We got a Silver EX-L with RES from local Cincinnati Honda East dealer. I intend to keep the van for quite some time, so got the Honda care warranty also, which seemed like worth the money to me. And got the special Honda 0.9% finance rate also.

Vehicle Price: $28,178 (incl destination charge)
    Honda care 8 yr/100,000 miles warranty - $1150
    Tax: $1906 (OH 6.5%)
    Dealer Proc: $250
    Title fee - $25
    -----------------------------
    Total OTD: $31,509

I am also from St Louis. Have you already bought your EX-L? We are getting price quotes of $27,300--where did you get your quote? Any interest in bargaining together to get a better price?
  • artispeeartispee Member Posts: 8
We've gotten a quote from Bommarito's at around 26,600 w/out RES. With RES and NAV 29,850 to expire 8/31/08. Honda East in Cn, Ohio lowest bid was 26,200 w/out RES. We are still holding out for a better deal as we've seen other post for better prices. We are planning on purchasing over the Labor Day weekend for sure. If you would like to try a group deal that might buy us some purchasing power. What do you think? We would be happy to try. Get back to me asap at arttravparker at aol dot com to see what we can work out.

    Hi swaminra,

Is this price quote from Open Road with special financing? I have tried Clinton Honda, Phillipsburg Honda, VIP Honda and Open Road and they all quoted $32,000 OTD with special financing for EX-L with RES and no NAV. Have you heard anything better?Let me know.
  • atk08atk08 Member Posts: 1
Just came back from Honda dealership, best price OTD I got was 30686 (extra $1,000 off if no H/ finance) plus NC Tax, $398 dealer documentation fee, $74 for a new tag. Total of $32,078.58 Is anybody getting a better deal in the area or VA / SC. Any comments would be helpful, if I should pull the trigger and buy the car.

Are you using Honda Financing or your own bank/credit union? It is not that great a deal if you paid $28,200 but at $27,200 it is a good deal.

Assuming purchase price is amount financed and you make down pymt of TTL:

    $28,200 @ 2.9% for 60 mos. (honda finance) = $505.46/mo.

    $27,200 @ 5.25% for 60 mos. (good rate) = $516..42/mo.

    $27,200 @ 2.9% for 60 = 488 mo.

Lots of posts do not mention financing.

    Hi All,

    Freight: $670.00
    Dealer Processing: $399.00
    VA Sales Tax (3.12%): $750.33
    VA Tags: $59.50

Total Out the Door Price: $24,858.83

Do you guys think its a good price. I did come across a post from a june where a gentleman got same van for 24,300 but he had some coupon.

I am going to try a few more this weekend..will update you as soon as I get more quotes...I did find out that the 2009 models are not going to be in until sometime October...therefore a better deal might occur sometime in September when they are really desperate to make room for the incoming models.

Been using this site for research and just wanted to share details of my recent purchase at the Honda dealership in Downey, CA.

    2008 Honda EX-L RES
The sale price was $28,852 with 0.9% for 36 months (would have been $27,852 if cash purchase). The only fee they charged beside TTL was a $55 doc fee. The OTD price was a little over $31,500.

I've had the car for a few days now. There is about 100 miles on it and the gas is already half empty. I bought it with 11 miles and a full tank of gas. I've heard before that the first tank's mileage may be lower because there are addititives in the first tank. Is this true? or should I have the car checked out?

i got a honda odyssey ex with cloth for 23400 in bloomsburg pa. no coupon.
  • sivakingsivaking Member Posts: 2
If you go with .9% rate then they add $1000, right?
I'm also living in Austin, I got the same price.
  • cpmacinnescpmacinnes Member Posts: 4
Yes. $27,200 was for a cash purchase.

It would be $28,200 if you used the Honda financing.

Checked all three dealerships in Austin and the one in Killeen and couldn't find a better offer.
  • cpmacinnescpmacinnes Member Posts: 4
I had some time this afternoon so I was scanning through the posts from last September/October/November (2007). I was surprised to see that there wasn't much movement in the price people were paying through that period.

Don't know if there were great year-end deals after that, but the prices people were reporting seemed to hold pretty steady.

Does anyone with experience from last year have any thoughts about whether we can expect to see prices drop in the Fall months?

    Hello There,
    I am in the market for a Ex-L RES and got a quote from Stokes Honda North in North Charleston, SC;
    Stokes Honda North

Below is your price quote from Stokes Honda North.

    2008 Honda Odyssey EX-L w/ Rear Entertainment:

    Internet Price: 28,761
    Tax: $300
    Tags: $59
    Doc Fee: $299.50

    Total Price: $29,419.50

If you were in the market for the NAV system, that you can add roughly $2000, that brings you to $31,419. Kurman

    Hi,

Could you tell me which dealers you went to and how much was the drive out for an EX-L?

Do you know of the prices paid for an EX-L and EX-L w/RES in Houston?
  • cpmacinnescpmacinnes Member Posts: 4
    Sorry, don't know about Houston.

The prices I found in Austin for a 2008 Odyssey EX-L were:

    Howdy Honda: $27,336 (OTD $29,279)
    First Texas Honda: $27,600
    Cleo Bay Honda (Killeen): $27,600
    Gilman Honda (San Antonio): $27,390
Round Rock Honda: $27,000 (OTD $28,915)
  • alic3alic3 Member Posts: 15
What dealership did you get your quote from..the price includes destination? I am still working on trying to get a quote of 26,400 including destination.
  • fastfred3fastfred3 Member Posts: 4
I helped my son who just purchases a Honda Odyssey EX-L from Huntington Honda, in Huntington, New York. Rep was Chloe. He paid $26,586 +$2293.04(NY TAX 8.65%)+$67.5 Reg Fee for out the door price of $28,946.53.

The price for the EX before ttl was 23,649 which would equate about $25,756 OTD

Used email technique detailed on this board. This was about $700 less than other local dealers.

    All,

After some research, my wife and I have decided to go for a 2008 Odyssey EX-L RES & Nav in the DFW (Dallas / Fort Worth) area.

Here is what my wife and I got from our first dealer:

    MSRP: 35,810
    Destination and Handling: 670
Protection (wheel locks, mud guards, cargo net): 699
    Pin Stripe: 299
    Tint: 299
    Discount: -4,241
    Sales Tax (6.5%): 2,153
    Tag/Registration: 59
    Smog: 21
    Title: 33
    Deputy: 5
    Doc Fees: 50
    Road and Bridge: 13

    Total OTD 35,870

The add-ons like protection, tint, and pin stripe are already on the vehicles on the lot. Are any of the items mentioned above negotiable? He said that the $4,241 discount is really good. 0.9% financing available on this vehicle. If I do not avail it, the price will go down further by 1,000.

    Any inputs?

    Thanks!

We decided tonight to buy a Odyssey EX-L with NAV and RES. I thought i read a post on this site previously (months ago) about how to/what to include in email inquiries. I will buy a car ASAP, and want to stress this to the dealers, as long as the price is right.

    Thanks!

I did a deal for a 2008 EXL up in the Northeast for $26,212 (including destination). I am satisfied with the price. Probably could have squeezed a few more dollars if I pushed it but it wasn't worth it. My approach was to zero in on 3 dealers, get as much of the negotiation done on the phone and then land at one dealer nearby to finalize the deal. If I then stood up and went to the second or third dealers perhaps I could have dropped the price by a few dollars but I didn't care to. They are all anxious to move the 2008s and the $2,500 trunk money from Honda certainly helped get the deal. Don't forget about that. Do your researh, read forums like these and strike. You can never find the true bottom but I'm guessing this is fairly close and seems like a fair price. I will add one cautionary note. Once you complete the purchase process, as everyone knows, you are passed along to the accessories department where the dealer tries to sell you stuff (e.g. cargo nets, roof racks, nose covers etc.) in various combinations of packages etc. I was interested in unbundling one add-on, the roof rack. I got a price from the salesman and asked one simple question which was whether I would see the same accessory on their website or some other dealer's website at a lower cost. This caused the salesman to drop the price and I bit. Upon returning home I couldn't resist and searched for the part on the internet and what happens? The very same dealer has the part advertised on their website for substantially less that what I paid! Needless to say, I will get this fixed. I paid for the roof rack separately and is not part of the financing. I will simply return it if they don't credit me for the difference. It goes to show you that no matter how much research you do and how sophisticated a buyer you are, the dealers are sharks and will try to nick you at each step in the process. But after I purchased the vehicle and they sell me some accessory at a higher price than what is posted on their website is an absolute farce.

$28,100 (on road) for EX-L RES.. wow!.. I think you should take it immediately, if it's true.

Make sure that it is for the RES.. and make sure that includes the taxes and everything via email confirmation.. before going in .. I am smelling something fishy here. especially after 6% taxes.. that is a verrry low price. Looks like bait and switch. Hope for you sake, that it is not so.

    Hello All,
Yesterday got one for 23700 including destination (+ 7 year oil change) in NJ. Could not get anything less.

    Purchased 28 Aug 2008:

Honda Odyssey EX-L with Pro Package (Mud Guards, Locking Nuts, Trunk Tray)
    $26,592 - Car
    $2198.38 - Taxes
    $55 - Doc Prep
    $263.75 - Licence/Title/CA Tire Fee/Smog Impact Fee
    ----------------------------------------------
    $29,109.13 - Total - Paid Cash
The dealer in-house paperwork displayed that they had lost $893 on the deal. I'm not sure how that gets calculated with all the sales tactics.

    My research:
$29,166 - Base invoice from CarSeek
    +$635 - Destination Charge
    -$966 - Dealer holdback
    -$2500 - Incentives - through Sept 2 - if you pay cash
    --------------------
$26,335 - Consumer reports "Bottom Line" price for base unit - I don't know dealer cost for the ProPack options

The best deal we got prior to this one was $27,092 from Costco, and didn't involve the 2 hours wait/haggle at the purchased-from dealer. According to that other dealer, Costco cancels a dealer's partnership if Costco hears complaints from their customers about pressure tactics, etc.
  • abc1298abc1298 Member Posts: 1
You do can get the car $4000 below the invoice.
just give dealers the offer, to see who will accept it. that's it.
    i bought one, are 22229 + 670 + 89(dealer fee) + TTL
OTD price is around $24500 or 24600.
good luck. and pay attention to the date of the car, i saw a car the dealer gave to me for test drive is 11/07...
