.

Simple - go to the honda website and email them directly. There is a $25 internet fee, but obviously worth it. Email everyone within 50 miles and you will get responses next day (do it on a friday night). See donkeypunches email for many more details (but that was a bit over the top).
  • mjojomjojo Member Posts: 4
Keenan Honda - price includes everything but tax (6% sales). I can't post a name here, but there are only two people who respond to emails. My guy was really nice
  • mjojomjojo Member Posts: 4
Just make a phony email address. Easy to do - mine was something like wantanewodyssey(at)gmail.com.
  • scottyt24scottyt24 Member Posts: 24
I've been trying to get into a new Odyssey for the last few weeks and mentioned the $2500 and the finannce rates that someone mentioned earlier to my sales guy. They knew nothing of either incentive and as of yesterday, they said the only thing happening on the '08 right now is the $1000 cash.
I wonder if they will start to do something soon as Toyota is doing 0% right now for 36 months and 2.9 for 60.
  • philly95philly95 Member Posts: 8
    Why Friday night, mjojo?
  • tbrasse1tbrasse1 Member Posts: 6
I cannot. I asked for a total nut price. Tax, fees, tag, etc. I bring a check for one dollar amount and leave with vehicle. I will ask the winner to break out fees when I buy and post for you.
  • tbrasse1tbrasse1 Member Posts: 6
In my search and utilization of the patented Donkeypunch method, I have discovered there are about half a dozen leftover 07 Touring models here locally. Any idea what I could get a leftover touring edition for?
  • rockythegreatrockythegreat Member Posts: 9
You should get the 2007 Touring for a great deal of around $30000 inlcuding destination....I know because a friend of mine got the same for 29850 including destination but dealer charged him $300 in fees, tags, etc...I think dealer did that to cover the vehicle price around $30000. The dealer BTW is Kenan Honda in PA
  • lali3lali3 Member Posts: 16
    Rockythegreat,
Appreciate if you can give me salesperson name, I am also in PA & this is a good price

    Thanks

On December 30th I purchased a new 2007 EX-L leftover with a $32,000.00 sticker price for $24,000. This included rebate of $2500.00. I couldn't believe it either...$8,000 off the factory sticker on a Honda. (I guess they wanted to move it before the first of the year or they would have to pay inventory tax on it in RI.) The dealer insisted on driving it out of the showroom so I could test drive it before I had even committed to a purchase price. It was prepped and ready the next day. They had to put a new batttery in because the OEM battery suffered a dead cell. This was probably due to the fact that customers ran it down playing with the electronics (i.e. power seats, etc.) while it sat on the showroom floor. Outside of that, the vehicle has been flawless. My first tank of gas averaged about $20 mpg city/highway combined.

I thought someone mentioned in an earlier post to check Honda's website for inventory, but I don't see a link on the Odyssey site. Is there an easy way to know what dealers have in inventory, or is it checking dealer by dealer?
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
No easy way - one must search dealer by dealer.
  • wisngamecockwisngamecock Member Posts: 52
Mr. Cheesehead, unfortunately, there is no easy way to check dealer inventories en masse. You will need to first identify dealers within your region on the Honda Website and then go to the individual sites. Many post new inventory. Some do not. good luck, and Go PACKERS!

Can you tell me where you are located to get $24,000 on an EX-L 07 model. I am holding out for an 08 but at that price I am willing to settle for an 07 EX-L.

    Thank you
  • tbrasse1tbrasse1 Member Posts: 6
Wow! Did it have RES and NAV? Can you supply me any othe rinformation? That may be worth dealing with the PAX for that price....
    :D
  • murmalmurmal Member Posts: 25
    All,

I have received a out the door price of $36,878.00 price for 2008 Ody, Touring without PAX. The dealer is giving wheel locks, mats, mudguards, 1 year free oil change, life long free state inspection. Is this a good deal?

    Yours,

    Murmal.

My 2000 Odyssey was totaled this week - t-boned in an intersection - so we are motivated to buy quickly.

I have a quote from a dealer in SoCal:

"Your prices for the 2007 Honda Odyssey EXL W/DVD is $27,995.00 and with DVD & NAV is $29,995.00 plus tax and license. The 2008 Honda Odyssey EXL W/DVD is $30,495.00 and with DVD & NAV is $32,295.00 plus tax and license."

Also, based on a quick scan of the last few pages of this forum thread, I created a quick gmail account and requested quotes from dealerships within about 100 miles from me (I'm in the middle of nowhere; have to drive at least an hour no matter what).

Am awaiting insurance information on the payout for my van, but we already have loan approval. I'd appreciate knowing if the above prices are good, or if there's a chance we can do better. I'm primarily interested in a 2008 EX-L with RES and w/wo NAV, but I'd really prefer a Touring. I absolutely need 8-passenger seating.

    TIA.

Do you think the dealers are willing to deal as much on the 2007 now as they were before the new year.. I see that some got 2007 EX-L for 24K... can I push for that, or should I not expect that much?

    Thanks!
  • praoprao Member Posts: 1
    I got a odyssey 06 , EX-L for 23700. Is it a good deal?
  • bboy2bboy2 Member Posts: 9
I hope no one was injured, how did the Ody perform in a real life wreck? I've been gathering quotes on same vehicle. best I've done so far after 2 days on the 08 EX-L RES is $30246 with an OTD price of $32261. I also got 28k on the 2007 EX-L RES but couldn't even get close on color. Lots of people complain about the gas mileage on the 2007 also. Not sure if it's any better on the 08 but they say the ratings are closer due to higher standard?? Good luck and keep us posted on your results the more numbers we have the better!

My local dealer has offered the LX for $23,780 (plugs tags, tags, documentation), and the EX for $26,582. I see on this forum that many people are buying up-level models.

I'm in southern NJ. Do these offers look like rock bottom, or is there still some wiggle room? Let's hear it for cut-rate Odyssey's!

North Providence, RI. The Dealer was Metro Honda on Route 6 in Johnston, RI. It was the last 07 he had in inventory.
  • mthomasdbmthomasdb Member Posts: 15
I don't know how much end-of-the-year factory to dealer incentives, holdbacks, or just the desire to get as many vehicles as possible out the door before New Year's played a part. This dealer just finished building a brand new dealership in 2007 and with 2007 being one the of the worst for car sales in 10 years, probably needs as much income as possible to pay off the big nut of a building loan. I did see another dealer (Herb Chambers Honda) advertise an EX without leather in last weeks paper for $23,500 so go figure?
